  1. Well, one needs to stretch their imagination here: the title and first sentence suggest that unemployment is only 16% while in the text further below it’s said 86% and 74% by gender are unemployed.
If indeed unemployment is 16%, what’s the definition as we know alot of what they call employment is just casualised, disguised unemployment. Really disburbing news that nearly 1 in 3 Zambian workers is illetrate. This cant be good for FDI.
A suggestion of increment is made without indicating from what previous level and year.

  2. Perhaps Goverment should reduce the “red tape” associated with opening a business in Zambia..eg..took me 3 weeks just to register a company..3 weeks!!!!

  3. Its up to the government to do something about this all alarming figures, i suggest that instead of stealing those billions they should channel it them in some way to job creation!!!!

  6. It is indeed very sad that unemployment has risen to alarming levels where in other countries across the world there are riots and demonstrations, think of Tunisia, Niger delter to name a few. I, Stembridge Mwangala as a founder President of FACE-Zambia, encourage fellow Zambians and Africans to join hands with FACE and advocate to create Jobs that will reduce poverty and HIV/AIDS. Please stop looking to Governements all the time. It simply doesn’t work out that way! Stembridge Mwangala.

  7. From the above comments in relation to the stats given above, one tends to wonder what the pronouncements really mean when the politicians say that there is economic growth in the country.the levels of unemployment is on the increase. The government should create opportunities in the labour intensive sectors such as manufacturing, tourism and agriculture.
