Zambia Get a Feel of Konkola

Share

Zambia entered day 2 of training camp on the Copperbelt with two back-to-back wins in training games today in Chililabombwe and Kitwe.

In the morning, coach Herve Renard got his first view of Konkola Stadium where his men will face Swaziland in their 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifier this Saturday.

Zambia played Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe where they beat their hosts 3-0 in a training match at the same venue.

Midfielder Clifford Mulenga of Bidvest Wits of South Africa scored a brace while striker and Captain Christopher Katongo from Brondby in Denmark got the other goal for Zambia.

Zambia later traveled back to Kitwe in the afternoon where they played one more training game against Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium and won by the same margin.

New call-up Owen Mwendabai of Avenir de La Marsa in Tunisia opened scores for Zambia before Zanaco striker Roger Kola made it 2-0.

Kabwe Warriors attacker Emmanuel Mayuka got Zambia’s third towards the end of the match.

Meanwhile, Renard is set to name his final 18-member team on Friday on the eve of Saturdays 14:00hrs kickoff against Swaziland at Konkola.
And new call-up Fwayo Tembo has yet to report to camp 48 hours after Renard drafted the former Zambia Under-20 midfielder who plays for Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.

Renard has yet to make a decision over the player.

However the other five call-ups who include Mwendabai all reported for training camp in Kitwe on Tuesday.

They include Isaac Chansa of Helsingborg in Sweden who returns after serving a one-match suspension.

Power Dynamos defender Francis Kasonde also returns after recovering from injury.

Zesco United midfielder Rainford Kalaba is also in camp all while Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Mike Poto arrived late Wednesday afternoon.

  1. Good that players are reporting to camp in time. All we need is chansa back in midfield and chris upfront then the 3 goals and points are ours.

  2. Nice that goals are coming in training. Good sìgn. I sense it will rain Zed goals on Sat. Go Chipolopolo Go . Tilipa mbuyo panu bane. Kamuya basankwa!

  3. No.3 u are right. We need chansa,kalaba/cliford and felix in the mid.upfront we need chriss, jacob, chamanga. Then mayuka, kola and owen let them wait.surely we will c goals. I watched the delayed game. Swazi are not yet at our level. We dru bcoz of the mid

  4. After watching my recorded last year’s Zambia’s 3-1 victory away to South Africa, I just hope Chansa will be in form because he holds the key in the middle of the park.

  5. I watched the Swazi/Zambia game last night (delayed) I quite liked what I saw, Renard did not deploy his men properly, the wings were not serviced, with the return of Kalaba, one hopes that he will man the right wing and clifford the left wind, with Chris in 10, Mayuka/Jacob 9 that should seal the fate of the whatever team. The line up I would prefer is

    1. Kennedy
    2. William Chinyama
    3. Joseph Musonda (good overlaps he made)
    4. Billy Mwanza
    5. Chintu Kampamba
    6. Isaac Chansa
    7. Rainford Kalaba
    8. Felix Katongo
    9. Mayuka/Jacob
    10. Christopher Katos
    11. Clifford Mulenga

The strikers were not serviced because of a drought of crosses from the flanks. And the issue of high/long..

  6. I wish the Chipolopolo all the best. I have the confidence they will carry the day. However, lets not underrate the Swazis. They are also coming for a win. Please, advise how those outside the Country will monitor the goals that will rain on that day.

  7. … balls I think is not cut out forus,one-twos are more like it. Jacob is good for one-twos and if you remember during the AFCON the first goal agaist Sudan was as a result of a Jacob-James combination, but James awe, for now he shouldn’t start, that is my opinion.

  8. #10, assuming MTN does not let me down this time with my GPRS, I will be on the blog letting you know what is going on, atleast in 5 minute periods. I am expecting the three sure chances they missed to be converted into goals on Saturday so 4-0 is not a bad result, forget the swazis Mars, they are gone and I am willing to stick my neck out on this statement.

  9. #6 you are right Swaziland are not yet at our level, we drew because of the midfield and wings, we did not have wingers, Cliff was wrongly placed between 6 and 8, I did not like that, if you remember all the crosses from the left came from Joseph Musonda who was overlapping. But that Yuki from Swaziland should be managed, he is quite a workhorse.

  10. Mwinga #12 Way to go Please keep us updated on Saturday.Fifa.com is a bit slow in getting up dates/stats out.Mwinga after watching the game last night i am sure you saw the goals we missed. On Chamanga let him come in as a substitute.

  11. Guys this is our last chance and if we mess it up at Kokola Stadium then we are out. By the way why do we ONLY score during training matches and not scores for the important games when it matters most?

  12. Sibs, I like what I saw yesterday, the second half was about what it should be. Once we sort out the flanks and the midfield to service the fronthline, we can wire any team. Ya those goals, you know Katongo’s was a sure goal, Kola that header, my God, anyway I will do everything in my means to update you guys.

  13. #16, Henry Ford once said, most rich men dream during the day when they are awake, that is why they are rich, I hope you see the value of dreaming during the day, dreaming in the night is fantasy. Got the cue?

  14. #20 I thought people make money out of blogging! Todd from CNN runs a blog as a fulltime job.

  15. Mwiinga we will depend on you hope you wont forget your 3G card. I told you to write the sms in advance Z 1, Z 2, Z 3, and send them immediately.Good that you watched the game The boys played well and they will shine on our pitch. Natural grass not Atrificial Turf. Good lak Zambia.
#Sibs did you go to Swazi with the ZASA group?

  16. You know I am a very good player and there are few individuals in the Swazi national team who are also world class athletes but the thing is we belong to a very obscure country that have been in the football wilderness for a long time. This time around I want to showcase my skills at the afcon in 2010 so that I can make my country proud and retire a happy man. We are not scared of Chipolopolo in fact we are highly motivated bcos a win in Konkola will improve our FiFa rankings. I have promised all the Swazis 3 goals from myself and 2 assists to Siza Dlamini making it 5 goals to nil in favour of Isihlangu

  17. #26 ha ha ha ha ha ha, right on my bro! I find LT irresistable especially with you guys around, not abansele aba bambi (I hope you understand bemba)

  18. #25 YOU ARE A JOKER ALL YOU THINK WILL PROVE TO BE NOTHING ON SATUDAY. BILL & MUSONDA WILL SURPRISE YOU AND WHEN YOU ARE STILL IN SHOKE CHRIS & JACOB WILL COME OUT EACH WITH ATLEAST 2 GOALS

  19. I have been reading for the past three days with keen interest particularly with what Mwiinga(Lusaka,Zambia) has to say. I must say you are one of the respectable persons on this blog and I commend you for that. For some of us(joke:abena someofus) LT is a source of instant knowledge on almost every issue that becomes headline news in Zambia. Recently we were educated by bloggers on the issue of dual citizenship. Coming now to the game this weekend, i personally expect a positive result for Zambia. And i seriously hope all things will be in our favour.

  20. Please Mwinga stop blogging….and start work
    Ba stupit 0 Chipolopolo 3

We have have de last laugh Viva Chipololo

  21. #42 I am on leave, I am blogging from home, am I disturbing you and are you the same one in #26? Takalumi ncobeni, ina inga kamazakala nguni unga wakayowa ha ha ha (for #40 only). #41 thanks for your kind words, and the feeling is mutual.

  22. Yea that’s how I have turned most of u guys into fools. I work in a far eastern country overseas and when Iam at work u guys are asleep and when u get up and go to work or school I keep u busy until your bosses at work complain and I do it at home cos iam at home when all of you guys are at work and Iam at work when all of u gus are asleep. Work hard and dont blogg while at work….be productive Zambia needs u to deliver to expectations….

  23. akaka no bantu i wish the chipolopolo great success on saturday, we can’t stand the embarressmnet of failing to wire the isihlangu. To speak in their language; ngo musumbuluko sizababulala ama swazi!! ( meaning on sat we will slaughter the swazis) im on the copperbelt does any one know where i can get tickets advise!!!

  24. Sibs ok then we where on the same bus. viva zambia. I have free ticket courtesy of zambian airways from Jozi to Ndola.

  25. I am yet to see how but, my boys can make it. I predict a Zambia dominated game. i hope Cris will be ice cool on the finish. A well placed strike on target is always better than a thunderbolt off target or straight into the hands of the keeper.
Zambia only needs to get into the tradition of creating chances and scoring. It Seems the defence is almost tops. Midfield is best in africa, clifford, Chansa, Felix,Renford. these guys should also watch the holland games for motivation.
    I say 2-0 or 2-1.
BA ZAMBIA NALELO BAWINA CHIPOLOPOLO !

  26. I have just got three Grandstand tickets from ChangaChanga (Personal Officer). Zed guys see you in Chiliz. Swaziland wafwa walemana!

  27. Mr Mwiinga Bakamba reduce on your blogging. allow your kids to also use the computer.you can spend that time by watering the garden or doing other things such as catching up on sleep. you seem to be all over this site

  28. I cant wait for the game on saturday. I’l be in the stadium personally to cheer on the team. Am sharpening my vocal chords so that i can sing “chipolopolo iye” throughout the 90min and after the game.

  29. Isihlangu, should mean shield, I stand to be corrected but I think that what is means, you know, shield used by Zulus, Swazis ngonis. By the way Ngonis on this forum support Swaziland after all they are you cousins.

  30. #Mwiinga (Lusaka, Zambia) I am proud that I have a countryman like you, please keep us updated, some of us wont really have the chance to watch the game Live but we will be you guyz and the rest of the country in supporting our boyz.If we dont do it then we should concentrate on under 20.Go Zambia go.Baa Mwiinga am counting on you.update us every ten minutes(ater every 375 ml of Amstel)

  31. 4-1 Zambia nuff said, Inee Kamozi and the Chipolopolo are back…..since theres a Zim ref, perhaps they are beck!
    Lets go boys!
    good training camp so far….

  32. Group 11

“This group has just three teams in it, and so there is only the one match this weekend.

It gives Zambia the chance to gain revenge for their 0-0 draw against Swaziland last time out, when the Swazis visit the Konkola stadium.

Zambia are bottom of the table, with just one point from two games, whilst Swaziland lead with a win and a draw.

Togo are the team to sit out this round of games.”
    BBC

  33. Renard plz u must put the players in the right position. Not mixing as if nici mpombwa. If We lose go with swaziland.

  34. Good luck zedians. #57 sihlangu means shield. We should pearce several holes in those shields with the copper bullets. Lets keep the history of getting 3 or more goals evry time we play then in Zed. They’ve never conceeded less than 3 goals in zed.

  35. #69 Yea in Cosafa and CHAN games u have always had an upper hand against us but Swaziland has never lost a COMBINED AFCON AND WORLD CUP QUALIFIER TO ZAMBIA. In Swaziland Cosafa is not that important and so is the newly introduced CHAN. Therefore the squad that faced u in CHAN was kinda depleted but now we are coming to Konkola in full strength for a Dog eat Dog cos we want to silence all the bloggeres in here. ur tails are going to be tucked somewhere after the game otherwise shut up all of you. You annoy me I just can’t wait for the game so that u can start concentrating on ur studies and stop making stupid noise here

  36. I know in football anything can happen, but their are games like this one that you just have to win. Zambia have an advantage of playing at home, I know it won’t be easy, but some cautiousness we shall, the only thing we should be careful about is leting Swaziland score first. My poit is while we are attack we should not open up in defence for Swazi will surely live on counter attacks. Remember the games Vs Chad and Senegal (especially the Chad game) Good luck

  38. renard is rumoured to have over the past few weeks been working on zambia’s defensive play. the thing about us zambians is that we just love winning at all costs. that is until we are hammered 4-1 by big teams. please the coach knows what he is doing!

  39. What a mistake again by fat boy manager? Fat boy SHUD find a club where he’ll hve less compdtition and play regulary e.g in SA,portugal, france.

  40. 4.3.3 with Felix K..Chansa I.Kalaba R.in the middle of the park…With Chris K.Chamanga J…Mulenga J upfront what can stop us from wining any game

we get three goals and then switch back to any formation that u want and the game is set…

Thats how good teams play their soccer…i.e Holland…See how many teams they have destroyed with swtichin from 4.3.3 to 4.5.1 or 4.4.2 when they are up in the lead…

    Learn Zambia Learn

I keep Askin where is Bakala..Sebastian Mwansa…sinkala..and we keep complainin that we have a weak midfeild

On a lighter note and bring Mbesuma back and make him a Midfeilder..and get him some glasses like Edgar Davids so we can get the rare crucial goals from him

  41. #83 true, I was watching Brazil/Argentina last night and the two teams ended up with a draw because they play similar soccer, Very highly technical soccer, then I watched germany/portugal my God, those germans are something, they use the flanks so much and they have superior aerial power come any team exceot Croatia has studied them in 1996 they lost 3rd/4th place, this euro they lost in the group stages, I can’t wait for the semis. Abour Edgar Davids oh Mbesuma (LOL)

  42. Is Mbesuma still a factor in this matter? Why not leave him alone and concentrate on the players in the team who even when they fail to score in two successive games no one says they are unfit.Good luck all the same.

  43. 85 please learn some manners, not everyone on this site was raised poorly like you, so use proper language.

  44. Ba Zambia, you can also listen to live commentary on zambianfootball dot co dot cc start time 2pm. The site is on Zambianfootball dot blogspot dot com.
    Good lak bullets.

  45. haha i have to sort out the swine that keeps pretending that he is

mbesuma or his cousin now…!! on this blog…!!

kamwipaya swine…and P.I.G ROAST him na apple mukanwa like how

    our western friends do it..

  46. Black feet #90. Why are you behaving like a dog that has just given birth? Ni cousin wakwe umwine mulekefye.

  47. #92 achilayangala fye, taumwene aseka nokuseka first, ah ah black feet limbi wachiba serious!

  48. Mbesuma is no longer a factor in football, had he listened to Ted (former manager at Kaizer) he would be in Wenger’s books by now, but he chose to listen to his national manager then, another failure, baKalusha…..the rest as they say is history. Forget him bloggers, wish Zambia lucky for this weekend’s game.

  49. #70 you don’t know anything about the history between Zambia nad Swazi football. If you are indeed Denis Masina, then you are just a boy in terms of football, go to Charles Masango, Tototo Khoza, Dance-dance Matse, Victor Gamedze and their like to be educated on the historic games the two teams have had in the last twenty years. Cosafa is new and it was never there in the 1980s and 90s. All games I’m talking about are world cup and Africa cup qualifiers. It is a fact that Sihlangu has never conceeded less than 3 goals in Zambia and Zambia has not won in Swaziland in a long time. I’ve followed swazi futbo for many years. I can even educate u on it.

  50. Anonymous Easy Mwaiche easy..bola panshi…??

ka sense of Humour kalikwisa didnt you see the haha at the start…

too serious ba mambala thats u get too pissed off when Zed loses not that i dont but easy mwaiche easy even imbwa nga ya fyala its excited manje imwe ma serious…:))

  52. #99 Chakolwa, i think na u kolwa kale. I didn’t know ba chakolwa can play football, maybe inter-comboni. Chakolwa just go and finish your beers if you have nothing to blog boy.

  55. Its nice and nostalgic though you left out Robert Watyakeni. We will get there in due course. At the time of their death we had more than eight in Safrican league. After their death we had about 3 notable ones now once again we have at least 8 in Safrican league. This is a sign that we are improving day by day.Remember we only had about 3 or 4 in Europe and once again we are improving on these numbers.Lets continue supporting our team, its all we got

  56. william chinyama and h. himoonde dropped? i hope renard is not one of those french men who are addicted to gambling, rather than rational thinking mwa ziba te?

  57. football aside, the holy spirit settled in zambia in februARY this year if you doubt you willbe cast out. tomorrow we will win

  58. The Turks have just shown us how one should play for one’s country. Never say never. Their last minute equalizer against Croatia was a cocker. Zambian players can learn a thing or two.

  59. Here’s de team:
Goalkeeper: Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars,), Kalililo Kakonje (Amazulu,)
Defenders: Kampamba Chintu (Free State Stars, South Africa), Nyambe Mulenga (Zesco), Billy Mwanza, Joseph Musonda (Both Golden Arrows, South Africa)
Midfielders: Isaac Chansa (Helsingborg, Sweden), Rainford Kalaba (Zesco), Moses Felix Katongo ( Rennes, France), Francis Kasonde (Power Dynamos), Stophira Sunzu (Zanaco), Clifford Mulenga (Wits, South Africa)

  60. #103 Can you please mention which players where in th SA league at the time of the Gabon Disaster. As far as I know non of the players on that team played in SA. I could be wrong please correct me so that I don’t carry on with my ingnorance !!

  61. #99 and 100 Great sense of humour! We need you people on the site. Some characters are to serious on the site like Ba Ka batasha!!

  62. What has been done to this chi-ground so far since,we last played there? Lets be doing atleast something to make it better, you know it is embarrasing for teams like Algeria to be complaining over it.

  63. Herve, plse use that team which played Egypt. Those where serious and seems to be hungry to play.
    1. Mweene 2. Musonda 3.Mboela 4. Kasonde 5. D Banda 6. Chansa 7.Katongo F. 8.Kalaba 9. Mulenga 10. capt Katongo 11 Cliford.

Ba cliford should be warned of his selfish and wastful way of playing. Mbesuma to be left out.
