ZNAN empowers NZP+ in Mwinilunga

Share

The Zambia National AIDS Network, ZNAN, has donated bicycles to People Living with HIV, NZP+, in Mwinilunga district.

The bicycles would help address the transport problems the people living with HIV
face, particularly when accessing Antiretroviral treatment.

NZP+ Coordinator, Beauty Ntanga, told ZANIS that the bicycles would also help
facilitate quick transportation of ARVs to support groups located in remote areas of
the district.

“The bicycles will assist in reducing the burden of transporting ARTs to adherence
councilors in rural areas,” Ms. Ntanga.

“Truly we used to experience serious problems in transporting ARTs to areas outside
the boma,” she recalled.

She disclosed that in some instances people living with HIV/AIDS could miss out on
treatment cause, ARTs health services providers had means to reach HIV support
groups in remote areas of the district.

“We have had instances where some people have even missed on treatment cause they
could not manage to walk to the boma due to transportation problems,” she stressed.

“But now am happy transport problems will be the thing of the past as we have been
empowered with bicycles as NZP+,” Ms. Ntanga noted.

Ms. Ntanga has since appealed to ZNAN to consider sending more bicycles to the
district, so that more HIV support groups in rural areas are further empowered with
transport.

  1. Wow! thats great, thats real help for the helpless. People are helping themselves because there’s no govt to help in our country now. Are they being ignored because politicians can easily fly to south africa for treatment. I am so humbled. i feel bad that even when i can afford a bicycle, i am greedy enough that i cannot send one to these people. That’s an incredible story.
