Maureen describes Laura’s visit to Zambia as inspiring

Share

First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa has described the visit by her American counterpart Laura Bush as a great inspiration to Zambia’s efforts in fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the country and the African continent as a whole.

Speaking in an interview with Zambian journalists at Mututa Memorial Day Care Centre in Lusaka East which the two first ladies visited, Mrs. Mwanawasa said America is ranked as high in status in the world and therefore a visit by its first lady was honourable.

Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that Mrs Mwanawasa said the
visit was an inspiration to all local and continental initiatives that were aiming
at easing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Zambian and African communities.

“Let me say that as Zambians we are very excited about this visit by American First
Lady, As you know America has a high status, this inspires us to continue doing what we are doing here,” she said.

Mrs. Mwanawasa who was in the company of American Ambassador to Zambia, Carmen
Martinez, further said Zambia has received a lot of assistance from the American initiatives in the fields of health and education among others.

She said such assistance would help advance Zambia’s efforts towards achieving the
Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015.

“But to achieve this, we must be in partnership with such organisations,” she said.

On the US$300,000 donated to the Organisation of African First Ladies by the Joint
United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the President’s Emergence
Programme for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) initiative for Africa, Mrs. Mwanawasa said this
would effectively advance the work of the organisation.

She pointed out that the donation would help OAFLA implement its programmes on the
continent effectively, adding that the funds would further help strengthen the organisation’s secretariat.

She said soon, OAFLA would hold its fifth annual meeting in Accra, Ghana.

Mrs. Mwanawasa pledged that the money would be used wisely.

Earlier, Mrs. Bush said in her key speech at the same place, that UNAIDS has given
OAFLA US$300,000 to support its activities on the continent.

She told the gathering that the American government was very happy with the works of
OAFLA in fighting the AIDS pandemic.

She praised Mrs. Mwanawasa for her endeavours in the fight against the pandemic and
her efforts to support vulnerable children and women.

And Ambassador Martinez said her government has given  Zambia over US$196 million to be spread over a period of three years.

Earlier in the day, the two first ladies posed for a photo at State House, visited
Regiment School in Arakan barracks, before going to Mututa centre where a lot of HIV/AIDS testimonies were told by affected people.

Mrs Bush who started her tour to Africa in Senegal focussing on anti Aids
programmes, women rights and education leaves for Mali after her visit to Zambia.

  1. Stop being a Muzungu wanga madam. Just welcome her without extolling high status that you know nothing about. High status of killing 600,000 Iraqis?

  2. # Laura should have donated that money to UTH so that people stop dying from Lumbar puncture, we need modern equipment at UTH

  3. Kuku#3 Ba Joze is in Mfuwe relaxing he appeared shortly this afternoon I think you were gone ku ma orders. She cant donate lives of Africans is useless wherever we are. Instead they went to visit some funny school. If I was Maureen I was have taken her to UTH to see the reality of a Zambian hospital and the impact it has on patients. This reminds me of the my former headmaster who used to make us clean the school premises when KK was visiting. On this day even the best animal would be slaughter for the visiting Wamuyaya. This haunted me very much because we the children we never had the best meal 364 days in a year. Kuku# have realised why this clean Zambia campaign was launched last friday, clearly we dont want to show the real face of ourselves. We like pretending- that is how Africans are. In western countries cleaning of the citiés and dwelling areas is done everyday. The govt pump in money in those companies doing this job.

  4. Kuku..! you know what happens when our government receives money? what we need is the actual equipment and not money? otherwise the money will end up with another Bulaya!

The visit by the first lady is actually good publicity for zambia. Thanks for the visit Laura, she would have opted to take a vacation her ranch in Texas. But she is zambia trying to make a difference!

Thanks again first lady for the visit to zambia.

  5. Russians test ballistic missile
Russia has successfully tested a new, sea-based ballistic missile from a nuclear submarine, officials have said. The weapon, capable of breaching anti-missile defence systems, flew almost the whole length of the country.
US plans to build a missile defence shield in Europe have angered Russia, which sees the proposal as a challenge to its influence in the region. The Russian test comes as President Vladimir Putin heads for the US to meet President George W Bush on Sunday.’Key component’ The Bulava missile was launched from the White Sea off Russia’s north-west coast. The intercontinental missile hit its target on the Pacific Ocean peninsula of Kamchatka.Three earlier tests of the weapon in recent years had failed.
The Bulava is designed to have a range of 10,000km (6,200 miles) and carry six individually targeted nuclear warheads.Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the missile as a key component of Moscow’s future nuclear forces, saying it can penetrate any prospective missile defence system.

  6. She has come to africa, because she knows will be out
of the white house soon. What was she doing the whole of
this time.Napwa no white house any more.

  7. #4 Easy mwaice wandi you finger is right on so is Tonga bull, mwalasa baice.Putting up appearance, ‘Keep Zambia clean’from nowhere???? Paparazzi can you explain the logic? Those smelly allies between cairo rd and Chacha road are they part of keep Zambia clean?Africans are jokers , if you went round Arakan school, the class rooms have internet and air freshners…its a shame to be African, even electronic boards were installed, kids packed their Jelita and Mulenga and were reading Charles Dickens write ups, mawe mawe indagambwa musaa, cilatondwa, ci nze ci?indagatala ba sankwa aba, bafubafuba

  8. #7 Iwe Kadansa no ku dansa tawaishiba uli wa dobo sana. People are discussing ‘faces of Africa’ you are busy bringing the Putin mafia here?Come on contribute on the subject matter dobo ingayapwa mucimutwe

  9. #7 Kadansa, as Kuku says too,you are the people Putin sent for Alexander with the Polonium 210.
Your colleagues are having coffee or tea, you, you include polonium 210.
Cant you see people are discussing the visit of the most influential man’s wife and you bring missiles.
Anyway, you are not the first one on this blog to divert a topic.

  10. Ba Kasanda7# stop talking about Putin here we are talking about Laura and she should have done for Zambia. Be careful one day he will put Polenium on your domitery. Kuku# your information after computerized school is disgusting. Its not long ago I heard our Plot 1 talking about the ICT companies connecting school. Mawe mawe these privilliged children lucky they are to be reading Charles Dickens and Harry Potter when my nieces and nephews in Kalabo are still using the ground to learn how to write. Paparazzi will give us an explaination on this one he can articulate himself very. I just hope the clean campaign will continue because in Kaunda era these were routine. Kwena ba Mudaala balibomba,Iye Pundit has ZESCO shedding stop or we still have black out.

  11. The objective of the first lady of the USA’s visit to Zambia and other three African countries is clear and straight forward. It depends on the seriousness of the host country to show the real scenario on the ground. If I went to USA, it would be silly for my host to treat me to a meal of nshima with delele.I am so used to it that I would not even appreciate. That is the kind of mentality we have in Zambia.Somebody comes from highly mechanized country with schools that use digital systems, you decide to take her to a similar school, Why?Not far from town in Ngombe Township, we have schools where children barely sit on the ground without floor and desks, why wasn’t Laura taken there. We have areas like Garden compound where mosquitoes which transmit malaria are highly visible even during day time because they breed along Ngwelele River. Why was Laura not taken there? Donating of mosquito nets is not a sustainable solution. The solution is to work on the streams to ensure that breeding of mosquitoes is disturbed. We have people in ward E21 or E22 at UTH who are suffering from AIDS related diseases, why was Laura not taken there. All the little dancing and laughter which Laura alluded to could not have happened had she been treated to the actual scenes of the subject of her visit. She could have even decided to contribute maybe half of the money that was floated for Africa. But in this case, she will be going back with a wrong notion as compared to the literature review she did before undertaking the trip. The videos she watched about mosquitoes and malaria, and HIV/AIDS related diseases in Zambia and what our embassy told her in Washington. All this is contrary to what she is physically observing.Hey fellow Zambians, let us work up and be serious

  12. muzungu wanga must come to an end. If you do not have the courage of just saying thank you without mentioning things which are not necessary, then just keep quiet. It does not mean any superiority or status as you had put it in your contex if somebody from USA or Britain steps on zambian soil. Those are signs of desperations.

  13. Ba Matthews Silavwe – USA reading your statement i quote “if somebody from USA or Britain steps on zambian soil. Those are signs of desperations” end quote. And what does it tell about you from Zambia in the USA as a refuge in their land?

  14. NUMBER 6. ARE TONGA BULLS STILL OKAY WITH SO MUCH DEKETE AND FOOT AND MOUTH SICKNESS. IT IS GOOD TO BE CALLED SICK TONGA BULL AND NOT TONGA BULL WHEN ALL
THE ANIMALS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE ARE SINCE. CARE DON’T MISS USE NAMES CHAP BECAUSE THIS IS A RULE OF LAW

  15. #7 Kadansa,
There was a man by the name of Kadansa during the UNIP error who lived at the after care centre in Matero Lusaka. He was the only one who could challenge Dr. Kaunda in the open within the city centre where people would gather and pass time listening to his attacks at luch hour. The police could do nothing but also join in and listen. But his attacks had no direction.I do not know whether this Kadansa we have on the blog now is a resurrcted Kadansa we had or his grand but with similar traits. Please focus on the topic do not mislead us.And you Lozi Bull, this is no time to do chimbuya, we want your contributions.

  16. Hey bloggers! Leave the first ladies alone. Let them enjoy their fantasies. Laura knows the other side of Zed. She knows about the mosquitoes and the chronically ill. She sees image on CNN. And by the way, what do you think is the job of PEACE CORPS from USA stationed in remort areas of Zambia?

  17. who told you that there are no mosquitoes and chronically ill people in the USA? Even here people die in their homes for luck of medical care because they have no insurance. hospitals here are a business and not a service to the people. Have you ever waited for more than 6 hrs at at the hospital before you are seen by a Dr in Zambia? it takes that long on average in the USA!!

  18. BE SOBER WHEN PICKING MY SUCCESSOR WARNS LEVY
By JOY SATA and CHISHALA MUSONDA
PRESIDENT Mwanawasa has urged the nation to be sober when choosing his successor in 2011.Speaking on arrival at Ndola International Airport yesterday, Mr Mwanawasa said the country should pick a successor who would continue with the policies his administration had started when he took over office in 2001.He observed that many political parties had the tendency of engaging in populist measures that swayed people’s aspirations.”Because populist ideas are being preached, I can see a lot of political parties instead of saying the way it is, they would say the way it should be in order for them to be elected,” he said.“Under those circumstances, we would not elect a good successor in 2011.We must be sober and determined to forge on and determined to improve our living standards.”The President criticised Patriotic Front president Michael Sata who he said was hell-bent on fighting him.He reiterated that after 2011, he would not be a relevant factor and advised Mr Sata to wait until then to fight whoever would be his successor.“I have said so many times, and I will repeat it, that after 2011, I will not be a relevant factor. If he should fight anybody, let him wait until after the elections of 2011. He will know who the President is,” he said.President Mwanawasa was saddened that Mr Sata admitted that he had intentions to embarrass him at the launch of the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) on Tuesday.Mr Sata was yesterday reported in The Post newspaper to have confirmed the MMD ‘s fears to make him deliver a vote of thanks to President Mwanawasa ‘s speech. He is reported to have admitted that he wanted to embarrass the President had he been allowed to give a vote of thanks.“In 2011 I will just be a voter. So if he concentrates on embarrassing me, let him go ahead. Meanwhile, our presidential candidate will continue making headway, especially here on the Copperbelt. We should recapture Copperbelt,” he said, amid shouts of approval from cadres that welcomed him.The President said he was happy to be on the Copperbelt and stated that people had complained that they had not met him in a long time.He requested Copperbelt Province Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima and MMD provincial chairman, Terence Findlay to arrange for a meeting where he would meet the people.Mr Mwanawasa is in Ndola to officiate at the 43rd Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF), which will be officially opened today by Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President, Joseph Kabila. The President was welcomed by ministers of Home Affairs, Lieutenant-General Ronnie Shikapwasha, Commerce, Trade and Industry, Felix Mutati, and deputy ministers, senior party officials and defence chiefs. He was accompanied by Minister of Health Brian Chituwo.

  19. THIS MESSAGE IS LOUD AND CLEAR NOTHING CONCEALED HERE

If Sata should fight anybody, let him wait until after the elections of 2011. “He will know who the President is,” he said.

“He will know who the President is,”

“He will know who the President is,”

“He will know who the President is,”

“He will know who the President is,”

  20. chusi USA. Western propaganda tells us they wiped mosquitoes using DDT sometime back. They dont show us the chronically ill. All they show us is Africa and Asia as having AIDS, Malaria and malnutrition. They tell us of how good their medical system is. Chusi, all these are lies. Then Cuba is the best in the whole world.

  21. Zambians will never cease to amaze me. The wife of the president of the most powerful nation on earth is in Zambia and its a small issue?

Get me right, this has nothing to do with being a muzungu wannabe. We talking about status here. I would say the same if it was the wife of Koffi Anani.

A few weeks ago I was watching MU TV on DSTV. There was this documentary about Manchester United in Collaboration with UNICEF visting an opharnage in Lusaka. Heading the Manchester United entourage was the CEO of Manchester United Mr. David Gill. We are talking about a powerful man here. But most of you would agree with me that you never even knew Mr. Gill and Manchester United were in the country.

This was an opportunity to make money out of this important man and football club. Money that the opharnage could have used for some good years to come.

How many people would have paid just to see Mr. Gill if such an event was put up.

Laura Bush has come and will go just like that????

  22. #23 EasyE,
You are very right. I think the country is so hungry that good ideas like yours are no longer there. All we are thinking of when it is morning time are issues pertaining to what am I going to feed on today. Telling somebody about Manchester’s or Laura’s visit is like insulting them. That is the level of poverty stricken we have reached in Zambia. Can’t you see that very few individuals celebrate xmass, independence and any other day that is of national interest?

  23. CONSULT, KUNDA ADVISED
By JOY SATA and CHISHALA MUSONDA
PRESIDENT Mwanawasa has instructed Minister of Justice, George Kunda, to work with the MMD political leadership to study the draft constitution before coming up with proposals to submit to the Zambia Centre for Inter-Party Dialogue (ZCID).Mr Mwanawasa said the leadership would meet to consider what proposals to make to the ZCID that would be meeting soon. He said this on arrival at the Ndola International Airport yesterday.” If we are able to agree, and we will agree, the Government will be in a position to prepare a bill or bills which will be submitted to Parliament for adoption as amendments to the constitution,” Mr Mwanawasa said. The President said some parts of the constitution such as Part III, which required the holding of a referendum, would remain untouched until after the exercise was held. Government had already started preparations for the referendum.” If the referendum is successful, a Constitutional Conference will be held, which will approve what constitutional amendments should be made. Once the conference approves the amendments, the bills will be prepared and sent to Parliament for legislation,” he said. President Mwanawasa said he did not expect members of Parliament (MPs) to find it difficult to adopt the recommendations of the Constitutional Conference because they would be part of the process before legislation. He said the MPs would be putting a rubber stamp to something they were party to formulating.” I am certain that we have broken the impasse and we should have a constitution that is people-driven,” he said. The President, however, said some people in the country did not want peace and always wanted to agitate.” If one works for peace, to them it seems as though they have been thrown on an army of red ants,” he said.” But do not support them. Let ‘s say they are irrelevant. This country faces numerous challenges that must be attended to…challenges of development.” Over the past six years, my colleagues and I have worked so hard to overcome some of them. We haven’t finished all of them and we will not finish by the time I end my term of office.” He said a lot could have been achieved if some people were not opposing for the sake of opposing. President Mwanawasa said that when he launched the ZCID, he stated that the constitution-making roadmap should be given a chance. But some people, he said, felt like they had been thrown on an army of red ants and they keep jumping from one side to the other. He warned that he would not allow anyone bent on inconveniencing the Zambian people. He urged citizens to stop those engaged in activities aimed at destroying democracy. He said he was happy that he would be with Democratic Republic of Congo President, Joseph Kabila, who would be guest of honour at the Trade Fair. He was happy that the leadership in DRC was being encouraged to “swim in the same river as Zambia.” He said he wanted this to be replicated in all of Zambia’s neighbors so that relief could be brought to the suffering masses in the region. He said relief could not be brought into the country if strife was being encouraged. And CHARITY MUSA reports that Copperbelt MMD chairman, Terrence Findlay, said the party was happy to hear of the success in dialogue brokered with the opposition parties over the roadmap to adopt a new constitution. Mr Findlay said the MMD on the Copperbelt was happy with the willingness by the opposition to dialogue on the constitution making process. But the provincial chairman said any opposition leader trying to distract the efforts of dialogue by means of embarrassing President Mwanawasa had taken a wrong path. Mr Findlay was referring to Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata ‘s decision to withdraw and his intentions to embarrass the President at the launch of the ZCID on Tuesday.” If a small party wants to pull out…it should do so, but dialogue must go on with the other opposition parties.I beg Mr Sata to rejoin the dialogue, “Mr Findlay said. And Copperbelt Minister, Mwansa Mbulakulima, said the province was focusing on a higher crop yield although there was a reduction in the harvest the previous season.Mr Mbulakulima said that the projected harvest this season was 165,000 metric tonnes of maize but the province only managed 130,000 metric tonnes. He said the reason for the reduction in the harvest was due to heavy rains experienced in February and March.

  24. It’s politics nothing else. If the Americans are so interested in helping Zed they should first of all do away with their own problems that their country has. ”That the USA is the best country in the world” is an ILLUSION. We got people in the USA who die coz they can’t afford to pay for medication. If you want to see a country with the best medicare go to CUBA. The USA does not even measure up to countries like Sweden and Norway in the standard of living. If you really want to know how the USA is,investigate on how they treat their poor citizens. Please people don’t think of Hollywood when you are thinking of the USA. They have people living and sleeping on streets and not far from Pensillvania 1600(the white house) and you think they care about Zed think again it’s politicsc. Tip, watch the next MICHAEL MOORE film documentary called SICKO it’s about the medical system in the USA. Michael Moore took some of the people who were affected during 9-11 to CUBA for proper medicare.

  25. #26 funya data, share this with Paparrazi, may be he is based in Arizona the most neglected area.
#20 your man is just comfirming one thing, the man who woke him at midnight to become Presida was not sober at all and this must not repeat. If I were him I would be bold to talk about it not beat about the bush.AM still researching for ZCID data, but you know Ndola the library only has newspapers, just wait Paparrazi you will have the data shortly inganabwela ku ma order na council meeting

  26. Yes Lombe Chulu you are right two days ago there was an article of 11th September 2001 hero who went with Michael Moore to Cuba, The USA govt have taken this many to court. But why? The Venezulain Prisident Yugo was give up out diesel and parafin to the power the city of New York. We should not be cheated this is just a race of mineral resources because USA thought could fool the people all the time by saying you dont have this and that. Now China, Cananda, India, and Australia are here exploring these minerals which the armies claimed not to be available. Lombe is 100% right scandivain countries do case of its citizen apart from Belgium which is another DR Congo in Europe. Hi Kuku you have stopped contributing immediately I made a break. I was in a Meeting as you today is the last day of the week. Has he paid or not. I have read your article over KK its sad for the old man to be treated like that he is the father of the nation. I had wished him to enjoy his last days.

  27. #29 Easy mwaice ifwe twaliba busy, ingataubazile ninshi ethopia ku boma pa level,KK alikwata muzulu nomba akaso, you see now how things are unfolding for a founding father? When I told you last time that ‘ubufumu bucindika umwine’ you were busy making assumptions, this man has money but you wonder where he is going to spend it if he cant use it now. This very unstateman.Mwaice the bible is very clear blessed is the hand that giveth……..naya nomba take charge

  28. Ba Lombe Chulu, Spare the first lady. You see we have become so critical about anything to an extent that we even want to critisize well wishers.

I dont think Laura’s comming to Zambia means there are no problems in USA. Even you Ba Lombe Chule #26 and Easy # 29 have at one time helped a street kid but that doesnt mean that you dont have relatives in your family who would require the same help.

I am sure the first lady is here for a noble cause. Come on what politiking can Laura do in Zambia?

Personally am glad that people like Laura Bush can choose to come to a country like Zambia. Not Long ago we had Bill gates’ wife here on a malaria mission. We’ve also had the Presdient of china mr Hu a few months ago. This is a good sign. Who knows what report Laura will take to the USA.

  29. I had done a bit of research on the failed third term bid for FTJ. I found out that a neutral man chaired the Inter party dialogue and it included the civil societies and the churches. The name of the man is Bishop Stephen Mumba of the Anglican church. So I hope as we proceed we need to consider this we should no just concluded that all right as long as Kalumba is chairman. In addition, to the CRC one of the problem and I hope the president is right when he says Kunda should consultant, the minister refused a clause clause 72 of crc and article 19. He argued that this clause compromises state security because it provides access to information by citizens. But Zambia is a member of ICCPR since 1984 which provides that in a democractic nation its citizens have the rightand freedom access of information and say their opionons, debate openly. This is foundation of freedom of expression & access to information. Article 19 talks about journalist freedom on how they collect..

  30. #26 Lombe Chulu,
I very much agree with you. But you should realise that the off spring of capitalism require that kind of spectrum where you have the richest and the poorest. It is not like socialism where things are abit balanced. Those conutries you are mentioning in Europe have a mixed approach. Though capitalism is at the helm there are some concepts of socialism. That is why you find their communities a little bit balanced. That aside, I agree with you very much that it is all about politics. Had that Zambian woman not been appointed to be an AIDS advocate within the United Nations, Laura Bush could not have steped her feet here. USA is UN and UN is USA. That is the reason why Zambia was put on the agenda. Otherwise she could have solely gone to South Africa and back not even touching Mozambique.

  31. #26 Lombe, dont be misled by those people living/sleeping on the streets.
There is a phrase which says “If America sneezes, the entire world catches the cold..”
America is a capitalist, and capitalist’s don’t believe and tolerate lazy people hence you find those sleeping in the streets. The same are american’s and are given the same opportunities as everyone in the whole country. Those who can’t manage to work as a result of some disabiliity have the right to apply for the welfare. Why should you compare USA to Sweden/Norway when Sweden/Norway have a minimal population but high taxes. You should compare USA to EU and find which has the best economy and standard of living?
First, lets investigate how Africa treats the poor people, then you can compare to USA.

  32. ctd.. of information they are not required to disclose how or who is the source of the information. Remember in the Bill of Rights freedom of expression and information access are cornerstones if all our fundamental rights. Article 19 of the universial Declaration of Human Rights states ” Everyone has the right to freedom of opion $ expression, this includes freedom to hold opions without interference& seek, recieve and impart information and ideas through any media regarsless of its kind. You see the Nigerian President has just declared his assets in order to help fight corruption. His wealth is purged at $5 million Dollars. Will Kalumba Katele declare his assets too, PLM can do the same. Ba Mama Maureen we heard you were given 300 000 USA dollars use this money proper for the benefit of the sick Zambians. Pundit what happened are you disappointed because Kuku has changesd Dr.HK to go Doctors corner.

  33. I had done a bit of research on the failed third term bid for FTJ. I found out that a neutral man chaired the Inter party dialogue and it included the civil societies and the churches. The name of the man is Bishop Stephen Mumba of the Anglican church. So I hope as we proceed we need to consider this we should no just concluded that all right as long as KAKA is chairman.

  34. 37# Nktataboy thank you the problem is you can divide between context and content as we are discussing Laura we should note lose site of the this very important issue which will affect our lives until death. I think these fora is good because we can educate each other in many issues. I just requested for CRC I told it costs K40 000.00 who has this many when people dont have food on the table and those who want to get its not found on bookshelves. Kayata you should not live on illussions I wonder if you are living in a foreign country right now. Plz someone has told you to ask and question before you base you points. I dont think you have talked to those people sleeping on the street.Have you asked people who dont have health insurance. Go to countries like Germany where you find govt to have put in place policies that its a must that you a health insurance. After all if you dont have one it doesnt deny you to get free treatment. Dont talk being lazy and equal opportunities

  35. #36. Easy
It is true that we must seek a chairman who “more neutral”. I think that is not the issue here.

What we must emphasize is that KAKA was not put there by MMD. Info reaching my desk indicates that KAKA was actually voted into that office way back.

If you listened to the Minister of Information yesterday, he actually said that Guy Scot was among the people who voted for KAKA into that office. So it is wrong to paint a picture that MMD is imposing KAKA on us!!! The opposite is true.

Shame on PF and their unprincipled actions which are derailing progress. VIVA new constytyooshun!!!

  36. Lombe I agree with you very much that the visit of Laura Bush to Zambia is endowed with politics. Can’t you see what GRZ has done on the trade fair?Inviting Kabili to officiate so that GRZ can have easy access to Congolese businessman, Raphael Soriano who was charged together with Chiluba over plundering of the Zamtroop account.

  37. Katyata, you are proberbly right but my friend not every homeless person in the USA is lazy. Capitalism I believe is the real reason why we have all these problems in the world and not laziness, were the rich prey on poor. You have people in the USA who have two jobs just to make ends meet and you are still talking about laziness. You should tell this to the the parents of America who never have time for their children and the veterans of all the wars that USA has been involved in. USA and it’s capitalism is a murderer and you my friend choose your words correctly. IT ALL POLITICS AND CAPITALISM THE RICH BECOME RICHER AND THE POOR, WELL YOU FIGURE IT OUT.

  38. Born Rich 39# I am a very fair person but I think KAKA is secretary of MMD this bends the who think Zambians are suspious. We want this to be done on a orderly manner find an acceptance by all Zambians. It will be unfair on this issue that agroup of people continue opposing it. If we want our democracy to work we have to compromise and we non politicans we are say ok the process should go ahead but KAKA has been rejected not because we hart him but he has case in court which doesnt qualify him to spearhead this very important issue. Did you get some Dollars from Laura. BR the president has said they will consultant widely. Remember we need a constitution which will save us for next 100 years. If Kalumba was voted for this sometime along ago maybe he had a good record now this have chanced. Kuku where is your stand ku Trade fair.

  39. Pundit where are you when are trying feasibility studies of our project to DR Congo. The two countries are partnering the president has just opened the Ndola Trade fair.

  40. Ba Easy in # 32, freedom of information and membership in ICCPR does not mean jeopardizing state secrets or high level classified information mostly related to operations. Under no circumstance could there be a justification to breach such classified information or the constitutionally protected operative under the 1973 Act of the laws of homeland. It is a serious offense for the one found to bring such a security compromise. This law is applicable and reinforced in many democracies.

  41. Easy #43. All iam trying to do is to set the records strainght. There is an impression here that KAKA was imposed by MMD. That is wrong. KAKA was voted for!! And guess what? Not by MMD. So? It is not MMD who must remove KAKA. It is th people who voted him in and that includes Guy Scot.

There must be legitimate means of removing KAKA from that position. It will not happen by bycots of the same people who vote for him!!! And the sad thing is that they are the ones who have created the wrong impression that KAKA was just imposed on them.

I think my argument is fair. te?

  42. ZAMBIA TO GET EXTRA $266 MLN IN U.S. AIDS FUNDS
    Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:45PM EDT
LUSAKA (Reuters) – Zambia will receive an extra $266 million in U.S. help to fight AIDS, officials said on Thursday, as U.S. first lady Laura Bush launched the distribution of 500,000 mosquito nets in the African country.U.S. Global AIDS coordinator Mark Dybul said Zambia would get a total of $800 million over five years from the United States President’s 2003 Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which ends in 2008.Dybul said the United States, which initially planned to give Zambia $534 million in the first four years of the PEPFAR program, had raised the amount to $800 million to cover five years.Dybul met journalists as Laura Bush began a tour of the country to check on U.S-funded AIDS and malaria projects, part of a four nation African tour by the U.S. first lady.Zambia numbers among the southern African countries worst affected by Africa’s HIV/AIDS pandemic, with an estimated one in five of the nation’s 11.7 million people carrying the virus.”We need broader efforts to fight the AIDS pandemic and to prevent new infections especially in Africa because this is were there are 70 percent of AIDS orphans,” Dybul said.Laura Bush said 500,000 mosquito nets would be distributed in Zambia to protect more than one million children from contracting malaria through mosquito bites. Malaria kills more people than AIDS every year in Zambia.”This program has one goal . . . to eliminate malaria in Africa,” she said after visiting schools, AIDS clinics and community help projects.Zambian first lady Maureen Mwanawasa said stigma was the biggest challenge facing AIDS campaigners in her country.”Stigma remains a silent but powerful opponent in the fight against AIDS and we need to tackle it,” she said.More than 25 million people globally have died of AIDS, an incurable disease that ravages the body’s immune system, since it was first recognized more than a quarter of a century ago.About 40 million live with HIV, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, where the virus is spread primarily through heterosexual sex.

  43. Oarth to Patriotism#44, I can see where you are heading to but let me tell you this putting in place such a law doesnt imply any insecurity for homeland. After all instead it increase the security because every Zambian will guard jealousy against an evil to our country. You mean stealing from govt coffers is classified information. Zambia is not at war and we dont have Mushala. All we need is to put in place laws which will protect us all not individuals. Other countries yes have such meachnisism but in case of anything happening and its a public interest this information can be accessed and reviewed. Where are we living this Dark stone Age.

  44. #26. Lombe Chulu
Let us not just criticise for the sake of criticising. Nowonder there is so much poverty in Africa…….Because of people with your type of thinking!!!!
    Grow up and be objective!!!

  45. KATYATA, I think you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. Laziness mwana iyayi iwee!!! Lets not look at how the USA treats it’s poor but Africa, you are right aout that. GRZ buys ama expensive cars so that the HARD WORKERS should driving around and picking up thier girlfriends when that ndalama can be used to feed and improve the living standardS of some of our people in ZED and you still talking about LAZINESS ala iwee. Capitalism uh,wake up my friend we will one day wake to find that our beloved ZAMBIA does not even belong to the Zambians, KATYATA YOU AND YOU CAPITALISM. That is why FIDEL CASTRO did not want anything to do the USA and it’s capitalism and my friend they have fought him for decades and failed CUBA is a poor country not because of LAZY CUBANS but because of the so capitalists who have put trade embargos on CUBA and you are still talking about equal opportunity. Why not let CUBA compete on the world market? What, does your so capitalism give equal opportunities?

  46. Born rich # 48.
You are so lost my friend keep to the subject and let me clarify it for you POVERTY REDUCTION.

  47. Lombe Chulu #50, We are talking about Laura Bush’s Vist and the Fight againts HIV/AIDS in Zambia. Just appreciate what Laura is here to do.

The American govt is giving Zambia over US$196 million Tax payers money to be spread over a period of 3 years. Politics aside, this is good money that can make a difference for Zambia if well utilised.

Dont just critiisize for the sake of critisizing. Try to be objective in your judgements on this issue. It doesnt hurt to do so!!!

  48. Easy, you are missing the basis of my argument there. All am saying is that Freedom of information does not hold a caveat on criminal activities such as the inhumane plunder of the Chiluba-Chungu era of which no service man has the conscious to protect their acts.Where the National Security Council which has been actively and responsibly operational ever since deems the inquiry at hand has no criminal nature beyond reasonable doubt but sensitive security operations in national interest, it is very appropriate to uphold the “need to know” principle come what may against the FI act. E.G Chiluba’s acts all fall flat on that hence the trouble. Had those criminals been facilitating usual and very necessary operations funds to operatives in national interest instead of concubines and outfits in Europe, not even your FI could induce any grain of data. Criminality has no protection whereas Certified state secrets must be protected. The USA where you are is one such country that is highly secretive on national security matters. The CIA just started releasing obsolete pieces now after 35 years

  49. Lombe Chulu#49 educate Kayata real he has lost truck. Why are you going far to Cuba. Cuba has survived this aggreatio for 48 years. Just look at Zimbabwean economy has been cripled through Embargo and sanctions. Go to Meditterean sea, Red sea and see how the west try to divert Oil meant for Zimbabwe away. They even read to it a double the price. Laziness is not a discuss here but equal opportunities. Exploitation has been the order of the day. Some people believe the cake is becoming small. Ask yourself how can a almost the whole nation be sick of HIV. Our forefathers have been living and eating same food but they lived longer. They had more than one wife and they have been on dying young as it in our times. Everyday I become suspious and in the wrong run you will prove me right.

  50. #3 Kuku and #1 can we try to understand why Laura visited Z before talking about things that are completely irrelevant to her Visit. The US government has been working with african countries through the office of the first lady on the HIV/AIDS issue. Their job is to provide logistical support or make funds available for procurement of ARVs and other related items partinent to the HIV fight. This has been going on for more than 3 years now. Her visit was a progress assesment tour. What she expected to be told is how the project was going looking at the progress veses challenges being faced in the implementation of the project. As a result of her visit Zambia is getting an extra $266M for HIV/AIDS projects. Need i remind you that there are more than 54 countries in africa, but she chose Zambia. Some of you just want to get off Maureen. go ahead but Laura has nothing to do with our internal politics. Her visit was genuine and she should be aplouded for that.

  51. 52# Oarth you are coming in the right direction. At this level we cannot differ I dont know any normal Zambian would would wan to review state securities let alone insane FTJ with state house tunnels. Senstive national interest are seducous information they will alway be treated at a different level.

  52. Born rich # 51.
Nobody is trying to criticise anybody here and if there is, that person is you.
You seem not to have understood my messege those were just a few examples I took to. It is good that the we are getting ndalama. But remember mwana that those are capitalists they use different means to cheat their way around.
    Have a nice weekend.

  53. Actually capitalists are the same imperialists. Look at how they digging our copper and other resources. Just to give us 0.3% of their profits. They dictate and fund the yes bwana leaders for us. Look Morgan of Zimbabwe, another FTJ.

  54. Thank God Gluco Morgan has come in the afternoon. we are going to Zimbabwe next year to vote against him. He is a traitor and he is in a trap he cannot come out.The whole region has agreed, this man who brought misery to his own people.

  55. Does Laura have space for one more person ??? I’m suggesting Kadansa(7,46) follows her…..our centre on Great East Road near Bennie Mwiinga complex have failed it seems!!!

  56. GLUCO # 57.
Walasa boyi. We need more people like you. Africans need to be free and I don’t mean on paper only especially economically.
Easy # 53 you are on truck.
Soon we will have a nation full HIV/AIDS citizens and a bunch of drugs that slow the process of the sickness and not the cure of the sickness hence dependence on the West has been created. The West is up to something, they know what the are doing. I tell you people in ZED or Africa people don’t sleep around as it is exagerated by the so called experts,if their are countries which HIV/AIDS should be high is the Western coutries people in these coutries are so PROMISCUOUS you couldn’t believe.

  57. Pundits 59# Limbi bazatu they are used to live in servants quartal he can do fine at white house. Yaba unfortunately the period is too short.

  58. Sage54# welcome back. we missed you. Laura was visiting the four Africa countries because of equality with the husband. Remember Bush was in Germany, then he went to Bulgaria and Estonia, the last state he visited was the vatican. Count them they are four exactly what Laura is doing. This is what we call equal opportunities and live for your madam. Ask kuku he will tell you the same – visit tour nothing else.

  59. It’s a fact the SADC grouping has some of the highest HIV/AIDS preference in the world. Zambia is not the worst case scenario but those in the SACU sub-group e.g. Botswana, RSA, Swaziland, etc. Laura could have chosen any of those countries but instead settled for Zambia. Why? Like # 54 has correctly argued, Maureen appears to be doing a good job here. Give her a break. Just ensure that the funds are put to good use and are accounted for. Incidentally this seems to be the case, otherwise the USA would have pulled off the plug on further funding.

  60. #54, mudaala SAGE,

Leta data, Leta!!. This is what i have been Labouring to educate mudaala KUKU and Lombe Chulu. It is just that mudaala Kuku alatalika sana.

    welcome back.

  61. I agree with #54 Sage. Let us not read too much into this visit and donation. Those who have had their lives given temporary reprieve as a result of ARVs bought with American money are not choosy about where the money comes from. Neither would we if our lives depended on it. This talk of imperialism and capitalism is not necessary. Most of us abhor George Bush’s politics, but HIV/AIDS is not a laughing matter. It has dessimated the life expectance of Zambians and this can only be reversed through seriousness and hard work (both of which are usually lacking in Zambia). Let’s take what we can from wherever we can for the sake of those living with this terrible disease.

  62. They tried with Gentechnic Maize you refused now they caught you on the right foot. In Europe there are what is know as old peoples home this no different as Katombolwa confirnment in Livingstone. The old people are under house arrest maybe the only different is they have a tv in their rooms and when they are about to die a doctor will come and visit them. This is war of cultures if Africas population is was to grow then no chance to the west to make tricks because can match them. So experts will tell you the population is growing to fast yet we compensate the west with raw materials in turn to recieve expired drugs. That is why people like Bulaya they should go in for 25 years for siding with the muzungus.

  63. #60. Lombe Chulu
it seems mwalinwa sana data pali capitalism. It is all you talk about. In itself, Capitalism is NOT bad. Anyway, That is another topic on another day.

  64. #41 & 49 Lombe,if you live in a capitalist state,live like one,if you are socialist,communists,humanists etc like Cuba or Venezuela,then live like them.
But my friend, all the other philosophies apart from capitalism are just there to make people believe that the country will work for them,of which there is nothing like that.If there were no capitalist’s, in this world, tell me how you would get employed and live.
Norway as Nkhataboy explained to you,has a mixture of capitalism and socialism because they have a minimal population which the govt can manage to support but dont forget it has the highest tax base in the world.USA has one of the lowest tax rates.
But appreciation is always important,it’s the same capitalist’s who are helping you to fight malaria,hiv/aids etc. Now Zambia has received US$266m, you should be happy with that, this is what is called Valueing and Respect for Human Life.
Your Minister bought expired ARV’s and you’re still QUIET.
    lets be REALISTIC.

  65. It is so interesting to note that in the UK the diseases giving the National Health Service a scare are STI’s (gonorrehea/syphillis and believe it or not pubic lice !!!) Zambia went through this scare in the early 80’s and it has now resulted in “an AIDS pandemic!!!”What future do some of these countries have?? These visits, as well as the “over-the top” attention to HIV in Africa are being used as test cases for what the West expects in the next few years!! The levels of promiscurity in Europe are ten times that of Africa!!

  66. Look for Zambian solutions. Prof. Lameck Goma was the first one to operate mosquito and thereafter no effort were made to eradicate malaria just because a an African had the solution first. Do you remember smallpox it was wept out in the 1980s worldwide why because it was an ependimic which knew no bundaries it affected every one. Facts are that companies making these drugs have made huge marginal profits from the time HIV was pronuóunced that is why today they can give out handouts. I can remember in the mid 1990s treatment for a month was costing between $4000 US and $6000 US. Who could afford such exzorbitant prices only they haves. Why patent medicine if you want to help the poor plz muleeya ko ku ma meetings and hear how people talk. Iyo 64#MK(Windhoek) what is the population of Botswana or Swasiland where aids is said to be prevalent? Dont bring wrong statistics.

  67. Eya ba 70# Pundit I still have that daily newspaper ati Icichoni (Bird) it will take you this was the expression aids in the 1980s Pundit you are right we need to search for STI solution I think this our HIV because I think though I am not a doctor if a syphilis has not treatment for a long time it destroys the immunie system. If we can conquer gonorrehea and all relative STI then we can save our lives from the scourage.

  68. Uh Born Rich # 68.
It’s not about mwalinwa sana data pali capitalism mwana. Look at the world around you everything is got to do with ndalama. Why capitalism, because of the way the USA capitalists conducts things mwana you are missing the point. Nobody has said that what Laura did is bad.
The reason why DRC has those problems today is because of the USA and it’s interests in the region. Remember Kabila senior he was dedicated to putting everything in order and that made him a threat to USA’s interests and they made him disappear. My experience tells me that capitalists do not just give without having a HIDEN AGENDA. Why all the suspicion, coz of the way they do things and treat others. The data you are talking about is all around you. You got eyes but you do not see, You got ears but you do not h……………

  69. Katyata# 69.
The minister who bought expired drugs was not stupid he knew what he was doing and that is stealig from the Zambians and proberbly getting paid by the same drug company for shuting up.

  70. #68. Lombe Chulu
Yes everything has got to do with money because of what money represents. I am sure you are interested in knowing what money represents. te?

Money represents VALUE. Money is the ULTIMATE SERVICE. It is the MEETING PLACE for people offering different services but needing each other services. I hope you dont want us to revert to Barter System. Do You?

  71. Ba Easy(72),if “indeke” yapona, chances are very high that you have also contracted the deadly virus as well. That is why there is a panic in any area where STI’s are prevalent. Furthermore, the prevalence of STI’s and it’s “wide distribution” indicates that the population is going “unprotected”!!!A significant indication of a “protected” population is the reduction of STI’s.Most ante-natal clinics as a matter of course, check for STI’s and only based on the results, are sample HIV tests undertaken. It is still expensive to do an HIV test and what we should advocate for is development of cheaper testing kits to enable everyone to be tested.Any comments??

  72. Born Rich and Ba Lombe Chulu let me intermediate. How many metric tones of copper do we supply the whole world you? you mean there is no value in it. I believe the computer your or mobile phone has some copper elements in it. Your cellular is out cobalt tell me how many countries do produce this mineral? Gentlmen we should be very careful USA cannot not lead without an enemy. War is employing millions americans it is a source of employment.what is good is to be vigilant and make our eyes open. There is no nation that recieved handouts from america they have always interest. Even convicted criminals are given chance to choose to go and fight.

  73. NAIROBI (AFP) – The World Bank has approved a loan of 80 million dollars (60 million euros) to boost Kenya’s efforts to fight HIV/AIDS, which poses a major challenge in the country, an official statement said Wednesday. The funds will be used to strengthen the National AIDS Control Council (NACC), the country’s frontline agency in fighting the deadly disease that has killed at least 1.5 million people since 1984.
“We are determined that the support should reach the five million people in Kenya – especially orphans and young women – who are directly and indirectly affected and made very vulnerable by the disease,” said Colin Bruce, the bank’s representative in Kenya, in the statement.
Britain’s Department for International Development (DfID) is also expected to provide 33 million dollars (25 million euros) in additional funding towards the country’s war against the scourge, the statement added.
The NACC said Tuesday the rate of HIV/AIDS infections in the country of nearly 35 million fell from 6.1 percent in 2004 to 5.9 percent in 2005.
A shift in sexual habits and the more widespread use of condoms had played a large part in curbing infections, whose prevalence Kenya aims to slash to a rate of 5.5 percent by 2010, said the agency.
At least 1.3 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya, 65 percent of whom are women between the ages of 19 and 45, according to NACC statistics.
Last year, Kibaki announced that public hospitals would no longer charge HIV/AIDS patients for life-prolonging anti-retroviral drugs, in a new bid to fight the disease.

  74. #77. Easy
You are right. But if i may ask; who said America does not have an Interest? Only an foolish person invests in something they have no interest it.

But until we prove that they have bad intentions in giving us this money, we must CONTINUE RECEIVING and continue putting it to good use. Atleast these donations are not followed by a demand for us to sign some document pledging something to America which will put our nation and our people at a dissadvantage.

Many times, these people mean well. They want to help. They may gain political milage out of it but that is just about it. It is just that we are so poor in our thinking and when we see money all we think about is there is something fishy or it is satanism!! Shame.

So, it is true that America has its own interests, political or otherwise. But so does China!!!!

  75. Pundit76# Why is it so because the virus is be carried in that aeroplane. This is like but its just an asumption because HIV virus dies immediately it expose to air. The problem is the so called experts who rush to collect such virus- this was the case with Ibola. As I state above the only remedy to our HIV as you it occurs in two form HIV1 and HIV2 is to reminate the STI. That is scientics researches are required. Testing alone will not help us, looking forever lasting solutions is the answer. In some countries you have testing methodies just by using urine. I think this is cheaper but the problem is a how accurate it is. This the most important aspect we have to consider. Do have data on who is the first Zambian to test HIV and what led him to do the test.
Let us fight STI then can we talk about wining the HIV war.

  76. Born Rich 79# in many issues we do agree. I just sceptical of the American dealing because one become state enemy no.1 Look at Iraq, Osama Bin Laden there is overwelhiming evidence that the Bush Family and OSama were good family partners. I get scared when the armies say america is a battle field. However there are moderate americans who mean real to help.I give you an example, Do you Macha Mission Hospital? It is better than UTH and it has been in existance for more 100 years and it saved many lifes .American doctors come there and spend sometime treating people. Now they have e´ven built a malaria research center. They are even flights from Lusaka to this place. They have also a secondary school. I will try to differentiate the kind of help from white house and from any ordinary american. The other smells blood in case of the friendship going sour.

  77. #74 iwe ci lombe anthill, ulichiwelele sana. Bushe banoko ngabakutuma mukushita pasteurize milk do you check for expiring date te? If you you go on and purchse that expired milk your mother will consider you as an imbecile te? so dont talk about expired ARV’s as good thing for the Zambian mass.
#64 MK(Windhoek), kwena walishala sana kuli data. Laura was in SA and Uganda last year with her BEAUTIFUL (twins)duaghters.

#2 Cyber mwaice just contribute and dont wait for many comments. Bushe ama comments from other pipo yane tayawama kanofye yandi te? Am still waiting your comment mwaice wandi, naiwe posapo pasitigeni(arena).

My own view on Laura visit to Zambia.
Its good to put Zambia on the map BUT nomba zed will start experiencing Bomb threats and bomb blasts from anti-americanoz elo security pa zed yaba chuchu yaliba weak and can not compare it with KK. So we dont want her to tell us about mosquitoes, HIV/AIDS BUT we need her donation that will go a long way.

  78. Kuku where are you Ba Joze is back and he is already teasing everyone. The man is hard working since he start fundraising have you he is get the donation from Laura it will go alot way. Our presido 2011 not KAKA.

  79. Easy mwaiche, The Malaria problem is not a medical issue but a social envirolmental one. It doesnt matter how many mosquitos Goma can operate on. We have to prevent the breading of mosquitos in our neighbourhoods and homes. We as a people have to learn how to live in a clean enviroment first. Look at our sorroundings? There is gabage everywhere. In the rainy season there is gabage stagnant water and these are the breading grounds for mosquitos. The council is dead, and there is no gabage disposal mechanisms in the country. But before we talk about the inept and bankcrupt councils we need to learn as Zambians to clean our sorroundings. Look at this picture? A house in Roma has a bore hole in front left side of the house and a suewer on the other side. That right there is a recipy for colera. First we have to deal with personal hiegen

  80. Ba SAGE84# This is simply Biology you are talking about I would suggest you study medicine. This is more efficient that the later. As much I dont dispute you outlining of the issues above preventing breading for mosquitos is just a drop of water in the red sea. We need to do more Mosquito have mutated and they are resistance to some drugs. We can clean the surrounding but if there are no remedies which are scientific it will be a waste of time. We need to study the behave of Mosquitos because its not thru out the way you get a malaria. Over the council if the govt was serious in doing this job then I pretty today we have been talking about somethin else. Over the Roma house and it toliet and suewer I blame you in govt for failing to put in place city plans. People are just building house anyhow without consultant the expertise. Your friends in the west will take into account so many factors be providing someone a plot build a house. i.e a study of the richter scale will be undertaken..

  81. Chiluba to pay $57m, Smith
Second Republican President, Frederick Chiluba has been ordered to pay the government over $57.4 million for conspiracy to defraud the state.
In a final judgment delivered, Friday by London High Court Judge Peter Smith, the state is to recover the funds from Dr. Chiluba for his involvement in the ZAMTROOP Conspiracy and a fictitious arms deal the BK conspiracy.
Judge Smith said the $57 million also caters for Dr. Chiluba’s violating the trust of the people to look after the national treasury.
However funds to be recovered from Dr. Chiluba have however been reduced from the initial $58 million announced a few weeks ago after several deliberations by lawyers in the case.
The same court has ordered that state recovers from Fugitive former Zambia Security Intelligence Services Director, Zavier Chungu, $113 Million.
Judge Smith has ordered that Mr. Chungu pays $57 million, for his involvement in the ZAMTROOP and BK conspiracy.

  82. Judge Smith has ordered that Mr. Chungu pays $57 million, for his involvement in the ZAMTROOP and BK conspiracy.

The Judge said the remaining $56 Million must be paid as a breach to protect the national treasure.

Others include Former Zambia Ambassador to the US, Attan Shansonga who has been ordered to pay $4.4 million, for his involvement in the ZAMTROOP Conspiracy and for dishonest assistance.
The government is also expected to recover from Access Financial Services, Chief Executive Officer, Faustin Kabwe $92 million US Dollars.
And Access Financial Services Managing Director, Aaron Chungu is required to pay $40 million for his involvment in the ZAMTROOP conspiracy and for dishonest assistance.

  83. #85 Easy you are always wrong and SAGE is right. Malaria is an enviromental issues. If you look at the global map you will notice that malaria infestation is mostly on the tropics and its now extending to to higher latitudes coz of global warming and mosquitoes breed faster in moist and warm enviroment. So you can not fight malaria alone but with your neighbours you can make a difference. HOW?

    1. The use of DDT was effective but it polluted ground water and rivers. That why they are now using dusted mosquito nets but on small scare and temperal
    2. The use of malarial drug like chloroquine, gamaquine, quinine, fasda is NOT the solution to mosquitoes but to a disease.
3.start working as a team (neighbour, region countries) to combat malaria by keeping the enviroment clean.

Kuku am in chipata on the way to Malawi mukushiata ma curios.Nikwata nakambi katemba pa Northmead akama curios. Kuku ala nandabwa, tute na mbala plenty in chipata corrindors.

  84. Gentlemen we are in money K2,681,870,000,000 Trillion. How much was our budget this Mr. Magande can you repeat yourself.

  85. Ba Joze learn to read my comments thoroughly before you critise. I didnt dispute that malaria has to do with weather I was look at it more experstise and compound not just mere cleaning the surrounding. You get me right.

  86. Easy my friend you are right on the issues of city and town planning. The councils are finished. Plots are issued and people start building before the roads and sewer systems are in place. Right now I have a friend from UK who wants to visit me. She asking about the street no of my house. I aint got any. She couldn’t believe it.

  87. #92 Ba Joze, You are correct on Easy, this chap needs every extra tuition. I hope his Principal is getting the most of his tuition fees.

  88. Easy #84, Mutation of plasmodium is more crucial than that of mosquitoes as you suggest. infact it negligible

  89. BaEasy(88),indalama shonse ishi bakafunya kwi??If i were them i would just declare myself bankrupt and “rely on the goodwill” of friends!Meanwhile, whilst the cases have been going on i would transferred all my money to “friends” using clever accountants.Recovery of these funds are going to be merely academic!!
Getting back to the thread: malaria eradication should be one of the focal points of “keep Zambia clean campaign”.We have to target the breeding grounds of this disease.Malaria kills more people each year world wide than HIV/Aids!!!I wish to hear from fellow contributors the practicality of including dietary issues in the the campaign:Is is too far fetched to to alter the slogan to “Keep Zambia Clean and Healthy”.We need Zambians to consider other types of food like potatoes, cassava and rice for starch, soya as a regular supplement and emphasize vegetables with every meal. The dietary habits of Zambians is very poor and yet we grow all of what our bodies need.

  90. Understand The Malaria Lifecycle
    Understanding the malaria cycle:
Malaria is a potentially deadly disease and the cycle of infection can take place very quickly. The malaria life cycle is as follows:

    Infected mosquito bites human
Parasite rapidly goes to the liver within 30 minutes
The parasite starts reproducing rapidly in the liver, some parasites (from the ovale and vivax species of malaria) lie dormant in the liver, to reactivate and cause diseases often long after the initial infection.
This gets into the blood stream, attaches and enters red blood cells. Further reproduction occurs.
Infected red blood cells burst, infecting other blood cells
This repetitive cycle causes fever and depletes the body of oxygen, caring red blood cells. Additionally, infected red blood cells clog up the circulation in vital organs such as the brain and kidney.
As infection progresses, sexual forms of the parasite (gametocycles) are released into the blood stream. When a mosquito bites, it takes up these gametocycles and the cycle of infection is perpetual placing others at risk.

  91. Mwabona nomba Ba Joze ba SAGE, KAyata the doctor has just given a good explaination. Kuku you are great. So we have to study the behave of this mosquito to find an everlasting solution.

  92. Pundit97# There is nothing like declaring bankrupt. Paying is all what we need now. Some own Banks we have to liquiditat them and sell the assets they are worth millions,Billions. We have to get Chungu.

  93. Iwe mwaice Easy what is your mother tongue? bemba ma gonga kanshi waba shani? Na home service yalikwata Zanglish? Elo nomba even where you are in the US mosquitoes are there from the tropics around Mexico, Equador etc so be careful pantu ingayakwikata you will be treated for flu instead of malaria, since flu and malaria present with similar symptoms-fever, headache, low libido etc, so make sure you spray your room all time and use creams when out of the room.I want you to come back to Ndola since I have a job for you.

  94. Kuku, here there are two thing to look at:
