  1. Finally. My heart is aching that I am far away. I have been dying to catch a glimpse of the procession. Thank you LT.

I am mourning with you my fellow Zambians.

God be with you all and thank you for being so peaceful. I am proud of my country.

    Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil;
    For You are with me;
Your od and Your staff, they comfort me.

May Levy’s soul rest in eternal peace.

  2. mmmmmmmmmmmm shame the big man comes back in a casket thot he wud survive this too.Guy’s if u can pliz upload a video on u tube o something so we can also see.

  3. This is good ba LT you know without you we are nothing. Iwe wewaleponta pama pictures don`t opoen this page but if you have then waba ichimona. Mwila sabailafye bakapala. Ba LT nabo bantu balofwa. Ka last request ba LT shaniko picture for Maureen and also for LPM inside the cofin.

  4. Mambala # 14 LPM was a commander-in-chief of the armed forces and thats the best way of doing it. You wanted them to use a church van with finished tyres? If anything it has to be more than a military parade. Thats the only correct way of doing it an military honour is the greatest one you can give to the highest person in society.

  5. #14 Mwanawasa was a commander in chief of zambia’s armed forces and the army was simply doing its duty. For your info at the airport there was a 21 gun salute, and some ZAF fighter jets first accompanied the french plane when it entered Zambian airspace and then made a fly past during the salute. Its a sign of respect.

  6. Thanks for the Pictures we really appreciate. ZNBC, Post newspaper, Times of Zambia and DAILY MAIL PLEASE WAKE UP AND UPLOAD SOME PICTURES TOO. Reuters.com has some pictures too though it is an International news organization.

  7. Thanx 4 uploading da photos ba LT, im holding back tears again. Kinda Reminds me of the Gabon air disaster when we lined up along GE Road. Den Dis

  8. Thanks LT. I am in England, after seeing the photos am almost shadding tears. The state of lose and bereavement my fellow zedians are experiencing has griped my heart with many hands. I wish at such a time like i was home. Its only now that i realise LPM is truly gone.

One thing though LT. try to add emoticons to the site

  9. Thanks for the photos. Nothing could be as being home, but this helps a bit. I can see people united in sorrow, hope will never forget that it is One Zambia One Nation. Show the world we able to manage the situation in peace;show our President that his work will keep spreading. RIP MR President

  10. #31 do you have proper papers or you are like those who once they leave can not return? How does someone live 10 years without seeing his parents, sisters brothers, cousins, you name them!

Thought you were being smart? Fool! Balimwipa batata? Even I go to see my relatives every 6-12 months in China. lol!

  11. Ba LT so you have a camera..Please also get a decent picture of Sata and not the bad one you showed in the other story..or was it deliberate..

  15. # 37. There’s a picture of Sata being shown the way to leave the funeral procession by a police officer in Chipata on the reuters.com website.

  16. #38,39.Please look carefully at the photos again. Is Maureen smiling for real?By the way in this time and era,how should women behave at a funeral?Throw themselves on the ground, refuse to eat,to smile, they should’nt even talk, and they should show that they are extremely miserable?Get real.Death is for all of us and as a christian, Maureen knows very well that her husband has gone to a better place.Ba LT thanks for the photos.

  17. Sure baya ba Levy. Iyo mwandi. Till we meet again.

But iwe mudala Sata, ninshi uku konka ichitumbi from province to province? What’s your game plan? Amano yalya ine yabu conductor taulaleka? Buloshi?

Mayo ba woman,I dont support the idea of rnning away from our culture and start immitating a useless foreighn culture.I’m sure you have travelled enough to note that the western culture is so perverse and you may wish to know that they were once strict just like our culture in there history.I can assure you tha tright now they admire us a lot.Im in the US and my wife is wite but we dont compromise on my tradition.I know you cant beleive.

  23. #53.No need to go back.Oooh,,,,Well taught woman, that’s me.I think you’ve stayed there USA far too long.Does tradition and Christianity go hand in hand?Coz at church we are told not to mourn like unbelievers who think there’s no after life. Will argue with you tomorrow coz im at GMT.

  24. well this is more like real reporting now LT keep up the good works dont mind those who critise even the pixles quality the message is what is important viva LT Viva HH AND MUTATI, what happens to cabinet if Opposition wins? does he disband the cabinet, then how does he appoint new ministers, those who read the constitution give us feed back please

  25. Thanks for the pictures. Am still struggling to understand the Sata vs Maureen controversy, though. To some degree, it doesn’t reflect well on both of them; we expect more from Sata, just as from Maureen.

  26. Man we need more fotos thanx you know Bamambala kuno nothing about Levy as Mugabe surely please Ingi nishi We Want so see Levy I dont think they will even show a clip of his burial please broadcast even clip of whats happening that side ZNBC fake Times of zambia nimboshi update last week

Does anyone know, is the amnesty for illegals still open here in the states? i want to declare my self so they can get me a ticket back home.

  40. # 54 Ponga, side by side were military personnel saluting to the body, for your info even in France the body was given full military salute.

    MHSRIP

  41. thanx LT..didnt have the chance to see it live but this is cool..hope you’ll show us the burial photos too.. RIP Levy…

  46. Guys lefts vote Katele, the dude will not be using the national coffers to fly around the world but magic. Mwalaba Chiengi technology.

  47. Chi #96. do u know wat you are talking about….atleast Sata is still in Zambia…wat about you? Shut up & concentrate on eating candy there.

  48. 80. INDIA. Where in India are you? Wud do with some Zambian company so that we cud mourn LPM together in Zambian style. Im in Delhi 9899163385

  49. Nice to read from most of the positive statements. its shows what a visionary man LPM was. Its a loss to the national, a loss to the region as well as the international community. So you guys outside, make a move to come back home and occupy your rightful positions in society. so together we can preserve and develop further, the gains that accured under his leadership.

  50. #14 JUST SHUT-UP IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A PRESIDENT,HE DESERVES THAT PARADE,MAY BE I HAVE EVEN CONFUSED YOU FURTHER.LEARN TO ASK IWE.RIP LPM

  51. LT, you are doing a very good job. We appreciate your efforts to keep some of us out of the country updated as information comes to hand. We mourn together with the people back in Zambia the death of LPM and I feel so much attached to my country after seeing the pictures of the procession on your website.Once again, I commend you for the good job you are doing.

  52. NO.14 I have atleast had a chance to understand the Millitary better than you,so allow me to give you a bit of some education. In the millitary, even a funeral is a parade and besides thats the Commander-in-chief of all armed forces we are talking about. How then should you be so foolish as to even question the presence of the Millitary there? Well, guess you have learnt something so that next time you wont be so foolish as to express your ignorance on public media. Namusebana imwe ba blogger!

  53. “MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, THIS TEACHING TELLS US THAT WITHOUT RECONCILIATION AMONGST OURSELVES; OUR PRAYERS TO GOD WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. WE MUST THEREFORE DO FIRST THINGS FIRST: RECONCILE THEN SEEK THE FACE OF GOD”.

  54. “… THIS IS MY FINAL PRESIDENTIAL TERM. I HAVE A DREAM TO LEAVE ZAMBIA EVEN GREATER THAN BEFORE YOU ELECTED ME IN 2001. HOWEVER, I WILL ONLY DO SO WITH YOUR SUPPORT AND COMMITMENT. I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE A LEGACY OF THE RULE OF LAW. I WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE A CULTURE WHERE NATIONAL DEBATE IS NOT ABOUT ASSASSINATING EACH OTHER’S CHARACTERS BUT A SEARCH FOR SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT THE WEAKEST MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY…

  55. [HOWEVER] OUR EFFORTS WILL NOT YIELD MUCH IF THEY ARE NOT FOUNDED ON STRONG FEELINGS OF LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER AND A STRONG COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL UNITY…LET US ALL UNITE TO CREATE A BETTER ZAMBIA…WE NEED EACH OTHER TO SUCCEED.”.

  56. I just observed these chaps posting from abroad have very poor grammar. Why? Look at this crap of a mis-spelling “moaning” from a Mildred in London. That’s why these chaps suffer that side. Well, for us….we are mourning Levy! R.I.P, Prez! Chembe bridge got your name now…!

  57. HENCE, MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, IF YOU HAD READ THE LETTER AND SPIRIT OF MY SPEECH ON THAT GREAT DAY, THIS DEVELOPMENT SHOULD NOT SURPRISE OR UNSETTLE YOU. FELLOW CHRISTIANS, I DO NOT SAY THIS TO SEEK PRAISE AND REWARD. NAY. THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA HAVE REWARDED ME ENOUGH BY MAKING ME THEIR TOP SERVANT, AN HONOUR FOR WHICH I WILL ALWAYS REMAIN TRULY GRATEFUL. NEITHER DO I WISH TO CLAIM TOTAL INNOCENCE IN SOME OF THE POLITICAL DIFFERENCES THAT WE MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED DURING MY PRESIDENCY.

  58. FELLOW CHRISTIANS, IS IT NOT A SERIOUS CONTRADICTION AND UTTER HYPOCRICY THAT ALTHOUGH CHRISTIANITY IS GROWING IN AFRICA, WE AFRICANS CONTINUE TO HATE EACH OTHER WITH PASSION? HOW CAN ONE EXPLAIN THE RECENT XENOPHOBIC, NOW BEING REFFERED TO AFRI-PHOBIC, ATTACKS IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA? I DO NOT WANT TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAY OF EXPRESSING GRATITUDE TO OTHER AFRICAN NATIONS THAT SACRIFICED SO MUCH IN THE ANTI-APARTHEID STRUGGLE. GOD FORBID! THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING AMISS WHICH CALLS FOR URGENT AND SERIOUS RESOLUTION.

  59. Levy Mwanawasa, who were you?

hated by some, Loved by some, misunderstood by his own country men & women, his fruits enjoyed by us (me) in particular, despised by the citizens.

O’ …. now you are gone,

Surely to God Almighty, he who formed you, He who knew you in your mothers womb for He made you what you were even before you were born, to Him alone be the Glory, Power and Honor for ever and ever in Christ Jesus.

May He cause you to be at peace even with your soul.

    God bless our Nation.

    RIP Levy.

  60. #101 son of a witch poor old man just shut up if the madman sata is yo relative.we don’t want too many first ladies and four(4) families in state house.ganja NO NO.lEARN TO SEE FOR YOUR SELF.

  61. Life Goes On, Pali infa kulibe ali na power, unga zi cheza lelo milo ta taya, thanx petersen for those lyrics.

Rest “N” Peace, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa, even though i never knew you but you was my leader.

GOD BLESS AND WAT CH OVER UR LEFT BEHIND FAMILY.

  62. It is sad that Zambians use such a good communication forum to utter insults at each other.
Let us express positive and constructive views and not abuse this usefull forum.

  63. SERMON DELIVERED BY THE CHIEF OF CHAPLAINS,
COLONEL JAMES PHIRI DURING THE WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
IN HONOUR OF THE LATE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT
    DR LEVY PATRICK MWANAWASA SC
AT THE MULUNGUSHI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE
    ON 22 AUGUST 2008

    SALUTATION

THE FIRST LADY, MADAM MAUREEN MWANAWASA,
    MEMBERS OF THE BEREAVED FAMILY,
YOUR HONOR THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA,
    MR RUPIAH BANDA,
THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA,
    DR KENNETH KAUNDA,
THE SECOND PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA,
    DR FREDERICK CHILUBA
MY LORD THE CHIEF JUSTICE, MR ERNEST SAKALA,
THE HONOURABLE SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY,
    MR AMUSAA MWANANAMWAMBA,
    HONOURABLE CABINET MINI

  64. HONOURABLE CABINET MINISTERS PRESENT,
    THE SERVICE CHIEFS,
YOUR EXCELLENCIES THE AMBASSADORS AND HIGH COMMISSIONERS ACCREDITED TO THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA,
    DEPUTY MINISTERS,
YOUR WORSHIP THE MAYOR OF LUSAKA
    LEADERS OF POLITICAL
    THE MEMBERS OF THE CLERGY
    INVITED GUESTS
    LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

FIRST, WE WANT TO EXPRESS OUR HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE FIRST LADY AND THE BEREAVED FAMILY. FROM THE TIME OF OUR PRESIDENTS ILLNESS WE HAVE NOT CEASED TO MAKE MENTION OF YOU IN OUR PRAYERS. BE ASSURED THAT EVEN IN THIS TIME OF DEEP LOSS WE WILL CONTINUE TO UPHOLD YOU WITH ALL THE SPIRITUAL SUPPPORT NECESSARY.

ON SUCH SOLEMN OCCASSIONS, THE WORD OF GOD PROVES TO BE A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION T

  65. TO US ALL.THE PASSAGE WE HAVE HEARD TODAY CONTAINS THE CHARGE THAT KING DAVID GAVE TO HIS SON SOLOMON TO WHOM HE WAS HANDING THE PATTERN FOR BUILDING THE TEMPLE. IN THIS PASSAGE WE CAN SEE SOME OF THE DECIDING FACTORS WHICH MADE KING DAVID WHAT HE WAS AND WHICH CAN MAKE US IN ZAMBIA WHAT GOD WANTS US TO BE.

LIKE KING DAVID, OUR LATE PRESIDENT HAD INTENTIONS. DAVID WANTED TO BUILD GOD A TEMPLE WHILST OUR PRESIDENT WANTED TO BUILD A PROSPEROUS COUNTRY WHERE THE RULE OF LAW WOULD PREVAIL, WITHOUT CORRUPTION AND WHERE RECONCILIATION, DIALOGUE, SELF SACRIFICE AND HARD WORK WOULD BE THE ORDER OF THE DAY. JUST AS GOD DID NOT ALLOW DAVID TO COMPLETE HIS PLANS, HE SAID NO TO OUR PRESIDENT. GOD HAS

  66. GOD HAS NOT ALLOWED HIM TO FINISH HIS PROGRAMME. NO ONE KNOWS THE REASON WHY. GOD DOES NOT ALWAYS REVEAL HIS DOINGS NOR IS HE OBLIGED TO DO SO, BUT ONE DAY IN THE FUTURE HE WILL GIVE US UNDERSTANDING. WE HAVE THEREFORE, NO OPTION BUT TO ACCEPT HIS DECISION.

YOUR HONOUR, JUST AS KING DAVID HAD A PATTERN FOR GODS TEMPLE, PRESIDENT MWANAWASA’S INTENTIONS WERE BASED ON A PATTERN. WHEN HE STARTED OFF AS PRESIDENT, WE MUST ADMIT THAT WE DOUBTED WHERE HE WAS TAKING US. BUT HE KNEW WHICH WAY TO GO AND TODAY HE HAS LEFT A LEGACY BECAUSE HE HAD A PATTERN TO FOLLOW. I BELIEVE HE MUST HAVE SHOWN THIS PATTERN TO SOMEONE. SOMEONE STANDING HERE KNOWS THE PATTERN AND MUST BE AVAILABLE TO PASS IT ON BEHA

  67. BEHALF OF THE PRESIDENT.

APART FROM HAVING INTENTIONS BASED ON A PATTERN, KING DAVID COLLECTED RESOURCES FOR THE BUILDING OF THE TEMPLE. HE HANDED OVER TO HIS SON HUGE AMOUNTS OF PRECIOUS STONES AND METALS WITH WHICH TO BUILD. PRESIDENT MWANAWASA LIKEWISE SPENT MUCH OF HIS TIME GATHERING WHATEVER RESOURCES THIS COUNTRY NEEDED TO BUILD ON. THESE RESOURCES ARE READILY AVAILABLE TO US TODAY.

WHO THEREFORE WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SECURING THESE RESOURCES THAT HE LEFT AND ENSURING THAT THEY ARE APPLIED ACCORDING TO THE PURPOSE INTENDED? THERE IS NO NEED FOR US TO WORRY OR HAVE UNDUE CONCERN. JUST AS DAVID HAD A SON, GOD HAS AN ORDAINED SUCCESSOR FOR PRESIDENT MWANAWASA.

    OUT OF YOU

  68. OUT OF YOU, THE POLITICAL LEADERS STANDING HERE, IS ONE WHO WILL SUCCEED THE PRESIDENT. WHOEVER YOU ARE, BE ASSURED OF GODS SUPPORT… “IF”. IF ONLY YOU SHALL BE CONSTANT TO DO HIS JUDGEMENTS AND TO KEEP HIS STATUTES. KNOW THE GOD OF LEVY PATRICK MWANAWASA. DO NOT GO AFTER STRANGE GODS OR SEEK THEIR SPIRITUAL SUPPORT. PRESIDENT MWANAWASA WAS A PROFESSING CHRISTIAN AND GOD UPHELD HIM WITH HIS RIGHT HAND. IF YOU WILL HAVE THE INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA AND THEIR FUTURE GENERATIONS AT HEART, GOD WILL UPHOLD YOU TOO.

PRESIDENT MWANAWASA HAS HANDED ON A TORCH TO ALL THOSE WHO ASPIRE TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY. THE ASPIRANTS WILL BE MANY, BUT THE QUESTION IS,”WHO AMONGST YOU IS ABLE FOR THE TASK

  69. ,”WHO AMONGST YOU IS ABLE FOR THE TASK”? ARE YOU ABLE TO BUILD UPON THIS FOUNDATION HE HAS LEFT OR WILL YOU RUIN IT OUT OF SELFISH AMBITION AND CONCEIT?

IN VIEW OF ALL THIS WE MUST CONTINUE TO PRAY THAT GOD WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE US PEACE. HE MUST GIVE WISDOM TO OUR LEADERS AND COMFORT THOSE WHO MOURN SO THAT THE LEGACY LEFT BY OUR PRESIDENT WILL BE A FOUNDATION THAT OUR FUTURE LEADERS WILL BUILD ON FOR THE GOOD OF OUR DESCENDANTS.

    LET US PRAY

  79. Well Done LT, You rock… you are doing a great job
at last we can see something. we ve read alot but now we have a picture Big up LT…

  81. Please visit this site and hear what Mugabe said about our late President. NewZimbabwe.com forum or type Weekly Observer Kampala Mugabe. I am suprised he even has the courage to come and pay his last “respect”. Rest well Mr. President. We will forever mourn you.

  82. Please visit this site and hear what Mugabe said about our late President. NewZimbabwe.com forum or type Weekly Observer Kampala Mugabe. I am suprised he even has the courage to come and pay his last “respect”. Rest well Mr. President. We will forever mourn you.

  83. Thanks LT, we are at least able to follow on our Dear President but please cover the burial extensively..Zambian in Kenya

  84. #13, ROADS WOULD VE BEEN OK WITH CONCRETE BRICKS IN THE MIDDLE WHERE YOU CAN SEE DUST. BUT AS AFRICANS, WE ARE WAITING FOR A WHITEMAN TO COME AND PUT CONCRETE BRICKS OR SLABS BECAUSE FOR US ITS ROCKET SCIENCE.

  85. #48 Mildred, niwebo utekanye. Sata is a fighter 4 the pipo. In any case after genuinely reconciling with levy he honestly wanted to mourn the man who served him from demise. Anyone can do that. Even I can do that-following the funeral whereever it is being paraded. One thing pipo do not understand is that Sata almost died. Icikalipa cumfwa umwine-so Sata felt or smelled death. Thats why he quickly came back to reconcile with Levy even overruling his vise’s (Dr Guy Scott) prior utterances.

  86. #123 Zambia saw corruption at its best under the noses of levy. He stood against it. But he was like a toothless bull dog. We cant’t talk of nepotism.

  87. Thank you LT for making it posible for the whole world to witness and share this tragic moment with us.
    Levy, rest in Peace.

  88. Thanx LT, finally I feel releaved after seing the pictures of the funeral procession and ofcourse as a true Zambian woman, after shedding a tear. No 112, its hard to be anywhere on earth, the only safe place is heavens, as long as u are still breathing, suffering is the word, whether rich or poor, if anything most rich people have no sleep, so watever SUFFERING means to u, u need to research and the bible would be one of of ur best search tools or maybe ur movements around the world are restricted due to circumstances beyond ur control?

  89. Oh well… thanks for fotos,…. but for those of us who saw it live… twas even more touching…. come back home guys… lets take this country fwd together… so u dont have to watch from the stand

  90. IT TOOK SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME TO ORGANIZE SUCH A ‘BIG AND WELL ORGANIZED’ FUNERAL….19TH AUGUST-3RD SEPTEMBER? HMMMM!

  91. Now Ba LT.BRING us the burial pictures/images, we want to see LPM in the coffin. please don,t let us down now, you have alreay done a marvelous job sending us the funeral procession. plse we r begging you, down on our knees.

  92. Its been a solemn moment for us here in zambia but LEVY will be honoured and remembered if the next kateka will follow his foot steps. As a journalist, my take is that LEVY championed Press Freedom which saw the birth of many private radio and tv stations.
