Unbeaten Young Arrows Go Top

Share

Young Arrows are the only unbeaten side at the end of Week 6 of the Faz Premier League today that saw Kabwe Warriors tumble at Nkoloma Stadium when they visited the new top-flight leaders this afternoon in Lusaka.

Warriors, without influential striker Emmanuel Mayuka who left for trials Portugal this morning, lost 3-0 away to see Young Arrows shift 2 points ahead of the chasing pack on 10 points from their four games played this season.

Young Arrows, promoted to the top-flight just two seasons ago in 2006, secured their 4th win of the season with goals from Chomba Ngandu, Shaft Katuka and Judge Mkandawire.

Nchanga Rangers stayed 2nd on 8 points after Tom Bakala’s goal ensured they drew 1-1 at home against visiting Nkwazi who are 3rd on the same number of points as their hosts.

Nkana are 4th after also drawing 1-1 away at bottom of the table and fellow promoted side Green Eagles in Kabwe.

However, Zesco United’s brief stay at the top of the table ended today when they lost 1-0 away at Arthur Davies in Kitwe where Power Dynamos recorded their second win of the season-and first home victory- after a litany of three straight defeats.

Francis Kombe’s 37th minute goal handed Power the 3 points and a breather for coach Fodson Kabole who would have certainly felt the wrath of the home fans had his men lost at home this afternoon.

City of Lusaka also drew 1-1 at Woodlands where they hosted Konkola Blades in Week 6’s fourth draw of the day.

Chambishi meanwhile record their first win of the season via a 1-0 home win over Red Arrows.

Aggret Chiyangi’s team winning goal came from midfielder Preston Musumali-son of one former Mufulira Wanderers and Power midfielder Nelson Musumali.

Lusaka Dynamos too recorded their first win of the season after dispatching Green Buffaloes to their third successive league defeat of the season.

Dynamos got their victory thanks to a 33rd minute William Njobvu goal that he scored from a corner kick that Buffaloes goalkeeper bundled Dave Kaumbwa bundled into his own net.

Zanaco’s brief flirt with good form ended at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya where Roan United shocked them with a 1-0 home win thanks to a Ken Mumba goal there to see the hosts get the 3 points.

  1. Zambian Soccer Bonanza continues. All the Big wigs tumbled. Zanaco, Worriors,GBFC,Red Arrows. I think competition is critical to any league in Soccer. Thanks to KCM/FAZ for sponsoring the league. Wish good luck to Mayuka.

  2. Lets go Nkana Lets Goal!
    We are doing fine
    5 Games

    2 “Wins”
    2 “Draws”
    1 “Loss”

We have played 5 games even though it it week 6 becoz week 2 games were not played.

  3. I think any team winning the League is a big one considering that the past records are no longer to by. “ubulimi bwa kale tabutalalika mwana” i.e. You cannot comfort your child by just merely talking about your good old farming successes, but produce results.

  4. Time for GBFC to look elsewhere for a coach. Lwandamina is time for him to be shown the exit because complacence must be taking root in him now. We want scores and wins.

  5. I do not for some reasons see why people do not like LPM. He has done better than Kafupi. I have seen some construction of the rail line am sure what the Minister is saying is true. Levy promises and acts. Ka kafupi would sweet talk. Super Ken ran out of ideas and was squeezed by the west. Otherwise he laid the foundation.

  6. Let’s hope Emma Mayuka can make it. keep fingers crossed for him as he undergoes trials at Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto

  7. #16 I also wish Emma all the best as he goes through those trials.Sporting and Porto are huge clubs that play Champion League football year after year.It won’t be easy but it can be done.

  8. # 16 AND 17, I foresee a situation whereby there will be a scramble for the boy among the three teams- Sporting Lisbon Porto and Zamalek. I am very sure he will make it. Read on wwwdot zambianfootballdotcom on what the Pharaoh ( Kabwe Warriors coach says about zambian football and players, no wonder they dont make it for trials. They lack technique and seriousness.

  9. As we approach the 28th of April,I can`t even believe that it`s already been 15 years.I wish to pay tribute to these fallen heroes who perished in the Gabon Air Disaster and these are:

Efford Chabala, John Soko, Whiteson Changwe, Robert Watiyakeni, Eston “Yellowman” Mulenga, Derby Makinka, Moses Chikwalakwala, Wisdom “Summer bee” Chansa, Kelvin “Malaza” Mutale, Timothy “Tiger” Mwitwa, Numba Mwila, Richard Mwanza, Samuel Chomba, Moses Masuwa, Kenan Simambe, Godfrey Kangwa, Winter Mumba and Patrick “Bomber” Banda.
    Coaches:
Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu and Alex “Computer master dribbler” Chola.

  10. #7 if you were born after 1980, i will forgive you. Arrows pa Nkoloma! ask your uncles how teams from CB used to be slaughtered at Nkoloma stadium and how many players from Arrows used to make it to the National team and Zambia schools team.

  11. #22 But how many league titles or cups did they win then. What makes a big gun is the number of trophies in your cabinet not how many big teams you have beat.
Remember, small teams that beat giants are always known as giant killers and not as big guns.

The only influenial players I can remember since arrows came into being were Fany Hangunyu,Bernard”Tools” Mutale and John Zyambo.Unless you are talking about something else but the arrows I know have only been giant killers and not big guns.

The big guns of Zambian football are Nkana, Warriors, Power Dynamos, Nchanga, Zanaco,GBFC and the legendary Mighty Mufurila. Wanderers.
Consider the above teams pedigree and you will agree with me.

  13. sorry my above list of big guns should exclude mighty mufurila wanderers since they are no longer in the elite league

  14. I agree with Kemps. The big guns are Nkana, Nchanga, Power, Warriors, GBFC and Zanaco.
Red arrows used to be famous for only two influential players, Fanny Hangunyu and John Zyambo. Finnito.

  15. #25 if your definition in post #24 is correct then you can’t leave out Mufulira Wanderers because it is based on history.
