Herve Has The Last Say On Mbesuma

Share

Collins Mbesuma’s days as king of Zambia are seemingly over after head coach Herve Renard today revealed that the fallen star striker must work very hard to gain a place in the team.

“He (Mbesuma) has to work very hard,” Renard said today upon arrival back in Lusaka from Ghana with Zambia where the team lost 1-0 to Togo in their opening 2010 World/Africa Cup Group 11 qualifier played on May 31 in Accra.

“I can’t promise Mbesuma anything, yes he has some problem with the weight and he has to be fit.”

Renard said he had also laid down the house rules to Mbesuma in Ghana after he was debriefed about the strikers training camp antics of late coming and excuses.

“I told him the past is not my problem, the future is my problem,” the Frenchman said.

Mbesuma, who has scored 11 competitive goals for Zambia since making his senior debut in 2003, trained with Zambia in Ghana last week after joining camp in Accra on May 27, failed to make Zambia’s final 18-man team for last Saturday game against Togo due to poor fitness.
The striker recently cut ties with Bursaspor of Turkey just a season gone into a three-year contract with the side.

Poor fitness due to a recurring knee injury coupled with weight problems saw the 24-year-old striker play less than four full matches with Bursaspor since joining the Turkish top-flight club from English FA Cup champions Portsmouth last August.

Mbesuma also failed to make Zambia’s final team for this years Africa Cup finals in Ghana due to poor form.

Meanwhile, Zambia regroup this Thursday in Lusaka to prepare for the June 15 away World/Africa Cup Group 11 qualifier against Swaziland in Mbabane.

  1. These problems have been well documented since this guy was at Portsmouth. Why can’t he do something about it? When did this Kid get this spoiled? Don’t we have senior people who can pull this Boy aside and advise him? Am sure he is not as bad as Emmanuel Zulu. So many examples to learn from, why it it so hard for this Kid? I join in ..FAT BOY

  2. too much berger king Mbesuma…but we are all behind u fat boy.loss that weight and show us that you are still the greatest point man in zambia.this man has potential let us not desert him but help him recover.his going through some much right now..no club and the country should surely help him recover.

  3. But how long is he going to go through his crisis, you all remember during a world cup qualifier when soccer fans pulled him out of a Tavern and Kalu had to cover his back..This was over two years ago, and we are still dealing with the same problem..what is wrong with him. Time is not waiting for him to sort his act, and new talent is coming online..those who can help this boy please do it..

  4. WE have heard too much about our fat boy mbesuma. They are alot of people who have been advising our fat boy over his weight and the issues of discpline. It seems some people are untrainable(mbesuma). It is high time he started to listern from the experts for the good of footballing career.

  5. He needs to defat himself and get some shape like yeboah of ghana,he got talent and a quest for the goal,he still has a chance, please Mbesuma humble yourself and stay focused, stop living a life of bling, learn from ba kalu.

  6. Too bad mbesuma, but understand the coach has called him to train on thursday to be monitored by renard’s assistant. I wish the boy could regain his fitness. We need him.

  7. Don’t throw Mbesuma away. Why is Zambia paying for those imported 2 physical trainers?? Is is not to help these slim and fat boys? Mbesuma has talent and he used to be great… he still has 10 years of soccer in his legs, pressure is on the coach and his assistant. Lets see what they are made of by bringing Mbesuma back up front…

  8. Mbesuma is useless and is finished. Lets call a spade a spade. This guy is finished and let him follow Litana and wawa. Finish. Why should we pretend that he is still good. Alipwa and if you finish you know where to go, i.e. farming.

  9. Indeed the boy is finished… For how long is zed going to wait for him to regain fitness? How many coaches have advised on the same, at Portsmouth some 3+ yrs, our PP just before lsat CAN, and many others. Its his past deeds catching up, remember age is also creeping in. Since 2003 he has only scored 11 goals…. as our top man??????? Where will he be in 2010. Anyway work hard and get a place at least pa ‘bench’ to come in as super sub coz i can’t see you last 90 minutes.

  10. Mbesuma needs to set his priorities right, needs to stop playing the victim and get himself in shape cause its not too late for him. But if he continues to be in his current form for another whole year, then definitely he is a gonner…after all, we all know that he is not really 24!!! Therefore, his real age is also not on his side.

  11. When "ntofontofo" was in still in SA, gordon igesund warned him to play another season there because he wasnt ready for europe yet. Everybody thought he just wanted to keep him down but the results are there for all to see, sad story indeed. Mbesuma work When "ntofontofo" was in still in SA, gordon igesund warned him to play another season there because he wasnt ready for europe yet. Everybody thought he just wanted to keep him down but the results are there for all to see, sad story indeed. Mbesuma work

    Phanx

  12. I believe skill doesnt finish with lack of fitness, so fat boy can still make it if he only reduces on chibuku. He has to work really hard because those young boys are improving daily

  13. Iam beginning to like this Coach, somehow i think he is serious with the players, unlike the past coaches who were lenient with players, this one seems to be a no nonsense kind of Guy. I hope Mbesuma reports to camp 2moro and try to regain his players coz trust these youngsters Mayuka and Kola are coming up real hard

  14. I beginning to swallow my words, I think I like this guy he is soft spoken but firm, I think this guy means well, The actual report in the Post is very interesting, its like he has given Mbesuma his expectations and its up to Mbesuma to live up to them, nothing out of this world, timely camp reporting, keep fit (which as a serious sportman no one should remind you), discipline, very simple rules. Let us see FAT BOY now do it, he is quickly becoming emmanuel zulu.

  15. I like this guyz stlye, check his physique, he looks fit himself. he is realist, frank n couragious, win or lose i think Great kalu hasnt made a mistake is settling for this coach. his fantastic

  16. Don’t blame the boy, he lacks education hence makes very unsound judgement thus wrong decisions. The glamour in got in SA was too much for him to handle.Growing up in a small mining town, boom Joburg, playing for the biggest team maybe in Africa, Kaizer chief, and instant hit, winning cars for prizes here ….. the rise and fall of Mbesuma. He is young though, if hes professional enough he will come back.I would love him back in SA, maybe something will rekindle his lost glory.Good Luck my boy, you are a natural born striker, best produced after Lota, Nyirenda, Late Kelvin Mutale, Chitalu, etc.The ball is in your court … pick and hit it.

  17. Mbesuma has the ball in his court. The weight problem has to do with his unsavoury lifestyle. Its time to own up and know that football needs displine to play. Actually sometime after he left Maritimo I read on the Bursaspor website that they had put him on a diet before he commenced training with the main team. Now all serious minded athletes know you ahve to be trim and fit. No 2 ways about it. So spot on Renard. As for the player once described by Portsmouth as the ‘African Hurricane’ who had also caught the eye of Real Madrid (Yes, Real), Blacburn Rovers, Newcastle and Bolton Wanderers, no one is beyond redemption. Amano!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Miyoba taata, what can you say of the education of the players of the Chabala era? The youngman is just a fool don’t blame it on his education or lack of it.

  19. Stop bothering yourselves my pipo,Mbesuma is VERY indiscipline and until he works on his descipline he will just end up like HARRISON WAWA CHONGO whose sport now is begging Chibuku in MUFULIRA.Its unfortunate that these lads lack foresight, when they get 2pin they think all is done.I also do not agree with some pipo when they say Mbesuma will recover from whatever is haunting him,MBESUMA HAS REACHED A POINT OF NO RETURN just write him off,he’s a like a fallen hero. He’ll very soon join the likes of:
    MAYBIN MGAIWA-chibuku
    ELIJAH LITANA-chibuku
    WAWA CHONGO-chibuku
    ALLAN KAMWANGA-chibuku
    VINCENT MUTALE-DISGRANTLED SOLDIER

  20. I regrate becoming too humble,i have been quiet for too long.Iscored 7 goals for maritimo,35 goals for chiefs,13 goals for Zambia,2 goals for portsmouth and two goals for busarspor.
    thanx,
i quit zambian football and pliz stop writing about me.thanx for the comments

  21. It appears Mbesuma’s rise to stardorm was a fluke. No good player can get finished within such a short period of time. Mbesuma, just tell the Zambian soccer fraternity what your problems are. Maybe they will be of help. We need you more than before.

  22. mwamona, i told you people, now mbesuma has resigned.
pliz beg him not to go ahead with his resignation, other wise twakulalusafwe.

  23. HA! i’m afraid how can my mbesuma resign! pliz mbesuma we still need you.you are our dependable player we have at the moment.
We can’t afford losing you at a critical time like this one.
    go zambia go

  24. hey guys stop insulting my boy.U Zambians dont appreciate.Mbesuma has done alot for zambia snd he needs the help of all of u zambians.Dont throw him away.

  25. I think swazilande is happy with Mbesuma’s resignation.
what a sad development.i wish i could talk to him face to face.
Youngman dont get offended with internet comments, people just talk.calm down.

  26. Well, Mbesuma has had issues. However, I still have faith in the ability of the guy “when fit and in form”. When Portsmouth dumped him in portugal, look at what he did. he was the talk of the month. He scored goals…that is after portsmouth had no faith in him. he became club’s top scorer though he didn’t play all games.
    boy can do it.
My hope is for him to recover that form. i still think, in the last 10 years, he has been the most reliable striker Zambia has had…when fit.
Put him in the box together with Katongo, Kola , mayuka, chamanga.. I can bet on him to score the most goals. Facts prove it.

  27. Don’t blame ba mbesuma ni ba big buyer bama shakez.we will soon make a mabalas or drunkeds team and am sure he will deliver.

  28. PLIZ PIPO LET US MOVE ON.MBESUMA IS IRRELEVANT TO THE CURRENT NATIONAL TEAM.HE HAD HIS HEY DAYS & THEY ARE GONE

  29. Zambians u should not be worried with the resignation of the fat boy mbesuma on the LT. The real mbesuma the big buyer of shakez does not even know that LT exists. One more thing that our fat boy should appreciate is that criticism will help to build him.

  30. The boy is clubless as at now. He should work on reducing his weight so that Jose can recruit him at INTER. The Frenchman was right not to feature him in the Togo game.
    finished character….

  31. No surprises here. You guys are the same chaps who bought Portsmouth jerseys! Hypocrite – you criticize when it suits you. Meanwhile, if I may comment…matumbo yako Collins!

  32. How Hard is it to pick between ur Soccer career and ur dietary Need

am officially Sick to the stomach of hearing about these Mbesuma comments…

and whoever is tryin to impersonate mbesuma on this Blog get a life

we all know that Mbesuma doesnt even have the time and probably this resources at this point to even get to an internet CAFE or let alone a PC at his home..

on the brighter side am sure he will come good one day and there will be nothing but praises about him from everyone haha…

and what this in the news about him goin back to Kaizer Chiefs

  33. Don’t throw away anyone, as for Mbesuma it is up to himself and not anybody else. Right now we need to be discussing progress for I feel that inspite of the loss to Togo, under the new coach and the stance of Namulambe (Sports minister, who knows a lot of details about Mbesuma and Kalu) we are on the way forward. Beleive Mbesuma’s inclusion was at the recommendation of Kalu (his former agent), so when this sports minister speaks like that I side with him and from now on I will support govt in all they are doing as far as Zed soccer is to progress

  34. true the boy was unfortunate not to have had an education, but so how many stars are in the same boots, rooney, ronaldo lot!!! it should be a deliberate policy of the club to give back to the player by educating them for they can’t play football for ever, by the time rooney retires, the boy will be cultured, coherent and maybe well educated.
Africa has management issues in all fields.
i love thenames though, ntofu ntofu!!!!!!!!!!

  35. #38-Pse dont demean me.U think have no resources to be on the internet.Do u know how much am worthy? do u know how much i made in South africa?Do u know that i was on a full time payroll while at Portsmouth!!!!.Have enough money and i will just go into business thats all.By the way i ahve wireless connection at my place with three computers.Dont doubt am the real tofontofo on the blog.As for my improved English-i had a personal tutor in south Africa and at Portsmouth.

  36. #41 prove to us that you are real by answering the following questions:
    1. Who was your coach at Portsmouth? In what street did you live at portsmouth?
    2. In what county in the UK is Portsmouth?
    3. How many goals did you score for the reserves for portsmouth?
    4. Where does your father live and what is his name?
We wish the real Mbesuma well because we know he can still deliver when fully fit. I became a portsmouth club card carrying member when he joined the team. I still go to watch them at times.

  37. coach just concetrate on preparing your team and stop hiding in Mbesuma’s fitnes as if he is the only player u have. We need good results against Swazi. Or else you wont like to be in zed if we lose against Swazi.

  38. I dont think Mbesuma is finished completely. My personal advise to him is that let him find a club in SA or France. I am sure he is still an asset to Zambian football.

  39. # 22 funny, its true I dont think Mbesuma can even turn on the computer, perhaps he can blog using a type writer

  40. Mbesuma is still our player lets try to advise him to bhev himself so that he can keep his form and start were he left 3 seasons ago.my personal advise to him is let him use this opportunity with this new coach and try to regain his form for the swazi game and prove to us that he is still the same Mbesuma we know.come on fat boy i know that you can do it.

  41. ‘Firm’ is not easy to accomodate, especially for pipo with humble backgrounds. You cannot be a sportsman and still do and eat anything you want – even GMOs & Chibuku.

  42. It has been reported that he will be going to kaizer chiefs next season. This might be great for Amakhosi, they can make Mbesuma regain his form and again sell him to a European club.

In life, when things go wrong it is wise to start all over again sometimes.
I personally beleive this guy can still get back on his feet and left our flag even higher, one thing we need to understand his that we should not always be Judges but be rescuers.
we should also remember that the guy has had a knee injury for sometime.Lets give him advice and guardance that we benefit him and the country at large.
    I rest my case.
    what more?
    1 love

  43. If you are a soccer player in training five days a week, there is no way you can carry weight. When did you ever hear of a pro soccer player with a weight problem? You burn too much calories even if you drink everey day.
    The kid is lazy period.
There is a bigger problem than meets the eye!!

  44. NUMBER 27 YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW YOUR NAME,SHAMEFULL.EVEN IF WE WRITE THESE COMMENTS MBESUMA WILL NOT BE ABLE TO READ THEM,PROFFESSIONAL ILLITERATE.

  45. # 22 ka mbesuma you were asked by disgusted spectator # 42 to prove to us that you are the real mbesuma by answering the questions that he did set for u. Ka mbesuma we need answers come on!!

  46. i,m going back to where they care, chiefs.
i will never come to play for zed again as i have resigned zambian football.pliz no more phon calls and i don’t need to proove anything

  47. Faz has employed at huge costs a physical trainer, so let this man do his job instead of training already fit players

  48. #54 no trainer can make a player fit if the player is not dedicated. Are you telling me there were no trainers at his former clubs? The ball is in mbesuma’s court.

  49. #29. You should say mbesuma I LOVE U. Don’t include us. Mbesuma chisushi sana. let him rot and rot and rot until he joins his friend in kanakantapa farm.

  50. #51-You are an id.iot stupid makaka.Ur level of hinking is very low and i cant argue with you.You are not of my type i.diot.

  51. #53 do you know that it is criminal to steal someone else’s identity? When the real person finds out you may be taken to court. With good intelligence your whereabouts can still be found. Watch out. We need serious bloggers and not crooks.

  52. Mbesuma is a nice boy.. But he has social problem. He should try to leave his wife wo cooks oily food and fyakusashila. He should Hire a specialist(nuitritionist).. And also a personal trainer to ge him back on track. He shud also consider surgery and liposuction to remove those facts from his bums and stomach.
    Otherwise the Boy is wasted.

  53. Guys, lets not run away from the fact that Mbesuma is just as indispline as the likes of WAWA, LITANA, ALLAN KAMWANGA and other current chibuku boys. This is the fella you call a sports man who keeps stuffing himself with cheese burgers and whole lot of junk food, and don’t forget that he’s the same fella who missed camp and later spoted doing ichi tin cha chibuku in the copperbelt, he’s the same chap who disappeared in London after international duty when he was meant to report for duty in Portugul. Apart from being spoted in McDonalds, burger King and KFC, Mbesuma did nothing at pompey…there is nothing much we can do for the FAT BOY. I wonder whose gonna put us on the Map again!!!

  54. People stop name calling. Let’s give this player the support he needs to make a turn around. I suggest that he goes to Arakan Barracks and train with the Bufalos team or be attached to a platoon for two months. At least he will acquire discipline and physical fitness. The other important thing is being on a proper diet. I am sure his trainers know what he has to do to regain his status. Losing weight in a short time requires determination and willingness to concede to professional advice.

  55. Bane, bola panshi ! if food is the issue for his weight problem he is back in luanshya now with no fast foods so let us wait and see!

  56. Mbesuma you need to contact me, i can help you with your weight. we need you i belive you are a great player. you need at list six month of special Weight Loss Diet. and serious traning. first stop eating ubwali too many carbs and bread it is not good for you.please contact me am ready to help you for free.

  57. #64 thats good neighbourliness and citizenship. Anyother sports scientists/dietitians out there to help? A national team needs a diet specialist. The ball in Collin’s court. He could be a good player if we all rallied around him. Look at how Wayne Rooney has been changed from a brat to a gentleman by being supported!

  58. #64 thats good neighbourliness and citizenship. Anyother sports scientists/dietitians out there to help? A national team needs a diet specialist. The ball in Collin’s court. He could be a good player if we all rallied around him. Look at how Wayne Rooney has been changed from a brat to a gentleman by being supported, councelled and encouraged! Let us not lose another good player as we have lost Emanuel Zulu and from the look of things Fwayo Tembo.

  59. Some of you guys who are condemning Mbesuma and even trying to make fun of his level of education are yourselves demonstrating the highest level of illiteracy. The other guy(# 48) can’t even tell the difference between fame and firm, and you want to blow Mbesuma’s low level of education out of proportion. Come on guys, Collins just needs to be given the chance to rediscover himself, I STILL CONSIDER HIM AN ASSET TO OUR NATIONAL TEAM.

  60. I think Herve is right in all regards. This boy must learn to behave himself if he is to get ahead in life. seems to me he does not have the discipline to make it in life. Mbesuma, the best people in life realised what made them what they are and took the time to excel.

  61. WE ARE GRATEFULL FOR THE GOOD GAMES YOU PLAYED FOR ZAMBIA MBESUMA BUT WHEN YOU DON’T DELIVER THE HUSBAND YOUR HUSBAND YOUR COUNTRY HAS TO DIVORCE YOU SORRY. ALL THE VERY BEST WHERE U’RE AT.

  62. Finally he can’t play in the next fixture for zambia probably even the next, is it but i won’t say all i know is that it will give an opportunity for that player taking his position to prove himself. i remember we had a time that we used to believe in the big names like kalu and they most times delivered this one mbesuma looks like he was not even pregnant ha! ah! LETS GIVE EACH OTHER OPPORTUNITIES AND MAKE OUR COUNTRY PROUD THERE ARE SO MANY UPCOMING YOUNGSTARS PL’SE WATCH 5THE INTERSCHOOLS TOURNAMENTS
