Mighty flop again in Lusaka

Share

Green Buffaloes on Sunday jumped into third place on the FAZ Super Division table after coming from behind to beat Mufulira Wanderers 2-1 in a week 10 encounter at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

This was Buffaloes’ third straight victory and Mighty’s second loss in a row.

The win pushed Bilton Musonda’s army side to 17 points, four behind leaders Zanaco who have one unplayed game.

In this lunch time kickoff match, Wanderers opened the scoring with a 15th minute penalty converted by defender Moses Loloji after referee Audrick Nkole penalised Felon Sitonya for handling in the box.

Mighty’s lead lasted for just ten minutes as Buffaloes equalised when Adrian Chama’s strike was deflected into the net by opposing defender Progress Kalenga.

More miseries were yet to come for the Mufulira side as Loloji changed moved from hero to zero when he put Buffaloes in the lead with an own goal after 38 minutes.

The ex-Indeni and Kitwe United defender beat his keeper Joshua Manyonga with a header following a Buffaloes cross from the right flank.

Elsewhere on Sunday, striker Junior Zulu scored on the stroke of full time as troubled Nakambala Leopards beat Napsa Stars 1-0 to record their first victory of the season.

Zulu scored with a spectacular bicycle kick from inside the box to see bottom placed Nakambala increase their tally to six points after ten games.

There were huge celebrations in the Nakambala camp as the referee blew the final whistle to end the match at Woodlands Stadium – the venue for the Sunday double-header.

  1. Its was shocking to watch Nkana play . It is as if for some reason, I had forgotten where the goal is… Lusaka Dynamos..very very impressive. What is happening at Nchanga? Kapalu and your late night football phone in …. see where your club is …

  2. We make silly mistakes that cost us in the two defeats against Zanaco and GBFC. We shall bounce back on Saturday at Shinde. We also need to strengthen the defence, midfield and perhaps buy one striker during the next transfer window. From what i have seen so far this season we shall definitely be in the top half of the season.

  3. At least ba Mighty were only beaten 2-1 but my other favourite team Liverpool were hammered 6-1, the worst defeat since 1954.
