Updates on Levy Should not be Doubted-Rupiah Banda

Share

The current medical updates on President Mwanawasa’s health are correct and should not be doubted.

The Vice President said Dr. Mwanawasa is making slow progress to recovery.

Rupiah Banda said the president’s condition has not worsened from the time he was admitted to Percy Military Hospital in, Paris – France.

He assured the nation that the updates being given are a true reflection of the progress made so far.

Mr. Banda said government has reported everything the nation wants to know about the President’s health and will continue giving reports to the nation.

He said this before leaving for Livingstone.

The President was admitted to hospital after suffering a stroke while attending the African Union summit in Egypt.

  1. RB Are those updates coming from the Doctors or from the Presidents family? So far no one from Govt has been to Paris to see the President!! Why all the secrecy thats why people are doubting though we wish our President gets well.

  2. Iwe chi Roops, stop being silly, chimutu monga you’re one of the puppets on the muppet show! give us proper data, what do you mean slow progress? How soon do we expect to see Levy back 4rm Percy Military Hospital? Give us proper INFO! ba mambala imwe

  3. Of course we knew it was going to be a very slow progress that is why we want to know the way forward Mr VP.

  4. Of course we knew it was going to be a very slow progress that is why we want to know the way forward Mr VP .

  5. Just give info the way people have requested and you will not have problems explaining. Question is” how serious is the President’s illness?” Is he talking? Is he Councious? Just what state is he in? Can’t a parliamentary delegation not go and see him? Sure since he fell ill, no-one has gone to see him. Where is the minister of health? Let him tell the nation the position. Let Chituwo respond to Dr. Manda’s acticle in the post. God bless and good luck VP RB.

  6. Look Mr Vice Prez, the nature of the sickness the pressident has is a very serious one. A strok or 2 stroks on a person isnot like having a simple headache. Please consult experts and they will tell you that even if he recovered, he is likely drop out as president. That is the reason you must be more open and even prepare for such?????

  7. Mr. V.P thanks for your efforts but i dont htink ist your duty to go on ” infroming us over the presidents status. At this point, one wounders were the minister of health is?he should be in the for front in telling us the truth based onmedical grounds. Thanks to Dr Manda’s questions, such is what we desried to hear from the medical people.
secondly if you check on the net on diff sites, how come they are emphasising that lpm died on 3rd july, his life history is well outlined unitl the day he mat his death.

    DONT CHEAT THE WORLD PLZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. According to me, it seems no one really knows the truth aabout the presdo.

let us just wait, and time will tell. but let us be vigilant as we wait, we should be reay for anything, a replacement is not a bad idea.

Remember he is not only a presdo, he is a man and a father. Rememebr guys money or posiion wont buy your life.

  9. Ba VP “MWALELISHI” continue watering your garden that is what we call predending. So you were protecting your own interest,a father who eats befor his children wait and see the resurrection.

  10. Ba VP “MWALELILESHI” continue watering your garden that is what we call predending. So you were protecting your own interest,a father who eats befor his children wait and see the resurrection.

  11. #1 from earlier reports,Minister of Health & Foreign affairs visited Paris for an specified purposes one wonders why updates in the case of our beloved President are not coming from his Doctors like in the case of Sharon(Israel) just to remove all this plastic copy & paste updates we’ve been getting.

  12. What is wrong for at least a minister or PS of health to go and get firt hand information. Please can someone verify the extent of our beloved presdo.RB please, can’t the minister of health give us the updates

  13. Can our legal minds please help us explain the constitutional provisions with regards to how long the vice president can act? or may be how long can the President remain sick before he’s declared incapable of continuing as President?.

  14. He’s behaving like Lupando ‘katoloshi” Mwape who was claiming that the president is jogging in London when the man was critically ill.
RB leka booza,it will catch up with you

  15. Ok, Mr Vice President. We understand, but more details will ease the dis-ease among the Zambian nationals over the updates.

May the President have a full recuperation and quick return to oversee the affairs to the country so that we can continue moving forward – in tune with the nation.

May God bless all Zambians and reach out His helping hand to whatever needs we are in want of especially healing for all world Citizens who are sick in various hospitals across this planet and/or elsewhere.

  16. It seems LPM is in a very serious condition and probably on the life saving machines. Ba Lupiya, cant any senior government official go 2 france and found out what exactly is happenning 2 our president. Anyway, i think time will tell……LPM is coming back wether dead or alive. Am not wishing him dead, but he is also a human being and one day he will die and i suggest that his remains and indeed all his bad policies be burried at his famous Teka Farms.

  17. Prognosis depends on the type of stroke, the degree and duration of obstruction or hemorrhage, and the extent of brain tissue death. Most stroke patients experience some permanent disability that may interfere with walking, speech, vision, understanding, reasoning, or memory.

Approximately 25% of patients die as a result of the stroke. The location of a hemorrhagic stroke is an important factor in the outcome, and this type generally has a worse prognosis than ischemic stroke.

  18. RB the last time I checked you were not a Medical Doctor, Sata has already advised you chaps, instruct Ernest Sakala to appoint a constitution medical board which will be giving us updates, when JFK was killed the doctors announced to the nation what had killed him when he was certified dead. So Mr VP, do your job and do not think Sata is a fool, on this one he is right take his advise, he has been in Government senior positions longer Mr VP and he knows the way it works. STABLE will not help.

  19. #14

The term “Stable” is only good if used in describing situations where the default status is good. Right now it seems he is in a poor stable condition of health, and most of us are still NOT happy with it. How lond are we to be fed on Stable?

  20. So you think if they send some muppets to France then you will get nothing but the all truth, think heads! Tell me, if they were to send the likes of Mulongoti and Mpombo, would you expect ifyamano from them.

  21. ctd…
given the history that the president has had two strokes in two years and is hypertensive which would highly suggest hes had the more serious of the strokes it would be in order that those who trully love him should continue praying for his full recovery and rehabilitation whilst the government gets its self an emergency leader to run the business at this time, the process is a long one of which we should be prepared for.
there’s ITU, then the normal medical ward, the rehab at which point God willing if all is well he could get back home.

  22. LPM is dead and RB has taken advantage of the situation .He is stealing the money from the goverment coffers. This is what this delay is all about.
Tell us the truth or let the Doctors treating LPM say something .You are the kind of leaders who only wait for an opportunity like this one to steal.
Be honest and tell the nation the truth.

  23. We need proper information on LPM’s health. Why should the Presidency which is a constitutional office be held in a shroud of secrecy when the incumbent’s condition is being demanded by the public. This is not a monarch where you should labell everything pertaining to LPM illness as taboo for the public to discuss. The office of President is a public office and the likes of Mulongoti & RB should not take Zambians for granted. We are doubting their carefully edited updates.

  24. “The Vice President said Dr. Mwanawasa is making slow progress to recovery.” Countrymen please read between the lines. it has been 2 weeks and LPM is making slow progress to recovery! Firstly the word slow is not a good word for a patient.Slow can mean anything except recovery. He further went to say LPM’s condition has not worsened, that simply means he has not improved.Again for 2 weeks LPM has not improved.Come on Zambia why are we being screwed like this. LPM is probably in vegetative state or worse so i wonder what the hell the cabinet is waiting for before they make a decision

  25. LUSAKA TIMES STOP ADVERTISING NIGERIAN COMPANIES OR WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOU ARE ADVERTISING ABOUT THOSE LOOKING FOR A JOB. REMEMBER THESE NIGERIANS ARE CROOKS THEY ARE THE MASTER MINDERS OF 419. JUST THIS MORNING THERE WAS AN ARTICAL ON THE BBC ABOUT SOME NIGERIANS WHO WERE POSING AS CHIEF SCOUTS FOR ASERNAL AND MAN U ASKING THOSE DESPERATE PLAYERS ALL OVER AFRICA TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BEFORE THEY COULD RECRUITED IN THESE TOP CLUBS. NOTE THAT OUR YOUTH ARE SO DESPERATE FOR A JOB AND THEY CAN EASILY FALL VICTIM TO SUCH SCAMMERS.WHY CAN’T THEY EMPOLY FELLOW NIGERIANS WHO ARE LOAMING THE STREETS WITH PHDS.

  26. #19 Dr Mukupa you sound like a medical professional. Can you please advice Lupiya the amount of damage of the strokes you just mentioned. Better still talk to Teta so that he can tell the nation the truth about the stroke that LPM may have suffered.

  27. Indeed TBOZ the English used by the Vice President is a dead give away. When you read thru his statement it tells you that The president is not okay.

  28. Its very sad to see all these comments about our dear president. But two operation on one head means two senses out. So lets just pray for his family to make good decision on when to hand over and just let go of the state house. God help us.

  29. SORRY FELOW BLOGGERS FOR CHANGING THE SUBJECT A LIITLE BIT BUT I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE OPERATED WITH NIGERIANS AND I KNOW WHAT THERE CAPABLE OF DOING NEVER DEAL WITH THEM UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

  30. Pa Zed, do have to be a medical doctor to know that or give us this information? Just google: Stroke and you will have all the information.

  31. They say ignorance is bliss! but lemme clear the air for some of u prayerful folk – any complication on the brain can have severe consequences on the victims speech, eyesight, motor skills etc. The heart can be working alright but a person can be termed clinically dead when the brain loses it’s basic functionality. A 2nd stroke is not something to be taken lightly.

  32. I doubt if our beloved will make it through this rough patch in one piece. Cabinet better prepare themselves for serious decisions in the nxt couple of weeks.

  33. Well said Bwana TBoz we are being screwed here. How long are we gonna wait for LPM, this is not being realistic Levy is as good as dead and yet we bury our heads in the sand and pray. What are praying for? Reality is we dont have a president and prayer is not gonna provide us with one. Lets us be bold enough and be practical. Levy aint coming back and RB is telling us crap.

  34. We need a legal opinion on this. We intend to collect signatures to file in a petion as citizens. We are being taken for a ride by the Government and we cant sit here hopeless. Can anyone with a legal know how advise.

  35. PLEASE TELL NATION THE TRUTH MWANAWASA IS NOT DOING FINE.WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH HERE IN FRANCE.ONLY GOD KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT LPM,S HEALTH AND HIS LIFE IS LIMITED COUSE OF HIS CONDITION.

  36. mwiinga, did you mention panelzambia@gmail as your address? i think i know you, thats if you are not an imposter

  37. Abena France balanda naise bena Zed tiziba ati things are not well.
Lets just prepare our selves with a new president. The doc has said it, operation on the brain is no joke. So pls pls ba Roops help abena Maureen to let go of the state house twapapata.

  38. Fellow country people, this is perhaps the most trying time for our nation – something we have never exeprienced and probably may never experience again, of course depending on the health of our next leader. This moment calls for truth and proper information to be given to us. The brain haemorrhage we were told about – if that is true – is pretty serious. Levy has a less than 100% (I am being modest here) chance of surviving, let alone functioning at full capacity, if at all he comes to. The current leadership needs to take steps to intiate a process of replacing him. In the meantime, we’ll continue to pray for both Levy and his replacement. We are not children and this info is public

  39. Its almost 3 weeks without a president. LPM is still in a coma and we dont know if he will come out of it. Even if he does he wont be able to govern. So what is holding up the VP or Cj from invoking section 39 of the constitution???? Do they have to wait until people rise and demand for a president before they can act. Why is it so difficult for us africans to accept things and move on.

  40. Also we have the Israeli embassy here in Lusaka, why doesn’t our spineless cabinet go and consult on how the astute Israelis treated the Ariel Sharon matter. We are dealing with the same medical condition here and it is important that we solve this matter expeditiously and intelligently…Remember that there may be vultures and vampires waiting to take advantage of the fragile situation. I need not remind you of Cote D’Ivoire apres Houphuoet!

  41. Bingu linked with divorced ex-first lady
    Nyasa Times Reporter 11 July, 2008 02:12:00
    Vera: Bingu’s new found love?
Barely a year after the death of his Zimbabwean wife of 40 years, Ethel, Malawi President Bingu Mutharika has reportedly stepped out with a new love interest. He is linked with former First Lady of Zambia, Vera Chiluba.
Vera was divorced from Zambia’s ex-ruler Fredrick Chiluba in late 2001 on allegations of adultery. She was suspected to have been in an illicit affair with a business tycoon, Archie Mactribouy. She was Chiluba’s second wife and had nine children together.
According to a Malawian resident in Zambian capital, Lusaka, currently on a short holiday in the c

  42. Bible says don’t pray and worry, we have prayed and are believing in Jesus. I believe LPM is recovering but will steep down or the cabinet know the truth and are busy buying time for elections.

  43. It is rummered that Chituwo has gone to c the present. Mr. VP, can you confirm before the news preads again.

  44. # 49 if what you are saying is true then there will be two women married to two presidents in their life time. Graca Machel and Vera chiluba. I think Africa is really an emerging market.

  45. “The world at large does not judge us by who we are and what we know; it judges us by what we have.” so have 3 women u will be judged

  46. hi guys, its been long.we all received the news of our dearly beloved beshi-chipo with saddnes.should he die which is if he isnt dead yet the bena-chipo is to blame.a wife is supposed to be a helmate, she should have helped her husband to think logiacally and not go for secon term givne his state of health then.that is why she was tasting the waters if she could stand as a president coz hse loves kulya bwino!
well it is not an issue of if he is going to pull out or not i dont think he will be able to work from the office that is,if you consider being in bed working then ya he will work.wat we need to do now is that the we need to know what the contitution says.

  47. The intellince and top cabinet officials know the truth. Levy must be in vegetative state. Let’s pray for him so that he recovers. But please for the love of our successful president let’s start preparing to have another one now. The govt is not functioning at full capacity now. We cant allow such a situation to continue. LPM has done his duty. Shall we move on but continue looking after him. Please, please.

  48. Now there is some chance that LPM is “alive”. The doctors there must have tald his family the complications of the surgary. It could be that LPM will not be able to function normaly maybe because part of his brain is completely dead. Now LPM family dont want to give up but keep pushing and praying for a mirracle to happen. But the truth is that it wont change anything just because he is president. For those who can pray keep praying and lets see the results. Cant cabinate demand for his full medical report since 29/06/2008?
There is nothing good in france and nothing better will come out and the doctors cant see any better results unless a mirracle happens. IS IT GOING TO HAPPEN? KAYA

  49. continued.
how can long can this situation go on.we never elected rupiya as president mmd won because of levy and if arent there then its not difficukt to work out wat needs to be done here, elections of course.stop cheating us mr veep,he wont be able to work and we want to hear from the docs what they are saying.and we want it now.zambians wise up this guy is taking us for a ride! a rough one may i add!

  50. #28 & 32. Well timed advise bro. Sometimes zedians can be so stupid that they can’t differentiate between a conman and a real deal. These Nigerians are so good at disguising about who they are and our women folk have fallen prey to them. It’s unbelievable how good zedians have been conned by Nigerians in UK.They think these guys are full of dollars and by the time they realise it, they are pregnant or worse still get Aids. Pls banamayo ichindikeni nabena Niger, Senegales, Ghanaians etc. Mwachula sana.

  51. Dont blame maureen. LPM should have been “man” enaf not to listen to her if he he wanted his health more than kulya bwino

  52. People die others face missfortunes. LPM is human.

We need the fatcs, why cant the doctors give the information to the post for a change.

    Here is the change
From doctor to people on the “bedside” to RP to ZNBC. There is too much corruption of information here.

Lets try from doctors to the post.

  53. There is no need to know the details of LPM’s condition. The updates from RB are just fine. Even if doctors brief you about his specific medical condition, you won’t believe them because they will still say his condition is stable. Just keep praying yee of little faith… God bless Zambia

  54. Can the experts in the medical field inform the nation about the status of our President. I think we’ve had enough of the Mulongoti’s, Mpombo’s and the vice president giving us updates on issues they don’t even understand. I believe the Presido is in a serious condition. Come on Zambians !!!!!!!! Wake-up !!!!!

  55. #35 I agree with you. The word stable needs to be put to rest, its become a cliche. I think the GRZ should hire Max Clifford to do the PR coz right now its an absolute disaster!! Mind you, the likes of Max Clifford we’d think that LPM is alright and its the rest of us that are suffering strokes!! I was going to suggest a petition to the prez to release more information, but that idea quickly faded…..

  56. aah tired of stable shani uko….i agree with TetA we need some one to replace LPM..viva muntati and chirwa

  57. I just googled this story. It true there is a story running about Vera in Nyasa time.

“Home | Columns | Bingu linked with divorced ex-first lady
Bingu linked with divorced ex-first lady
Font size: Nyasa Times Reporter 11 July, 2008 02:12:00”

  58. Most of you guys think like FEACES,I don’t see how most of you are demonizing Levy’s illness.
All that he needs is to recover wether slow or fast,it is not your concern.keep yourself busy and contribute to national development than talking rubbish,BA GALU!!!

  59. Bane tiyeni tushibuke. Maybe the presido is long gone and these thieves are trying to seal-up all the holes

  60. There’s just too much smoke surrounding this matter. People who are left in ignorance can’t help but conclude. Only God knows how long it will take before we see the fire down below. People get ready for the hour of truth. I have a feeling most of us will have to cry.

  61. How does MMD intend going about it if it is declared that the President is incapacitated. Think of the logistics involved if say tomorrow the Chief Justice declares LPM incapacitated, according to the constitution a new President will have to be elected within 90 days. I don’t know what the MMD constitution says but I assume that the National Convention of MMD would have to be convened to choose the President of the party, I further assume that at least 30 days notice would have to be given for such a meeting. I foresee many contenders for the post, the resulting battle is going to be acrimonious, divisive and fractious. Whoever wins it will be at the cost of the party there is every likelih

  62. There’s just too much smoke surrounding this matter. People who are left in ignorance can’t help but conclude. Only God knows how long it will take before we get to see the fire down below. People get ready to face the truth.

  63. For once the Veep has told you lot that the President’s condition is not worsening but does not improve much(stable) so what the hell are you still questioning, bloody hell,i have never seen such kind of arrogance!
It’s not all people in coma that regain consciousness quickly,it takes days, weeks, months and years before one wakes up.Some wake up to their normal selves, others have some sort of disability etc but in this case we know Levy has had 2 strokes so he’s not gonna go back into office, can’t you just shut up & wait for cabinet & judiciary to deal with the matter, they are not *****s as you think, patience pays please, yes soon you will have a new President but shut up & wait.

  64. there is every likelihood that the resulting power struggle will split the party and losing factions will join opposition parties. So the leader of the divided party will have 60 days left in which to battle it out with the opposition party candidates who would have the advantage of having started 30 days earlier since the other parties already have their leaders in place. The longer the delay the worse it is going to be for MMD.

  65. yeah i have read the whole story of Vera attending to state functions at state house in Malawi. I think this is goog for her. Bane we shouldn’t blame her, Nyele ni nyele, go and ask Dr Dan Chisekeseke Pule or Fred M’membe.

  66. #71. I think you are sick. Is the Veep a medical doctor? Dont you realise that he is acting just like a proxy?

  67. # 48 please don’t spread lies. We have no diplomatic ties with the Jews therefore there is no such thing as an Israeli embassy in Zambia. I don’t know what is there to consult on the illness because Ariel Sharon was replaced by Olmert as Prime Minister.

  68. Zambia is for all and the Office for the president is a public!! Hence, teh sickness should be debated publicly. If these *****s cant give us information, I think ZNBC or one of the private TV stations should arrange a programme to discuss strokes and its effects and work out the probabilities of Levi’s condition. There are somany ways to catch a rat!!

  69. It will not help anyone by sending more Ministers and a naive chap like Sata to verify the health of the President,Levy has got his own Physician who travels with him wherever he goes and the Minister of Health Gen Chituwo was in Paris and giving updates to the Veep & Levy’s close family members, maybe Gen Chituwo has returned now but he is a medical doctor and cannot lie when he informs the Veep about the status of the President who is as he is,stable as he is not worsening but improves slowly or does not improve because he is in a coma,a coma is not like malaria were you will see progress every hour or day.

  70. #66,we are not demonizing the illiness we just want the truth coz we never elected vp for president thats why we want the truth about his health.all we want is to hear from his docs and not from our corrupt leaders!and about maureen what i meant was levy was in no fit condition to go for second term,i even those of us who are not close to him could see he shoulnt have gone for the second term but her as the wife she she should have known that or she knew that.

  71. No one has right to blame the first lady because Levy went for a second term,Levy is not a kid,he wanted to continue providing service to the country and so all we should say is thank you & sorry that he is ill as a result of working too much. Can anyone here in their right mind refuse to take on a good job when an opportunity arises,i don’t think so infact they say power is sweet, look how all worldly leaders try to cling on to power so who is Maureen to drag her husband to lodge in his candidature.
Apportioning blame will not help matters, the Veep, cabinet & judiciary are probably ready to take action should need arise, they are not fools for heavens sake.

  72. # 79 being one’s husband does not mean you should give you own life for the wife unless of course you are a jesus or you love her so much. maureen is an individual who can take advantage of levy’s position to further her own interests hence pressure him to stand. so he should have known better about his health coz no matter how long they have been married, they are individuals with different interests. hilary stood by bill coz she wanted to portray an image of a loyal woman hence loyal- president-please-vote-for-me.

  73. Ultimately it was his personal choice. He gambled on his health, since he new and and the issue was been discussed in public arena, but unfortunately lucky has not been what he baited for.

  74. You don’t need a medical Doctor to update us on LPM. Any one can read a Doctors report. Colleagues consider the magnitude of the situation and that is why the VP is giving updates. Even in our family set-up only high ranking Relatives like Uncles give updates on family illness or funerals. No same family members demand to see medical reports

The other issue is choosing the right wording even my grandpa can understand. How many pipo are intested in knowing the number of brain tissues LMP has?? Type of stroke? Or LPM blood pressure is pascals?? Lets not be cry babies.

You can say all you want GRZ or any Govenmt for that matter is not akantembe where you can only hear the loudest!!

  75. The whole Zambia is a katemba just walk or drive around Zambian cities, shanty compounds, markets it’s tutemba everywhere.
GRZ is the largest kutemba in the country that’s why 85% of Zambians live in abject poverty. It’s a katemba economy.

  76. #84 Zambia, I agree with you to some extent. Neverthess GRZ has a million processes, rules and procedure nearly on anything including communication. And just like company, if the MD is not in the Office, only a high ranking executive can communicate to the public. And as you know, the MD/CEO is accountable for any risk management issues.

Hence is our case, the VP is managing all the risks (Polical, economical, social etc). He may choose to delegate to any Minister not necessarily Chituwo…

  77. Sorry, #73 I have been considering filing legal proceedings on your use a similar LT-blog-name to mine. Hhehehhehhe…. However, I have decided to relax and just disassociate myself from your name on #73 and comments.
Please, consider coming up with your own brand-name so that we avoid confusion which might erupt to the on-lookers or bloggers on here.
Please, I use a lot of variants to hhehhehhehhe like Hhehhehhehhe and so on and your name is creating commotion in my head now.

  78. #86 I think you should report this chap to the World Trademarks authority. The guy clearly see’s you using Hhehhehhehhe but he is using Hehehe…. this is clearly confusing for the rest of us to know who is who on this blog (more so since most of use our real names). Its like making your own drink and calling it Koka-Kola or opening a restaurant and calling it McDonnolds. If Hehehe doesn’t stop copying Hhehhehhe then anarchy will ensue.

  79. Circus pa Zed,Our dear Levy will continue being stable untill we do not know,(nobody knows this state of stability anyway,is it vegetative?)the slow progress is good news to all,but torwards what?that should set the constitutional process in gear.Convene Cabinet, select 3 Medical Practitioners Zambian or commonwhealth to examine our President and recommend either way.Chief Justice involvement.Procrastination is a thief of time and opportunity. We need abit more honest Tetas.Best wishes to Levy.

  80. Ladies and Gentlemen, this reminds of the Sikota Wina’s book, a night without a president, this will be a year without a President, his Doctor in this case Dr Simom Miti, is not at liberty to inform the nation not even Chituwo is, because there is a constitutional matter that needs to be determined by cabinet and the Chief Justice, if Drs Miti and Chituwo are part of the CJs medical board, then they will be at liberty to informa the nation instead of this RB stable nonsense that has become sickening.

  81. Maureen is not to blame. LPM is old enough to make his own choices. Zeddy am worried for you coz you will end up with a stroke as well for trying to take on every blogger. If u have connections with the first family, why don’t you spend more time praying for LPM than fighting bloggers. That aside we need to move on as a nation. This situation is counter productive and the longer we relish it the more harm to or country. Someone brought the idea of signatures to petition the politicians and I support that idea. No work is going on in these ministries I can assure u as everyone every morning is talking to someone about the situation. He should be replaced sooner than later.

  82. Con someone tell this retard that we need an update on the state of his health. is he awake or in a coma, if he is awake can he talk, what is his long term prognosis, is he ever going to function as a normal dude or he is gonna be a kabiki? we need answers man. vague updates are not good enough.

  83. #91 Namayo
Thanx alot for your advice, prayers for Levy will not stop and yes you’re right i can suffer the same fate as Levy if God chooses, however,it’s just so irritating when you read an article on this blog and you still find chaps are still asking what happened to Levy,is he in a coma, can he talk, walk and some even go to the extent of demanding that some Ministers & the ZNBC crew travel to film Levy lying unconscious on his bed,it just boggles my mind how hard it is to pump sense into people,it’s very noticeable that it’s just the same people on the blog and they keep mumbling on what is going on 2 weeks after Levy went into a coma.

  84. Folks lets not forget that the Prez was at one time involved in a car car accident that may have caused some damage to his brain and somewhat impaired his speech. He is also known to be a type two diabetic. “Stable ” condition may only mean that rhe Prezidents’ blood pressure and blood sugar are under control.

  85. #94, Zeddy my dear. Wake up, don’t be so myopic. The people voted LPM prez (OK I didn’t, but thats beside the point). The prez is a public figure we have the right to know the mans condition. How are we expected to ready ourselves for the worst? Or even (praying desperately for this) the prez recovers and we have a day to organise a party!!! The country needs to move on but how can we?

  86. The next two weeks will be crucial. We need to find the trueth..without it and being withheld will bring more talk and discontent to the public..and this is gonna be risky to our peace and development.
We dont respect Rupiah Banda, I doubt anyone in MMD who is not on family branches respect him. This power vacuum and defacto coup by RB and his MMD thugs may have to meet the wrath of our Zedians.. Dont say HK never told you..i told you earlier on that we need to manage the president healthy with the trueth and interest of the nation..not that of family tree

  87. #96 Mumbling for weeks on end will not help us neither can we plan for what happens,it’s the prerogative of cabinet to do that and inform the Chief Justice, not some blogger & it does not matter whether that blogger voted for Levy or not.I am not in dream land as u say,it’s clear some people here are in the world of total arrogance by not taking into consideration that airing their sick sentiments on a blog will not change anything.
Get it straight,Levy will not go back into office so change will definately be there but we cannot decide when the process will start,we have never been in this situation as a nation so it’s better to approach this with caution instead of rushing that’s my point.

  88. Zeddy slow down if people are not allowed to say what they want to say, we risk bottling up and exploding later. Just ignore some of the posts and do not make it your responsbility to correct everyone, I was a lecturer once so I know what it feels. ba Namayo, you might want to just observe as the wheels of LT turn.

  89. #99 agreed, let us leave this to cabinet, like Sata said if the MMD need any Zambian’s advice, they will ask for it. The matter is straightforward its only that we have a Government that is too connected to the Presidency and we have too much power in that office, maybe the NCC would do well to address this issue.

  90. Mwiinga,i guess you’re right about not responding to every post even when directed at me but i am not trying to correct anyone, just expressing my disgust at seeing people who keep insulting the government when it’s clear the govt cannot release more than what is told to the by doctors and also those itching to have a new President even before a month since the President fell ill,it is very clear now that no matter what happens to the ill President,he may not retun to office or even return home in a good state to continue working, but you’re right,it’s time to sit back and enjoy the mumblings.

  91. Ba Zed people, Let the man regain his strength, being a President is a stress job, just ask KK or Chiluba….Let him get back to office at his own watch…just keep on working hard for your families…Medical leave is a private matter even for leaders, respect the first family for once…Ask for updates, let Mr Banda deal with news outlet…We are watching you!!

  92. “insulting the government when it’s clear the govt cannot release more than what is told to the by doctors” precisely, have a good day am assuming it is still day where u r.

  93. Have a good evening Mwiinga,at the moment,it’s only one hour difference between where i am and my homeland Zed.

  94. ” Updates on Levy Should not be Doubted-Rupiah Banda ”

Interesting. If they are incorrect, will he resign? It is time politicians put their money where their mouths are.

If this is another ‘Levy is jogging in the streets of London’ affair, the politicians in question should withdraw from their positions, because the people of the country have the right to be told the truth.

  95. Mwiinga get a life you always talking nonsense kid

Son of a Banshee!!!! our age, not your IQ
wow…so original. you must have graduated top of your class

  96. LPM is not coming bck to continue at plot 1.lets prepare ourselves for the worst, the man is clinically dead even R knows that. we have our own realible sources there.Eversince he was operated on, yesterday LPM only made a bit of movements by kicking his feet. the rest of the body is still.what is R talking about

  97. awe ba vera muli hule, 1st that small boy mrs lungu’s boy toy, naba francoise ku congo, nomba u start lying ati naba mutarika twapapata lekeni twaleni ifi pato kumenso uko!!!! Next we’ll hear that u want zuma.. ish woman u are a PROFESSIONAL WHORE!!! Disgusting!

  98. if Ruphia Banda and his group are confident of LPM coming bck to continue working, why are they running to have meetings with HH. Alot of these ministers and senior govt persons are going to meet HH.But why are they panicking.

  99. Ok, here is a legal mind thinking…You knw the Constitution is silent on how we must wait for the CJ to stand up and appoint a tribunal to investigate the medical status of Levy. Where such a situation exists, legally it is assumed it will be done in a reasonable period. In the circums of this case I would suggest a month is a long time to stay without a President. At the lapse of 30 days from date LPM fell ill, we should mobilise ourselves and petition the CJ to act. Enough of RB and his stable updates!

  100. #108 thank you for being one of my avid fans, you shall be rewarded youngman/woman. check me out on my site for more since you do not seem to get more of my “nonsense” on the blog

  101. What the doc said to RB:
    Condition : Comatose
Update : happy to say Stable.
Prognosis : maybe in coma for days or month or years
Action : RB starts to cry

What RB said to Zambian People:
    Conditon : Stroke
    Update : Doctors are happy
    Prognosis: ?
Action : Teta request for LPM replacement

  102. #19 and 23 Mukupa, your points are really valid and several guys have pointed them out before including myself and we have been called devils wishing the president bad lack. Some people have responded by googling and picking an isolated statement to use against your opinion. If you are medical, I am assuming you are, I am sure you know thats what drives medicine. The fact that Mwanawasa is unlikely to come back to office should be accepted. Meanwhile the nation, Zambia, needs a leader. We know that haemorrhage and the increased intracranial pressure is likely to compress the brain agains the foramen magnum and thereby damaging his cranial nerves of course it depends on its size and location.

  103. What we also dont know is if the haemorrhage was as a result of an arterial venous malforamtion(AVM)or a ruptured aneurysm. I wouldnt wish either on my waste enemy. How did they stop the bleed?did they glue the aneurysm?coil it? clip it (most unkieky). We definitely are not asking for his medical notes/tests but we want to be told simple answers to the following questions. Is he still in coma? Is he conscous? How much memory has he recovered? Most importantly does he know he is president?

  104. I think I am finding it hard to understand RB’S english people help me what is slow progress in this case how are we supposed to imagine? Measuring is always done between two definite points using an cceptable measuring tool. We know he had a stroke and went into coma-thats one point. But we dont have the second point and I think thats where the biggest problem is. COMA to STABLE can you measure that? COMA to SLOW PROGRESS can you measure that. RB stop insulting us and tell us something sensible. Perharps someone should sponsor Mr Lambart the Neurosurgeon to explain stroke to the nation in general terms on ZNBC. RB we are tired. You have told us everything but what we need to know.

  105. 109 thank you for the update in any case movements in the feet are controlled by the lumboscaral plexus (a nerve network) originating from your lower spine not directly the brain. So that movement is possible. But sight, hearing, facialmuscles, movements, breathing, speech etc are controlled by the cranial nerves/some cenres right up in the brain.

  106. if sata was not in good terms with LPM we would have known LPM condition by now.we would have known all the details.Manje naba sata nizi.

  107. ha ha ha!!!! COMA to STABLE. Ati COMA to SLOW PROGRESS. You these guys are dull. they could have come up with a ka doctor who should have been giving us updates. Paint the positive picture, tell the people LPM will be fine and so on and so fourth. Now they started with crying pa front page!

  108. the authorities in zambia surely know the condition of LPM; they have chosen not to tell us. Constitutional lawyers, how long can RB act?

  109. Mala msana wandalama,SAGE/Socrates,HK,Kuku
Bane, ala Malone Zaza is a son of Pragmatist.I guess you remember him saying he has a son at UNISA, parents in L/stone and 3 big farms in Chamba Valley and he uses John Deerer & Furgason to till land te? That is why he’s in thin air.

  110. MwiinYour house is soooo small, if you stick your key in the front door, you stab 5 people standing in the hallway.”ga

  111. TETAmashisha, must concentrate on prayers and not undermining the authority of RB.If anything it was MMD ebaipwile impashi pa makasa during their last convectional they all agreed not to have Veep te? So let RB warm akapuna for ba Levy WHEN HE COME BACK.

  112. I think we need to start looking at our constitution and see what it says and who will take over. This crisis over Mr Mwanawasa’s health is not going to be over anytime soon, he had a trecheostomy to help him breath, i dont think he can talk yet and am sure he suffered some paralysis on half his body, i know this because i work in the medical field and rarely do you find people who survive a major stroke with no damage, otherwise it would be termed as a minor stroke.
what caused this maybe hypertention, an embolus or whatever but having helped lots of people go through this,i know it takes a long time to recover, there are no short cuts and even after recovery, very few people come out well

  113. Yaba!!! Same old story again and again and again.Am sick and pissed off with RB.Wake you lots or you will pay dearly.

  114. Mine is an appeal to NCC chirman learned Chifumu Banda, pliz let’s have a Costitution that will avoid all this mess. The presido’s powers are too much even in sickness or near death cabinet is scared and they start diverting to poor zaza. Vp,CJ,speaker all are puppets.these are serious issues that deserve the attention of all judiciary, legislature and executive to make decisions not pedaling crap.

  115. I repeat the secrecy of our system needs to stop, we need to know what is going on there. An update will tell us if he is in comatose, highly sedated, talking, moving his extremities, any paralysis, any surgeries done and why, otherwise, they need to stop giving us so called nosence updates.
If we were to be given such information, i can give you what would be the final conclusion about his situation. But mark my words, he will never be president again.unless we want to have a diminshed mental capacity president, deformed and will definately have more health problems and surgeries within the next years.

  116. #130, I agree with the issue of the NCC looking at how our current situation must be handled in future. Let the issue of the time frame in which the Vice President, cabinet and the Chief Justice can begin discussing a sitting President’s health status can be done be included in the next Republican Constitution. Someone said “we learn from mistakes”. And so let us take this opportunity to do a good enough job on the next Republican Constituion.
#88, thank you for your advice and sound concern regarding use of blog-names.

  117. #71 Zeddy where in hell did you do medicine? From wikipedia? Those are bloody opinions based researched work of course within the confine of the researchers experience and it is heavily debatable. Those opinions are then posted on wikipedia. Can you for once stop commenting everywhere. How much has he told us? Great its not worsening do we know the baseline, I mean his actual condition when he went to paris? Comatose? And you think thats enough? For hell’s sake are the one being arogant. You sound like a broken record or even a spokeschap for the RB. Or are you?

  118. Zeddy Chituwo is an Orthopaedic (bones)Surgeon and he has been in administration for a long time. Personally I would be quiet reluctant to refer a relative to Gen Chituwo for treatment. Medicine is a practical profession and not administrational please. To lie or not to lie is moral test and is not guided by one’s profession. I strongly doubt Chituwo is even still registred with the Royal College of Surgeons because he doesnt have opertions to back up his CPD etc. I just thought you should know

  119. #102 Zeddy you sound like Mulongoti’s son or Mpombo’s nephew. You live in denial. A Dr Manda who specialises in the brain questioned the updates. Yes a coma takes years to recover. How long should the nation wait. There must be a sense of urgency.

Its not about levy dying, its about handling a national crisis like illiterates after 44yrs of independence what a joke!!

  120. BINGO, some catch words pertaining to the TRUE picture have started coming up. Read this carefully
“The Vice President said Dr. Mwanawasa is making slow progress to recovery.”
To me, a slow progress means a lot and i bet they are not talking of stabilizing LPM on the machines. If at all he is connected, how is he going to be transfered from paris to lusaka?
    ngafweniko na data bane

  121. the presedent has had a stroke! Now what is the way forward?… when this happened in Isreal they had elections to elect a new president… Noone knows how long he is going to be in a coma.. we need to move forward as a nation.

  122. WORD ABUSE – STABLE, SLOW PROGRESS, IMPROVING.
    UPDATE: EVERY TWO WEEKS
    DISEASE: MULTIPLE
    DIGNOSIS: UPON CONSULTATION
POSITION HELD BY PATIENT: PUBLIC (PRESIDENT)AND NOT INHERITANCE (KINGDOM / CHIEFDOM)
    REACTION TO MEDICINES: ?
ACTIVITIES : ISSUING SPEECHES THROUGH VP (SOURCE UNKNOWN)

  123. We need to move forward – we need to set an elections date and start looking at suitable candidates.
LPM cannot carry on – what is all this procrastination about?
Can’t the Chief Justice step in now and make a decision on the way forward?

  124. guys, lets us respect our leadership regarless of how they got there.the bible commands that you respect your leaders.back to the issue at hand, saying maureen should not be blamed isnt true she is partly to blame because being a wife she should have advised him not go for the second term coz am sure he takes her advise seriously.and then why did she have to wait till levy couldnt go for a third term for her to know that she wanted to stand as pres?mrs clinton waited till they were out of white house.so wat i really want to know is there someone out there with a legal understanding so that they explain wat happens now accoring to our constitution?

  125. i mean we cannot be talking of his state of health we all know wat state he is in so we need to move forward with the elections.the mmd will never tell us the truth, fred mmebe you and the post have let us down on this one,wer is the post quiet?

  126. iwe Rupiah Banda, uli ciyanga kapati…how do you continue saying he’s stable kaali muntu ulifwile?kotwaambila masimpe mulombe nkaambo biyo biyo uyakuumwa..we need the truth ok!if you’ve failed step aside…

  127. as much as we are all wishing the president a quick recovery, the vp should be realistic in wat he says, wats wrong if we got the real situation, besides we will all continue with our busy schedules.moreover this whole issue has led every thing to a halt.send chituwo to France for more infor,vp you hav neva bin to France nw whr r u getin wat u r sayin

  128. #137 most medical machines can work on battery as well and they are portable just like your cell phone. Secondly, they are likely to use the AIR AMBULANCE which is equipped with advanced life supporting equipment. We all know that LPM wont retain his full functions and he probably paralysed one side of the body as pointed out by some blogger. If he does not progress to the vegetative state (assuming he hasnt already), his recovery is likely to be very slow and he will need a lot of help. One thing I am very certain aboutis that the government must have been told LPM’s prognosis by the doctors looking after him and that prognosis is what the nation wants to hear. These useless update that he

  129. cont from 145…moved his toe, he was smiling are at best irrelevant this cannot be overemphasised. He is likely to get off the breathing equipment as well at one point but tha doesnt mean he has recovered fully from the stroke. So RB please tell us the PROGNOSIS AS NSTATED BY THE DOCTORS LOOKING AFTER HIM ANDNOT IN YOUR OWN WORDS BECAUSE MOST ZAMBIANS FIND THEM HARD TO COMPREHEND

  130. i agree with those calling for us to move forward. LPM may his soul survive, cant come back to rule. we all know the problems he’s had. our leaders need to urgently agree on this so we can have another president. i bet you the delays are because they are currently fighting over who should take over

  131. Disability affects 75% of stroke survivors enough to decrease their employability.Stroke can affect patients physically, mentally, emotionally, or a combination of the three. The results of stroke vary widely depending on size and location of the lesion.Dysfunctions correspond to areas in the brain that have been damaged. Some physical disabilities that can result from stroke include paralysis, numbness, pressure sores, pneumonia, incontinence, apraxia (inability to perform learned movements), difficulty carrying out daily activities, appetite, speech and vision loss, and pain. If the stroke is severe enough, or in a certain location such as parts of the brainstem, coma or death can result

  132. i think muloongooti is just trying to blind fold members of the country, why cant maureen or mwanawasa say something about what is happing to his husband.stroke is severe especially this being the second time to have it and being operated on the skull, one might not be normal again, but we hope it will be something else with him

  133. but i think we need to go forward.lets go for the elections.we need enough time for those of us who are away from home so tht we prepare to vote HH into power.i agree with 112 totaly.lets petition we did wen ftj or is it fjt wanted to go for a third term.

  134. LPM even before strokes was not well, why cant these silly leaders just accept that and move on? somebody suggested an online pertition, maybe we should do that to force these people, esspecially chief justice to make a move on it

  135. Like what ba Mukupa said, a friend on Mine also a Zedian doctor I hang around with on Friday evenings here in JOZ told me that it is just a matter of time, RP and MMD thugs will lie and lie, but their days in Govt are numbered, Can Mulongoti or RP or anyone responsible table the contigency plan discussion in parliament. By the way, is parliament meeting at the moment?

  136. no one survives two strokes and retain full falculty functions.
mwanawasa is likely to survive but highly unlikely to function normally in a manner that will enable him to continue carrying out functions of the office of the president. so banda should stop being such a numbskul as to hope mwanawasa will be fully healthy again.

  137. Wonderful issues altogether, you simply gained a brand new reader. What might you suggest about your submit that you just made a few days in the past? Any sure?
