Wife weeps after granted divorce in Kafue

Share

A 45 year old woman of Lusaka yesterday shed tears before a Kafue Local Court when she was granted divorce.

Delivering the judgement in Kafue yesterday, Justice Annie Kugila said that the
court decided to terminate the marriage because of the continued threats by the
defendant  Mr. Ackim Chileya to kill the plaintiff, his wife, Evelyn Chileya, by
using a gun or witchcraft, and having starved her sexually for the past two years.

Facts before the court are that problems began in 2005 when the defendant, Mr. Ackim
Chileya, a former State House police officer, got retired on medical grounds and was
given his terminal benefits of K180 million.

The man is said to have secretly bought a house in Mumbwa at K50 Million and a
canter truck at K80 Million without the knowledge of the wife.

The court also heard that the wife was only given K5 million in installment of K1
Million when she complained to the husband on how he was using the money without her
knowledge.

She also complained that since 1988 when they got married she was only bought four
clothes by the husband who claimed that she was a working class who should buy her
own clothes.

The plaintiff said that she was always threatened to be killed if she does not
vacate from the matrimonial house because  she had failed to given him more children
as they had only one daughter.

She complained that she was denied sex for two years and the husband called her a
sperm waster.

But in his defense, Mr Chileya stated that he denied having sex with her wife
because he suspected that she was flirting out with somebody by the name of Album
Muyuma after his wife recalled to him that the two used to exchange love messages
and letters for two years.

He added that at one time he was chatting with his wife in the sitting room when the
phone rang and the wife rushed to the bedroom to answer it.

Mr. Chileya said that at one time his wife fell pregnant of the same man and aborted
after people started talking about the pregnancy.

He claimed that his  wife had no respect for him and used to cook and wash for himself.

And passing the Judgment Justice Kajula said that two people who are threatening to
kill each other and are not having sex should not stay together, adding that the
court had no option but to grant them a divorce.

  1. Definately! But they needed counselling and to be honest with each other. The man is also a crook. He must be flirting away with young girls in Mumbwa.

  2. This is ridiculous, the man did not love his wife, he obviously is having sex elsewhere. what excuses – I bet the money is finished by now.

  3. Ala mayo wilalila, God will open another door for you and u will find a better man, who will love u back than that good for nothing man, whose sex appetite got finished becoz of money. When the money finishes he will come crawling to u like a injured dog.

  4. A sleazy, unfaithful, wife-abuser, and child neglector Duncan Kakulekelo Mushala is Divorcing his wife of over three decades and abandoning his children.
Duncan Mushala who works for TEVETA has been cheating and committing adultery with many women and has been abusing his own family.
His wife of three years is deeply depressed. The whole family is in shambles. But Duncan Mushala adds insult to injury by making sure that his wife and children suffers because he is the only bread winner. He holds a degree from UNZA and currently pursuing a distance education MBA. An educated sleaze bag!
He wants to divorce her so that he can have his concubine move in with him while she goes destitute

  5. It is rather unfortunate that our society has descended so low on the ladder of progress. I do feel for the woman in the article. It’s sad that Men like Mr. Ackim and Duncan Mushala perpetuate backward ideas. It is even more appalling that the legal system in Zambia lets all these things happen.

To Mr. Ackim and Duncan Mushala, you have given a bad name to all men. You are the reason humanity does not thrive. Shame indeed on you and on all who ascribe to your way of life.

To the women, abused by the likes of Mr. Ackim and Duncan Mushala, do not despair, you are the trailblazers of a better tomorrow.

  6. The article above is really sad. I want more information about it so that we can look into it. The story about Duncan Mushala is just terrible and the circumstances surrounding Mr. Ackim are also equally reprehensible. Kabs, please forward me Duncan Mushala’s case details so that we can review it. It is sad that a man of his stature can abuse and neglect a woman he has been married to for thirty years and also abuse his children. If he is an educated person like you say, then he must know better than to treat his family like that. We need educate people in Zambia but we do not need people who abuse their position in our society. Please email me and we can handle this case for you. My email h

  7. here is [email protected]. You could also come to Cairo Rd next to Stambic Bank on the 4th floor and we can hear the whole story.

I know TEVETA is a government agency and we can definitely advocate with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Vocational Training. Mr. Daka, the minister, is actually an MP of my village and I can bring this to his attention so that he can begin to look at the conduct of Duncan and TEVETA. We need more accountability of all those who are public servants and if he is getting tax payers money and then abusing children and his wife who will one day need vocational training, then we need to act. Zambia is moving forward and we should rid our beautiful co

  8. country of such things. Let us build up our country, let us not our country be on the shoulders of people like Duncan Mushala. Kabs, send me all you know or come talk to us and we will carry the burden with you.

  9. How can TEVETA allow Mr. Duncan Mushala to do such a thing? The man is married and has about 5 kids with his wife. He is abusing his poor kids and wife for another woman. These are things the Zambian government should not allow to happen to women. He even wants to kick his family out of the house and bring his other wives. And this is what you call an educated man, working for TEVETA?
I don’t know about you, but this is just stupid!

  10. People get divorced in modern society. It’s a shame, but true. The laws need to modernize too so that divorce settlements are fair for both partners. No one should use bitter feelings to cloud their judgment and abuse their beloved family members. It sounds like this Mr. Mushala will leave a legacy of lonliness and deceit. TEVETA, ofcourse, is not responsible for Mr. Mushala’s behaviour, but they should expect their employees to conduct themselves in a seemly manner so that no shame is brought upon them.

  11. Stupid man liar,i hate men who abuse thir wives, sorry mama God will give you another man, just leave that bastard
