Zambia Under-20 today drew 1-1 with Zanaco in a training game  in Lusaka.

The training game was Oswald Mutapa’s teams first warm-up match as the team prepares for their 2009 Rwanda Caf Africa Youth Cup 2nd round, 1st leg qualifier against Egypt away on September 26.

Zanaco took the lead through Kalaba Chikwanda  before Power Dynamos striker Daniel Kasongo equalized courtesy of an assist by Forest Rangers forward Alex Mwiche.

Meanwhile, Mutapa after the game trimmed the squad from 28 to 18  that included two standby players who included forgotten youth star striker Yorum Mwila of Zanaco although the full team list was not immediately available.

Emmanuel Mayuka’s absence from the team while he is attending trials at Israel club Maccabi Haifa has led to two players being put on standby.

The team leaves for Cairo this coming Tuesday ahead of next Fridays 1st leg match against Egypt.

  1. The preparations have not been adequate this time around, remember that the Egyptian are leaving no stone unturned. The trip which was cancelled to Australia would have been the best to make the lads ready for battle. Any way no need to cry over split milk, let the technical bench work on the coordination of the team. Team work is the only strategie which will help us qualify. i wish the boys all the best as we go to defeat the Egyptians in their own back yard. Twalileka ukulusa talala wemwana. GO ZAMBIA GO.
