Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Katanga Province Governor Moses Katumbi has hailed the cordial relationship currently existing between Zambia and the DRC.
Mr. Katumbi said there was need for cooperation between the two neighboring countries to enhance economic and social development for the mutual benefit of both countries.
He was speaking during the opening of Finance Bank Kasumbalesa Branch in Chililabombwe yesterday.
Mr. Katumbi urged Finance Bank to extend its operations beyond Zambia and open a branch in that country to boost economic development.
He said the DRC’s economy was experiencing tremendous growth hence the need for strong banks such as Finance Bank to extend their operations into that country.
Mr. Katumbi said Katanga Province had recorded increased exports which could further increase if communities access competitive banking services from reputable organizations like Finance Bank.
And Finance Bank Board Chairman Raja Mahtani said the opening of Finance Bank Kasumbalesa Branch was pivotal in facilitating and formalizing trade between Zambia and the DRC.
He said his bank had a strong reputation of strategic bank positioning especially in border towns hence the opening of a branch at Kasumbalesa border post.
Finance Bank has branches in border areas that include Chirundu, Katete, Mwinilunga, Mpulungu, Chipata, Livingstone and now Kasumbalesa.

I regret to say zambians normally just get used by graft technicians like Katumbi.It is all good talking about economic links with Katanga but that is in an ideal situation which doesnt exist.Remember how Katumbi dribled the whole former head of state.I cant understand why you think this time he will act in the gvernment’s favour.Lets do without him and i know we can.We have always done without such graft leaders

lets not generalise all indians to be bad….. l;ike in every society you get some people who tend to be on the rong side of the law and these people need to be brought to book. there are alot of indians in zambia who have done very well throught hard work. one needs to look at Trade Kings and there succeses its quite remarkable in that only 15 yrs ago its was not in existance. one good thing about the indians generally in zambia is that alot of the money they make in zambia is spent and re-invested in zambia with little being externalised. alot of them have no ties back in india and regard themsleves as zambia. unlike the chinense in my very who are just in zambia to exploit

Katumbi is a free man ,till proven guilty by the courts of law. All we need in zambia is a good constitution which will be the supreme law of the land. And by being a supreme law of the land, every zambian or foreigner living in zambia will pay allegience to the constitution and not the president,as is the case now. A system must check another system not the kind of chicken cramp going on. This is why developmental growth is slow. What do others think?
