Zambia: OUTSPOKEN former Southern province PF coordinator defects to MMD.

OUTSPOKEN former Southern province Patriotic Front (PF) coordinator Opper Hamiyanze has resigned from the PF and Joined the MMD.
Mr Hamiyanze had resigned along with Provincial PF treasurer Darius Hamusambo. This was during the Southern Province MMD card renewal exercise held in Choma today.
Tourism minister Catherine Namugala and southern province MMD chairman Solomon Muzyamba received the defectors.
Mr Hamiyanze said he had decided to leave the opposition PF and join the MMD because of the many development programmes southern province is benefiting from president Rupiah Banda’s administration.
He said the province had received a lot of tangible programmes making it difficult for the province to continue being controlled by the opposition.
“There are a lot of development projects in the province. There is no point to remain in the opposition,”Mr. Hamiyanze said.
He said he had also decided to resign because of the dark cloud hovering over the UPND/PF Pact especially over who the leader of the pact would be.
He said the there was no need to belong to the UPND/PF pact which was putting members in suspense and dilemma on who its leader was going to be.
He said the pact did not give any hope to Zambians saying only President Rupiah Banda’s administration can stir the country to greater heights of development.
And receiving the two defectors, Tourism minister Catherine Namugala said the MMD was a strong party but called for hard work among party officials in mobilizing the party.
She said there was need to strengthen grass root structures at branch, constituency and district level.
Ms Namugala said the MMD was vibrant party which could not be compared to any other political party.
She urged branch and constituency officials to organize the party in readiness for the upcoming elections next year.

Youths, analyze the political situation in our country. Not long, a few youths believed to be body guards & a driver of an important political party leader abducted, beat up and tortured Mr. Sam Zulu & Mr. Chileshe both outspoken PF youth leaders. The crime has not settled yet we see many more committing crimes & acts of thugery in the name of political parties or individuals. The laws of this country must be enforced in order to protect those who wish to thrive in peace.Lawyers should get busy to ensure that banditry is replaced by strategy in the political arena. Change is only good if we apply correct character analysis of those to whom we want to hand the power to. The MMD should include this as a key message in their already formidable campaign.

PF was so organized in SP hence his departure is a big blow to the PF. God, I did not even know that they have PF in SP and this so called organizer to even be given space in Zambian papers shows how the papers are being run. Does anyone teach ethics to our Journalism students at UNZA or Evelyn Hone or Africa Literature Center? If so, how come we have people like Times and Daily Mail reporters and *** ****** (Senior Citizen, Veteran)? Hey kwandangala, please enlighten me on ethics in journalism in Zambia. What has happened? Is it greed or some kind of selfishness that creeps into these people’s minds?

Hey Kalos2020, PF got more votes in Southern province than either Eastern or Western province in 2008. What little PF presence in Southern Province is because of Hamiyanze. That’s why he is newsworthy. Actually PF is now dead there just as it is totally dead and buried in Luapula province. The problem is that PF is forcing a person regarded by many as an undemocratic flip flop buffoon. He now insults Mwanawasa hinterland after insulting North Western Province in 2006! This Chap Sata is unelectable twapapata mwenfumu mwe.

I really don’t know who the buffoon is. The one calling his friend Buffoon or the one being called buffoon. I have met Sata, but I don’t know if I would call him a buffoon because he is in opposition. Sata has a following, and this is very true, whether you like it or not. So, calling him a buffoon is like calling all those Zambians who like and follow him buffoons. Is that what you want to do?

So, # 8, what you are saying is that even those in Southern and other provinces who voted for him could be buffoons too.

Hamiyanze wants to stand as a candidate next year and being a PF member he will not be adopted in Southern province. He thinks that the best chance for him to adopted in the next elctions is through the MMD. He is ashamed of his past behaviour of insulting HH for no reason so he can not go back to UPND. That is why in politics and life in general it is important to respect others because tommorrow you may need them.
