The Matero Family of Ministers (MFOM) in Lusaka has strongly condemned the violence among political parties in the Kanyama pre-election campaigns.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, MFOM Chairman David Banda said unity was the only way to continued peace and security in the country.

He has since appealed to all political leaders to ensure that unity is preserved at all times even as they compete for power.

Yesterday, opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) clashed during their campaigns for the forthcoming Kanyama by-election.

Bishop Banda, who is also the overseer of the Grace Christian Centre (GCC) in Zambia, has meanwhile appealed political leaders to direct their energies in solving problems in Matero constituency.

He has further called upon various leaders to work closely with the area Member of Parliament Faustina Sinyangwe to bring about meaningful development in the area.

“As Church leaders, we shall continue supporting and closely work with the area MP and the local councilors,” he said.

He said that Matero faces a lot of problems, citing some being poor infrastrucre, poor roads, inadequate health, facilities poor sanitation, lack of drinking water and constant power outages as some of the challenges.

He said that MFOM will remain committed to the development of the nation.

Bishop Banda has also urged area MP to support the proposed mineral tax regime adding that other MPS should to ensure that this is implemented.

He has since called upon investors to corporate with the government on the proposal.

  1. HI ZAMBIA,

ITS A SHAME! THIS GOES TO TELL YOU OF ZAMBIA’S POLTICAL IMMATURITY AND BACKWARDNESS. IN A DEMOCRACY, VIEWS AND OPINIONS ARE BOUND TO DIFFER. THAT IS THE WHOLE ESSENCE- THAT PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO HABOUR DIFFERENT VIEWS AND OPINIONS.

    ITS OKAY TO DIFFER.

OTHERS GO FOR BLUE AND OTHERS GO FOR RED, THERE IS NOTHING WITH THAT. LET US LEARN TO RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES PREFERENCES. COME ON ZAMMBIANS; LETS GROW UP!

WHY SHOULD YOU BEAT UP SOMEONE JUST BECUASE THEY DONT AGREE WITH YOU!

YOU SEE, THIS THING CALLED LIBERTY IS A BEAUTIFUL THING, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO THINK HOWEVER YOU WANT, LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY!

  2. Why is it that all the time its MMD fighting with another party. You wont hear that UPND and FDD fought or FDD and patrotic front fought. All the time its MMD.

  3. The people you are fighting for are safe and sound in their homes with their families enjoying life and laughing at you! meanwhile you coz you are MMD or UPND or FDD live in the same compond, you go and hurt your neighbour, friend, brother, sister who will not even benefit from the loans the MP is given when put into power!
Lets learn from others, look at what happend in Kenya! Zambia is a peaceful country, lets be proud of that. Condenm any political leader or anybody advocating for violence! bull them or walk away from them. Baka siyala ni litoho zabona balinosi( they will remain alone with their heads) Ni kuswaba maswe!( and been very ashamed)
Mupile hande muzuhe hande! Kozo Ibe nimina.

  4. #3 i didn’t ask you a question if you had nothing to say you should have just kept quite. You don’t need to write something each time you visit this site.Even if iam dull its none of your bussiness.Stay cool with your intelligence. Each person is intelligent in one way or another. We do not need to be at the same level.

  5. #2 Why would opposition fight each other? For what ? Its power they all want, thats why MMD finds themselves an opponent each time.Though I feel so dumb to have answered this …

  6. hey!violence shouldn’t be condoned at all but due the poor implementation of justice by police.condemn the police too coz these chaps fought from a police station.

  7. Anonymous in # 4 entry.Read what Miyoba in entry # (9)has nailed. When i call you dull I’m neither being malicious nor intimidating you but challenging to exhibit some thinking personality.Miyoba you have hit on the skull.

  8. It seems to me that this facility is being abused all in the name of each one trying to express his or her opinion. Why do people find it difficult to state their considered position in a cool manner than to insult each other?
Democracy entails respect for each other’s opinion and not indulging in acts of violence. To me, there is no difference between those who have been cited or caught up in acts of violence in Kanyama and a few individuals on this facility who are trying to out do each other through acts that are tantamount to violence.Violence should be condemned in the strongest terms possible. We do not want the kenyan situation in our country.
