Friday Zambia National Team 2008 Africa Cup Update

Share

After all the ranting from Faz president Teddy Mulonga this morning on a popular radio show hinting that Zambia defender Elijah Tana might or should be dropped, it will not come to pass.

Meanwhile, Collins Mbesuma did what he does best with the national team…miss an opportunity to join the team.

Today again, Mbesuma failed to join the team in France due to another visa hitch.

Last week, he failed to join Zambia’s training camp in Spain because the Spain embassy in Ankara had closed for Christmas.

It seems it was the same problem again this time.

And team manger Solly Pandor revealed from Paris this afternoon where Zambia made a brief stop over en route to Tunisia that Mbesuma was expected to link up with the rest of his team mates tonight in Tunis.

And back to the protracted Tana saga, Faz confirmed this afternoon that the player from El Merriekh in Sudan will join Zambia in Tunisia on Tuesday January 8.

Tana will be on the same flight together with two other late call-ups.

The two are defender Davies Nkausu from South Africa division 1 league club Pretoria University FC and Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Mike Poto.

The trio will join Zambia in Tunis on the eve of the team’s departure for Morocco where they face the Atlas Lions in their final friendly match on January 12 in Fez in a 21:30 kickoff.

They will also miss Zambia’s friendly match against Tunisia this Sunday and a training game next Tuesday against a yet to be announced local club.

Zambia will face Tunisia in Rades in a 17:00 Zambian time kickoff.

And Zambia left Spain this morning where they had set-up a week-long Christmas training camp in Andalusia.

  1. I wonder why people suck up to FAT BOY Mbesuma’s bad behaviour and poor judgement. This boy can’t grow up except grow FAT. Just drop this spoiled kid. After all he is not even performing for his club and we have enough competition in the team for his position and excellent fire power. You can’t be an instant hero at a tournament when you have been poor all season at your club and to make matters worse you keep missing a chance to bond with your team. DROP HIM

  2. Well it is really a big one. Sure hie is somewhere in a London pab ale chili sha buka……….la. We are used and things will never change for Paramount Chief Mbesuma.

  3. We could far much better with some strikers from the under 23 or under 20 as compared to Mbesuma. He is just another fiinished footballer “a fad” On the pitch he has nothing to offer, off the pitch he is a nuisance, why waste time with him? Sometimes I wonder why we even make noise after perfoming badly at events such the the ACN.

  4. Mbesuma’s ways of getting to the camp with the squard in time has been a disgrace. His approach need to be adjusted a bit because it shows that he needs assistance in this manner. You get used been helped on regular bases, when you have people doing for you all the times, and then to do it by your self it becomes harder. That’s why Mbesuma his who is the history talks about it self. All you have do is look on his past history. The boy can play football is just sad that his form has been ok.

  5. Kaya!
I doubt if the team is prepared enough to match the best of African football. When are zambains going to stop the habit of leaving hings to the klast minute…. alaready the team has not had enough time to play togahter…. how do we expect them to coordinate? Phiri? Does he even understand a thing about modern football? Mbesuma…. OH NO!

  6. Why complain when you all know Mbesuma’s bad behavoir? The boy wanted first go to Luanshya for chibuku, then connect to Paris to join his friends. As long as FAZ remains retrogressive, Mbesuma will continue with his bad behavior. He knows there are no professional rules and regulations in FAZ, hence the behavior. How is he gonna do wanders at CAN when he can’t do them at his club? The blame is on FAZ, they need to put their house together. Shame on you Teddy, Kalusha, Solly and all FAZ.

  7. The K5.9 Billion the GRZ gave FAZ for the CAN outing is a worst.I wish the money was spent on medicine or cleaning detergents at UTH. This is where Chuchu’s govt should set priorities right. Boys like Mbesuma should be locked up for his behavior should the team fail to reach the finals. Why are they still bothering about Tana? Leave the chap alone to attend to his family problems. Ala bwafya pa Zed. Teddy, you once headed the ZNTB, why don’t you use those managerial skills at FAZ?

  8. patrick phiri should just drop this chap, he has failed to deliver what zambians want. Milanzi is even better, he is performing well in angola and he fights for the ball than the domant Mbesuma

  9. I am sure the dude Rotson Kilambe is playing soccer somewhere. Probably is not the same player as he was, when he was younger and with the ups and downs of his career, that has had something to do with his known present to the squard. I wish him good with his come back. Kilambe is still playing and runing well.

  10. Chabipa!, Our beloved Zambia is again jes going to make up numbers at the AFCON. Teddy milonga and Phiri are wasting our resources. they don’t know what it means to prepare for such tournaments. Mbesuma alipwa, Sinkala na Sichone balwele!!!!!!, banshi mwakoselela ba coach? DO YOU HAVE CONTRACT WITH THEM???

  11. Zambia is just goin as a tourist at ACN.Hop they wil come and tel us how Eto’o & Geremi luk lik,if posibo even mido!

  12. We nid experienced n dedicated players lik katongo who been in camp since preps began not that finished mbesuma who only managed 2 score 1 goal 4 the national team since the 2006 ACN..

  13. Most Zed players luck focus. They become big headed for nothing. Look at the Fat boy’s behaviour (Mbesuma)! As at present his perfomance at the club is poor and funs have have started protesting and cannot join the nation team on time.In the next three yrs, i will not be suprised to see the Fat boy playing for a lower division club in the Country.Couch PP should just depend on committed players 4get about Fat Boy, Sick sichone & Tana who’s reportedly just drinking alcohol in Chingola.

  14. #17 What I mean is that FAT BOY is dead and buried as far as football is concerned. Pls let us not bury our heads in the sand, even at club level the man is a non-stater. It is sad but we have to accept realities and not hope for some sudden resurgence from Mbesuma. In football it is either you are good or not and as far as the coach is concerned, I hope he will make decisions strictly on that basis.

  15. i comend the patrick and his technical team for droppin chi mbesuma although baletubepa ati ma health reasons bt we all know the truth. all the best to the boys… mwela onse kabili chipopolo nangu tuli ma unda dogs

  18. mulonga knows something for tana”s issue.he must be asked deeply or else we are going no where and no progresive matters will be there on technical bench.

  19. Fantastic win against Sudan. But i have my reservations. That backline average height is unacceptale save for khethani. To make matters worse our keeper is short.Seems we have never learnt the lesson of Davis phiri era? It’ a tall order to stop Cameroon from floating high balls.Good Luck

  20. We accept a lose 2 cameron but officiating wasnt good especially on the second ,third, and fourth goals some must be done by CAF otherwise FAIR PLAY will be meaningless.
