Vice President Ingone Wina has implored the youths to actively participate in the development of the country.

Ms Wina made the appeal to the youths during a special thanks giving national youth service held at the Anglican Cathedral Holy Cross church in Lusaka this afternoon.
She said the participation of the youths in national development is cardinal in building a better Zambia.

The Vice President urged the youths to use their talents in propelling the country to greater height.

She assured the youths that government will continue to strive in creating a conducive environment for them to excel in their endeavours.

Ms Wina said the participation of youths in the social- economic development of the country is cardinal as youths are full of innovative ideas.

Meanwhile the Vice President has commended the church for the role it has continued to play in shaping the morals of the youths.

Ms Wina noted that the church was playing an important role of instilling good values in the youths.

The Vice President further appealed to adults to be role models to the youths and compliment the church in raising a society of upright citizens.

The service was characterised with Christian songs sung by various choir groups from different denominations.

High profiled government officials who attend the national youth thanks giving service included Minister of Youth and Sports Vincent Mwale, Heather Minister Dr Joseph Kasonde, Deputy Secretary to Cabinet Ambassador Dr Peter Kasanda and Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary Agnes Munsuga.

Pupils drawn from various government and private schools in Lusaka were also in attendance.

  1. Attn Editor,

    Kindly do correct the following:

1). Ingone Wina to “Inonge Wina”

2). Heather Minister to “Health Minister”

    • Come on Friend of LT. Where is the fun if a Zambian publication gets it right all the time!! It’s part of the chaos!

      Malapropism in Culture Expand
      Malapropism [( mal -uh-prop-iz-uhm)]

A humorous confusion of words that sound vaguely similar, as in “We have just ended our physical year” instead of “We have just ended our fiscal year.”

Note : Mrs. Malaprop, a character in an eighteenth-century British comedy, The Rivals, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, constantly confuses words. Malapropisms are named after her.

  2. Looking at the president and then his vice! Whoever thinks zambia will develop with such weak top leadership then his or her head must be closely checked.

  3. Ganja farmer I completely agree with you 100%. 2016 these clowns should be voted out. We need sustainable development and be respected in southern africa.

    • If it’s only your vote that counts, you will surely vote them out,but if every Zambian’s vote counts ,then go to hell, we don’t want to be governed by the TONGA BULLS,coz they are…..

  4. There we go, just like her boss, she understands that development in any nation must be focused on the youth. The grassroots. In bemba the saying is ” Imiti yikula empanga” mean the youth are the future. Simple, but wise and proper forecast. VIVA ECL & Madam VP!!!!

  5. Bi Wina mimi sitarudi Zambia nchi chafu ya watu wavivu.

If you can’t even maintain simple city sanitation what makes you think you can ace more complex development matters?

  6. Easier said than done. It is just a cheap talk that even a fool can not buy it. Politicians are so greed that when it comes to using citizens they will use them…..Cheap talk madam try it on the next door- Zimbabwe

  7. We have here another ceremonial veep only there merely for gender balancing…and we wonder why we don’t move forward…if only the electorate could elect a running mate as well.

  8. Any fellow Zambian’s here from England?? I’m interested in starting up a business in Zambia and was wondering which trade to get into!

Ps if anyone is serious and wants to partner up with me, get in touch! No time wasters, I have some experience in accounting and business so any bs will be sniffed out!

  9. Vice President Ingone Wina initiative to get more youths to take part in the betterment of the nation is another great step taken towards a successful nation. Youths shall now start participating in the development programs. For this reason, the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) has devised an annual programme to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and to equip them with the essential skills required to launch and operate their businesses at the early stage of their growth.
