Weekend Scorecard

The Faz Pemier League this month welcomes back two old stars who return to grace our football fields.

Defender Billy Mwanza and striker Philemon Chipeta both with roots at Lusaka Dynamos all returned to fulltime action in the league in the heat of October.

Chipeta has already featured in four games for Dynamos where he was their key striker from 1999 to 2002 before embarking on a six year professional career in Malaysia.

The striker later had a brief spell at Persib Bandung in neighboring Indonesia this year and has already scored twice in the four games he has featured for Dynamos.

He was also part of the Dynamos team on Saturday when the Queensmead side beat Zanaco 2-1 in the Barclays Cup quarterfinals last Saturday at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Mwanza made his debut in the Barclays Cup for Power at the same venue in their 2-0 win over Kabwe Warriors.

Mwanza has been club-less since his contract with South African club Golden Arrows in May.

The Zambia defender returns to Power for a second stint after playing for the Arthur Davies club from 2002 to 2005 where he attained cult status after leaving Dynamos.

It hasn’t been an easy last five months for Mwanza and is hoping this chance to play again will revive his fortunes.

His inactivity cost even him a place in the starting line-up with Zambia that culminated in his omission from the teams final 2010 World/Africa Cup Group 11 qualifier against Togo on September 10 that Herve Renards side won 1-0.

  2. “Peter asked Vice-President Banda to forgive all those who voted against him”. Why the word ‘FORGIVE’? Not everyone can vote for one candidate. If no people are opposing you, the know there is something wrong with you or the system or both. Please, read the post about the divisions in MMD.

  3. From BBC website (21/10/2008):
