PATRIOTIC Front (PF) chairperson for elections Emmanuel Mpakata has advised founding members not to worry about the ruling party’s decision to adopt former MMD members of Parliament (MPs) Kapembwa Simbao and Michael Katambo to re-contest the Senga Hill and Masaiti seats, respectively, in the parliamentary by-elections set for April 14.

Mr Mpakata said in an interview yesterday that PF had a working relationship with former President Rupiah Banda prior to the January 20 presidential election in which President Lungu emerged winner.

“This is politics. What we have with MMD is a marriage of convenience. We are interested in votes,” Mr Mpakata said

He assured PF members not to feel left out because the party wants to grow stronger by embracing everyone.

Mr Mpakata said the candidates adopted by the party are strong on the ground and will win the parliamentary seats.

The PF has adopted Mr Simbao and Mr Katambo to re-contest Senga Hill and Masaiti parliamentary seats after the Supreme Court nullified their election due to electoral malpractices.

“I wish to assure our faithful party members that we still hold them in high esteem. The reason we have adopted these candidates is because we know that they will win the seats,” Mr Mpakata said.

Lack of principles and morality in our politicians.

    • Indeed lack of principles. The Supreme Court, the highest court in the land nullifies a seat on account of corruption, and the ruling party adopts the same corrupt person on their ticket? Where too, mother Zambia? So what then does one say about Dora Siliya? it is the PF that blocked her adoption for Petauke Central, today Dora is in bed with the same people that led her to be out of parliament today? we need a brand new breed of politicians in Zambia not the “recycled” non-entities selfish who don’t even have the Zambian people at heart. OK, what about the man who petitioned Simbao, is he not Zambian? Simbao being rewarded for being corrupt! Woooooooooooooooo
