Share

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) on the Copperbelt has pledged to support Party President Edith Nawakwi if she declares her Candidature for the forth coming Presidential bye-election.

FDD Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary Reuben Mbunda said, the party on the Copperbelt will support Ms. Nawakwi if she contests the Presidential bye- election, following the death of President Mwanawasa.

Mr. Mbunda in a statement to ZANIS today, Mr. Mbunda said, the decision to support Ms. Nawakwi was arrived at during a meeting held in Kitwe yesterday.

He appealed to the entire FDD Leadership on the Copperbelt to start mobilising party members in readiness for the bye-election.

  1. Nawakwi went underground and now she has resurfaced after the death of levy.Dont trust her. she will do the same after you put her in state house

  2. Please stop deceiving Nawakwi! The lady stands no chance at all and she knows it big time. My advise to her is not to listen to these hungry lions who simply want to milk the little she has.

  3. Does this party exist? i thought i died a long time ago when lt christone Tembo was heading it.Who anointed her for party presidency shame,shame.join the mega organised parties like mmd,pf,upnd.aalaiye

  4. Can someone correctly advise this lady. She’s just wasting her time, resources and energy. Right now it can only be MMD or PF.

  5. Unfortunatley for miss Nawakwi this election is a Two horse race and she has no chance of winning so she might as well throw her support behind either pf or undp candidates.

    Long live democracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Thats the problem with opposition, some of them knows very well that they are unpopular but they still go ahead and divide the little votes among themselves giving room to the ruling party to win!

  7. Edith lekeleniko ba Chifumu Banda please.People still think you are some kind of husband snacther.when i last visited zambia i saw some wrinting on the show grouds wall ( lock your husbands Nawakwi is out ) now how ill people respect you?

  8. I am sorry dear lady. People will just milk you out of the little you have. At the moment you better stay away and channel your resources to other developmental issues. Rally behind the big wigs.

  9. SHE SHOULD FIRST KNOW HOW TO GET MARRIED AND THEN ASPIRE FOR PRESIDO.

    By the way have she been cleared on the carlington Maize deal?Oh know

    What a bunch of recycled politicians we have in Zambia.

  10. Come on. Continue to sleep Nawakwi we dont want dead wood. You are beyong gestation. Any how, I am told that Mwnawasa left his wish of who to succeed. Come on guys, Zamia is not an ESTATE where we should be told about wills. No way can Moreen become an administrator.

  11. Democracy is redefining itself in Zambia by self cleansing of the number of political parties.We do not need to pass a law to limit the number of political parties such as FDD. It is not about contesting on any political party when you and your relatives become broke, but your political ideology to solve the country’s problems. Are you consistent like PF and MMD? members should also be consistent and wait with their leaders for wind to blow in their direction like the Democrats in America and PF in Zambia. The Conservatives are also about to take it in UK.Thats democracy.

    Indeed the wind is blowing in the direction of PF especially that the Post Newspaper will not cover King Cobra.

  12. This woman has got wrong advisers who are busy organisig nothing but earn some money from her, everyone knows that nawakwi is not going anywhere, better for her to start a charity organisation than wasting money.

  13. Please aunt Edith do not succumb to the vulture’s call. They just want to milk all your tu mahafu.You know it you can’t win. Stay away from these evil guys.

  14. To everyone commenting on this story..please note that Ms Nawakwi HASN’T actually said she will stand for President (at least at the moment).

    FDD on the Copperbelt is saying they will support her IF she decides to contest the Presidential by-election.

    Please read the story CAREFULLY before making comments that bring the lady down.

  15. Truth b told mmd is retaining the presidency RB or whoeva.i mean hav u guys seen any significant change in the opposition of 2006 n now?level headedness actually say theyv gone down,jus luk at the rduction in the margins pfs mps r winin wit in the bys in lsk lately…?

  16. let Edith rest bane…she needs time her man…too bad you are all sucking her cash and deceiving her.she has no political future..

  17. indeed this is now a circus.ala MMD will win again coz the opposition dont learn lessons.vote splitting in the opposition is what has always kept the ruling party in power. coz the ruling party has never won by over 50% unless in 1991 and 1996. so here we go again lets just have 1 man or 2 please to stand.i would go for a Sata/HH ticket.so ba nawakwi,just put yo weight and support behind sata/HH for now and then look to 2011.apa,mwalachefya ama vote yaba opposition.

  18. FDD again? Why cant the opposition get organised for once. We cant afford to share the few votes again. THINK!!!!

  19. Not Nawakwi, please.No lady should rule Zambia at the moment.We do not have anyone lady who can rule Zambia with this challenges we are going through in all the sectors.

  20. If you are not in pf,mmd and upnd pleaseeeee stay away it’s a waste of time,money and energy.Ba Mbunda spare the lady pleaseeeee

  21. Please spare Edith she has not said anything. She has gone underground may be she is loooking for some one to call husband.FDD Has gone with Christone Tembo.Shame Nawakwi.

  22. FDD is no opposition party and will in no way cause any split of votes especially with Nawakwi at the helm. Her track record isnt good enough…tried to sell her party together with christon tembo to mwanawasa, she had family issue and maybe just a load of other issues that dont make it to the press.

  23. #29
    this should be specific to Nawakwi because you do not want her.
    Mind you, it is not prescribed anywhere that a woman can not rule,come to think of it, who is managing your homes for you to be able to stand up and feel you are man enough.

  24. Edith please what are you trying to do. Just let Ba Sata rule maybe your chance will come in 2011. And again chances will still be high .

  25. IF MUGANDE IS ELECTED AS PRESINDENTIAL CANDIDATE 4 MMD IT MEANS ALL GOVT OFFICES WILL BE HELD BY TONGAS EVEN THOSE GUARDING PLOT 1.I CANT LIE THESE PIPO HAV TOT ME HOW 2 PRACTISE TRAIBALISM.HOW ABT MAKEEN IN USA?SO THE MORE U LIV THE MORE WISDOM U HAV,PABWATO ESOLUTION

  26. RB is sorrounded by job seekers.VJ coming back from retirement,Ask kaunda about RB.CAN Teta advice the nation sure? IF RB is voted in , then vote EITHER sata or HH. The post should tell the young generation who VJ IS so that they know who he is.

  27. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THERE IS A CONSPIRENCY TO SPLIT THE OPPOSITION VOTE AND LET THE RULING MMD CARRY THE DAY. WE MUST ALWAYS LEARN FROM OUR PAST MISTAKES. BESIDES TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROOTH.

    NAWAKWI, THIS IS NOT YOUR TIME AND LIKE OTHERS BEFORE ME HAVE SAID SAVE THE RESOURCES FOR A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT.

  28. Why do i have a feeling that LT is siding with the RB camp.Leave it to the people to choose a good leader in MMD.Someone like Magande who understands both our short and long term.Mourn peacefully bck home

  29. Dem ya politricks remind I of a cartoon series…bugs bunny. Tomorrow it will be Sylvester or Goofy and Mickey Mouse contesting for presidency.

  30. Comrades, are supporting SATA bcoz he’s Bemba/northerner?
    And are we not supporting Magande bcoz he’s Tonga?
    Furthermore, is RB being supported on the basis that he is
    a tribal cousin to Sata.We can also flip it and ask the pipo
    supporting Magande the same question … are they in support bcoz..

    If this is so then we are damn tribalist and God help us!

  31. Copperbelt =15.9%
    Lusaka =15.0%
    Southern =12.8%
    Eastern = 12.7%
    Northern = 11.8%
    Central = 9.7%
    Western = 8.0%
    Luapula = 7.9%
    North-Western = 6.2%
    TOTAL = 3,940,053

  32. This issue of tribalism is mostly raised and practiced by the very people who are tribalists. What makes you think that Tonga’s are the only tribalists, be realistic.

  33. Live Nawakwi alone she has not said she is standing for the presidency. HH FDD PF Sokota please support Sata to State House before it is to let. Look at this M M D has spaces in Between let them fight for the presidency and we should fight for state house instead King Cobra go go go ……………………….

  34. The cost of an election is nearly directly proportional to the number of candidates. Should we really make this by-election that expensive?

  35. #6 & #9, don’t rule out HH…..while MCS was busy fighting with his renegade MPs, HH was visitig markets, compounds and talking a lot of sense on radios…..RB needs to sell himself within two months and justify why he never stopped the infamous bill for salary increments, Sata does not command the same support on CB and Lsk, especially with the turn around of the economy…….You might be surprised, pleasantly so if I might add, when a young, intelligent, articulate, healthy and progressive leader is sworn in on a rainy day in November….HH for progress, no family tree, no tribalism, no corruption, no incompetent leaders like Mpombo, Teta, Mulongoti, Chibombamilimo…Zambia Forward!!

  36. IMWE IT’S FREE 4 ALL, COME ON CAN SOME1 TELL THIS LADY, U DON’T JUST WAKE UP 1 DAY FROM A LONG SLEEP & THINK YOU CAN BE PRESIDENT!!! BA NAWAKWI MUZASEBANA DON’T DARE STAND!!

  37. FDD welcome back!long time opss u have shown urself wen the big man has left
    shame on u.Ba mayo ba Nawakwi just go and do ur farming instead of dreaming2become our president2 be realistic Zambians are not ready4a woman president.friendly advise u wil just waste your money,so pliz just donate that money2tha orphanages and u stand a chance of winnig in 2011

  38. Our democratic constitution guarantees every Zambian the freedom do as the lady has done, where’s the problem? If you don’t want her to rule over you, simply make your choice in the ballot box.
    When Angela Merkel was first nominated for German chancellor, more than 70% of the Germans said she didn’t stand a chance. Today, she is the most powerful female leader in the world!

  39. Nawakwi is OK.
    She is exercising her democratic right as a citizen.
    At least she is not trying to userhand methods like some candidates who are being support by a newspaper (the POST).
    I thought the POSt was credible until I begun to see, there weaknesses; surely even when it is so clear that they are desparate, they are not ashamed.
    It is eaither they are not psychological enough, or their sense of consious has been vandalised if they had it.
    I would recommend that, in case Masebo forms a consultancy firm for weakness reduction, they should hire her for her rare skills.
    Otherwise, it is a total shame.

  40. #55, I think it is wrong for you to use abussive language.
    Let us simply show that we can analyse and think through issues.
    Not portaying to the world that our thinking capacity has terminated, by insulting in this blog.
    I believe you are capable of being rational, unless you prove to me that you are completely unable to think though issues by insulting.
    Let us share rational ideals. No body can fully convince that INSULT is there only idea, unless under exceptional medical cases.

  41. # 57, Try to analyse issues well. You are the same people hindering development in our nation by doing wrong things at the right time. Why should Nawakwi waste her time of standing? Even when comparing with other presidents in other countries who had no support, A.M of Germany’s situation can’t be compared to Nawakwi. She has been quite in National issues and is it not the responsibility of the opposition to give checks and balances. Let her join another candidate as she thinks of her way forward.

    At last you even wonder why some people continue supporting people who are not even worth it at that particular time. NO SENSE!

  42. #53-Uwakwisano, Kindly tell us how well you know HH. you do know much about him. If only he can confied in you and tell you about his dark side. So shut up!! Don’t attribute all the those qualities to him he doesn’t deserve them. Interms of educaion is learned. Do your research well. As a matter of fact he’s not an angel.

  43. Believe you me, have nothing against HH. His got his past, am afraid he would not represent my interests fully.

    Think through this;
    Sata proposed that a Medical board be constituted to ascertain LPM’s condition, if he can continue discharge his duties.
    HH shoots it down as a premature decision so that he appears to be the noble one. I an not suprised that he has alot of following.

  44. All candidates can offer leadership, it’s a question of what leadership can they offer.
    Unfortunately some can offer leadership of Mugabe.
    Imagine what SATA wants, a world made of only three countries: Zambia, Taiwan and Zimbabwe.
    What a narrow international policy!

  45. Dont worry Zabian#65 63 Cont…

    Where has it left us, LPM is not with us anymore.

    Because we are human, it’s not every time that will give a constructive criticism. We might era sometime. In this case my friend HH was wrong; things were bad to wait any longer.

    Please as we go to vote, let us ask ourselves these questions;

    Will this Leader hear my cry?
    Am I voting for the Leader because his rich?
    Is this Leader a people person?
    Am voting for this leader because he is well learned?

    Zambian #65
    Please note that, Performance is an attribute of one’s personal belief and not a fat educational back ground. Someone might be well educated but is a non performer.

    Be wise when vo

  46. My last sentence should read as followed;
    Be wise when voting. Wisdom is one of the greatest gifts you can ever get in a leader if we were to progress as a country.

    Love you all Zambians. I love you idealogies. But let us cut out the insults. it’s embrassing.

    Keep it up LT. You make my days great.

  47. Magande for President. Let us have someone serious. Edith, just concentrate on what you do best. State House is not the place for it.

  48. 67 thru 68 .Ok i have now got the sense of what you are trying to say but even then your arguments when analysed from a critical mind they tend to be delegitimised and can detract a reader.Remember Mwanawasa came to power already sick or i stand to corrected but at least that issue was a hot one during the 2001 elections if you can recollect well. The Sata theory or whatever it is in this case in my view is neither here nor there.It was like another assumptions people were making during the illness of our President. MHRIP

  49. #36 watch the space, whilst you continue deluding urself that its only Sata who can win, u will be shocked. HH has not been lazing around from 2006, he has been far and across the country campaigning, this is a fact sata acknowledged during the last joint rally. therefore, its RB, Sata or HH in this election. watch the Space.

  50. Indeed you’re right Zambian on #70. it was an hot issue, though in 2006 General election it wasn’t so much an issue because we took it for granted that indeed he was to finish his second term in office. Sadly our assurances failed us. MHSRIP

    Life 4 for Sata will surely be boring, after losing a new found friend so soon.

    Thanx Zambian, I apreciate your comments

  51. She is in UPND. her radio station is always shooting at the MMD goverment (SKY FM) I wonder if Mulongoti has tuned in to just hear what this chaps talk about. Some of it amounts to tresion. Down with her!

  52. #72 right on my dear. Some people will wake up to a rude shock. Don’t take HH’s silence for grunted. Wina azalila. Go HH go go. The boat is half sunken already.

  53. FDD ikaliko mwati? I agree with the bloggers who refuse write off HH but he must do much more to convince us (the rest of Zambia other than The South and West)that he believes in One Zambia One Nation.

  54. #78 what more do you want him to do?? Undress for you thats when you will believe?? Have you ever heard HH make a tribal remark?? this is being so stereotyped. Shame one you. Sata has made seriously tribal remarks and you are not putting him on the chopping board. HH is coming better learn to accept him or you will die of heart attack.
    #79 I also believe the two are the only objective and focused we have whether people accept it or not. Deep down each one knows in their heart but for tribal inclinations, they utter all sorts of unprintables. Sorry bane hard luck. The two are the best whether they go to statehouse or not, the truth will stand.

  55. This is politics for you. Nawakwi has been sponsored by the MMD to stand so that opposition party votes can be split.

    How the hell else can someone explain a situation where an almost politically non-existant woman surfaces to contest a presidential by-election from nowhere?

    Infact, i would suggest that all those political parties that partially die after an election should be deregestered. Otherwise, someone will be standing on Chama chakomboka’s political party.

  56. Nawakwi only survived the Chiluba probe because she owned up and became a state witness. She stands no chance her character is tainted. She can only make come back through political manoeuvring not direct election. SORRY.

  57. FDDs are jokers, can nawakwi please save the little she has other than spending it all when she knows very well that she can never rule.

  58. I really get surprised by zambians. sata had a heart attack recently. he needed by-pass surgery to resuscitate. do you raelise what risk he has with this job he is applying for? you people you want us to have another state funeral? Sad is old with previous heart attack. it puts him at high risk for another heart attack and death. we need to learn from the past but it seems we cant. any way good luck with him
