Two UNZA students Shot and Wounded by Police

Share

Two university of Zambia students have been shot and wounded while a police officer has been injured following clashes at the Great East Road campus in the capital, Lusaka.

Zambia Police Service spokesperson Ben Kapeso has confirmed the development to ZNBC.

The students were wounded, after they attacked riot police with stones and police responded by firing in the air.

Earlier police had difficulties controlling the unruly students who attempted to stone motorists along the Great East Road.

The students were only pushed back after a police reinforcement arrived on the scene.

The students also blocked the entrance to the campus and turned cars away.

During the clashes on campus, the student pelted riot police with bottles and stones and hurled insults.

Police also fired teargas at student hostels to disperse them.

Government has described as regrettable the shooting of the two University of Zambia, UNZA, Great East campus students in Lusaka during a riot this morning.

Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mike Mulongoti, said government will, however, not close the university as calm has returned to the institution.

He added that tight security has also been put in place to prevent further violence at the country’s highest learning institution.

Mr Mulongoti, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, said this during a media briefing at his office in Lusaka today.

He advised the students to adopt dialogue as a mean of putting across grievances.

Mr Mulongoti has also called on the student union leadership to ensure that student grievances are resolved through peaceful means and condemn rioting and destroying other people’s property.

He explained that the two students were shot at when a mob of students charged against the police and injured one police officer.

Mr Mulongoti also described the condition of the two students as out of danger adding that both the Inspector General of Police and Hospital authorities have confirmed the stable conditions of the victims.

He said it was not the intention of the police officers to open fire adding that the law will take its course once evidence is established against the police officers.

  1. Yes this is good news, the police have done well to maintain law and order along the great east road. It was vital to curb such stupidity because their (students) behaviour of late has been unacceptable esp. that tourists use that route to get to their hotels and lodges. What a good deterrent. No need to even establish evidence here. Police should be commended for their swift action. There is need for these lumpens to understand that they cant vent their frustration at authority, this is not like POLICE ACADEMY (Film) were there is incompetence, this is Zambia Police its ‘inde Bwana’ . If u are frustrated find a girl and if u are a monk…… u know what 2 do just dont throw stones.

  2. They have been childish since time immemorial. It is time they grew up. They have always endangered innocent lives and destroyed property for decades. That is not intellectualism they always thought they had. No one wins with violence.

  3. The violent behaviour of UNZA students is not acceptable……neither is the Police action to open fire. Both actions are illegal and the culprits must be punished……Chapwa!

  4. most UNZA students are from the ghetto n on bursaries. therefore they do not reason well and know the real cost of property. however, the govt should also take a step to dialogue with student union representatives so as to address issues b4 hand to keep the situation calm.

  5. please next time officers aim at the head cause thats were confusion emanates from, the money they get is enough infact make a discount to their BC,cause with this same money after buying 10kg of kapenta (monk susage),the change is used to buy weed and kachasu, the best way is to start feeding them kapenta and beans for supper and lunch, and pounded maize with salt for breakfast. They are wasting our tax money

  6. mojos and momas save and buy jeans, hipstars and G strings out of that same money, this means its more than enough, cause you can only save out of abundance. This same trend is encouraging prositution, please I beg the govt of zambia to reduce BC by 50% or to resort to feeding them,we are tired of this.

  7. Can anyone tell the difference between the machete and knife armed South Africans attacking innocent people and our supposedly “learned” students?

  8. I would prefer Zambia Police start using rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. Live arm is rethal is meant for real criminals and war zones. I know we have stupid mentality that being at UNZA means you are immune to Zambian laws, but believe me, we have more ignorant people at Campus than those found in Kalingalinga. These kids are hardcore villagers and you know what it means to a villager from Vubwi. How do explain these kids pissing on the floor when they she the toilet bowl? How do you explain these kids going on bingy drinking when the get allowances forgetting that they need to eat the following day?

  9. U id.i.o.ts.am surprised that u can support police using live ammunition on citizens. No matter how the situation was the police should have used other tactics to stump out riots but not shooting students.

  10. #10 Intellectual, control your emotions. some ppl are on this site for fun. So, yo blood pressure must be important at this moment for yo sake. I feel yo disappointment and I have earlier suggested that ZP invest in rubber bullets and as you suggested other tactics. But as you may know Mwanawasa destroyed the OP, so there’s no fear any more by the stupid ring leaders. Let us all accept that UNZA is a goner.

  11. Hey #11, we are not on this site for fun, these are serious comments by deeply concerned citizens. If 9 out of 10 bloggers support the police move, you think it’s a joke? People are fed up of barbaric behavior! What’s the mouth for, anyway? If you’d rather argue using stones, be prepared to get a copper shot in the head. Is it worth it?

  12. #1 ‘If u are frustrated find a girl’oooooh that sucks!!!!! You started very well but that sentence just splashed your ego centric chauvenist personality who thinks women are tools!!!

  13. enough is enough, y stone veichles that belong to the public? make your case through other means, those Unza chaps have been doing this for years and to be honest, its surprising only 2 have been wounded.
stop throwing stones at our cars(damagingourproperty) and risking our lives and that of our kids.
They are spoilt in the sense they expect results from their threats and violence, not today not tomorrow. They are University students and we as fellow citizens expect more from our future leaders, scary to think they are after displaing such regressive behaviour.
Zabwino Palibe today uve done good.a stone afterall can be as leathal as a bullet. But the pen will forever be mightier than the sword

  14. University is meant be the defining factor for students to realise that society believes that these students have the abilities to make the country produce generations of future leaders that will make a difference between street life and education. But alas ours has turned into an instituion for thuggery grooming. sad indeed…..
To the police “bottoms up” do not relent on these educated retards.

  15. I don’t understand UNZA students no wonder why i prefer to study in South Africa even if my life is at staek

  16. Bwana Ba IG please obtain immunity for police to shoot to kill these *****s. they do not realise that its part of tax from the policemen they insult that takes care of their education. Property damage, violence/assulting policemen are all criminal acts and as along as they do thse acts and they are bound to be treated as criminals. Crme is crime UNZA or not mwefipuba mwe. Just taking us bacwards all the time.
Nga tamwaishiba these are the kind of acts that render some of you jobless after completion even with your flying colors.
Mpaka you go to become illigos and claim that their are no jobs in Zed. Learn to use your God given freedom of choice and do away with group think.

  17. these unza chaps think they own it all,i mean we being there done that but more focused and ambition driven, nowadays its out of stupidity and excitement, nobody forced you to apply to unza,if you cant stand the situation of the level of income piss of and leave the place, learn to appreciate what we give you before we even take away the little, use modern techniques of dispute resolution or problem solving, why should you through a stone, that which you cant reverse, the only feedback is a bullet, things have changed so rearrange yourselves,it smith and wessons no more tear gases, Ulimbe.

  18. Bafikamba oh dont just comment and praise these stupid and ignorant guys for firing at students.I was right next to him and he xxxx did nothing, morever the cop was drunk and started chasing us from the lab where we were.Your sentiments over this matter are shoking, what if it was your innocent son who was shot by these cops? What would u ve done u *****s?Called him a lumpe for trying to run away from the teargass.answer me.LEARN TO THINK and dont just comment FOOLISHLY.Learn to analyse things from 2 side u fools, thats why u need some serious education.

  19. 20. I have been a student before and now am a Tax payer. the truth is students never riot for nothing and before dialogue!! Its fair to say that FOOLS will always blame students, especially those fools who never had an opportunity to go to University (UNZA or CBU)!!! these same fools complain about the minimum wage but when the same small wage is given to our children at UNZA & CBU, they say its enough..enough??? shoting of an unarmed citen is bad and however the circumstances should be condemned by all WISE CITIZENS!!! period!!!!!!!!!

  21. Firstly-Why do Police use live bullets on demostrations?.
Secondly-Why cant Zambian students demonstrate with out rioting? Are riots caused as a reaction to police intimidation. Can someone explain?

  22. FOR YOUR INFO POLICE HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAIM A SUSPECT RESISTING ARREST. IT IS REFERED TO AS MINIMUM FORCE. DO NOT JUSTIFY CRIME JUST BECAUSE U AR STUDENTS. #22 IF YOUR COLLEGUE DID NOT DO ANYTHING Y RUN. OBVIOUSLY FOR THE COPS TO RESPOND WITH MINIMUM FORC FOR YOUR INFO POLICE HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAIM A SUSPECT RESISTING ARREST. IT IS REFERED TO AS MINIMUM FORCE. 23. I have never seen the stupidity that has been exhibited on this site. Most of you guys are i.d..ts and the views expressed are rubbish. For God’s sake how do encourage the police to kill innocent children.Remember most of the students who were victims of police brutality were innocent.you should think before u utter ur nonsense on this site.id.iot bamakaka.Dont contribute if u have nothing to say.m******mwe.

  24. Chikubabe,ur contribution is nauseating. You are an imbecile and a baboon.Maximun force does not entail using live ammunition i.d.i.ot.

  25. READ THE STRIP AGAIN. "MINIMUM FORCE" AND NO ONE WAS KILLED. tELL ME ARE U ONE OF THEM. 26. HOW ELSE DO YOU EXPECT THE COPS TO DEAL WITH DISGRANTLED ADULTS IN THE NAME OF STUDENTS. LIFE HAS TAUGHT ME THAT NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU GO IN LIFE YOU WILL ALWAYS NEED THOSE THAT IDIOTS LIKE YOU LOOK DOWN ON....ESPECIALLY THE POLICE HOW ELSE DO YOU EXPECT THE COPS TO DEAL WITH DISGRANTLED ADULTS IN THE NAME OF STUDENTS. 28. two wrongs don’t make a right. Police should not be firing at students with bullets, save that for a war (god forbid), however students should not be throwing rocks at public property to encourage change. If they are in university they should know there are more sophisticated ways.

  29. I buddie of mine Robert initiated the stoning of car. I never thought it would last this long. Viva Unzasu!

  30. “AN EYE FOR AN EYE MAKES THE WHOLE WORLD BLIND.”
The union should find a way of using dialogue it also not right for cops to shot at students.I wonder when such things will end

  31. Guys the police were in danger as a result they did what they can.If students were able to understand what was at steak, they would have actually leave the police but decided to confront them with the view to overcome and crush the police to bits. However, thank you God it wasnt the uniform of brutality(paras). Basimpundu, I remember very well the same happened when I was at unza 1990-5 but I just decided to leave after I was told paras are on the way. others refused but the beatings were a wake up call.

  32. #12, Murderous behavior cannot be justifed in any way. It seems some of you guys seem to have problems with UNZA. Some of you guys never stepped at UNZA, but that is no justification to kill the kids. So when shoot these kids what do solve? How about spending tax money on the future instead of giving to marketeers seating at Mulungushi faking to work on the constitution. How come the govt finds money for soccer and other sports and other nonsense but cannot adequately fund UNZA? Get real guys. You rebuilding independence stadium while there’s no water at UNZA, Evelyn Hone n other colleges. What nonsense is that. Yes go ahead, kill them. All of them n become as illiterate as SA.

  33. #36, yes the steak you just mentioned is what these kids at UNZA want. Give it to them, not bullets. For sure they want steak with A1 sauce.

  34. it dont matter if u called the students *****s or fools… 5-0 has no right to pen fire… damm u *****s supporting the police..mwenkusa..

  35. The police did a good job.Next time the students have grievances they will not attack the innocent public, like most guyz have indicated great east road is not only used by government officials but but BY innocent people, diplomats, investors and tourists. VIOLENCE SHOULD BE STOPPED BY ANY LEGAL MEANS.

  36. I wonder why it’s over couple decades now since stone throwing and property damaging have been happening at unza and to lesser extent at cbu whenever students are aggrieved and no govt has ever come to the bottom of it. I was at Unza 1987 – 91 when there were 2 closures and only damaging of GRZ property was targeted. And so my proposals to this fiasco are students who want good money they should offer collateral on which grz will give them loans, since they say 10k is not enough for food grz should provide an equivalent of meals everyday to some students and give money to others who want it

  37. • Now that our treasury is getting fat, it’s high grz starts spend more money on education (students), health and infrastructures
Note also that not all students throw stones or damage property (except lumpens) but all are in solidarity, and lupens are rarely casualties. I understand the anger of those who are supporting the use of live bullets by policemen but it’s wrong. Only half baked officers will do that. The use of force by police officers in zambia is common not only on students but other civilians. Just recently it happened in Chipata on a journalist, was it still ok? Viva student power, spare private property, stone grz

  38. I was at Unza from 1988 to 1992 and during this time we experienced closures.

The truth of the matter is that UNZASU is contaminated with people with political careers at heart and they use student power to achieve their motives. Fabian Mumba and Sifukwe are two good examples during my time at UNZA.

Abash police brutality.Use Rubber bullets and not Live ammunitions poor students who are just fighting for their right to be educated .
Government must come up with a better deal with students.

  39. students shouldnt resort to destroy properties or stoning the police. When the police fired warning shots students were suppose to know that it was dangerous to the police as well as to the public.I dont support such behaviour at all. When students from the highest education institution behave like lunatics thats what they wanted to get from their un called for behaviour. These chaps are suppose to be prime examples of elite educated pipo. But I dont know whether it is because some were not suppose to be at Unza but through lope holes the managed to secure places. For those hard and decent students it is sad for missing lessons.

  40. If we want to be a civilised society the police should use rubber bullets and other nonlethal means to keep law and order. There is no justification to use live amunition. The police chief must be replaced if cannot think of a better way to control the students.

  41. this is doing my t**ts! i can’t believe these kids are at it again! well done police, if that was my child shot at i’d be f-ing cutting his b8888ks off.

  42. Police refrain from using live ammunition.Imwe bakaponya stop behaving like lunatics.Management please settle this problem once and for all ,we are tired of these everlasting stupidity at the institution.

  43. its ironic to see how a situation of this kind and magnitude can be left to degenerate a levell of shooting when there are means to be followed.
never i rememeber in the history of unza has a student been maimed by police- except for incidences when police were ordered to enter student hostels and break doors.
i now see the next inCident as having a student shot on the spot by police because of a DEMO – COUNT ME RIGHT ON THIS
now – to write and EXPRESS MY VEIW IS ALMOST USELESS BECAUSE RARELY WOULD I VENTURE INTO SUCH – BUT THE IRONY OF THE MATTER IS TOO GRAVE TO LEAVE UNCOMMENTED.

what i am trying to say here- why kill a student over k300,000. -WHICH IS LESS THAN 3% OF GRZ GDP??????

  44. those chaps did not want to demostrate peacefully they attacked a police officer who was overpowered what then should the friend hav done but to shoot using live ammo in fact am supprised only 2 were wounded how i wish it was more than 10 killed next police shoot to kill bravo zp

  45. Let that be a warning to some of you students who think being at the University is a garantee that you can behave in any way you feel like. Its time you grow up you street adults, why can’t you air your grievances in a civilized manner?Magalu opanda michila avuta.

  46. Ka Shimpundu, Nalelo chilelila and other numb skulls defending barbaric bahavior by so called “students”, you deserve the same fate. Do you teach your children to start throwing stones and damaging property when they can’t get what they want? Ati Viva Unzasu, iyeee…mukafwa po fye, bane! Tuka nwenepo na Mosi.

  47. GOOD action from the Police at last. Why should these fools destroy innocent people’s cars? If you have a greavance with Lungwangwa, why not go to his office or home and stone his car if that will solve your problem? Its total foolishness and if you’are not careful you will not live long enough to graduate. PLEASE OFFICERS AS SOMEONE HAS ALREADY RECOMMENDED, NEXT TIME AIM FOR THE HEADS. These students have gone too far.

  48. Police should follow the laid down proceedures of maintaing law and order.Resistance is best met by bullet

  49. well done police these boys need a lesson every time there is a problam at unza stones are thrown at us but why what have we go to do with UNZA and why should the goverment pay the students let them look for money them self or get a lone and pay back the way it is done in Uk what would have happen if the stone would have killed one of the members of the public who would be answerable for that i think we should cage these fools police well done keep it up .

  51. Why should some people tribalise this site.please stop coding, this site is for zambians and not congolese

  52. @ Choma1, if my child was shot whilst trying to smash someones car or even engaging the police in battle,i wud give him a further beating…

For once the police decided to protect private property and citizens like myself, which is what they are there for.

If i went smashing shop windows and cars for being poorley paid i wud be arrested,so why the heck shud a thug disguised as student get away with murder?

  53. leanerd people should set a good example to the country, but we choose to resort to violence WHY?

Violence only results to unwanted results. UNZA students should use their brains and not stones. now they damage property and other things. this is a typical example in SA with Xenophobians attacking innocent people.

is this an african trait or what?

  54. Can you imagine these *****s almost smashed my car. I couldn’t imagine the next deal to replace it. Ba shushushu all over. Viva ba Buju. Next time hit the head. Bati vuta bachimbwi aba.

  55. The two unza *****s should be indicted to court for “taking part in an unlawful assembly” soon after being discharged from hospital. That may serve as a deterrent to other would be offenders.

  56. The only way to attract african minds is when you insult or worse vandalise there property, thats when they will take you seriously, africans are very irresponsible people/parents/leaders who dont admit there mistakes they are very content with mental/financial poverty

  57. The only way to attract african minds is when you insult or worse vandalise there property, thats when they will take you seriously, africans are very irresponsible people/parents/leaders who dont admit there mistakes they are very content with mental/financial poverty

  58. Sir patriot,
its about time you started to realize that Zambian’s are very proud of their diverse cultures and languages and it is their right to use them. There is no reason in resorting to cheap vocabulary like tribalism because the language I used is part of Zambia and it is not inferior to the official language but just different. This medium of expression is even used for distribution of news on national television for your own information. Are you blind to think that everyone in the country understands English? Do you think they do not deserve to participate, better still even be informed about what concerns them?

  59. police brutality is to be condemned other methods have to be used to quell a riot .unsa students should realize that it is not a god given right for them to be there getting a so called education .getting bad food and poor infrasructure is part of the education process this kind of environment builds your character and exposes your character.learn how to work physically and mentally it will pay of in the end grow your on food unza has a lot of land instead of depending on handouts.free anyting is now kuya bebele

  60. no.15 NAKABALIKA the sun dont shine on ur @ss, ur comments are nefarious, just because i said find a woman it did not mean go fcuk a woman when stressed, 4 all i care it could have meant seeking solace by sharing ur emotions with the other sex i.e talk to them when u are annoyed as they are more willing to hear ur problems and thats why mothers are special. Dont just distort facts here and make ur own conclusions, u have a sick head u kachepa u!

  61. @ Nsama/68 YOU FROG why don’t you crawl back into your stone age hole!

These pseudo thugs should be arrested and prosecuted for malicious criminal damage and/or assaulting police officers

Infact the IG,DPP or who ever should be sacked for not executing his duties effectively

  62. yes kill the BASTERDS if you cant shoot in the head shoot them on their balls police well done these fools need a lesson

  63. #63, thank you. That is how parents brought us up. Policemen are people too. They have wives and children and families to look after and should never be put under threat because they protect us often at so little a cost. They are trained to control thugs and bring about law and order. They also ensure that innocent bystanders are protected. It takes a life time in Zambia to buy a car and a foolish student should not destroy my investment over a matter that I am not part of or should they stone my family for passing by the school. Lessons need to be learned in life. Well done law and order officers.

  64. #75 You are right. We will teach them since we are not educated as the say but we have some from UNZA in the systerm.

  65. #73 first of all i m not a “frog” because i dont owe you anything you very *****d and i m sorry to say ,Its seems you are failing to relate to the situation concerning the plight of students.for how long have these students been making noise over their allowances it now sounds like a broken record. And the public aswell should be concerned about the welfare of their children i m made to believe scholarships are given to deserving students, orphans or those from low income homes hence its governments duty to take care of there needs without fail. Its very suddening to hear/read that the cops went armed with live ammunition to curb the fracas thats very uncalled for..

  66. The police officers involved should be given immunity from proscution. these unza dogs have been beaten many people for a long time. Now they need to realize that they can’t go on behaving the way they do

  67. #63. Child abusers. Were you abused as a kid? Plz, don’t take it out on your kids, they basically expressing their freedoms. Amano yamu komboni mukalekalisa?

  68. Next time these dogs which call themselves students misbehave aim to kill. Its just too much atase!! every time our relations are being disturbed in UNZA because of a small bunch of thugs who are claiming that it is just in order to break your 5th hand car you bought from Autorec what a shame.Viva Zp we are in full support just deal with them ruthlessly this unruly behaviour has been going on for decades.

  69. I wonder really, chiwamila galu kuluma mbuzi not mbuzi kuluma galu. Everytime people wait for a police offcer to be killed by thugs in an exchange of fire and all is well, we sustain severe wounds in trying to bring peace, we die but we get pearnuts at the end of the month. Thugs when confuranted they have no mercy they kill, but when we protect our lives by shooting on them ofcourse in a professional manner it really raises the dust. You guys do you want us to die and leave our families? i would have stopped this jod if i was able to get a new one coz people they dont appreciate.

  70. #71 MODERATE; I will not challenge u again as you have just CONFIRMED that Im right about your personality with your “the sun dont shine on ur @ss”. How else would I percieve a being like you? I see you are trying to allign positivity to that ugly sentence. Take note that we are all unique and decode messages differently.

  71. How about getting to the root cause of all these problems at UNZA? How about finding out if the govt is delivering on its requirements? How about just closing colleges permanently to satisfy the politicians who don’t know that education requires attention and funds? If these politicians think education is expensive, lets try ignorance.
Now to UNZA, how come you fail to source funds from corporations like the mining companies? How come FAZ clinched the deal for paying the coach while you guys are still wallowing in the shallow waters of mediocrity? Are you telling that you don’t know how to write and source grants? Sometimes you need to resourceful.

  72. Zambian govt is like a drunk parent who resorts to stupid anger and violence if a child reminds him that the school needs school fees and the kid needs new school shoes. I find it awful that some people due to lack of reasoning and their insensitivity of the importance of have a good meal before you go studies can faulty the students. Do you really expect these kids to do very good in class zigoro? Come Levy. How come your wife was being driven home for lunch everyday when she could have eaten that kapenta with her fellow students. Darlington Mwape stayed at UNZA and he did all the homework and research for Maureen, but you used to pay him for that.

  73. Iwe Chi FINDLAY (# 80,81)uli chipuba,Waba ishina no meaning. How do u support these grade sevens when they fire at a student in his hostel. Are you so thick headed like them that you forget that there is no price tag for life…***** ..i Wonder Who employed you?Wanya Ku UNZA SUZAKAPUNZILA PAMOZI NAVIMA DULL CHILDREN VAKO..sha..

  74. why why the commotion my dears?
those grown men should have not started that mess in the first place.
Policemen are trained to start with tear gas perhaps there were too many lives and thats why they opted for shooting.
I am a retired policeman myself living in canada now. as harsh as it sounds those boys deserve what they got.
UNZA, CBU cannot keep closing because of this and that.
    One love my fellow zambians.

  75. #93

with all due respect sir, but i find it hard to believe that you actually support what the police did.

We all believe that the students were wrong as well to engage in violence and not through dialogue and peaceful means.

As a retired citizen of Zambia you should know better u need to set a good example. don’t say those kids deserve what happened to them what if it was your kid?

I think the police were barbarians. how can u use alive bullets against a crowd with sticks and stones. common people is this what we call justice???? the police should have used less dangerous weapons to control the mob.

  76. #91-92

iwe chi Finlay what does your name mean anyway. Waba small blain atase.

think man look at both sides of the story be critical analyze the situation ya finto. don’t just open your mouth and utter rubbish and insults to people who are actually more intelligent than you.

it just shows how dull chap you are. stupid *****. next time you have something to say use a bit of your brain. makaka.

  77. 91, to start with why do you tag yourself ” zambia 1″? I have closely followed all your comments in most of the subjects, and i have realised that, you are good at opening your dirty teeth and display idnorance. For……

  78. This is very sad reading! SAD NEWS INDEED. In all fairness and normalcy, how can the ZP surely use live bullets to control the situation?

Former President Chiluba let the Paramilitary Police beat up students in August 2000 and now we see this. Please, ZP how do you:

“Police also fired teargas at student hostels to disperse them.”

and expect students to stay calm? Following students to their rooms is always in bad faith! Use new tactics before the “ZP Service” reverts back to “ZP Force”.

  79. Like i said CHI FINDLAY #91 & 92 KU UNZA KWEVE SUZAKA PUNZILAKO Ndaba nzelu ULIBILETU.NAVIBANA VAKO VADOTI VONSE SIVIZAKA PUNZILAKO.Useless parent in Future…Your talk sounds sacarstic and, cheap and combonic (im right on this one).

  82. @ Nsama…#78

Well well well, thank you very much for the well articulated and educated response…you are exactly what Zambia needs,a great thinker hey!!

And what would advice the unpaid farmers (as reported last week),unpaid pensioners, suppliers, civil servants and what about the person still waiting for ARV drugs….

I can here your answer lets all riot,attack/damage anything in sight and guess what ask the victims/potential victims of your actions to understand.

Eureka we’ve found the answer! You are indeed great mind mate,

  83. You fools, find the real cause before you begin to jump on each other’s throats. Why is it in Zambai only where students have to struggle for Book and Meal allowances? All the students that study abroad do not experinec this type and kind of nosense, why??? Where on earth have you heard of the entire haed of State, the President, talking of government not attending to a critical situation like this? (At the Airport leaving the country for that matter)

Let the government and the people of Zambia look athe real cause. Forget about labelling each as PF or MMD or what what…

  84. why live bullets were used that the police officers ran out of teargas canisters during their encounter with students.

The excuse that police officers ran out of teargas canister is stupid because police officers should have run away.

Students should not attack innocent motorists because they must be educated so that the country can benefit from that.Students at UNZA and the Copperbelt University (CBU) are reasonably paid more than some general Government workers.

  85. @ P Fufu….106

Please care to enlighten us which country provides free book and meal allowances to students, which abroad is that,…positively please.

  87. It is not good to exchange insults like the one ones above.in all that we write,do,and say .The heavenly massengers chronicles everything.the judgement of God will be meted on us soon .God bless

  88. Yebo George ayi ucipona mucisi? Or is it someone impersonating? I will arrest them musa.

  89. POLICEMEN open fire with LIVE ammunition on STUDENTS. There are 2 fundamental problems with this: Policemen are empowered by the laws of the land to maintain public order for the sake of Zambian citizens, the force with which they maintain order is NOT absolute it is qualified by law- it must be proportional- rubber bullets are designed for riot control, police should use them not live bullets. Secondly, students are citizens just like everyone of us-its easy to say “its good they deserved it” when its not your child who was shot-the law must be obeyed if not what is to stop unlawful force being used against other citizens like you and I?
