Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has called for a meeting to discuss how government institutions in the region will settle the financial arrears owed to Eastern Water and Sewerage Company (EWSC).

Mr. Kasolo said government and other institutions in Eastern province were owing the water company money amounting to K4 million.

He said local authorities have the highest amount totalling to K1.6 million.

He said the meeting will involve various government institutions and organisations to discuss how to pay back the money being owed to the EWSC.

And Mr. Kasolo has revealed that the provincial administration will put in place measures that will help provide water to institutions in future.

He cited carrying out surveys to find out which places will be in need of water, drilling more boreholes especially at hospitals and also get assistance from Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) as measures that will be put in place.

Mr. Kasolo however said he was not aware of the disruption of water at Petauke police camp and Chadiza health centre.

He said he will make a follow up on the situation.
