Arsenal, Man U supporters fight in Siavonga

Share

A serious fight arose yesterday in Siavonga Township between supporters of England based teams, Manchester United and Arsenal football clubs.

The fight between the two rival supporters started immediately after Arsenal
equalized in the dieing minutes of the match that saw the two teams battle to a 2-2
goal aggregate.

The fight that occurred at Kariba North Bank recreation Club was as a result of
insults that some Manchester supporters hailed at Arsenal fans after Arsenal scored
the second goal.

Security at the premises had a tough time separating the two men that exchanged
blows causing commotion in the T.V room, forcing some people to vacate the room
before the match finally came to an end.

Soon after the match ended and order restored at the premises, Arsenal fans that
made contributions in terms of money and bought crates of beer, further went wild
dancing to music that was being played at the club in celebration of their team’s
performance that has so far seen Arsenal playing all their games without losing.

Club representative, Geoffrey Mwale, who described the fight between fans as
unfortunate, told ZANIS in an interview that in future people that engage themselves
in fights at the premises will be arrested and taken to the police.

  1. Ubushilu bwapa Zed, why fight over english football? Is english holiganism airborne or what? Why can’t people fight over the constitution making process or the high unemployment rates instead of fighting over foreign football that non of these foolish fans will ever get to watch live or even benefit from. I hear these english football ‘holigans’ take matters seriously especially in lusaka. What madness. Atase ifimano ububi!!

  2. Bane we must fight only when Chipolopolo is playing or when Zesco united is playing.Fighting over English clubs is not on.

  3. Men with cheap minds behave like this. Not even a single player in these two teams knows these two stupid *****s.So what has these two dogmas achieved?

  4. Zambia international striker recently joined turkish club bursaspor. On one saturday weekend he was very bored. As usual he was not selected for a league match. He decided to entertain himself to one of the local bars in bursa city. At one of the bars a waiter asked a gentleman what he wanted and he said ‘James Boag single’.The waitor then approached another man and he said ‘Jack Daniels single’. On hearing this Mbesuma was amused. When approached by the waitor the striker said’ mbesuma sinlge’

  5. Ubupuba no bufontini tafyakapwe. Maybe we should just deploy loads of chinese kung fu fighters to the bars balepumako aya ama misbehavers.

  6. Malcolm X talked about House niggers and field niggers. If you start fighting over the interests of your colonial masters you need your mind examined then taken to a hospital to be cleansed of your colonial slave mentality

  7. it is a shame,no wonder even our special Mbesuma never made it in that league. There are better matters to look at and fight for now than waht is going on.We lucky to have made it to the African Cup but are we ready enough? Will Phiri deliver…or should he get help from i donno!

  8. # 8 I do not see Phiri succeeding. He lacks the inteliigene, inginuity, creativity, imagination, organisation that the “great Kalu” greatly commands. we need a foreign coach. cameorron is getting one from Al Hilal in sudan to giude their national soccer team for AFCON. What is wroong with FAZ getting an expat coach?

  10. I feel bad when we look to an expatriate coach to guide us into An African tournament.Patrick Phiri will do just fine.We can only look to an expat when we qualify for the world cup.PP just needs more information and resources for chipolopolo to go far.For instance he needs to see all the videos of the teams we shall play with and all the players involved in the tournament. He needs all the resources availed to him .FAZ needs to play its part and we shall overcome.
I am for Mr. Patrick Phiri.

  11. I personally think that it is too late to engage an expatriate coach now. Let PP take the chipolopolo team to AFCON 2008. With proper support from GRZ and the private sector, he might pull out a surprise. Employing an expat now would be going two steps backwards.

  12. Engaging expatriate coach is a good as flushing money in the toilet.PP is the right man who can deliver at the moment.

  13. Burkhard Ziese.
    Jan Brouwer.

Do we need another expensive disaster? Shuwa abena Zambia, can we not be proud of our own? This love of all things foreign is retrogressive. We can’t even manufacture nuts and bolts in our own country. When are we Zambians going to stand up and do things for ourself??

You don’t realize that the white man has succeded in making us believe that we are inferior. Shame on all calling for expat coach. Maybe we should hire expatriate president? just a thought

  14. Let PP continue and finish his mission but he must do it with our support as soccer fans and both the GRZ and FAZ should help him reach his intended goals. What the needs is a good prep and motivation. They should start early camp for the local players and make sure by xmas time all the pros should be in camp and no reporting late Mbesuma.

  15. I get suprised when some people speak as if they belong to Man U, Arsenal etc, as if the are in UK. And yet they are in LSK, KITWE OR KAPIRI There is no problem watching and supporting premier league. But this madness of calling oneself nifwe (we are) ba Man U and even fighting over allegiance is totally nonsense and carrys a tinge of colonial hangover. Understandably our local league is poor. But is is only through our homegrown support that it can grow. Fighting over Man U/Arsenal wont help.
