Acting President Inonge Wina has said that any remarks of a sexist nature are un-acceptable from any source.

Mrs. Wina said that government acknowledged the need for full participation of women in the development agenda.

Mrs. Wina said this had been demonstrated through the unprecedented appointment of women in key positions which were traditionally dominated by the male folks.

She appealed to all men and women in the country to set good examples for civility.

Mrs. Wina, who is Republican Vice President, said this in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka last evening by her Senior Private Secretary Sheila Siwela.

Mrs. Wina’s wise counsel follows Education Minister Michael Kaingu who a few days ago allegedly labelled opposition UPND Namwala Member of parliament (MP) Moono Lubezhi a prostitute.

This remark has received wide-spread condemnation from the public, the opposition UPND leadership including other stakeholders saying Zambia was a Christian nation where respect for mankind should be at center stage.

    • Let Kaingu expunge his remarks otherwise he should be fired. He is such a foul mouthed person and his talks are always bawdy.
Even if he is a polygamist he should have respect for every God’s creature either man, woman, monkey……etc.
I respect him as a scholarly man and as such he shouldnt be behaving like PF miscreants.

    • Boondox what is the issue here? It appears some of you have no time to digest and do things without thinking. There is a big difference between sexiest and sexist.

    • Oh so you do you do the same when talking to your mother, sister or wife (if you have any). Respect women and stop being primitive, human beings stopped living in tree’s a very long time ago…. in case you haven”t noticed. You think putting down a woman makes you more of a man it doesnt it just exposes insecure cowards no different no different from a rapist. No wonder you have chosen a name ati misango…. misango indeed. You make us men ALL look bad.

    • Kaingu must step down for the following reasons,
      1. he has insulted all our mothers
      2. the MoE has more than half of the staff, especially teachers, composed of women, he has insulted them too
      3. the students or the very reason MoE exists consists of girl child, he has insulted them too
      4. the majority of voters in this country are women and he has insulted them too
      5. The PF/MMD current govt is trying to show respect for women by appointing women to positions of authority, Kaingu has managed demean the appointing authority too

    • Kaingu is just annoyed and embarrassed by her daughter Iris’ actions for behaving like a prostitute and so whichever woman he has a confrontation with, he tries to portray her just like her daughter presented herself to the world- a prostitute. Chimubaba maningi mudaala and now thinks every woman is a prostitute. We must feel sorry for him.

  1. Ms. Wina, your comment amounts just to empty political embroidery.
Be frank and to the point, has the Minister been “sexist and *****ic” when making such 5tupid comment?
    Yes or No?

    • Hon. Kaingu is a failure, visit his constituency in Mwandi and judge him.He has been an MP and Minister for a longtime but with little or nothing to show, I think his behaviour has to do with his upbringing you know these pure stubborn Lozis who had no idea that one day they would be Ministers! The problem of using recycled and finished politicians honestly what value is he adding to Ministry of Education? he fails to answer a simple question simply because he has no time to get facts about issues in his ministry! shame on You , by the way where did he get his Phd from?
      FIRE HIM

    • Ms Wina statements seems very wishy washy. She should condemn Kaingu’s insults in the strongest possible terms. Kaingu’s should publicly apologise for using such foul language and he should be disciplined. Better still step down!

  2. Well done Madam Acting President. Its good you have spoken.

But can you be a bit forceful and authoritative, your remarks seem very casual /or a by the way speech.

I’m sure you have enough teeth to bite and instill discipline.

Counsel the two stubborn ministers Kambwili and Kaingu sternly.

    Flex your muscle granny.

  3. President lungu should crample on indiscipline in the government by firing the minister Kaingu immediatelyfor these insults. If he does not act now he has sown bad seed for his government leaders to do things with impunity.

Edgar fire Kaingu even when the complainant is from opposition, after all Kaingu is not a good leader by far.

  4. One really wonders why of all the people or MPs in the opposition one would appoint Kaingu a useless of a man. I have never found Kaingu a useful person in my dealing with him. He is very scanderlous. Above all he is a corrupt fellow. Look at how he plundered money when he was minister of Community Development and social chakuti… only to be restrained by the then woman PS. I ask Lungu to reliquish Kaingu of his ministerial position, it is no wonder he is a polygamist, I think he abuses those wives of his.

  5. That is good to hear from the Vice President. You have one plus from me. However, you still need to repent for what you did to Dr Scott when he was acting president. Unlike you, Dr Scott will forever be remembered as a hero. Wait until a similar situation happens to you, then you will know that all those men surrounding you are real vampires.

  6. Quite paradoxical that most polygamists are sexist, most wealthy people are misers, most religious people are bigots. The world never ceases to amaze. That said, this unrepentant Kaingu guy must be back-benched as soon as possible. We are not short of capable people on the back bench to take his portfolio. The sooner this is done the earlier he will begin to lick his sorry-as.sed wounds

  7. Politics aside on this one I actually stood up and gave a salute to Mrs. Wina on this one, bravo mama. This culture of demeaning women in Zambia must die. We are no longer cavemen please. God made woman from mans rib (side) not his head to be above him or feet to be below him but from his side to be on his side. ALL men who belittle woman are insecure period. When you are secure in who you are you dont need to put down women to prove your worth, you just know it… I am a man period. Maybe its failed performance, size issues or maybe having been breast fed too long I dont know or not having received enough love from mommy I am just saying. Why would’nt a man appreciate the worth of a woman. I wonder does Kaingo speak like that to his mom, wife, daughter when they upset him…just asking?

  8. Normally when you call someone by that title, only implies that you ‘know’ them better than what we might think. So chill people, Kaingu ‘knows’ Moono, besides these two are traditional cousins.

  9. This recycled mmd cadre thinks he is very superior, no wonder he can’t respect the women he stays with. If his daughter is a bitch it is not every woman who is like that. To be honest this man is dull and I can’t understand why ECL gave him that ministry. He fails to answer simple questions and it annoys him! What an I.diot! I remember one time he failed to answer questions pertaining to MMD and he got angry with the interviewer! Maso yobe swine!

  10. Male chauvinist! That’s a constitutional shortcoming. Ministers should be non-politicians, principled people of integrity, vetted from the public and not compromising their positions to seek relevance. Review this clause as this appears a national challenge. A narrow mind, however, goes along a wide mouth.

  11. If the PF can tolerate such behaviour and that’s the party we have in power then it says a lot about our entire society. This calls for stern action and not just word of condemnation. This should be one issue where all Zambians regardless of political affiliation should stand up and demand disciplinary action. KAINGU NEEDS TO GO. We hope the president will show true leadership and act to defend the dignity of all Zambia and not just women.NOTHING SHORT OF IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL IS ACCEPTABLE. KAINGU MUST GO.EDGAR LUNGU SHOW US WHAT KIND OF MAN YOU ARE!
