Share

A thunderous welcome awaits Acting President Rupiah Banda’s arrival in Kabompo on Sunday.

Kabompo District Commissioner Rabbeca Mukuka confirmed to ZANIS in kabompo that Mr.Banda would Sunday address a rally at Manyinga grounds near Senior Chief Sikufele’s palace at 09:00 hours.

A check by ZANIS Thursday morning scores of villagers at Maninga chanting slogans in solidarity of Mr Banda whom they said he was following in the footstep of the late president Dr. Levy Mwanawasa in developing North western province.

And All is set for this year’s Likumbi Lya Mize traditional ceremony of the Luvale people of Senior Chief Ndungu in Zambezi District, which will be graced by the Acting President Rupiah Banda.

Likumbi Lya Mize National Chairman James Njolomba, confirmed to ZANIS that all the preparations at the main arena have been completed and that every one was geared for the ceremony, where traditional dances such as Kachacha, Mwakolo and Chiyandawhich will be performed.

Mr. Njolomba further stated that, during the same occasion, the Likumbi Lya Mize cultural association would launch the Makishi masquerade, a UNESCO funded project in Makishi and Mukanda.

Mr. Njolombo pointed out that the Likumbi Lya Mize annual traditional ceremony is an occasion during which revelers are accorded a chance to see Senior Ndungu in the open.

Yesterday, business at the trading center came to a virtual stand still as the Makishi procession matched through the township, attracting many on-lookers.

The famous Lenganavo Likishi dancer stole the show when he performed a pole dance (acrobatic) on top of two poles placed in the middle of the Zambezi River, to the amazement of the onlookers.

The Makishi dance will go on from today up to Saturday.

  1. Please distribute packets of sugar and brown envelopes with money to make sure it is a thunderous occasion bwana district commisioner.

  2. Mr “Ten Percent” as he was known under UNIP.Bad habits die hard….The brown enevelop is noraml to thee…

  3. Yes they will be there in huge numbers coz they want sugar.

what a cheap politician called RB. amano yamu UNIP fuuuuluu muchipuma.

  4. The headline should read “Thunder and Lightning awaits Rupiah if he doesn’t properly explain the K15 million Kwacha issue!”.

  5. Villagers are expected to turn up in numbers, but what do they know about the economy, job creation and development of competencies in manufacturing that will make Zambia untouchable – nothing!!

  6. Yet these are the Zambians that determine where the vote goes & RB knows it, that’s why he takes advantage of them with sugar. Shameful backward and cheap politics from the so-called “acting president” – ONLY IN AFRICA

  7. To all my Luvale subjects. Happy Likumbi Lya Mize!! Don’t forget to come and pay homage at the muleneng’i in Lealui afterwards!!!!

  8. Viva RB, he is the next President because he knows that Lusaka and copperbelt is not Zambia, the opposition will pay for this by losing the elections and they should not come and start complaining of rigging.

  9. WE SHALL INDEED GIVE A ROYAL RECEPTION MR ACTING PRESIDENT AS COME TO THE POWER HOUSE OF THE ZAMBIAN ECONOMY .THOUGH WE ARE CALLED VILLAGERS WE KING MAKERS ASK SATANA WE WILL TELL YOU.HE WILL FALL AGAIN AS HE DID IN 2006

  10. The same villagers will afterwards come to ask for cash for fertiliser from me so let villagers farm & us in town vote cause we understand politics better,

  11. Was in North Western two days ago,MMD & RB are in trouble there. They really have to work hard there because HH & UPND have sunk there roots deep enough to turn the tables upside down on 30th Oct.

  12. I truly find it amazing that people like #24, still preserve villagish reasoning even after going to school. #24 you can’t call someone by his original name unless you colour it with dry tribalism. I find it so difficulty to understand the point of going to school if one still reasons like you, whoever you support it does not matter but what matters is how you treat and perceive those you don’t support. What makes you think all those who support the person you call ichilema are all tongas, and those who support sata all from different groupings of the society? It is after a civil war that people like you will appreciate other people from tirbes.

  13. Sorry: you will appreciate people from other tribes. Kaunda should be given credit for one Zambia one Nation. And he really practiced it! This could be a better reason why others talk of supporting someone with a foreign root to be president.

  14. It’s just amazing how things have evolved. Can you believe how people behave these days. Last Sunday in our church, the guy who was sitting in front of me just lit the cigarette in the presence of everybody, imagine guys… right inside the church in the middle of the sermon… Haai bo! I was so shocked that I nearly dropped my savannah.

  15. people are waiting for more sugar from rb noworder they are in numbers, please banda dont dissapoint us we are waiting for sugar from you just like you did in katete,no trybalism we also want sugar.

  16. Well, I think some of our problems will be solved if we educate our minds. Actually this education should start from our “leaders”.
We as Afrikans should learn to be self-confident. We have a lot of potentials, but do not know how to make use of them.We should learn to cooperate amongst ourselves. We need leaders who are cognisant of the Afrikan worth. Leaders who can teach the population, people who can lead a nation and not ambassodors of Europe and the Americas. We need Afrikan Nationalist (Pan Afrikanist).

  17. What we need in Africa to attain this level of self-sufficiency is a clean and fair political atmosphere. Africa has all the potentials except politics-wise. We have the economist, engineers, the scientists,… but politically we are not free. How many Afrikan scientists and engineers are in the diaspora? How many of them are willing to go back home as soon as there atmosphere is conducive? There are more than 3000 Afrikan engineers in Germany alone, countless are those in the UK, France and the Amerikas, toiling and wasting their expertise for the wrong person.

  18. on a serious note. i did not know that chibesa of the glorious band had past. see dedication by his colleagues here: w(x3)youtube.com/watch?v=BqAzpvDLpoU&feature=related

sad!!!!!!! could not help a bucket flow of ma tears………..

  19. What thunderous welcome?…Actually people in Kabompo await “THE FREE DISTRIBUTION OF BROWN ENVELOPES”…ala ni sangwapo !!!

  20. Sometimes in times like these, I wonder what role the Anti-Corruption plays! Maybe they have all gone on Annual Leave. Please wake up; there is a job for you to do. Do not turn a blind eye to what the Zambians are saying regarding the electoral. It may be too late to investigate when the person is in plot #1.

  21. I feel pity for you political supporters. It seems you have so much faith in your so called saviours. Wait untill they go to state house then you have a rude shock-you losers. Wake up havent you had enough lies? Ask FTJ, Levy disapointed him, your so called redeemers will also be looking at thier own friends and relatives. They are not going there for you but their own pockets and power. Shibukeni bangwele!

  22. In Zambia we never learn and easily forget hence politicians always take advantage of us. Surely how can people be bought with sugar in exchange for a vote? These people do not have your needs at heart, they are just selfish people trying to reap where they have not even sown anything. Its a shame to see how these sugar daddies cheat people! Its high time electorates where Educated because they know very little and just vote blindly so long they are promised a packet of sugar or mealie meal. Wake up Zambia!

  23. What is Rupiah’s unique message for campaign? What is it that he can tell me as a voter not to vote for Sata/HH and now Miyanda that he will do, atleast even Motlanthe was unique enough to inspire people like me that he was a person who new he was doing.

  24. I THINK ONLY GRADE 12(“o” levels)GRADUATES AND ABOVE SHOULD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO VOTE. MAYBE THEN SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL WOULD COME OUT OF THE WHOLE THING……

  25. And what is this I hear that Sata walked out of the PF/UPND pact meeting that Kaunda was trying to broker yesterday, though I do not think KK is the right man to have done so knowing fully well that he supports HH

  26. #42 Right on!! We all know who the big man wants. So they should not call it a pact, but rather a takeover! Sata survived one by walking out. Whatever makes people want HH when he came out 3rd!!! I would never give way to one who lost to me to lead on! Bad idea, would be a good idea if HH didn’t even stand or openly support RB as he is indirectly doing that by spliting the votes!

  27. #43 ACC is now bought thats why RB rushed there after that 15million claim. Not sure if it was sugar or brown envelope ACC got, but they should have done something

  28. It is rather surprising, actually I sympathise with UPND but I think this is not the right way to do it, anyhow, I know KK endorses HH whatever he sees in there but possibly he sees this youthful man who he thinks could do a good job given that KK started ruling Zambia around the same age.

  29. RB NYAMA SOOYAA…NI MABVUTO CHABE…ZIKO III.. ZAMBIA,PROBLEMS BABAA…WELL ITS UP TO US SUFFERAS.BUT PLS VOTERS SURE WE GO THROUGH THIS PROBLEMS.THINK AS WE VOTE BEFORE WE CRY ALOT.

  30. TIFUNA MUFANA HH.TI VOTELE HH TO STATEHOUSE.VIVA HH VOTE HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  31. Why does RB rash to ACC after the K15 million scadal. He even goes on to say Your jobs will be secured under my leadership. I even wonder if this is what he calls Levy’s Legacy. Shame on you Ba Banda. Remember the Almight God’s eyes are watching. the guilty ones are always afraid.

  32. Did You Know???
“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionable integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.”

    [Dwight Eisenhower]

  33. if he does not give you sugar vote for miyanda, so that they can split the votes with HH. i know imwe tu Congolese you want MMD, the party that promised to TAR mutanda kasempa road when i was just 15 years, now am 44 think of that? Mambo enu dnt say you where not told. those mines wnt be there forever my country men, think 2 moro not today.

  34. I think it is very immoral for politicians to be buying votes. The fight against corruption is simply lip service to some going by the latest revelations. I think RB has taken a very wrong twist by first of all surrounding himself with those politicians of every dirty colour. How about “seeing them by the type of their companions”. Could this ring a bell……..perhaps.

  35. Munyaule anvelemushe iwe! Economy nipa lobe. Anti-Corruption Commission. Haven’t you heard of the brown envelopes flying around or they are just rumurs. When are you going to act? Is this what is called govt machinery?

  36. Please spare us from all these liers, read todays Times,RB is denying giving money and just below the outspoken Mulongoti says it was a donation!!Cosmo Mumba yesterday denied having recieved money from RB,what is the truth here, corruption even before we cast votes, please guys lets vote wisely, thats why am for Sata because people like Mulongoti,Shakafuswas and now na Ba Mwanga is bounced back because he wants a free body guard and plenty brown envelops, please lets open our eyes

  37. Pliz leave RB alone, so far he is the candidate excercising politics of maturity.Let MMD continual being in power to finish mining projects in northwestern pronvince.HH we reserve u for 2011 elections.Sata will neva rule zambia. He has no credibilities, full of vague language.

  38. People please vote wisely, I was thinking of giving RB my vote but now i have changed my mind from what i can hear and see,he is also Corrupt,
Ba Cosmo just starting politics na corruption sure, why was the K15M not publictly donated if it was genuine?why in a closed door office?I like Mulongoti for 1 reason,he opens his mouth and tells us the truth our own acting president will not tell us,VIVA opposition, merge and we shall all vote for you.

  39. Pliz leave RB alone, so far he is the only presidential candidate excercising politics of maturity.Let MMD continual being in power to finish mining projects in northwestern province.HH we reserve u for 2011 elections.Sata will neva rule zambia. He has no credibilities, full of vague language.

  40. Dr cosmo could u pliz disclose how you obtained your doctrate.knowing you from kabulonga Boyz i dont think its a geneiun doctorate. He became sick everytime there is an exam.He failed completely when he was at Victory Ministry. He went to congo, may be thats where he bought his doctorate.

  41. I can’t really understand why the so called RB and Ka Mulongoti should be contradicting each other, in yesterday’s papers RB denied having given ‘bribed’ the NRP, but in today’s Times of Zambia Ka Mulongoti is saying that, that was just a donation to NRP. Why didn’t they do the same to PF and UPND? Lets protect former NRP Secretary General James Lukuku otherwise these same guys he has exposed can do anything to eliminate him before he discloses more information. At the moment RP is the worst corrupt creature Zambia has ever had. Lets vote wisely otherwise we will have ourselves to blame for planting BWEZANI.

  42. For North Western we will recieve the sugar and cash, but we are not so cheap like cosmo mumba, come 30th Oct
    Na tu sakula tetekeli
    Mutu sakula tetekeli

  43. Yes, someone will call us villagers because we live in villages and not that we dont think.I hav a degree and safe here making money and life goes on unlike U who has nothing but an NRC and U are there in Kalikiliki whose opposite door is a toilet, chanting slogans that U stay in town and yet U cant even afford pit latrine.Shame on You!

  44. Let SATA and his fellow dreamers keep dreaming!! coz they are campaining in the wrong ares eg/ Matero, city market half of those pple behind him are maketeers and have no voters cards. GO RB!!

  45. #67

Thanks for defending us villagers from these town THUGS. We have a clean environment and organic food and so on and so forth.

    We have the power!

  46. #55 Bakamalondo mwakosama sana. If U ever did some History U dont have to say we from N/w are Congolese. Do U really know something abt the Luba-Lunda migration? U suurprise me very much. In 1991, U were 15 yrs and today 2008 U re already 44, in which planet re U living to see yo yrs run so fast? And whats wrong with not agreeing with U anyway?

  47. No. 71 you are just like Bwezani. You folks can not read the mood in the nation. You even cheat you are kaponyaz! A disciplinarian is coming your way, resign if in government and you are jacket hangers or thievs ( ba kaponya)…you want to discredit SATA? You will fail coz he is an accoplished performer. His technocrats have already told him which economic development points to handle- these can’t leak to you now…wait after 30 October! Mwapya ma lazy bones, tribalists naba pompwe! Pabwato!

  48. ba RB sugar daddy, ku Kabombpo mwalayaba ba nani, “bunga daddy”?How many brown envelopes have you prepared?

  49. #38 and #71 I think it’s just because that’s the official news feed from government controlled media, the Post etc. don’t seem to be supplying their stories to LT (which is a shame)

  50. TITITITITTILILITI NOTHWESTERN PROVINCE MMD 360THOUSAND VOTES UPND 4THOUSAND VOTES SATAN INSOKA KAPONYA 5HUNDRED VOTES.COME OCT 30 NORTHWESTERN NI BA RUPIAH CHABE.NEW CAPITAL CITY FOR ZAMBIA IS NWP NOT LUSAKA FULL OF KAPONYAS AND GONENAS

  51. HH has never held any public office in his life. How then can we measure the possibilty of his success as republican president!!Look at the US- most presidents were either senators or governers before going to White House- why? Experience! HH has none whatsover- good or bad. The choice here should be just between RB and SATA. Miyanda- where has he been hiding all along when Sata was playing the role of Opposition- forget about him; he’s a time waster!
Now RB is a corrupt non-performer and that leaves only SATA to steer this country forward.VIVA PABWATOOOOO!!

  52. offcourse it will be thunderous, wat do u expect when u the sugar daddy is paying for support from people but wat he does not understand is that umuntu muntu, they wont even vote for him..iwe RB send some money also in russia kuma students uku, while u campaign.

  53. #5 I totally agree with you. Indeed what do they know about the critical issues faced by their country? Lack of education is a heavy handicap to our nation.

At least we can access the net and acquire such valuable information but what do they have? Nothing. Just corrupt Chiefs and Headmen.

Educate people in the villages! Teach them the value of their vote!

  54. Zambia needs level headed leadership that Levy left behind. It is good that Miyanda filed yesterday, because PF and UPND greed will be exposed through their selfishness.

Miyanda will share copperbelt with PF and PF numbers will go down and Satan knows it – hence his fury that where was Miyanda all this time.

Lets prepare for swearing in ceremony on 2nd November 2008. Welcome His Excellency Mr R B Banda – Fourth Republican President.
