COACH Honour Janza failed to celebrate Zambia’s win over Rwanda in an international friendly yesterday as he fumed over the decision by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to openly discuss his employment.

Second half goals by skipper Rainford Kalaba and midfielder Allan Mukuka could do nothing to console Janza, who expressed disappointment with FAZ decision to openly state they will employ him as full time coach without first telling him.

Short of stating it was unprofessional conduct, Janza said he was not happy that a matter so demoralising to him was spoken out publicly a day before an international game which he found strange and against team spirit.

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya informed the FAZ Council at the annual general meeting (AGM) in Kabwe on Saturday that the technical committee after evaluating the performance of the Chipolopolo bench found them to be lesser than what they wanted and had opted for a foreign coach.

When asked about the matter in the post-match interview after watching the Chipolopolo win their first match in 2015, Janza openly expressed his displeasure and struggled to put his emotions in one place.

“That question is taking me where I don’t want to go because I may say something wrong but I must say that I am not happy. It’s not easy to hear that before an international game and it was very difficult for me to concentrate and win this game.

“What is surrounding me is not good. To take such matters to the media or even more to an AGM before I am told, is wrong. It’s a matter for management to talk but I don’t know, I am not happy,” he said.

He said if he was not wanted he was ready to leave, even now but preferred to be spoken to first.

  1. You have a point Coach, some people don’t respect other people’s feelings. When you were employed, they first spoke to you about it and when the time came for them to fire you they go to the AGM, that’s utter nonsense to me and it should come to an end. Let’s learn to respect each other.

    • Ba kalu all he wants is to find a musungu he can bribe and get a big cut from the muzungu he wants. balicha ba guy aba.
This mentality of everything can only be solved by muzungu is not good. black or muzungu coach all are the same. If the players are useless like we have today, even a muzundu coach can not win a cup.
Zambian players are not goal oriented but ukupika. In zed we celebrate imingalato more than goals. Ati anyway they played good although they lost. watch Cold De’vore and see how those boy are goal oriented not amasushi ati umusungu. that is why today a chinese is coming to fix a pothole becoz of inferiority complex

  2. I agree with Janza, Kalusha behaved like the immature CEO that he is. Ba Kalu, this is the time to grow up. There will never be another time

  3. An AGM is mandated to discuss all sorts, especially those points and personalities connected to the core business of its entity. It is therefore not surprising that this was on the agenda. That said it would be good to know to what depth the contract was discussed with the media. There are just certain matters that are not for public consumption.

  4. Whether told before going to the AGM or after, the truth would still have come out that FAZ preferred a foreign coach than Janza. Your performance Mr. Coach was not up to the required standard and we had to move as Zambia. We thank you for your services, just work on the mistakes you made and we will come back to you to ask for your services again. Efyo iya….

  5. Imwe!!! Janza a yende chabe. What has he done good for the team, Nothing. He chased good players and put players who can not perform. JUST GO MY BROTHER. Football has totally changed since you came in.

  6. Janza is right . All he is asking for is civility and its this kind of behaviour by FAZ that almost got banned by FIFA. The management of FAZ leaves much to desired.

They have no respect for contracts. They want to employ a foreign coach and yet they have no budgetary allocation for that. They hope government will bankroll them. shame!

  7. LT,
You left out the word “NOT” in paragraph 2.

    Check that paragraph.

That aside. FAZ behaved very unprofessionally. They behaved as though they are political authorities who beg to employ you, and fire you in public.

  8. Janza what is your problem? if you are not performing then you have to close the door from the outside and our natinal team has not been doing well so what where you expecting to hear? thta you have been employed as a permanent coah or you have been given a pay rise? NO your ignorance and failure to read the matches surely have cost you. Sober up and look for a job as coach for division 2 teams chapwa.

  9. There is nothing wrong with what Kalu did. I mean,as FAZ President (Management) he is answerable to the Councillors at the AGM. Deligates have seen how low the team performance has become and being major stakeholders in football, he owed them an explanation and he did just that. Lets be objective, if Kalu had said the performance is good and that FAZ would be offering Janza a new contract, he would have been smilling and possibly lost that game! Let us call a spade a spade and not a big spoon because a spoon will never be a spade no matter how big it will be, period!

  10. JANZA MUST GO AND REST! KALUSHA ALSO IS JUST MESSED! HE TOO MUST GO! HOW DO YOU RIDICULE YOUR EMPLOYEE LIKE THAT IN PUBLIC? KALUSHA MUST KNOW THAT THERES SUCH A THING AS KARMA! THE MEASURE YOU GIVE IS THE MEASURE YOU RECEIVE! TAKANYA BOYI! TULEKU TAIMA NAIWE!

  11. Why is Janza upset. The truth be told, he is a forth rate coach who cannot read a game let alone substitute at an appropriate time. Zambia winning when he is on the bench is sheer player initiative and luck.
    Let him trying farming.

  12. Kalu did not prepare for the question on Janza. He just reacted to a question from a delegate. Go to football house you will not find a plan to replace Janza. That’s how our soccer is run, on whims. The only serious agenda for AGM was third term.

  13. Janza saw it coming. He proved that he is un able to read the game. Selectiion of players was not up to scratch. Let Janza coach a club in the premier to prove himself. Kuya bebele.

  14. What kind of unprofessionalism is this ba FAZ? Janza, you are also partly to be blamed. How do you take up a job without a contract? You thought you were going to impress and subsequently be given the job, it doenst work like that, sorry.

  15. First and foremost, i wish to state that Kalusha Bwalya did not just speak about Janza ‘s contract or fate but was responding to the Question asked over the poor performance of the National Team. In order to tell the gathering the truth he just had to say what he said.
I dont think, there is any issue of being professional or un professional here.
Janza was on Sunday interview on of the Sundays after that poor show at the AFCON. the man couldn’t even express himself as man befiting his position.
So I think the decision by FAZ is well come and timely. We need results and not building the team every time. Ever time we lose, you talk of building the team. I think we need another coach for real.

  16. As much as we need a new National coach, new FAZ President and Administration. Kalusha should have been professional enough not to discuss Janza’s employment status in the manner he did. But then again what made me think Kalusha is a professional. And don’t tell me once professional footballer. All he could have said is that FAZ is critically evaluating the situation and is very confident a solution will be found soon.

Free advice to Janza. FIFA has rules and regulations concerning such. And I hope GRZ will bail him out this time.

For heaven sake why have we not given these FAZ chaps objectives which if they didn’t atten would show them the door!
