Young Arrows Maintain KCM Premier leadership

Share

Young Red Arrows closed the first half of the 2008 FAZ/KCM Premier league on the top with 27 points ahead of Green Buffaloes who equally beat Nkwazi by a lone goal.

Young Arrows scored the first goal through midfielder Chandwe Ngandwe in the 60th minute with a sizzling shot.

A vengeful Nkana tried to equalize eight minutes later with a goal engineered by former international Gift Kampamba who beat the Arrows goalie but the goal was disallowed.

The disallowed goal halted the game for five minutes as Nkana supporters at gate D wing were irritated by referee’s decision.

However when the match resumed Arrows’ marksman George Mkandawaire silenced former National coach Patrick Phiri’s tutored side with a clincher five minutes before full time.

Today’s win means that Young Arrows still enjoy the lead on KCM Premier league week 15 bettering Green Buffaloes on goal difference despite the latter’s win at Woodlands stadium.

The KCM/FAZ league has gone on a two week break to allow teams to rest and to find a winning formula later.

In other match played Saturday, Lusaka Dynamoes were held nil all by Green Eagles at Queensmaid Staduim.

  5. Forget about Nkana. ‘Ubuilimi bwa kale tebutalalika mwana’ ie Past glory is no match for the present.

  6. The league is so weak even Brazil women can beat some of the teams in Zambia. I love those women alot. Viva brazil, can Zambia national team play brazil women in a friendly game? Faz organize this match.

  7. guys concerned with this blog, plz provide league tables for us guys out here so that we are part of what is going on soccer wise back home.otherwise thanx a million times fo the good job yu are doing so far,go go zed soccer.

  8. The league might turn up to be a two horse race between young arrows and GBFC. Buffalo to take it after 30 games. Kalampa has gone down maybe if phiri can do something during the break.

  9. Off topic people.
Please help. What has happened to live radio streams on Coopernet? What has one got to do listen live now?

  10. March for U20 is today, i will send the score at the end of the game, not to worry, but ni ba Muaritius elo at home. Just thinking inga ba Red Arrows bali kwisa for the young ones to be leading the table, ain’t they both sponsered by ZAF.

  11. bane, the fact that mid way between the season and no team has reached 30 points does not mean the league is weak, it means most teams are working hard and so no team has had an easy run.thats how i would intepret things.because if a team had ammssed 39 points by now,it would mean there would be some weeping boys in the group who would have had less tha 10 points.Just like in spain, you find the top teams differing by very few margins implying that the competition is stiff. so league iliche. Go Young Arrows GO!!

  12. Congratulations BRAVO NCHANGA RANGERS for recording consecutive wins.
For those that have been pushing for Patrick Phiri returns to coach the national team, check out how poorly he`s doing at Nkana.

  13. #18,yu are corrent, but we need to see guys that bash in goals, check what is happening at national level,it is a reflection of our league, however ni gogo zed.

  14. Zambia 1 Mauritius 0; I am told they struggled to beat Mauritius but what matters is we did not concede a goal, I did not hear the commentaries or anything.

  15. # 20 thanx for your analysis.indeed, we need serious strikers nakalimo Goal getters, not sure how the top scorers chart is like but the number of goals scored could act as another parameter for measuring the strength of the league. Endita,Ni go go Zambia.

  16. This is always a concern. Mayuka & Kola are still eligible for the team. We should always play our strongest teams to ensure qualification. It’s only at these big tournaments that more of our players will be noticed. But we have to qualify.

  17. #18. I agree with you. I also don’t understand Simmata’s logic. If there is no run away team common sense will tell that the playing feild is even.Thats my interpretaion.
Simmata thinks he is th man!I am glad he was not elected.

  18. #19. Phiri will not have the same players at national team level as he has at Nkana. Name one player in the National team playing for Nkana. The chances of succeeding are much higher as it is the cream of Zed soccer.
As good as a coach can be you need to have good material. Even Sir Firguson at Man Utd would fail with the players at Nkana!

  19. Sometimes this coach should also have a keen eye for identifying the raw material, I have in mind Arsene Wenger who makes players, look at the current arsenal team, where was Sagna on the international scene before Arsene identified him? So the coach has his part. He should not restrict himself to the premier league, what if the players in the premire league are not the best which is true in most cases.

  20. Ba FAZ,you are not serious, firstly you waste money employing some guys who can’t deliver then you have fellows who can’t run the Association maturely and are only interested in what they can get out of it.Please don’t be like Mugabe. We need committed people.

  21. chapi, do you have any idea how long Patrick Phiri has been in charge ku Nkana?the team was already in freefall before he took over..
ba Phiri bakabwele fye ku national team, coz apart from the defence, the fotbal we played ku AFCON was decent.

  22. naine i was surprised ati ba Gift eko baba. mwe bakwata chance yakutamba league,is the guy still good olo balipwa?
