Pruned Mwinilunga council workers paid since 1991

Fifteen pruned council workers in Mwinilunga district have appealed to the government to assist them collect there terminal benefits.

Speaking on behalf of other pruned workers, Yowanu Kalenga complained that since
they were pruned in 1991 they have not been given there terminal benefits by the
council.

” Since we were pruned inn1991 to date we have not received our benefits such as the
long service bonus” the former worker complained.

He stressed that for 17 years  the council has not made any efforts to pay them
there long service bonus service dues.

Mr. Kalenga noted that each time they made a follow up to the council over the
matter, the council always assured them that they will get there benefits once the
grant is received.

He lamented that f they have been waiting for the grant but vein.

Mr. Kalenga disclosed to Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) that four of
the former pruned council workers have since died without receiving there benefits.

He charged that the council has been receiving grants but it has been diverting
grants for other use.

Mr. Kalenga maintained that the council has not shown willingness to settle there
long awaited benefits

Mr. Kalenga insisted that if government does intervene over the matter they risk not
receiving there terminal benefits.
