Copperbelt MMD PEC advises Findley to take leave

Share

The MMD Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) on the Copperbelt has advised party Provincial Chairman, Terence Findley to step aside as PEC Chairman due to allegations of rape that have been labbled against him.

According to a letter dated December 29, 2007, which was signed and made available to ZANIS by the Provincial Secretary, Mr Tryson Simukoko, the PEC decided to communicate to Mr Findley and put on record the resolutions of a meeting that was held in Kalulushi on September 22, 2007 advising him to step aside.

“We write to communicate and put on record though belatedly the PEC meeting resolution of 22/09/07 in Kalulushi advising you to step aside as PEC chairman due to the serious allegations of the rape case leveled against you,” the letter read in part.

The letter, which has been copied to party President Dr Levy Mwanawasa, the national secretariat in Lusaka and the Provincial Permanent Secretary (PS) Mrs Jennifer Musonda, explained that the decision by the PEC was significantly to avoid and forestall any real and perceived embarrassment and loss of credibility to the party and its leadership including Mr Findley if he was seen at public gatherings.

The PEC has further advised Mr Findley to take ‘leave’ of his duties until his alleged rape case is cleared in the courts of law.

The PEC has since advised the Provincial PS to direct all correspondence to the party’s provincial Vice Chairman.

Mr Findley is currently facing charges of rape, assault, causing bodily harm and distribution of obscene material in the Ndola Magistrate Courts.

According to evidence that has been given in the Ndola Magistrate Court, Mr Findley is said to have had, on unknown dates but between June 2, 2007 and June 12, 2007, carnal knowledge of a named juvenile of 16 years old who is a grade ten pupil at one of the leading Secondary Schools in Ndola.

He is further alleged on the said dates to have burnt the juvenile on the buttock with a cigarette lighter and also availed her with a disc containing pornographic material.

The case comes up for continued hearing on January 25, 2008.

  1. Is a PS a public officer (civil servant) or a party employee? Findley in trouble tho belatedly as acknowledged.

  2. Findley is not the only MMD officail appearing in court. So the other must also take leave. I guess he can not because it is him that must charge and disciple Findley. Or maybe his case of plundering millions on dollars is not as serious as mentioning family tree.

  3. the quality of leadership is called into question here.Findlay, if he was a man of principle should have voluntarily stepped aside long ago pending conclusion of the case of rape.A man of principle would not allow his personal circumstances to compromise the integrity of a political party he represents.Step aside Findlay, when and if you are cleared, resume your party duties. The party and every independent observer would have nothing but respect for such an action or does LPM have to act??

  4. problem twakwata mu Zambia ebwafya!!Resignation is never an option only being fired!the MMD national secretary should have “quietly” advised Findlay to save the party the obvious embarrasment his predicament is causing.Once cleared, Terence will be welcomed back with open arms, his return legitimized & evidenced by a court judgement!!

  5. Man TOP you are collect and right, this Findley must have resigned long. Where does he actually come from this monster who can rape daughters of man. Only evil one can clinch to power despite aggresations. The must quit his position. What is with Mulyata?

  6. He should have gone from the the word go.Such rubbish goes on with these pipo and all because money speaks.Couldnt he find someone his on age.Is this man married?SHAME ON HIM.Africa get rid of all this mickey mouse rubbish,we might move forward

  7. Let’s look at things the way they happen. I don’t support Findlay if that happened and proved in courts of law then he should be shown the exit. How do you expect him to step down when the likes of Mabenga, Katele kalumba, Mulyata are free. I personally rate rape cases equal to plunder and the last one worse coz innocent people have died case of plunder no medicines in hospitals whilst the rape cases we do even blame abana besu ukukaumfwa besides tafwa is alive and must have had agreed to sex.

  8. Ba mala – msana wandalama,
My dear young brother recorrect your thinking in a public domain.Your tribal push has no space in modern day Zambia. Like Patriot aka FACT has articulately nailed it, it will fail you and give a life time internal injury in this dispensation of unitary politics.Your crusade of malice on the first family is baseless and very unpopular except among bitter, envious and losers.Mwanawasa has united this country more than Chiluba that polarized it with his unbridled Musangu.

  9. By large Mwanawasa has assembled qualified Zambians from diverse backgrounds without an ethnic criteria. This is a model that united Zambians under KK which Chiluba belabored to rape.FTJ filled most strategic portfolios wrongly.Remember Musengule a footballer becoming Army Commander against the norm of an infantry officer? Chungu becoming DG against the norm of seniority and field of expertise.Mushinge from Zesco his uncle becoming D4 opposite MOF HQ.D4 is a very sensitive & complicated portfolio

  10. Mwanawasa has ended all that nonsense. If you could only mature up and be sober enough,Sampa Kapasamakasa’s since bash to your like minds will prove a resource for change.Your tribal mentality has no space. Revisit the thread “NCC adjourns” Posted on December 21st, 2007.

This is why since Sampa charged his fire here the like of Chapi, SAGE and Joze have been deflated and realised their irrelevancy in modern Zambia. No one is interest in the same baseless song of family tree.

    Happy new year

  11. Iwe Chileshe Chapena! Your sentiments have not relevance to the topic in discussion, next time don’t waste this space with your retorics

  12. Findlay, Katele, Mabenga, Musosha, Mulyata should have been no where near public leadership in this country.
So those calling for Findlays’ resignation must be courageous enough to ensure those I have listed and many others leave Chuchu’s new deal (if chuchu himself is not among them thru Mahtani). This could be the start of cleansing politics…….

  13. Findlay is an alleged rapist. The best way for him is to step aside.Let the law takes its course.Once proven innocent then he can resume his duties as chairman. It is as simple as that. Those other chaps like katele kalumba, mabenga. et.al. should step down as well to facilitate the judiciary to do their work with no interference.
