Swaziland Vs Zambia Match Comments

Share

THE Zambia soccer team face Swaziland at Somhlolo Stadium here, knowing too well that a win, in whatever format, will rekindle hopes of qualifying to the next round of the conjoined 2010 African Cup and World Cup qualifiers.

This game is a matter of life and death for Zambia and a win will subsequently position the squad as heavy favourites to emerge from Group 11 which has Swaziland leading on better goal aggregate.

Both Swaziland and Togo share three points apiece following their respective wins at home.

However, going by how the Sihlangu’ shocked Togo a week ago, Zambia coach Herve Renard will predictably preach the ‘Prudent Concept’ to his players and as such, phrases like ‘don’t underrate’, ‘don’t be over-confident’ and ‘don’t be complacent’, will feature prominently in the coach’s pre-match sermon.

But too many ‘don’ts’ in a game plan may just spoil the party as the players may ‘self-censor’ their prowess and fail to freely express themselves on the turf of the small 15, 000 seater capacity Somhlolo stadium which is expected to be filled to the brim.

The game will be played on an artificial turf that technically could work against Zambia, as admitted by skipper Christopher Katongo.

Apart from the difficult turf, Zambia might also be intimidated by the expected partisan crowd as it seems the attendance of spectators brings with it renewed energy and euphoria, and settings strikingly resembling Swaziland’s renowned reeds ceremony, which is only two months away.

In this case, the puzzle Zambia face in this encounter is to ever weigh situations on the ground and reconcile them in a split of a second, with the touchline ‘control tower’ battle plan and instructions.

Failure to heed touchline calls may result in a series of substitutions and, worse still, being peeled off the squad as a ‘modest’ way of announcing who is boss.

No doubt, Zambia has a glittering historical head-to-head advantage over the Swazis, but in this era of upsets, the Chipolopolo boys will have to summon all the makings of the true winner to bag the priceless three points.

Despite Zambia having a better record, Swaziland are unbeaten at home by the Chipolopolo boys stretching back to February 2, 2001 when the Sihlangu were last defeated

Swaziland might feel relieved with the absence of elusive Collins Mbesuma whose name is still embedded in their minds after terrorising them in the 2005 COSAFA Castle Cup mini competition at Woodlands stadium with his brace before Portugal-bound Rainford Kalaba added a clincher in Zambia ’s 3-1 victory.

Both players are out of the squad with the former reported to be busy finalising his move to his new Portuguese side, Bragga, but one wonders what could be more important than playing for the nation at such a crucial time than rushing to go to the club whose league is currently on recess.

Another blow for Renard is the absence of Sweden-based midfielder Isaac Chansa, who will miss the two qualifiers against Swaziland after accruing a red-card in the first match against Togo in Accra.

But Renards is not short of talent in his squad and a reservoir of youngsters like Emmanuel Mayuka, Clifford Mulenga and Roger Kola whose feet can fit in any shoe.

Renard’s midfield pack is well filled with the presence of Felix Katongo who undoubtedly has the capacity of rising to the occasion when it matters most while France-based striker Jacob Mulenga who just recovered from a nose injury will bring with him the experience that can lead Zambia to record an avalanche of goals from this match.

Swaziland, who are hugely motivated after beating Togo, will once again be looking to Siza Dlamini and Collen Salelwako who scored in that shock result.

Swaziland coach Ephraim Mashaba will also be looking to Dennis Masina and Tony Tsabedze for dating runs into Zambia’s half to be manned by Chintu Kapamba, Billy Mwanza and William Chinyama.

Meanwhile, Swaziland coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba revealed his respect for Zambia and predicted a tough encounter in this afternoon’s match and singled out Zambia captain Katongo as a dangerous player.

“I take this game to be like a cup final of this group. I know how Zambia approaches tough encounters. I know Zambian football at all levels. It will be a very tough encounter,” he said.

Probable line-ups:
Zambia – Kennedy Mweene, William Chinyama, Joseph Musonda, Chintu Kampamba, Billy Mwanza, Stophira Sunzu, Felix Katongo, Clifford Mulenga, Chris Katongo, Emmanuel Mayuka, James Chamanga.
Swaziland – Njabuliso Simelane, Dennis Fakudze, Themba Manana, Sihawu Dlamini, Zakhele Manyatsi, Stopper Mthethwa, Gcina Mazibuko, Dennis Masina, Siza Dlamini, Collen Salelwako, Tony Tsabedze.

  2. Mayuka 1 goal, Chris Katonga 1 Goal, Roger Kola 2 goals…..Swaziland face saver will come from a certain Dlamini. Final score 4-1 Chipolopolo

  4. @ ANONYMOUS; NEVER USE THE WORD BUSHMEN. IT IS UNCIVIL AND DEROGATORY. THERE ARE BUSHEMEN IN ZAMBIA,ZIMBABWE, NAMIBIA, BOTSWANA AND SOUTH AFRICA AND AS HUMAN BEINGS THEY NEED RESPECT. THE PIGMIES OF CONGO KINSHASA NEEDS RESPECT TOO. WHEN ZAMBIA PLAY AGAINST CONGO NOBODY SAYS CHIPOLOPOLO VS PIGMIES. BEHAVE YOURSELF.WE CAN EASILY TRACE YOU AND GET TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. NOBODY CALLS ZAMBIANS DEROGATORY NAMES SUCH AS MAKWEREKWERE OR MAROTSI IN SWAZILAND. DON’T INSULT KING MSWATI, POLYGAMY IS VERY CENTRAL TO THE AFRICAN CULTURE. THE SWAZI SITUATION IS THEREFORE NOT UNIGUE. YOUR GREAT GRANDFATHER HAD MANY WIVES AND CONCUBINES BUT HE WAS NEVER INSULTED FOR THAT.
    KASUBA FROM MBABANE

  5. Ok Kasuba, we hear you. Since you are in Mbabane, can you provide us with text commentary for the game. Am sure it is on your national TV

  6. Ba kasuba naimwe, Swazis are as xeno as South Africans, I’ve done my grade 4 & 5 at their Usuthu primary in Manzini. Foreigners are called Mangangawane there.

  7. nil.nil. Haf tym Stophira Sunzu has been stretcherd off following an aerial tussle with Denis Masina Nyambe Mulenga has come in

  8. #14 kasuba also is just a bushman, kwaliba umuntu getting so annoyed alefwayo nokulila, people are just joking around have a sense of humour nangu niwe bushman, iwe u must just laugh along… ba toki nabo bwafya… alo nishinga shinga chanda beu?

  9. Chipolopolo is struggling to win the midfield battle hence anchor maun Sunzu has been replaced. I think Swaziland has packed its midfield.

  10. I guess this Kasuba is not in Mbabane. He could be a real Bushman in a tree with a Laptop with a 3G card given to him as a research project by some phone company in SA trying to integrate indigenous people the main stream. We all can see it is 0-0 on fifa.com. Anyone with the analysis of the first half?

  11. Chaps, as it is half-time can someone please give us an update on how things are going. Tell us who is impressing, who has possession, have there been any close shaves… come on guys let us know.

I am done with trying to find Zambia games on the net, I got taken for a ride by the chaps at Africast and what’s more even caused some of you to be cheated too! Sorry about that.

  12. #14 Kasuba, like #37 MODERATE said stop bicthing about been called out as a Chanda Beu cousin. I also read that you support polygmy, that practice is for fools like you and your so called Queen Mswati. Bu saka, not in this 21st century kolwe.Just shut a Fuc! out and be with your 50 wives fool.

  13. Iam Ghanaian man just concentrate on the game. I thought chris katongo would buried at least 4 goals into the Swazi net by now…

  14. #46 Kasuba just shut the ffff out, if you from Ghana then stop writing sh!t on this site loser. Ghana lost go and mourn with your wives nkusa.

  15. The Black Stars lost but that did not put our chances for qualifications into jeopardy. Mind your language young man I work for Afraica Mass Integrated Intelligence Systems so I can locate ur pc and very soon u will be in trouble.

  16. Phinda Dlamini- a very dangerous, explosive and deadly Swazi striker has been introduced. Mashaba wants to take the game to the Zambians….20 minutes left Chris Katongo has not scored yet

  17. #53 Kasuba,F you go ahead you loser, son of a loser, you can’t threaten me fool. I DON’T CARE WHERE THE F YOU WORK. YOU’RE JUST A CLEANER.JUST ENJOY OUR GAME YOU LOSER, GO BACK TO GHANA, ZAMBIAN WANNA BE FOOL!!

  18. #53 kasuba who are u trying to scare here with ur petty intelligence systems, if u were well connected technologically u could have been broadcasting the game live online, u probably have a two band radio with a hangwire as an antenna bust herding cattle for king mswati in swaziland, just go screw goats.

  19. Chris is in midfield. Nyambe is a defender. Probably not many balls going forward and this is failing to release Chris to go forward and score. But what about Mayuka, and Jacob?

  20. I don’t see Swaziland donating points with only 2 minutes left. I thank God Iam a very educated headboy armed with a laptop and broadband internet… these games are tricky mind u Rwanda beat Morrocco 3-1, Malawi beat the African champions Egypt 1-0

  21. sorry guyz Zambia’s game is almost over and its still 0 – 0 according to fifa.com,we are not going any where this time

  22. So if Zed wins the next two games, does it mean she will be on the helm of the group? Soccer analysts, please advise.

  23. Maybe we should start with Mayuka and Kola upfront next time. I understand Nyambe Mulenga played good in the middle of the pack. Could he be the holding midfielder we so desparately need?

  24. Thank god, we’ve collected a point away from home. This puts us in a very good position to win the group neither Swazis or Togo can win in Zambia. Amen

  25. I dont think its a good result. We always put ourselves under pressure. This coach should have had a plan but so far i am disappointed. We have the team but we need a planner who can out wit other teams.Though we have apoint but Swaziland has 4 in as many games

  26. shame indeed.uyu umu guys Renard, why is he putting katongo in the wrong place eh. echo tulushila bola, twalikwata ama players but combination is what fails us.i have always said that its not just abt the players, but the selection and positioning too.so imagine,we have chris katongo in the wrong place, what do you expect.zoona, all those preparations and tax payers money nokubwela pofye with nathing eh.even a 1-1 draw is better than 0-0.the guys did nathing.iwe Renard if you are reading this blog, uposeko amano.KCM is giving you a hefty salary, chawama tapela ba Patrick Phiri.as usual,we will start hoping for mathematics to save us.sad.

  27. Zulu..Keep dreaming…This group will come to goal difference. Zambia is at a disadvantage as each team is now going to be more determined to gain a point. What Swaziland need to do now is avoid a lose in Zambia and also go and force a draw or reduce the loss.. if Zambia beats Togo.. I see Swaziland progressing ahead.

  28. Disappointing result, but destiny is still in our own hands. If we win our home games then we’ll still qualify.

  29. What better plan could he have come with? He started with two strikers from the outset-Chamanga and Mayuka plus three attacking midfielders and one defensive one. He played with three strikers in the last 15 minutes of the game. Coaches don’t score goals-players do. I haven’t watched the game but I think the team selection was spot on

  30. Clearly we still have some way to go before we can achieve anything on the big stage. Even if we win our group, we may be eliminated in the next round when only big boys will remain. From the look of things if we do not assemble all the players we do not stand a chance. According to zambianfootball.com we had very few shots at goal and the swazi had better chances. We shall beat swaziland in Zed. We are the first to get a point away from home in our grp if this any concellation..

  31. let us give chance to those who can represent africa better at world cup. We don’t have what it takes to do any better than Swaziland.

  32. Looking at this weekend’s results in general, this is still good for Zambia. A lot of big football countries have lost away from home. I had a fear that same would happen to Zambia. Failure to score is a problem that we have now. Zambian team is never balanced and the chaps need to die harder for us. The next two games will not be easy at all and the team will be in a lot of pressure playing at home and high expectation to win those games. Is this the end of Zambian fotball? How come our players can not play in the more competitive leagues in Europe? We have a cancer eating us in all areas of lives. Look at the economy, the kwacha is gaining value but prices continue going up too. KK eleven

  33. where is that fighting spirit we had when we beat south africa 3-1 kanshi eh? thats what we needed for this game.Chris should be upfront and leave out mayuka if it means doing so,o let him play mu mid field himself coz chris waz also fyengad to be put mu mid field.we will wait and see.at least our defense seems to have been strong today to manage to hold the swazi’s.

  34. if pp was coach we would have qualified by now. still bottom in the table remember. The swazis just need one win to qualify and hope it will not happen this weekend. Go chipolopolo go Zambia

  35. Boss I’m as disappointed, but as I told you this was going to happen. We shall win 3-0 next week and bit Togo as well. It is next round where we may be eliminated. We are not good enough to go on the big stage. But as I told you, we do not win in Swaziland. A draw may be good concidering our history in the mountain kingdom. The cream that perished in Gabon were beaten there 2-1 but won 5-0 in Lusaka. Swazis have 4 points from 2 home games, they still have to travel. They are very poor travellers.

  36. Hi, guys i’m back after a long silent. i know the results today are turf and we are now in a weird position to win this thing. I can see the morale is down with everyone who cares about Zambia. And caution to those pipo who are not Zedians or who don’t care about our country, please don’t respond negative to my blog about this tie. you are welcome to respond to my blog if you will write positive things about our team.long live Zambia win or lose.

  37. Well well we got the worst possible result guyz we nèéd 2 win big on Saturday l fear this coach is job on training anyhow 2 wins will bring us back 2 MATHEMATICAL chances as usual lets hope 4 the best lets not lose heart anything is possible. Adios

  38. Zambia will top the group in this round and will find it difficult to qualify in the next round where we will be paired with big guns in the final qualifying round.

  39. only kalu can get on the pitch and score, but thats not what coaching is about, is not about giving fish its about teaching how to fish. Renard has no experience, he was coaching a shangai whatever team in china where there isn’t even soccer, what can he do?
Cheap is expensive, as long as we do not invest in soccer nothing will come out.
Even if Zambia win the group it has very little chance of making it to the world cup ,if it continues to struggle against such a team.

  40. $^$&%*&*()(^%$#$%^&)*(&(*^%#%@$%^%*)(&*(_)&(^*%^#%@$!#$#%$^*%*()&(_&)(%^$#%@$!#%^*%)(*&(_)&(%*^^#$%@$!#@%^*%)*&(_&)(*^%^%#@$!#@$%^%*&*(()_(_*&(^*%^wrgsdhfgkhhlui:o{()*_)(*&^%^#$%@^$%^&*()_()*&(%*^^$#%@$!#rteytrjtkyulip*(_)&(^*%#$%@$

  41. well gents, 0-0, fair result considering we played in their back yard at high altitiude.
However goals are what we need and we cant be relying on the hard working Chris all the time. We need a number 9.
We have to win our home games and its as simple as that.
We played two away games, lost 1 and drew 1, no excuses we need to have all guns blazing when the chaps come to Konkola.
Lets go boys!lets be in it to win it.
any news on how we played????????

  42. i agree with # 126, cheap is surely expensive, its either we invest in a local coach who should be sent abroad for a serious coaching programme and later have him coach our national team or get a good coach, but again, the players need to have the country at heart and die for their country because look at SA,they have been having very good coaches of late but still they have not reaped the benefits of their investments.so,we need serious and dedicated players like chris katongo n his bro whom we ve seen to give their all when they are playing for mother zambia.so,we will wiat and see, lets not be over optimistic.it has been an interesting weekend for sure.malawi 1 egpyt 0.kwali ama shock.

  43. One of the three things happens in every game win, lose or draw. But the draw with Swazi is dissapointing results to Zambia coz Zambia needed to win this game for them to have a better chance of qualifying. What will de coach and players do now? calculate group maths.

  44. 0-0 is a fair result guys. As Disgusted Spectator has gold us on more than one occasion, the Swazi’s are tough at home and we should be happy to have escaped with a point. I feel confident that we will beat them at home and Adebayor and co. will do the same to them when they travel to West Africa. I think it’ll come down to our boys and Togo in Chillies. Although our resent record against them isn’t that good, we have to remember that we weren’t at home. When they came here we sorted them out.

  45. not a bad result,i think we still have chance swazi have improved alot and their coach has given them good motivation..dont lose hope guys lets rally behind our country..

  46. indeed lets rally behind the boys but they should also be serious.before we beat SA 3-1, we were almost out of the race and so it seems even now,but miracles still happen and therefore, lets hope for the best.

  47. i think ka kalaba teka real zambian.maybe nika brother kakwa katumbi.real Zambian are commited to their nation come rain come sunshine.look at katongo.katongo and the rest of you guys well tried, next time we will win.continue working hard guys.we have seen better players than ka kalaba getting finished.

  48. Not a bad result, the remaining games are home unless we draw in one them the chances are very bright.

  49. What an escape. We should wake up instead of pretending to be heavy weights but without results. The world is not waiting for Zambia to start winning.

    Next time get serious

  50. Thanks for the advice, be a coach bakaboke and c how difficult my job is, blame it on the previous coach patrick phiri

  51. As pointed out earlier, we still control our destiny, but we have to win both games. Even a pair of 1-nil victories will be enough. Swazis can only complicate things by winning on the road. I don’t see that happening.

  52. I was One of the guys who predicted a win for Zambia, boy I was wrong!!!. Again Zambia Chips let us down.

  53. Majority of comments on this thread are generated by soccer fans and not analysts. The draw we forced away from home isn`t a bad result because all we need is to win our home games and we are home and dry.Destiny is in our hands and going by our home record against Swaziland and Togo achieving such a goal isn`t a pipedream but a practical target.
Does anybody have an idea of Swazilands home record to raise such high expectations? Those of us who have followed soccer for a while appreciate coming home with a point and avoiding a loss at all costs is some achievement.A win could have been a bonus but let`s be real and practical with our expectations.

  54. Guess we still in contention…….there are still chances though it is always miracles that we have to hold on to.Swaziland now tops the group with 4 points and Togo second with 3 points and Zambia with 1 point.Things could still turn around only if them players put in a little bit of interest and will power.Have seen some teams searching for managers and they do really look at the cv ´s of managers they get involved with.Lets wait and see……though tym for waiting for miracles should be long gone with our football.Otherwise, looking forward to next week. The coach himself has a great task ahead of him.

  55. Chapi #143 I like your openibg statement and issue of ‘practical target’, I couldn’t have said it any better, Zambia drawing away was unheard of in the past, as a maater of fact qualified to Seoul 1988, we lost to ghana away but only got it via a 2-1 aggregate. Swaziland has always been a thorn for one reason, it is difficult not to underate them period, and they always give us problems, but unless we are talking of different zambia, the chipolopolo I know, know what the expectations of their fans are. Let us go boys.

  56. Analyst or fan, i cannot just understand why we cannot score away. A draw with swazi is a win for them and they are coming with alot of confidence to Zambia. One thing we need to accept is that our soccer standards have terribly diminished. Relying on math for qualification is no good sign. We need to do more than whatever we are doing now. I still have hope anyway……….

  57. Its interesting how we have had this coach for 5 games and we still have not won any. A draw is not what is needed. I think we must begin to realise not everything foreign is good. I think both Kaumba and Phiri proved this point and have had better records.

  58. #146/147 guys I for one hear you, its like playing chess, the earlier you take away the Queen for the opponent the better. We have not been winning the games that needed to be won, as a matter of fact that worst should always be a draw away, the loss against Togo has put enormous pressure on the guys, but like I said let us look at what remains to be done which is not insurmountable, in the previous qualifiers RSA beat us at home, but guess what the dying a little which should be there in every game, when we played RSA last year they could not believe what had hit them, it was just chipolopolo going into the game with the right attitude and that is what Herve needs to work on seriously.

  59. Zambia 0 Swaziland 0. Where to Zambia now? Are we finished or we are like Italy praying for other’s performance?

  60. #53 Kasuba,ur an imbecile and stop using the name Kasuba since u said ur from Ghana.Pse stop threatening other bloggers i.diot. Ur a f.ool with rotten head.ur a shallow minded illiterate.Polygamy of what ever sort is bad.If anything king mswati is a dictator.any u can support him since ur a refugee in Swaziland.U have run away from Ghana coz of poverty. S.tupid just shut down ur computer if u dont have any sensible things to contribute.

  61. I hope you guys learn that it is better to have a Zambian (or at least African) coach. We should learn from Egypt.

  62. Santa Cruz lobbed one in from a corner following dodgy defending by the Samba Stars. Earlier Paraguay hit the upright. Half time now

  63. I don’t expect us to go to the 2010 world cup-actually I don’t want us to qualify (to save us the embarassment)-but we need to qualify to Angola so that we gain some experience for the 2014 world cup. The crop of players that will take us there are the ones from the under 20 squad assuming they remain level-headed.

  64. 2nd bookable offence for Dario Veron. Paraguay a man down with a minute gone in the second half but what a response from Paraguay-Counter attack and Brazil are two goals down!!!

  65. Brazil are chasing the game and are leaving themselves exposed to Paraguay’s counters. Cabanas hits the cross bar, the rebound straight into Santa Cruz’s legs and his resulting shot is cleared off the line. What a cracker of a game!!!

  66. 64 minutes gone and Brazil not causing any real threats at the Paraguay goal. FIFA world rankings don’t stand for much at the moment-It’s Paraguay, who are ranked 26 places below Brazil that are in control even though they are a man down

  67. The beatiful game!!! Is anyone watching Turkey-Czech republic??? What a hauler of an error by Petr Cech and then a turn around by Turkey. 4 minutes added time and the Turkish goalie is red carded!!! Turkay have made all the three subs as well!!! What drama

  68. And Turkey (The underdogs) win it!!! What drama!!! this must be the most dramatic last ten minutes of a game I have ever seen.

  69. Brazil are clearly out of their depth. It will be interesting to see how they perform against Argentina on Thursday. The ref blws the final whistle and Paraguay still remain at the helm of their group with 13 points.

  70. Football has its own surprises. What a turn around by Turkey! Indeed some of the best last 10 mins ever witinessed in european football. I can only compare with with DRC and bukina faso at ACON finals in ougadougu where DRC were three-nil down with 5 minutes to go. They scored three goals in 5 mins and won on penalty shoot-out. For me thats the best come back ever.

  71. Yeah, that was a great one!!! Surprise surprise, Argentina are losing to Ecuador at home. What a cracker of a goal it was as well. 7 minutes to go and the world’s number one team is all gund blazing but the Ecuadorians have other ideas!!!

  72. Last minute of normal time. This doesn’t look good for the boys in blue and white. Four minutes added time. Will they pull it off?

  73. Zambia and it’s mathematical football,if they beat that team and we win or they draw ——then we advance to the next stage.

  74. Yes!!! In the last minute of stoppish time-Palasias, the last minute substitute rescues a point for Argentina with the last kick of the game. Would you believe it?!! Oh mai oh man-I love this game!!! The Ecudorians are absolutely shattered. They thought they had made history in breaking a 28 years unbeaten home record but not to be!!! Argentina move to second place with ten points. They now have a small matter of meeting Brazil on Wednesday in Rio-their nemesis for years and the team that thrushed them at the last Copa America.

  75. Well, putting things in perspective, we should not cry too much about our draw with the Swazis. Football can be extremely cruel. Bigger names than Zambia have fallen today but at least we got a point. The important thing is for us to take advantage of our chances and win the next two home games.

And by the way, the Ecuador goal came after 10 passes!! Nowhere near the Argentina 27 passes in the last world cup but dear me what a cracker it was from outside the area following on a lay-off from the area!!! The keeper had no chance. Right through beneath the cross bar!!!

  76. Ala bane limo muletala mwalolesha kunuma. I told you from the beginning that we are not got going to win looking at Zambian football history and all of you codemned me. The so called chipolopolo boys are just after money. Now you have started saying if we win both game then we qualify etc. Let them just lose and we forget.

  77. We only need 7 points now, 2 wins at home will give us the remaining 6, Swazi and Togo can attain 12 pts combined, divided by 2 is equal to 6, Swazi na togo na pafita

  78. After so many years we still feel umusungu will get as over the hump. Even our exposed Faz president thinks the same. This chap was a trainer. If he was black he would not be the Zambian coach and this is a fact with the cv he has.

I still do not understand why we change coaches but the same players stay in the team.

Lets face it we do not have quality players!

  79. You pick a chap from a rubish pit and expect him to deliver.I told you that PATRICK PHIRI is far much better than this cheap and desperate chap you brought. The bagger cant even read the game. This guy will not last as ZED coach and his incompetence shall soon be exposed.Too bad ZED

  80. Guys. Like someone said on this forum, use you heads. There 3 teams in this group. Swaziland has played two games at home with 4 points. They still need to travel. Togo has played 1 game at homw(Ghana). Zambia has two games at home. Whats makes you think Swaziland will win in Z and beat Togo?

  81. i guess this weekend has been a weekend of real suprises world wide.Brazil losing, and Argetina too. looks like wizards are at work somewhere.

  82. Guys, trully speaking we should not be too quick to finger poit at the coach. Renard stood through out the match and i was worried that he would be given a Red Card. The boys played well and watch this space they will be betean in Zambia. The only problem that they hard was the artificial turf. it looked like it was there first time playing on such a field and you could see how they were troubled. The fast Chris Katongo was falling to run coz of the Artificial Turf. I watched the game from the first minute to the last minute. Zambia is something to write home about.dont be bitter we are just not used to AT. at first i though they had poured some coal powder in the field hell no….

  83. It is time for the coach to swallow his pride and invite Mbesuma back in the team. The chances that we missed in that game leaves questions, a player like mbesuma even though they say he’s over weight could have buried swaziland in the first half and layed a tombstone in the second half. Without mbesuma in the next game will mean an up hill battle.

  84. from the day renard was appointed i commented here that this was a wrong move and for sure it was wrong there have been no wins from the team ever since he was appointed we are playing 4-4-2 which is a suicidal step to our accustomed 4-3-3. We have been using 4-3-3 since the days of the Gabon94 team this coach’s tactics are too defensive for our attacking tradition if we dont win our next match he must be fired this is just unacceptable, pantufye ati musungu bring back Patrick Phiri and 4-3-3!

  85. zambia will win the remaining 2 games. and we finsh with 7 points and top the group. so don’t worry zambians. jst watch on satday wat we will do to those mswati boys.

  86. History will always repeat itself. You are just wasting your time. These guys are finished. You are now bleming FAZ. was faz playing. These chaps will always find some reason for losing.

  87. I saw a picture of Chris Katongo in white, I am not sure if it is the latest game. I thought we had gone back to national colours-Orange, black and green. The white stripes, what country does it represent? What do you guys think? We must have pride we used to wear green and orange shirts, black shorts, what happened?

  88. Proffesionals shudn`t be missing those point blank opportunities as we have read !!! Kalusha tell Katongo and Chamanga its not the legs that works in futbal alone 60% is your head (BRAIN)!!! Kalu used to score with simple taps not hard shots !! mufwaya ukutula amasumbu bamambala imwe!!! Iam fearing for Konkola !!! If these guys won`t score that stadia will erupt!!! people are upset!!! lets give swazi like 4 goals so that even if they reach 7 points we will be beta on GD. ZED, i am always with you….but do me proud this time !!!!!!!

  89. I am told they were in white, but they should revert to copper and black, i think we should have an identity at some point.

  90. Zam – Swa (4-0), Zam – Togo (1-0), Table

Table as at 10 October, 2008
    p w d l f a pts
    Zambia 4 2 1 1 5 1 7
    Togo 4 2 0 2 2 2 6
    Swazi 4 1 1 2 2 7 4

  91. #176 Who told you the coach can’t read the game? Man you did not even watch the game. How was P.Phiri going to win the game by going in & scoring 2 goals? The boys missed two sure goals one by Chris after Jacob dribbled the keeper who fail down with the goal open,Chris shot went over the bar from 15mtrs.Kola missed a header from 5mtrs after a free kick by F.Katongo from the left. He hit a bouncing header but it took a bounce and went out though the keeper was beaten.Felix won the freekick after he went past two Swazi’s on the left & was fouled.Like #180 says lets no be quick to blame the coach after all ZedS games have been away since the Coach took over.

  92. Anonymous#193, i guess you watched the game. indeed we had thre good chances and pipo who did not watch the game are blaming the coach that is typical of a Zambian person…Remember when Kalusha Bwalya missed a penalty? They all blamed him and said he should hang his boots…he was coach n player is not mistaken…now all eyes are on Renard they want him to play and score two goals.

  93. I feel the Coach is begining to know the players. His first & 2nd games,Libya/Iran the guy had no clue who the players were.Maybe Togo game is what i could call his real game in charge. The coach yesterday was up almost the whole game giving instructions & shouting.Guys Swaziland have never lost at home for a long time & yesterday i saw why.The play well at home & the support is good. The have improved the way the played i am not surprised Togo lost.Their keeper & Dennis Masina were outstanding.Masina gave us problems in the middle especially after S.Sunzu was strecthed out after a bad foul by a Swazi defender. The keeper pulled a one handed serve from a Felix volley in the 21 box.

  94. While i agree that the result wasnt good we must respect the boys. Please i beg those that go for personal attacks to refrain from doing so.Civilised minds shouldnt attack individuals but we can attack ideas, people’s ideas or system for that matter.Even Sata has become civil. So lets attack what didnt work and why perhaps we can offer alternatives. It is interesting to read people’s ideas not personal attacks on our players coaches etc

  95. For Zambia Chris was my Man of the Match he did a good job in the midfield in the absence of Isaac. He gave the Swazis problems with his runs,Felix also had a good game together with C.Kapamba.I would like to mention also that i was impressed with Stophira Sunzu he was having a good game as an anchorman he was cutting alot of the Swazi attacks in the middle. The boy is got a good body like some chaps from the West of Afrca with more exponsure he will go far.Its a pity he got injured.I feel the coach needs to play him pa number 6 and push Isaac to the Right Side of the midfield (#8).One area i can critize the Coach is that i feel he should taken Chamanga early cos he was not having a good game

  96. malabishi yako sibs! count scores not goalsess midfielders. ci kabolala

  97. By the way is Gabriel Namulambe, the minister of soccer? He is always commenting on soccer/FAZ. I quess there is nothing much to do in that ministry.

  98. From BBC news

    Swaziland draw blank with Zambia

Swaziland ground out a 0-0 draw with Zambia in Sunday’s only 2010 World Cup qualifying fixture in Group 11.

The group only contains three teams following Eritrea’s qualifying exit because of financial problems.

The stalemate in Mbabane means Swaziland stay top with four points from two games while Togo are second with three points.

However, with the Chipolopolo bottom on one point all three sides remain in contention to progress from the group.

The Swaziland-Zambia fixture is repeated, this time being played in Zambia, on the 22 June in the group’s next fixture.

    Lets not give up yet!!

  99. Sibs which part of your body is brain hanging? u r the same guys who believe in this: If Swaziland draws with Togo and Too loses to Zambia before Zambia draws with Swaziland which wins Togo? confusing eeh? in short, why not just win with clear goes instead of depending of mathematical chances. Shame. Just disband the whole team!

  100. # 204 how old are you learn to have manners and culture whats wrong with you? what position do u play in the Zambia national team? u sound so empty and they say un empty tin makes the loudest noise stop dissing Sibs # 202. he went to watch the game not to play.

  101. Chips# 206……we played well and we will hammer the boys pa Zed. How many rands do u have? no free things nowadays…uko ku Durbs kuli ndalama big time i am back from Swazi and at work. will hola you later…….

  102. The results Swaziland has pulled off within the past two games hasn`t be a surprise but expected going by their good home record.People will see how badly they perform when they travel and I wouln`t be shocked if they concede more than two goals at Konkola this weekend.People have already forgotten that our once porous defense kept a clean sheet and we can only build from there. My plea to fellow patriots who will have the chance to be at Konkola stadium is to cheer on our lads and intimidate Swaziland.Swaziland has no stamina to withstand an onslaught of pressure away from home.Remember my comments, this weekend museke!

  103. Sibs #202 way to go, some of these people are just unnecessarily obstructive, just forget the ano(animals), for you prof. You might as well just tell us what you think other than asking where one’s brain is hanging. What is your point? Is it disbanding the national team?

  104. Sibs what about the articificial turf we are here ati the boys were not accustomed to the turf?

  105. ino gaga? no wonder i just …………………ya …………kaya……….mwe………….it really hurts, i try to go to ruby nakweve ati our players are too small……………..ninshi kanshi ni chani?

  106. For those who didn`t watch the game but want to have an idea about how Zambia played can check out Times and Daily-mail.

  107. #212 Small or not is not the factor, look at MARADONA he was small but ale chimfwa aba tali, our players ubu chende no bu mplu mushi bwa chila mo fye, ala LESA KABUMBA ALAMONA

  108. ha ha ha ha yes you can watch the game from the Times and Daily mail. Their screen is black and white. ha ha ha mwanisekesako mwe or read the game on ZNBC TV. They will show it today. rumour has it…watch this space.

  109. Bane easy, in soccer there is no garanti ati ba Zed bakalawinafye, takwaba iyo apa we got a point Vs ama bushmen in Chilies ku ba sepa fye chapwa. Bane just how many so called BIG teams lost, bengi sana, so as long as hope is still there bonse ama true soccer fans should be behind our KK eleven, I am 100% convinced ati we shall progress. Coach nao should start looking at most of our local players who do not have Kalu as agent, Chisimba Lungu, Mudenda, Macha, etc should be in the team. Drop Katongo as captain pantu taishiba ichi sung

  110. Coach Mashaba and the entire Swazi Kingdom have vowed not to drop points against Zambia in Konkola / Chililambombwe come June 21st. Swaziland reckon is their best chance in many years to rub shoulders against the big boys should they qualify for the second round and have vowed to teach both Togo and Zambia a few mountain kingdom soccer lessons as they embark to leave Somhlolo their comfort zone and tread into the intimidating konkola stadium in the copperbelt. “we could have won this game but we have ourselves to blame, we will beat them in their backyard – history counts for nothing, we can’t be intimidated, said Dennis “yuki” Masina.

  111. the report of the boys secretly siphoning prosititutes into the hotel now holds water, hence our fall to swaz.

  112. Mbaneni #207 & Mwinga #210 Thanks guys i have no time for losers like Mutengo.Mwinga i am not very sure about the Artificial pitch having an effect. It was just a tough game. This week we playing at home definately we wining by more than two goals & we go top of the group.I see us finishing with 7pts points. If we look at the trend of these qualifiers most teams are doing well or wining at home. The advantage we have is playing two straight games at home.Togo has never beaten or drawn against us at home.Believe me or not guys we beating these chaps (Swazis) at home.

  113. Zebras came into the game fired up after their 2-1 away win in Mozambique and seemed destined to pull off another sensational result. Local supporters packed the National Stadium in large numbers, something that had not been seen when the Zebras were under sacked coach Colwyn Rowe’s tutelage.

The home side felt hard done in the 16th minute when the Ugandan referee ignored their appeal for a penalty after an Ivory Coast defender handled in the box. But the boys were not to be denied. For nine minutes later, the Zebras stunned the visitors when leading marksman Dipsy Selolwane opened the scoring with a spectacular bicycle-kick, which gave Ivory Coast goalkeeper Boubacar Barry no chance.

  114. #218 hei Kasuba I like your views and comments. You are a brilliant man. Would you please give me your contact details. I am a Zambian chick and I wanna date you. Thanks!
    Lusaka

  115. Please let sense prevail!!! Just hoping & thinking lots of “wishful thinking” will result in Zambia topping the table, is like waiting for the day that we will witness “Pink elephants flying!!”. At the moment we should accept that we are totally CRAP at football!! Becoz of our inferiority complex, we have not invested in sending indigenous coaches for advanced courses even when they do show the ability, as Patrick Phiri has done – it is all down to jealousy that we don’t prop up our own people. The millions we invest in paying a salary to an expat is money down the drain, in hope of some distant glory & continued dependence!
Invest in Zambian coaches & promote grassroots soccer, not expats e

  116. contd: …and not expats careers/CV’s which they make along the way. It may take us time, but as with all things, if we have to have success, we can only find it within or amongst ourselves!!!

  117. The buck stops with the coach. We do not expect him to go and score goals . He is responsible for amabundu ,coz a coach is supposed to run drills or teach the strikers how to shoot the ball, and make the boys get better. Thats his job. He is also reponsible in selecting players shooting bundus.
Avram Grant at chelsea did not miss the penalty but they had his ass packing becoz they won no silverware. Man City coach was run out of town.
Thats why we are calling for this ” trainers” head until he proves us otherewise!! His days a numbered just watch if Zambia does not qualify. Just read what Simutowe said about the selection of players in one of the news papers!

    #

  118. Mbuzi #232.If a player can’t control(trap)the ball and he does not completely know how to shoot then he doesn’t deserve to be in the National team. The National team is not where the coach is supposed to teach these things. The coach can only perfect the shooting skills of a player.Thats the problem South Africa are having the expect the coach to teach the players basics. When there is no talent there is nothing even a coach like Jose or Sir Alex Freguson can do.One area Mbuzi i agree with you is that the coach is supposed to run drills and bring in Tactics.
At Under 16, or U18 and at club level thats where the basics are taught.

  119. Zambia will win both matches in Chililabombwe and will top the group come october.

We understand the anger in some of you. It comes from an indepth understanding of the beautiful game of soccer at national level.

It is not easy to win away games at national level becuase there is just to much to bear with in terms of pressure from the hosting nations. It is always a bonus to win away matches.

  120. #237 koswe iwe! I actually praise your comments and now you come out calling us names.

you must be very childish grow up!

  121. Zambia will win both matches in Chililabombwe and will top the group come october.

We understand the anger in some of you. It comes from a lack of an indepth understanding of the beautiful game of soccer at national level.

It is not easy to win away games at national level becuase there is just to much to bear with in terms of pressure from the hosting nations. It is always a bonus to win away matches.

  122. What do you gain from insulting others?

No matter how emotional the dabate becomes do not resort to insults. Insults expose you as lacking the mental capacity to go on even in the mid of adversity.

    Come on lets talk football

  123. I now officially close this debate on Zambia/Swaziland. Go back to work no wonder Zambia is not developed, work like Chinese.

  124. a..a..and who a.. ..a…are you Ernest Sakala to … to… to close this vvvvvery excellent debate.

  125. Would an April 28 every year game between Zambia and Gabon be a bad Idea where people March on Cairo road to the burial site with donation bins to promote awareness to the new generation of Zambians about our fallen heroes and then have the game that afternoon. Might be a good idea I reckon. After the match host the two national teams to a dinner dance and money raised can go to a trust fund to help the Gabon disaster families as well as maintaining the burial site at Independence stadium. Rest in peace all the late players, Coaching and Medical staff, Faz deligation and the ZAF crew. We shall never forget you. God Bless.

  126. Better still we can have a Gabon disaster memorial tournament and the Zambian Government needs to make that day a public holiday for sure with a minute silence observed. We have to show FIFA that we have struggling families as a result of this sad day and the will chip inn and lend a hand. We need to take the first initiative. We need to heal the souls and we will have luck with our national team the mighty Chipolopolo.

  127. Hello Zedians, I agree with Killion I think we have not treated the fallen heroes with enough respect thats why we cant seen to succeed. Good ideas man and ba faz listen and visit these forums.

  128. Killion that is pure superstition, those guys as sad as it is are dead. I think 15 years is enough for us to recover. Had those guys been alive, they would have retired by now anyway. The souls things ur are taking about is utter rubbish, those guys are in hell or heaven, one of the two.

  129. Ba #214
I am sure there`s somebody in that internet cafe who has gone beyond grade seven who can explain to you the meaning or interpretation of my posting in #213.Otherwise,spare your stepends for kapamela unlike exposing your primitive and intellectual challenges.I wish LT could be posing an elementary test question before someone has access to post their comments.

  130. Chapi #250 Some Chaps are not even worth responding to.It’s a waste of time Mudala. All those with good minds know what you meant.

  131. Zambias own doing was making it to the Tunis 1994 AFCON finals vs Nigeria. Had we failed to go past the first stage alot of great footballing countries would have rendered there help beyond belief. We always lie to ourselves that we are a great football nation no way we need to rebuild and we had the chance to do that in 1994 but we lied and thought we had so much reserves to turn to. This is the result. I just cant imagine qualifying for the world cup and being in a group with say Argentina, Spain, Zambia, and Croatia. Take a minute guys and imagine the humiliation?????????? if Cameroon hammered us so bad imagine these teams. Lets not lie to ourselves we have a long long way to go.

  132. KALU SHOULD HAVE REMAINED COACH BUT ZAMBIANS ARE VERY CRAZY PEOPLE YOU WANT THE BEST COACHES BUT JUST LIKE A STUDENT A TEACHER CANT MAKE YOU INTELLIGENT, HE OR SHE CAN ONLY SEE THE POTENTIAL AND GROOM YOU FOR THE BETTER. WHO GAVE US THIS COACH HEVRE? WE HAVE PLAYERS THAT CANT EVEN READ OR WRITE AND YOU EXPECT THEM TO BE INTELIGENT ON THE PITCH NO WAY. I THINK THE ONLY INTELIGENT PLAYER WE HAVE EVER PRODUCED IS KALU AND DABWITSO NKHOMA.

  133. WE HAVE STARTED TO BEHAVE LIKE MADRID AND AC MILAN WHERE EACH YEAR WE HAVE A NEW COACH. IF THIS GUY FAILS TO TAKE US TO THE AFCON OR WORLD CUP HE WILL BE HISTORY WHY. OK MAKE KK THE NATIONAL TEAM COACH THEN FOR F@#$%CK SAKE.

  134. #243 but you have spoken well keep it up.why should people insult?????????? Bane let us respect each other. We are going to win win win win win win………………………….If not we stil remain zambians whether abroad or at home.Lets go mother Zambia #247 good point

  135. I would like to play for Zambia and score goals for them. I am from Congo but I have relatives in Zed. How about that

  136. bane chapwa nomba he! I think in the history of LT this has been the most responded to article. Awe chapwa nomba, LT change the subject, remain on soccer but we can start another line. News at 13 hours, coach has brought in 6 more players, i did not get their names but I think Kalaba is one of them.

  137. This is crazy, is this Renard panicking? Or is it FAZ. They have called up some players from soccer obscurity at this CRUCIAL STAGE. Among those called include a nonetity called Vias Mwendalubi from Kabwe Warriors, Fwayo Tembo who has hardly kicked a ball at Etoile du Sahel, recalled Francis Kasonde, Mike Poto and Kalaba and Isaac Chansa. There you go looks like were are building a team instead of cementing our side for a chance at qualification. Well, we shall wait and see…

  138. There is no place for Kennedy Mudenda the boy who tore Swaziland and Botswana to shreds in the CHAN. No William Njobvu a boy on top of his game in midfield in the Zambian League. Even guys like Ian Bakala would have done. Like Mbesuma was assesed we could have assesed Steven Kunda in Finland, an excellent defender who has just had a fabulous season there Nchimunya Mweetwa is another good striker though injured in Finland and he is the guy who has confirmed Kunda is having a season of a lifetime in Europe albeit in a weak Finnish League but surely the Former Power Dynamos and Under 23 Captain deserves a chance , Moses Sichone and possibly Andrew Sinkala and Elijah Tana as well. HELLO FAZ?

  139. To 186 & 188, They kit you are wearing doesn’t play the game, besides Zambia has always been unlucky when they play in green kits. The best games they have played have always been in White. Green is the home kit by the way and White is the away kit. To me it dosen’t matter even if they were to play naked.

  140. Flying Dutchman, we need national colours as a sense of pride, most teams wear national colours, it does not make a team win but it is a source of national pride. What are talking about being unlucky, when we won the Cosafa Cup, zed was wearing copper (orange) and black shorts. Stop this white bussiness, no wonder the boys do not know which country they are playing for

  141. #263 AGREED. A sense of identity. Customised stripe for Chipolopolo with eagle and national colours.. Copper and Black does it. Not the mickey mouse we have been treated to.

  142. #263/264 thank you for coming to my aid, I thought I was losing it. Anyhow 262, remember the mexican wave and what it was intended to do? To confuse the opponents, how nice would it be if all the supporters okey 50% of the football crazy copperbelt was in copper and then they did the mexico wave, how Swaziland would be confused, much as jerseys do not play football but I thin knowing that you are going to watch brazil and even without being able to read you can tell that they are in yellow/blue, you are watching argentina, you will know they are blue/white stripes, how does that make one feel?

  143. Was the artificial Turf at fault for the draw?No I dont think so.
I just went to a community park here in Redmond and while testing out the synthetic artificial turf,I was like this should be no problem for Zambia because Swaziland will be on the same pitch as well.
I grew up in Chilenje south and our play ground is that bare Mr Roberts Ground.
Every player who has taken part in a Christmas tourney will confess that the next best thing to natural grass in the artificial synthetic turf.We need those in all communities.

  144. Ye lets change subject:

2011 Africa Games: Minister confirms “Shooting” has been dropped from the Zambian round of the games, becoz they feel people will abuse the opportunity to bring in Arms.

Please please ministers lekani ukutu sebanya!! Sport arms are small calibre firearms, most powered by pressurized air. We are not talking bringing in AK 47’s – the ignorance of our ministers & govt is so mind boggling & beyond embarassment!!!

  145. The sports minister is full of nonsense, he must just say Zambia has no shooting facilities for this sport, like bauze said this is an indoor sport, with a sho0ting range and players cover their ears from noise, the guns are small one, air gun not AKs and gogodela. Nalubambe is dull. What is his background, please tell me.

  146. #258, You are welcome! France have Makelele who was Congolese just a few years ago. Zambia never realised that the glory still goes to Zambia by granting citizen rights to players like you. Rwanda is doing well because they have taken all disgruntled guys who could not be featured by Congo and are being paid handsomely well. Do not underrate Rwanda now. Playing Rwanda now is playing “Congo!” Zambia, for years failed to utilize Zambians who where born or it was rumored their parents came from outside. We cannot afford to do this now. Remember Tshikala Mwanza? I wish we could have used such guys! He was like Yekeni.

  147. Renard is a coach with no experience what we need is some srikers with goal prowess Katongo has the heart of a lion but unfortunately his skills are not as remarkable we should pay for Mbesuma’s knee surgery so our golden boy can play and score for us. mean time good luck to Kola and Mayuka, jacob mulenga li kula!

  148. #270 Mwaiche problem ku mwesu is tantumfwa kulibambi iyo, and that is a big problem pantu like ba Willie Phiri has put it, we need soccer stars of the past på internet, pali ba FAZ pa ba fye Zoom na Kalusha, as ama legende what about ba Gode, Willie Phiri, Simutowe, Alex Chola, Tolomeo Mwansa, Philip Sabu, Jan Simulambo, John Kaunda, Ba Vin, Michael Musonda, Emmy Musonda, Dickson Makwaza, Dick Chama, Richard Stevenson, Gibby Zulu, Ghost Mulenga, Charles Musonda, Derby Makinka and many more takwaba fye nga bena Joesph Mapulanga, John Mapulanga, Jack Chanda, little Joe, Bizwell Phiri, Jimmy Mwale, Peter Tembo, bane I think wali tipwa mwe

  149. Anonymous 272, you left out Moses Simwala, Brighton Sinyangwe, Jericho Shinde, Bernard Chanda, Stone Chibwe, (and did you mean John Kalusa?), Kapambwe Mulenga, Dominic Mutale, Lucky Msiska, Emment Kapengwe, Bernard “Tools and Hardware” Mutale, Emmanuel Mwape, Johnstone Katowando, The Nkole Brothers, Ackim Musenge, Ashios Melu,Pele Kaimana, Obby Kapita, Kapela Katumba, Francis Kajiya, Milton Muke, Jones Chilengi, Edwin Mbaso, to mention a few.

  150. #274 where is JJ James Jengela the best player not to have played for Zambia! Many more Obby kapita, Jani smulambo, Kaiser kalambo, Mark Masumbuko, Johnstone Katwando etc. Awe bola yali pwa! Good to see you are still on the blog. Rohkana forever!

  151. I think Chipolopolo boys nee to do a little bit of work if they are to qualify for the next round.

  152. Excuses, excuses, excuses…. Ba Zambia….. Y’all just don’t want to accept that Kalusha cannot take us anywhere. Namufumya ama calculator?

  153. hm… sorry to be a lttle bit dull however i believe your site could look slightly better and a bit more easy to the eyes if it had a bit more of a orange vibe to it, but that’s only me. wonderful post anyway! =) Best regards!
