I hate to say this but looking at the groups Zambia’s chances of qualifying to the nations cup look slim. Benin and Uganda pose the biggest threat to Zambia’s chances. To be frank I do not expect Zambia to top the group. Even If we do win in SA by a lone goal that may not be enough. Uganda and Benin have weaker opponents. Uganda will be playing at home to Niger. Benin will play Sierra Leone and have the same goal difference as us. Sudan have already clinched one of the best three runner up spots. The draw with Chad was a grave error on our part. Hopefully my analysis is wrong.
Only the group winners qualify – and for Zambia to go through they’ll have to beat Bafana by at least five goals. So the odds are stacked in favour of Parreira’s men.

# 6 Zambia doesn’t need to beat Bafana bafana by 4 or 5 goals. All we need is a 2-0 score line that’s enough. In case the top teams have same points then it comes to head to head records as RN says. This is according to Caf Article no 5.13 ‘a’ and ‘b’, page 8 of 42,CAF constitution.
Though it won’t be easy scoring those 2 goals but this is football anything is possible.
Zambia is going to qualify to Ghana 2008. That I KNOW. Ask me on Monday 10th September 2007.

About Chipolopolo and Bafana, its a 50/50 state of affairs.
With a bit of luck, Zambia can sneak in there and proceed to Ghana but it will not be easy.
And “Killer” Mandona!
Elyo Na Zeddy Saileti
Elyo na Austin Chishimba, Alec Chuba, Isaac Phiri, Lawrence Salimata, Diamond Chiboni and Benjamin “kawilo” Chilongo.
Hey guys you are good! I did not realize that I had forgotten so many names!
What of Kelvin Mutale?
The only way to beat Bafana Bafana is to pplay our Zambian, possessive and dazzling football and never allow allow them to play. Davies Mwape’s goal against super sport United was voted by SABC MTN African Soccer Show Zone and the best over the weekend. He really score a carcker of a goal.
It’s interesting to see so many Nkana fans. You all a eaving out my friend “Stong Men” Ten Men” Reuben Sakala (Kamanga)
Naba Peter Bulimbo
If all of you and other Nkana suppoters can contribute something, in the form of money, facilities etc to Nkana, am sure the club would be a force to reckon with. Am not a supporter of Nkana. may I find out too What happened to kalulushi Modern Stars, where John Soko, Gibby Mbasela, Stanley Mwape, Stanley lungu, Chris Mwango, Joseph Chiyungi, Ackim Chimpashya, Lighton Kaluluma played? In which division are they? Can people back home let me know please.
Guys, you have got time, writing all these people’s name.I really admire your seriousness.keep up!
Bafana wait on appearance of McCarthy
Johannesburg, South Africa
04 September 2007 12:09
Privileged to the end, the grand re-entry of Benni McCarthy into the Bafana Bafana squad for Sunday’s African Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia at Newlands Stadium will materialise on Wednesday — a day after the remaining South African players are due to be ensconced in their Cape Town camp.
McCarthy made an encouraging return to goal-scoring form on Sunday when he scored his first goal of the English Premiership season to help Blackburn Rovers beat Manchester City 1-0 at Ewood Park, and presumably he would have had no trouble boarding a flight on Monday night and arriving in Cape Town on Tuesday morning,
But Benni being Benni, his arrival will only materialise
ctd 24 hours later and, in the circumstances, it would not be surprising if an indulgent South African Football Association hire a brass band to greet him.
However, Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, who wasted no time in preceding the arrival of the bulk of his squad by arriving in Cape Town on Monday afternoon, will probably have no gripes over McCarthy’s 24-hour dispensation — as long as he sets sights on his prized striker after his 19-month absence from international duty, as arranged for Wednesday.
South Africa, however, are not alone in the desire to produce a trump card scorer in Sunday’s game, with feared former Kaizer Chiefs and Bursaspor (Turkey) striker Collins Mbesuma in harness to play for Zambia in what is theoretically a more vital game for them than it is for
Bafana.
While Bafana are virtually certain to qualify for next year’s Nations Cup Finals in Ghana — avoiding a 3-0 defeat on Sunday or something likewise will make it a fait accompli — Zambia cannot afford anything less than achieving a victory to avoid the stark fate they experienced in 2004 when they failed to reach the finals in Tunisia.
So, while a victory by three goals or more against South Africa is viewed as the first prize for the Zambians as it would ensure them Nations Cup qualification, a win by any margin would, in all probability, be a soothing enough second prize as it would likely earn them a place in the Ghana tournament as one of the three best-placed runners-up from the qualifying groups.
Mbesuma, meanwhile, told Kick Off magazine prior to his departure from Turkey that the Zambian players do not view defeat as an option on Sunday.”The game will be something in the nature of soccer crusade for Zambia,” added Mbesuma, “particularly after we lost the home
ctd against Bafana, with all the players fully aware what is required from them.
“And for my part,” said the player who was the scourge of Premier Soccer League defenders while playing for Chiefs, “South Africa is somewhere I have always viewed as a happy hunting ground.” — Sapa
I bet Collins Mbesuma will be the last Prof player to arrive in the Zambian camp as has always been the case.
Apart from Kalu, Charles, Msiska, nyirenda, Bwalya, and the other pros of 80/90 , Our current pros are useless and not worth it. We really miss our dead Heroes,
And Nelson Sapi, Ian Montgomery, And “Ball boys!”
Guys we don’t need to score 3,4 or 5 goals against South Africa. All that is needed is any score line like 2-0,3-1,then we will top the group. If we beat them 2-1 or 1-0 then we will have to wait for other results to see if we will be one of the 3 best losers.Forget what the SA press is saying about Zambia needing to score more than 4 goals look at the CAF constitution as i said in # 12.Article 5.13 ‘a’ and ‘b’ on page 8 of 42.
So it will come down to Head to Head results if the top two teams have the same points not goal difference.Angola was able to go the last World Cup at the expense of Nigeria cos the drew with Nigeria in Lagos and beat Nigeria 1-0 at home.At the end of the day Nigeria had the same points with Angola ,Nigeria had a better goal difference but Angola qualified cos of the head to head result.Nigeria scored 21 goals against 7 and Angola scored 12 against 6.Both teams had 21 points.
It is possible for Zambia to beat Bafana Bafana and qualify for Ghana 2008.
It is always a serious contest when these two teams meet and Bafana have, with time, proved to Chipolopolo’s dodgy opponents but this time its going to be Zambia to carry the day.
Lets rally behind the boys. True zedian for life.
Chips # 25.It looks like you are a Kalulushi boy.I can see that you know of the guys that played for ba Modern in the eighties Chris Mwango a (personal friend),Joseph Chiyungi,Akim Chimpasha,Lighton Kalulumuna,John Soko and Mwelwa Mupeta (school mates),Danny Mofya,Richard Sikanyika,John Mofya….Man i saw this team rise from the second division to 1st Division until mu Premier.Don’t know the team is now and hows it’s doing. My love and know ledge of the game started with Kalulushi Modern Stars.
Ooh Sibs# 37 am a Kalulushi boy. I used to stay at @ Musamba street in Makobo opposite the late Lighton Kalulumuna. I Witnessed the rise of Modern stars from Division 2, up to division 1 in the 80s that time there was no premier division.Modern stars are struggling in Division 2 now its very sad, I wish I were rich, I could just buy the club, the Abramovic way. It really pains me that zambian clubs and football have gone down that low. We are buddies man!
I strongly feel that Mbesuma should start on the bech so as to study Bafana Bafana’s loopholes, before being introduced into the game. Jacob and Songwe or Adubelo Phiri should start instead.
GB I used to stay in Chavuma Avenue, which is not very far from Musamba. We used to play alot of incibobwa with the guys in Makobo.Man maybe we can hook up.catch me on [email protected]
