14. This is what happens when there is lack of transparency and accountability in govt. A lack of checks and balances in govt. This is a symptom of a bigger problem than the ministry of lands.This is a problem of the whole govt. What we need are proper reforms – reforms in the way we handle our land.. reforms in health systems, education, labour. In Africa we have leaders who only do what they like… as someone pointed out – govts should be afraid of the people and not the other way round. In other words, we should make govts do what is best for the country and not what looks good to the donors. Most of the policies implemented only go as far as political point scoring and little to improve the general well-being of zambians. I sometimes wonder whether my govt would give me the same concessions they give to ‘foreign investors’ if I had the same mone to invest.
