Sata Evacuated to SA after Heart attack

Patriotic Front President, Michael Sata has been flown to South Africa for treatment after he suffered a severe heart attack

Mr. Sata who is leader of the biggest opposition party in Zambia was flown to South African’s Mile Park clinic in Johannesburg at 01:30 hours today.

Health Minister, Brian Chituwo confirmed to ZNBC news that Mr. Sata suffered a severe heart attack.

Dr. Chituwo said President Mwanawasa gave a directive that the PF leader be immediately evacuated to South Africa for emergency treatment.

He said the plane carrying Mr. Sata landed in South Africa at 03:30 hours and he was immediately taken for treatment.

Dr. Chituwo said government will give an update on the condition of Mr. Sata.

Milpark Hospital clinic confirmed Sata’s admision.

“He has been admitted to the cardiac care unit, which is a cardiac intensive care unit,” said Amelda Swartz, spokeswoman for Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.

“He is in a stable condition,” she said.

Swartz said Sata had suffered a heart attack before coming to the hospital, and would have an angiogram on Saturday afternoon as part of his treatment.

    If it was an STEMI ,he ‘needed door to ballon’ time of 90 mins,(improves survival)

    How long did it take to make the diagnosis?
    Did he get Beta blockers,ASA,nitro,Heparin,statins,+/- IIB/IIIA ,s blockers?…………….
    UTH needs a cath lab among other things,UTH needs funding.

  92. Reading through the entries on this blog, if taken as a sample of the average level of thinking of educated Zambians then there is cause for real worry. Analysis seems to be our weak point as Zambians. No wonder our leadership has never been really up to the task at hand for the simple reason the leadership at any one time is just a statistical sample of the whole. The solution is that we must continue to work on our knowledge base at all levels and also continue to improve the analysis tools we use when attacking problems.For now the situation is very depressing.   116. I am seething with anger that my young nephew aged 23 died last week in UTH after a severe bout of malaria and now this “old bag of bones” is being evacuated to SA for medical treatment? Why is the Government wasting resources on people nearing expiry dates and neglecting young lives? Should’nt these pipo be using their own money if they need “special” treatment, it is time my President stopped this sort of selective treatment. Sata claims he has money so let him use it to get treatment of his chaim-smoking, it cannot be that he voluntarily abuses his body and we have to foot the bill.
