The ruling Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) in Southern province has called for the arrest of Politicians and non governmental organisations disregarding the NCC as Law.
Provincial chairman, Daniel Munkombwe told ZANIS in Mazabuka today that Police
should not wait for the President to direct them to effect arrests because they are
aware that the NCC has become Law.
Mr Munkombwe said the MMD in the province fully supports President call’s for the
arrest of people undermining the NCC which has since become law.
He also disclosed that the MMD has information that some NGOs were allegedly been
sponsored by foreigners to cause anarchy in the country by rejecting the NCC through
demonstrations.
Mr Munkombwe warned that the MMD will make it difficult for such organisations to
operate in the province.
Meanwhile, Mr Munkombwe says the bestowing of a honorary doctorate to President
Mwanawasa by a United states university has brought excitement in the MMD.
Mr Munkombwe said Dr Mwanawasa deserves such an award because of his outstanding
performance when he served as lawyer.
He said Dr Mwanawasa has distinguished himself as a strong leader in Africa and the
World over following his fight against corruption, revamping the economy.
Just in case you didn’t know Mr. Munkobwe, its the MMD Govt thats being sponsored by foreign govts to oppress its people. We were colonised by white people before Kaunda, Kapwepwe, & Nkhumbula fought for us. we will not be colonised by remote control Western govts through such nonsense as NCC. they own all our mines, now they want total control of our constituition, they stop us from buying fuel from Iran, causing unnecessary shortages, just because they hate the Iranians. WAKE UP ZAMBIA!!!!
It is very shameful for the MMD and Doc’s government to force poor Zambians to accept what ever they think is right. Doctor Mwanawasa, do not play with our freedom of expression. A Lusaka-based clergyman has urged the church mother bodies not to boycott the National Constitution Conference (NCC) as doing so will adversely affect the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.
Former Church of God Southern Africa regional overseer, Bishop John Mambo said if the church mother bodies stay away from the NCC, there will be no strong voice to defend the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation.
No external debt- Magande
Finance Minister Ng’andu Magande has asssured the nation that the New Deal Administration will not drag Zambia back into unsustainable debt.
Mr. Magande said the government has not contracted any external debt this year.
He was speaking on a live ZNBC television programme in Lusaka, Friday.
Mr. Magande urged Zambians to fully participate in growing the local economy.
And Kabwata Patriotic Front Member of Parliament, Given Lubinda said the government should be accountable in the contraction of external loans.
Mr. Lubinda said government should not be left to borrow beyond the stipulated legal provisions.
Meanwhile Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflections co-ordinator, Muyatwa Sitali said Zambians need to have full knowledge of the utilisation of loans.

In such complex cases you have very high chances of securing a conviction by turning one of the participants into a state witness. This is not the first time this strategy has been used in Zambia. General Christopher Kabwe was turned into astate witness in the early 80’s during the coup trial of the businessmen and lawyers who intended to use Kantangese rebels to overthrow the Government.That is how Shamwana, Musakanya, Deogratius Symba and Yoram Mumba were convicted.

It seems to me that Munkombwe is still rooted in the past, when the likes of him were favourites with Kaunda. KK used such people to intimidate the public, whilst he (KK) continued to put up a facade as a God-fearing and caring leader. What Mr. Munkombwe has failed to grasp is that the world has moved on from those dark old days. The best any right thinking people can do is ignore the pronouncements of such misguided individuals. LPM should, on the other hand, should be roundly condemned.

It is reported in some other news media that the President of our Country says he has all the powers that is why he issued the threat of locking up anyone who has a contrary view on the constitution process and charged with treason. Mr. President Zambia is a democracy, Chiluba, you and all Zambians fought Kaunda so that we could all be free to critise what we do not think is in the interest of the nation. When you try to stiffle debate it goes to show that you have failed to explain you point.
