Serenje district Commissioner Musonda Chunga has expressed disappointment that some contractors were not taking government projects seriously.

Mr Chunga said this after inspecting some development projects in the area awarded
to various contractors.

The DC noted with sadness hat some contractors did not bother to move to the site
but just asked villagers to do the work on their behalf.

At Mambwe Locha school in Muchinga constituency, where a one by three classroom
block is being constructed by a Kigwe based contractor, Mr. Chunga found the
villagers engaged by the contractor, putting concrete in piecemeal without anyone
from the company to supervise them.

The DC said government wanted serious contractors to carry developmental projects
so that communities are well served.

The school was allocated K83 million by government to put a modern structure to
replace grass thatched classroom blocks.

Works at Miswema Basic school, which was also allocated K83 million was going on
well and headmaster Lawrence Mazuba expressed happiness that government had
considered funding the school.
