Janza wins on Zambia swan song

Share

Zambia beat Rwanda 2-0 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Sunday in what was probably Honour Janza’s swan song as Chipolopolo coach.

The match came just 24 hours after FAZ confirmed that Janza would not be substantive Zambia coach and that a foreigner was going to be hired to replace the caretaker trainer who has been in charge since August, 2014.

Meanwhile, second half goals from Rainford Kalaba and veteran winger Alan Mukuka sealed Zambia’s first win in 2015 after picking up two draws and as many defeats this year.

Kalaba scored the first goal in the 60th minute from close range to calm Zambia’s nerves after failing to breakdown Rwanda’s defence in the opening hour in which they came under-pressure from some very expectant home fans

Mukuka sealed the victory in the 80th minute with a fine volley to end his six year exile from the Zambia fold following his last call-up in 2009.

    • Janza seems to be a nice guy, however, we need a real coach. Zambian soccer is below standard. Nothing personal Mr Janza.

  1. He was given lackluster players from the very start. How can one win a tournament with no talent? Even Chiyato needs practice and then eventual skills.

  2. Rwana is not a strong opponent, we needed teams like : Senegal, Ghana, France, Algeria, Tunisia Spain. Anyway maybe we just needed to improve on FIFA rankings.

  3. How do you rate a coach who is tactless? We have no local coach in Zambia to handle our National teams let alone clubs.

The recent club ratings for the top 30 clubs in Africa has no Zambian club meaning our soccer has gone down, due to poor coaching.
When we had good coaches, we had teams like Nkana, Green Buffaloes, Kabwe Warriors & Mufulira Wanderers etc.

We have nothing to show for, both at international & club level. Recently our women team was clobbered 4 – 2 at home.

    • Even Renard was kicked out in the first round. Kalusha too as coach. Even Bukhard Zeisa. Janza just needed more time to build his own team. Renard flourished on Bonnetis team. when it was time to rebuild the team after the Afcon winning team sttarted to fade, he failed lamentably and ran away to France where his team was relegated. Zambians just love imported products. Start manufacturing your own

  4. I said from the time that Janza was clueless.A worker must not blame the tools for poor workmanship. Most Zambian coaches lack tactical approach to the game of football especially when the game is on.

Good riddance and please FAZ hire a French coach with proven experience and give him time to rebuild the team.

  5. …Mark my words! The coach will come from either Holland, Mexico or Belgium. Do you know why? Kalusha had stints in these countries and as such its easy for him to head hunt and find a coach whom he will tell what to do.

As for Janza, he rushed so many young players for the senior national team. U-20 : Boyd Mkandawire, Kapota Kayawe, Spencer Sautu, Patrick Ngoma, Davi Daka, Chris Zulu, Simpemba, Chakawa, the list is endless.

Does it mean that this country has no experienced players to play at the senior level? That is why we came out in the first round at the AFCON !

  6. When you fail you fail! Hounor Janza must be step back and let the real coaches do it! And please mukalamba wesu Great!! Pliz Pliz! Nochi ifya kusala based on Imwe mweka! We need professionals! Otherwise, Ba Zambia got one thing right yesterday! Midfield! Kondwani and Justin held down that Midfield well! Had it not been for a blunt clueless wayward bozo’s in front of goal, we would have registered a cricket scoreline! The future remains with the Kangwas, Sate Sates, Ngomas, Dakas, Lubambos, Sautus, Mkandawires, in the Junior teams! Janza ka tushe mudala! Namu bomba!

    • Janza just needed time and freedom to build up the next generation of players, but some Zambians are too much in a hurry for results to give him that space and time. Viva Janza, viva Zambia.
