CB MMD Youths want Maureen incorporated

MMD Copperbelt youths say they are consulting with the first family on the possibilities of having former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa to be incorporated in the Rupiah Banda campaign team.

MMD Provincial Youth Chairman Richard Mofya told ZANIS Ndola in an interview Tuesday that the MMD youths in the province had resolved to consult the first family on having Mrs Mwanawasa incorporated into the Acting President Banda team to on the Copperbelt be launched in Kitwe next week.

“We are consulting with the first family, we want to incorporate the first lady Mrs Mwanawasa in our campaign team, in fact we would like her to come for the launch in Kitwe next week,” he said.

Mr Mofya said the youths wanted Mrs Mwanawasa to give them guidance, as she was a person with a genuine compassion for them and that she carried a vision for them.

He said since the opposition political parties were campaigning on lines that they would continue from where Dr Mwanawasa had left from it was important for the MMD to incorporate her in their campaign teams as one of the campaign directors.

Mr Mofya said Mrs Mwanawasa was the closest person to the President and as such she knew very well his vision for the country.

Mrs Mwanawasa is a founder of the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative, an initiative aimed at alleviating the suffering and poverty levels amongst the vulnerable people in various communities’ countrywide.

Its a taboo for a mourning widow to start going on political stages making political speeches hardly 3 months of a dear husband’s demise.These kids are unafrican, insensitive and immature.they need some social and spiritual counselors.They don’t understand the pain of lossing a father and husband.MMD does not need to shoulder that taboo to win elections.We have internal capacity to launch a winning campaign. A leader should never be emotional when facing ridicule. Winston Churchil is considered one of the century’s best orators, but check out his speeches…an emotional person in debate with him would definitely lose coz the man always spoke hard hitting riddles and riddicules. If some one says Maureen is not suitable for anything in the current campaign.   46. When Maureen opened her mouth to give a view of Levy’s wish on who was to succeed him c/belt cadres were reported to have demostrated against Maureen in support of RB’s candidature. MMD has to accept that RB was a bad choice and Maureen’s addition to the campaign will not change things. Also there is no way Maureen can stand for something that her husband fought all his life ie corruption. Joining RB campaign will be fighting what Levy stood for as RB has embraced all the plunderers that Levy was fighting.   116. Ladies & Gentlemen, I think that Mrs Moreen Mwanawasa needs to rest and look at the way forward for the family, i.e. children and other family matters. Let them not involve her in this aspect of life at the moment. Instead those youths need to advise their fellow youths in PF to advise their leader, Mr M.C. Sata to form a PACT with Muliokela, since it appears that Sata may be looking for a PACT. Muliokela just stated that he will stand for presidency, so b4 he files his nomination, let Sata try and ask this man, Muliokela concerning a pact; he may just agree you know. And since they are all campaigning based on ‘The Poor’ I think they can work together.
