MISA condemns 2 PF MPs for perpetuating violence

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Chapter Chairperson Henry Kabwe has condemned acts of violence allegedly perpetuated by two Patriotic Front Members of Parliament (MPs) on a ZNBC news crew that went to cover a PF/UPND press briefing yesterday.

Mr Kabwe advised the MPs to lead exemplary lives so that the young people are able to cope.

He regretted that the two law makers could seek so low to engage in physical confrontations when expressing their views.

Mr Kabwe further said the recent alleged attacks on ZNBC reporters are an indication that the PF MPs are ignorant on the operations of Journalists.

He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today.

The MISA Zambia Chapter Chairperson has since challenged the opposition MPs to do the right thing and advocate for the implementation of the ZNBC amendment Act of 2002 which if passed would transform ZNBC into a public media organisation.

The named PF MPs are alleged to have warned the ZNBC news crew to stay away from UPND/PF functions and threatened to burn their vehicle.

  1. One of them must be Mumbi Phiri, shadow Minister for Ignorance and Violence in the PF government-in-waiting.

  2. As much as this sort of behaviour is unacceptable coming from M P’s , the ZNBC should also not show any bias in their reporting.
….I. suspect this is not just thuggish behaviour , but based on some genuine grievance.

  3. Very disappointing article. Probably written by MMD and given to LT. Why not mention the MPs? MISA fails to condemn Chalwe and the basta@rds who killed the marketeer at Chisokone market. What reasoning are they using to condemn PF MPs?

  4. Ama cadres.. burying your heads in the sand again!!!, “obviously there’s a reason”!! Oh my God. Violence is violence. Whether it’s by MMD cadres or PACT cadres, its all the same. It should just be condemned. They’r not even in power and already exhibiting such behaviour! Mukalila ba Zambia.. We shud not be seen to be supporting anyone even if they belong to our party. This is setting a bad precedent. I can just imagine a country in PF’s hands. Opposition takwakabe. No one will talk against GRZ. The little freedom of speech u r experiencing will go. I pity Post Newspapers with the deal they’v signed!! I really pity them. For their reputation to continue, they have to be opposing or digging deeper in GRZ circles releasing data. Put PF in power and the rest is stuff for imagination.

  5. Breaking news

Experts have just proven that PF was registered and has been campaigning under a plagiarized constitution it lifted from UNIP illegally. Now the former ruling party UNIP is preparing to sue Mr.Sata and his PF.Professional political Scientists,Policy analysts, Technical writters and scholars have just finished the foresinsic exams and are in evidence that line upon line and precept upon precept PF illegally lifted a legally protected Document from UNIP against the copyright laws of the Republic of Zambia. The investigations were launched follows the public revelation by the republican Vice President GK yesterday. It will be very interesting to learn how Mr.Sata will belabor to plead for integrity against this evidence of intellectual property crime in his presidential fold.

  6. L.T can you PLEASE do something about these MMD supporters who keep posting unrelated “Stories” from other websites into discussions.
    It is annoying.
It is a bad look on your readers input section.
It is poor administration especially when last week you asked readers to make the place respectable.
How about administration asking these certain spammers to knock it off or leave like they promised?
If by a small chance the SENILE person forgot which topic he was responding to then its simply an admin job to clean up the page here.
We wait and watch your next move.

  7. Politics pa Zed have now become battle fields for gangs….
All those that insults and have no goals or mention for our country are gangs, their only interest and ti win elections and continue wasting our resources. We need a Saviour to revise all this madness.

  8. ZAMIBA HAS TAKEN 2010 MNET FACE OF AFRICA. WELL DONE TO OUR LUKANDO NALUNGWE YOU HAVE DONE US PROUD DEAR. Just imagine without a coach she won the final, lol. Zambian women are so brave, hello Zambian men lets wake up or else will we continue pushing wheelbarrows and drinking shakie shakie all day!!!

  9. thats the way to go MPs..Znbc is very useless and are just there for madeco..they don’t even show anything on TV…kick them out!!
