NKANA FOOTBALL CLUB OPPOSES PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE FAZ CONSTITUTION

(28 March 2015, Kitwe) Nkana Football Club have strongly rejected the proposed amendments to the FAZ Constitution, namely:

For a councillor to stand as President of FAZ, he/she must have served in FAZ Executive (Committee) as a member
That for someone to stand on FAZ position, a non-refundable fee must first be paid to the Secretariat when submitting the nomination papers as follows.
President – K25,000.00
Vice President – K20,000.00
Treasurer – K15,000.00
C/Member – K10,000.00

iii For one to qualify to stand as FAZ President, they must have served in FAZ either as an Executive Committee member, Treasurer or Vice President before.

Nkana Football Club Executive on behalf of the club and its supporters categorically oppose this move. The club feels that this is not a necessary, urgent nor critical issue to be table at the AGM compared to the more critical and urgent challenges that Zambian football is faced with and require immediate attention. Among these include;

Continuous poor performance by our national teams at all levels
Need for improvement of our Zambian football league
Need for improvement in football administration countrywide by making it profitable and professional with people with the right skills and experience.

Nkana Football Club feels that it is incorrect and very unfair to call people running football across the country as outsiders and that they should not be allowed to run for FAZ Presidency when in fact some of these people have more than what it takes to run football. Some of these people are competent enough and capable to go for the top position and turn around the fortunes of football in Zambia.

As a club we reject attempts by some individuals to hijack the running of football in Zambia by proposing retrogressive amendments to the constitution that are aimed at advancing the interests of a small clique of people.

We feel people must be ushered in offices based on their capabilities and proven performance and not through underhand methods such as systematic baring of potential candidates. This is likely to damage both the image and standard of football in Zambia.

With regard to the proposed non-refundable astronomical fees to participate in FAZ elections, this is a big joke that must be rejected by all sober-minded and football-loving fans and administrators. FAZ must find better ways to raise funds for elections.

Nkana Football Club therefore wishes to appeal to the President of the Football Association of Zambian to utterly reject this motion and not to be misled by people surrounding him and wanting to pursue their personal interests.

For and on behalf of Nkana Football Club

  1. Thank you Nkana football club for telling Kalusha off I hope more clubs will do the same FAZ is not personal to holder for any one.

    • Alternatively, the FAZ president can be elected by show of hands and or by rigging. It’s nothing new, it’s the new democracy!!

    • Kalusha Bwalya never planned for his retirement from playing football, and the guy has no ability to earn a living using his brains so he wants to turn FAZ into a life long cash-cow. Further, he has taken advantage of the docility of Zambians.

  2. Thank you Nkana for the enormous courage and bravery you have shown by telling Kalusha off. I hope other clubs can demonstrate fearlessness and bravery as well.

  3. Well done Nkana FC, we all know what the selfish, greedy empty suit Galu is up to trying to make it impossible for others to have a go at administration as he has lamentably failed to run football in this country. In all honesty why should one pay whooping K25000 for just standing as President and to qualify to stand as FAZ President, they must have served in FAZ either as an Executive Committee member, Treasurer or Vice President before; if people can not read through this proposed clause then they are gullible zombies as it bars everyone expect the thieves Galu included who are currently serving.
These greedy thieves like Galu wouldn’t survive without the FAZ gravy train hence desperately clinging on pushing proposals via his puppets at Nchanga.

    • It is clear you *****s hate Great Kalu, you will never be like him in so far as world football is concern. Ask Kambwili he will tell you all spineless creatures that Kalu is an Icon. Until he Zambia grabs CAF Kalu is Zambian footall and Zambian football is Kalu. ALL of you pompis had been around in FAZ but our football still was un marketed.

  4. Galu promised us transparency & accountability under his leadership in 12 years he has been at the top he has not produced a proper audit report of accounts.. how he has spent taxpayers moneys…FAZ was awarded over a million dollars in 2012 and all of it has disappeared, Ministry of Sport and the Auditor General’s need to quiz these corrupt empty suits in FAZ. What type of FA president gets a personal loan of $80,000 from a billionaire of the country that was trying to secure to host the world cup in Qatar.
Everything in FAZ is connected to Galu, TV rights, Kit, sponsorship deals…only him alone overseeing these deals its no wonder FAZ is spoonfed by taxpayers as all the profit is shared between themselves.

Zambians wake up do not let this Galu thief push for a lifetime mandate!!

    • Hmm! Ba jay jay, 3 long posts just on this article alone. I have noticed that you never miss a chance to attack Kalu when it appears. I don’t agree with Kalu on this and many other things , but I find your comments about him too emotional. Nishani kanshi, Kalu anakupoka gelo?

    • Gelo! So if I criticise him then it is personal…when are we going to stop this small mindedness …this the selfsame reason there is too immaturity in Zambian politics because of such mindsets. Do you know that it’s taxpayer’s who bankroll Faz?
      Wake up!!

  5. …..it should be must that FAZ president must be a resident in Zambia… I’m sure by now even the proposers after a second look at their shameful proposals are wondering how on earth did they come up with such horrible ideas…..according to the proposal, a mere FAZ committee member is more responsible than a chairman of a premier club say Power Dynamos chairman……?????????? what a nonsense…

    • These guys Galu and co. do not want outsiders who are savvy business minded and bring fresh ideas on to the table they just want continue to only improve their personal bank balances….clubs in Zambia are getting a raw deal from everything to negotiated TV deals to policies as FAZ elite is negotiating for themselves.
Infact FAZ should have nothing to do with TV deals this should be negotiated by a subsidiary company not the President but a private registered company that deals with everything from marketing to sponsorship…FAZ should only be concerned with policy administration and national team.
Everything in Zambian football is so wrong and no wonder corruption is rampant.

    • *….are savvy business minded and can bring fresh ideas on to the table they just want continue to only improve their personal bank balances…

  6. He did audatiously objected 2 the labour ministres rational side only 2 land the govmt in an irrational fine, the same has had this sport at its lowest ebb and wins him a wamuyayaya vote at the agm couple d wth sensl ess a dotion fees.no light at the end of the tunnels!

  7. Kalusha Bwalya never planned for his retirement from playing football, and the guy has no ability to earn a living using his brains so he wants to turn FAZ into a life long cash cow. Further, he has taken advantage of the docility of Zambians.

  8. Thumbs up Nkana FC. You have proved to the entire country that you are brave and you hava no one to fear when it comes to real business of developing Zambian Soccer. The proposed amendements are barbaric and we should not allow those who want to serve their personal interest take advantage. If I was in the position of influence I would propose that only those in management should be elected eg president, vice, treasurer, Secretary General…as for committee members each super league club should elect its own member to their representative. This will create a connection between clubs which produces players for the national team and FAZ…
