Government releases funds to pay TAZARA workers

Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) Public relations officer Ernest Mwape has confirmed that government has released funds to pay four months’ salary arrears for the company workers in the country.

Mr. Mwape who confirmed the development in a press statement made available to ZANIS in Kasama today said the workers have since resumed work.

He explained that the funds released will cover four months’ Salary arrears for this year.

He further disclosed that yesterday government announced the release of funds to settle the outstanding arrears for TAZARA workers.

Two weeks ago, TAZARA workers went on strike demanding for their four months’ salary arrears.

  2. I hope after this government will no longer need to chip in to pay the salaries. Tazara needs to be more responsible and generate enough money to pay dividends to government as well as pay its workers.

  3. @ Hildah Malama your are very myopic, a retired worker should only be released and be given his benefits.
    The reason why TAZARA is holding to retired workers is the inability to pay them the packages .
