He said the K200 million CDF would be used to buy iron sheets, roofing nails, planks and cement for all the 26 community schools in Kabompo district.

Mr. Kalenga explained that all 26 community schools, which are made of pole and mud structures, would have 1 x 2 permanent classroom blocks each.

He has since implored the people in his constituency to work hard by provide building sand, stones and labour as part of their community contribution.

Some of the community schools to benefit are Mutokoma, Ndeho, Ndundwilo, Malola and Dikeli.

Mr. Kalenga said over K14 million would be spent on buying roofing materials and cement for each of the 26 community school.

He said the improvement on school structures in the area would motivate teachers and this would further improve the quality of education in rural areas.

The resolve to construct permanent structures for the 26 community schools has since gladdened the people of Kabompo west who praised President Levy Mwanawasa’s government.

  1. Who designed these schools? What is the expected quality of students to produced from these schools? What about science labs, what equipment is to be installed at these schools’ labs? And the school libraries, computer rooms, sports facilities? Who said that our kids in Zambia are to be short-changed educationally compared to other kids elsewhere?

I NEED ANSWERS!! I NEED ANSWERS! Why do we have shabby educational infrastructure, and expect our kids to be global players in all aspects of international development? Shame LPM, these ideas you are implementing are vegetable ideas for Zambia.

  2. #1 You better quit crying out loud like a spoilt baby and see reality: Zambia is a third world nation who’s level of education has been and still is suppressed by the west in all aspects. Community schools may not be the way out of this quagmire but at least offer basic education like reading and writing to the poor people. When will you Africans learn to appreaciate what your own people do? Kamo fye fi miseducation fya fuma ku Cambridge nangu ku Harvard elo mwa leka noku landa! Colonyo mentality!! Sha!!!

  3. Education that produces individuals unable to compete globally is a waste of money and effort. We must build schools that offer wholistic growth of our kids’ minds and not chicken nooks.

The cost of education cannot be avoided because neglecting education only leads to us becoming a nation of incompetents and advanced slaves.
