Acting President Rupiah Banda shares a light moment with FDD President Edith Nawakwi at Chama Government guest house before addressing a campaign rally at Chama town centre yesterday.

Acting Republican President, Rupiah Banda has said only the MMD can uplift the Zambian people’s living standards.

Mr. Banda said the people of Zambia have many problems which can only be solved by the party in government.

He said the ruling party had seen that the only way to improve people’s living standards was to encourage them produce more food and that was why the number of beneficiaries of the Fertilizer Support Programme (FSP) has been increased from 125,000 to 200,000 countrywide.

Speaking at a campaign rally held at Masumba in Mambwe today, Mr. Banda said government had made a deliberate policy for Zambians to produce enough food so that they even sold the excess produce to earn money.

We want to encourage you to grow more maize and that is why we have pegged the price of a 50 kilogram bag at K 55,000-00,’’ he said.

And Mr. Banda said agricultural production can only be enhanced if there was a good road network.

He said government would work on the Chipata/Mambwe road which was in a deplorable condition so that farmers could transport their produce to markets.

Mr. Banda observed that the road would be worked on between now and 2011 so that the opposition did not denounce the MMD during the campaigns of the 2011 general elections.

He said funds to work on the road were ready, adding that, in Malambo valley alone, government had allocated K 1.7 billion to rebuild the Luambe/Mwanya road.

Mr. Banda said the Chichele road in the South Luangwa National Park was also receiving K 2 billion, adding that, government would continue to maintain the Luambe/Lundazi to Chama road at a cost of K 33 billion.

And the Acting President has instructed relevant institutions to reduce visa fees to attract tourists to National Parks.

Mr. Banda said government wanted to raise enough money through tourism and it can only do that if more foreign tourists entered the country.

He also called on people in Mambwe to take advantage of the tourists by engaging in agro-businesses to supply lodges with various agricultural products.

Meanwhile, Mr. Banda has challenged parents to ensure they worked hard through agriculture to take their children to school.

He said education of children could be expensive but ignorant was more expensive and parents should find money through agriculture to take their children to school.

Mr. Banda said children were a liability to parents and the nation as a whole if they were not taken to school.

He said government was committed to education so that children from competed with the rest of the world for jobs.

Mr. Banda said government was taking education a priority and it will build 88 new schools by 2011, saying, even colleges would be build so that children attended higher education.

And speaking earlier, United Liberal Party (ULP) President, Sakwiba Sikota, called on the people of Mambwe to vote wisely on October, 30.

Mr. Sikota said only MMD could save people from the problems they were facing.

The rally was also attended by opposition party Presidents, Edith Nawakwi from FDD and UNIP President Tilyenji Kaunda.

  1. A lot has been said about politics, Hey guys tomorrow is Independence day. All the guys in WUHAN city in CHINA we’ll have a ka small party to commemorate our Day. So lets meet together, I hope even other Zedians in the “Diaspora” will do the same

  2. it is only MMD who are in position to do anything for this country. RB you have my support. Investors have already started moving investments from this country, especially the Chinese because of pronouncements of one irresponsible, unknowledgeable presidential candidate. This country is not for experiments but we deserve the best. Go MMD

  3. Y/Day we were cleaning state house in preparation for the Sata family. House nice!!!

RB, please go back to the farm.

  4. MR RB, WHY IS IT THAT YOU ALWAYS SEE PROBLEMS AT THE TIME OF CAMPAIGNS ? IT IS SO SHAMEFUL TO START ARGUING OF MORALITY WITH AN ELDERLY PERSON REGARDING THE WAY ARE VIEWED BY THE SO CALLED POLITCIANS.
PLEASE TRY TO BE PRO-ACTIVE.YOU DON’T NEED TO SEE PROBLEMS YOU PEOPLE ARE FACING WHEN WE ARE ABOUT TO GO TO THE POLLS.

  5. IF IT WAS MAGANDE STANDING ON MMD TICKET YES, NOT THAT SUGAR DADDY. NIPA BWATO FYE MWEBANTU TWAPAPATA PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  6. zambian4 life, most of us have managed to succeed not bcoz of who is at S H but coz of individual hard work en staying focused, if ur waiting manna from these guys. beter review your programmes ASAP.

  7. RB is more honesty than HH and SATA. What RB promisses makes more sense and are more realistic. Miyanda appears to be the most honesty followed RB.

SATA is the most dishonesty followed by HH. Their promises dont tally with what they are and what they do.

The only promiss from SATA which is true is ‘No elections in 2011 if he wins elections’ because this is what he practices even in his party – there are no elections. But I wonder whether if someone else won the election he would still advocate for no election is 2011.

Beware of falsehood, false promisses. The most hit sections of society if SATA won elections would be the same Kaponyas but they are not aware.

  8. #17 (Bobo): It’s only you and RB that think MMD is the only party that can do anything for this country! You will soon cry out loud when you lose following the consequences of you incompetence! Swallow you pride enter Noah’s ship!

  9. Its disappointing to see so much political prostitution. Honestly what can Nawakwi, Tilyenji and Saki bring to the table. Its sad that they are opportunists at the expense of development and will do anything to settle there old scores. RB’s smile will be wiped out once those bugs finish sucking his blood.

    Ine ni pabwato fye…….

  10. The only comparison that can reasonably be made thus far is between MMD and UNIP. All right thinking people know which of the two did better in uplifting lives of zedians in all spheres of life. We now eed a third factor so we can compare better. On the yacht……..!

  11. #17 (Bobo): It’s only you and your RB that think MMD is the only party that can do anything for this country! This country isn’t a one party state, and so abash streamlined and limited thinking zebbigy! You will soon cry out loud in disappointment when you lose following the consequences of your party’s incompetence! Swallow your pride enter Noah’s ship! Viva pabwatttttoooo!!!!

  12. Sata is in Solwezi and believe me the place is hot like fire, mwapya sata aisa. na ba MMD manje they are doubting, check the post.

  13. Edith Nanyakwi,I know your motive: You have come for final conquest, to come and loot government coffers. You are behaving like imbwa iyabindula!! Come on guyz, lets continue paddling way up to plot 1!!!
    Ine ni Pabwato Fye!!!(PF)

  14. Visit Luanshya and see what Sata and his friends decisions without analysis did. Never trust this Man. He could not listen to technical people when he was told the Binani guyz are fake. “Ati baice imwe aba ebakwete ulupiya”. The Post are thieves. Anyone who collects money on someones behalf and does not remit the same is a THIEF and so is the Post. Vote Sata and destroy Zambia. When investors leave it will take anothe 7 years to build their confidence. Sata is a flip-flop and so no investor local or foreign will invest under such leadership! RB may not be the best but demonstrates stability and foright.

  15. RB and Miyanda is more honesty than HH and SATA.

  16. Rupiah Banda. Good plans. They make sense but I think you are moving to fast. I think we need to have an accounting board in govt so they can be showing our leaders a “Balance of Payment”. We cannot afford to keep spending like this. We must cut a bit on spending but your plans seem realistic (I will give you credit for that).

  17. The ‘hour has come’for our colleagues to start parking. They don’t need to be reminded. The Cobra is spitting Fire.

    Ikofi lyamaka,Hikofi lya Nguzu,Kufu Yampanvu!!!!!!!!Mwamukolo

  18. I however caution all those who are supporting Sata. Investors are scared and are thinking of pulling out of the country. This country has received millions if not billions of dollars in investments and we have finally reduced our inflation rates. We cannot afford to have Sata in power. We don’t want to start going back to the days of Chiluba where inflation was at 32% and we where experiencing negative growth.

Vote for anyone but Sata (please I beg you. For your sake and mine).

  19. Thats the trouble with the party in power, when its election time, the are able to recognise the problems Zambian people face, after being voted (17 yrs now), they are all quit. I think I have a problem with a leader that lies to the people that this road, bolehole, fertiliser, and the like are ready just because they are in the area campaigning!
Why dont we have some social contracts on these guys so that we are able to audit trhem as citizens? Sure, after 44 years of independence we deserve a mature political playing ground!

  20. #33 thanks for the constant updates …actually Sata is all over ZED! Viva Solwezi.

Can you imagine: Luanshya Mines kicked out about 200 employees; KCM 500; Mopani 400 employees, and as we blog, Bwana Mkubwa will be laying off about 390 employee. Call anyone you know at Bwana right now if you don’t believe! MMD thinks it still has room for wonders??? Viva Sata!!!

  21. Mr fine, lets be fair and honest with ourselves, what did RB do when he served under Kaunda as compared to what Sata did when he served under Kaunda and Chiluba…Just recently RB was fast asleep when parliament was busy pushing for salary increaments at the expense of poorly paid civil servants..watch this man, as soon as he is elected, if ever he will, he will allow that proposed increament to be taken back to parliament.

The promise that he will continue building on Levy’s foundation is a fallacy for you can already see the people he is sarrounding himself with-crooks and corrupt people who have no interest of this nation at their hearts except for their on bellys.

  22. # 42
Please, I have no words with which I could add to what you have said. Thats the best statement I have read on LT today!!

  23. i feel sorry for this country becoz instead of asking for wisdom from God to give a good leader, we the zambian are busy among ourselves debating on issues which do not help no wonder will always have bad leaders becoz of our atitudes, no one is perfect but lets pray that God gives us a good leader.

  24. I respect SATA as a senior citizen of our country who has contributed greatly to governance of the country since 2006. His critical standpoint helped shape government conduct, a thing which is positive, though of course he told us during his famous recon. that not all he criticised was genuine concern but mere hatred.
Now, SATA, has started making so may empty promisses for the purpose of a vote. He is making U-turns and conter U-turns just to pick a vote. He is even belittling the capacity of lozi chiefs, mistaking them for simple kaponyas who are easily cheated, by promissing them he will attend to ‘barotse agreement’.
Now most scaring, he says no election in 2011. Be careful citizens.

  25. Now MMD is sweet even for Unipists Rupia and William Banda? The only way UNIP can come back to power is through MMD. Its a pity LPM did not foresee this. Even Edith who despised MMD is on the trail. Oh is it the fear of the Carrington Maize gate… That if MIchael gets plot he may resurrect this ghost. If God has planned for MMD to fail it will fail no matter how many people with skletons campain for it. Viva people’s vote

  26. Ine mwandi nanaka naba MMD. government that does not care about people. we need change now. HH was coming up well but now I feel a bit uncomfortable with his policies especially when he talks about salaries for civil servants and 500,000 vouchers for loafers. where is the money going to come from.

  27. You are correct RB. The MMD has done alot for this country. But I want to find out why the Ministry of Agriculture employees have not been paid housing allowance arrears dating back to 2004. Will these employees vote for you next week ? RB make a miracle b4 elections for these poor employees

  28. #45 Jelita you are very right, it had to take people to stand up and say no for him to know that things are not right coz he snoring wen all this talk was on. nyama soya is very sleepy in all his activities, he was photographed sleeping during mwanawasa’s funeral and recently he was photographed sleeping in church.

  29. We are fed up with same empty promises and lies about mambwe chipata road. Even our first president failed to do anything on that road despite experiencing difficulties when visiting his late mother in law at mambwe boma. Just asked for the people’s VOTE in genuine manner dont tell lies SIR.

  30. Try Sata at own peril. Panga politics will be back. My friend was hacked and lost the left side shoe in Chawama running away from Sata’s rath. It was a new shoe and is still keeping the right foot shoe as rememberance. Remember Kulima tower guys, Kadobi and Bobo. Zambia deserves better than Satana wamuyayaya.

  31. #54 RB has been doing some miracles, firstly he reduced fuel prices in provincial centres by almost K2000 wen generally fuel prices had gone down on the world market and then next he Reduced Fertilizer prices by more than 100%, how much more can a miracle worker do. viva Sata, Viva Pabwato

  32. Its HH no matter what you say about him.Come 30th Oct all civil servants, Soldiers and Police Officers lets not make a mistake.Sata hasnst told us how much he will pay us.This is the only chance. Thanks for the messages that your sending through the phone to phone campain for all the Public service workers.Lets defeat the Kaponyas on the Street.Teachers i here the message has reached you also with our brothers at our Universities and colleges

  33. CHANGE is coming people! I have never seen MMD panicking like this before…to an extent of even confessing that RB has slim chances of winning exactly a week before the polls? Even Ephraim Mateyo looks scared. Vavuta vintu imwe! Am sure the riggers are complaining also that RB is too weak a candidate for this election. Like him or hate him SATA is your next President! By the way, candidate with a national face Mr. MC SATA will be in Mwinilunga and Solwezi. VIVA Mwamukoloooooo

  34. Where there is a will there is a way. You are at liberty to ask HH fulfill his promises if he wont make it. For now viva HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  35. I DON’T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SEEN IN ME BECAUSE WHAT EVER I PROMISE I CAN NOT FORFILL AND #36 & 42 THANKS FOR YOUR PRAISES BUT YOU DONT KNOW ME AND MY MOTIVES. MAGANDE WAS A BETTER PLACED MAN TO CONTINUE WITH THE LEGACY OF THE PRESIDENT BUT FOR ME I JUST WANT TO CLIMB THE LADDER THATS ALL. I HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER.

  36. MMD is not at easy becoz they know that they have scored zero interms of fighting poverty, no jobs, no development eg Kafue Roundabout is very dirty shame on mmd. miyanda and sata even if one wins, they were not democratecally elected in their parties so they will face their bad day also, wait and see… God is there watching

  37. #42 are you on earth or somewhere? Which investor will run away from Zambia as long as Copper etc prices are goog? These people don’t care about your so called peace-just go DRC and see for yourself – for them it is a question of making hay while the sun shines. By the way do you think when they first came to this part of the world the drove on Cairo Road. Ask your great granny she will tell how daring the investors can be

  38. For 17 solid years have failed to uplift pipoz lives how possible that u do that in three years?we are not cheap.New Dealers its time to go.RB is from UNIP and there is nothing that u can tell us.u have been a veep for 2 years (second in command) why didn’t u lift pipoz lives.Nawakwi, Sikota,Mumba and Tilyenji where have been all long? we don’t want seasonal politicians who are only seen before elections like EAGLES.New Dealers u cant full the pipo all the time.

  39. YOU PEOPLE WHY CAN’T YOU JUST VOTE FOR RB WHO IS FIT NOT YOUR SO CALLED SATA, DO YOU ENJOY CARRING THE COFIN AROUND ZAMBIA PLEASE BEAR WITH THE SODIERS THEY ARE STILL TIRED, ITS JUST LAST TWO MONTHS WHEN THEY WHERE CARRING THE LATE AROUND THE COUNTRY

  40. #37(Fine),hi first of all,its wrong to make such allegations towards sata, first of all the man has never been corupt the time he was in government.am not PF,Miyanda is not a factor right now,he ruined his own poitical career by being too quiet.
RB may be okay,VERY okay but our wory is the people surrounding him.

  41. Chi Satana chamuyayaya. No style, no quality. No conistency. Even the Taiwanese have abandoned Satana. No agricultural policies, no wonder Satana has no farm. Please not chi Satana.

  42. #44 – So, according to you, Sata will come and tell the investors at Bwana Mkubwa “Imwe, lekeni ukutamfya abantu inchito” and they will obey. Whether the business is profitable or not. Think, please and be realistic. Some lay-offs happen everywhere, whether in developed countries or otherwise. It has nothing to do with the leader in power.
The price of copper is not good, Sata cant change this. If it drops further, even the remaining employees will go no matter what Sata does.
    Vote RB wisely, analyse wisely.

  43. #66. Seen it Before

Compare the scenario today with investors in the MMD era than with Sata. Investors are coming from everywhere. From China, Australia, Japan, India and recently the USA. Mind you not all of them are here for copper. An Indian company made a huge investment in Mazabuka. Have you forgotten.

Under Sata, investor confidence will go down, there will be high inflation, etc. Vote for Sata at your own risk. But remember, this time around, you only have yourself to blame.

  44. To all those who have experienced real peace, the commodity is priceless.
To all the Zambian people who are well informed, lies are very costly.
Let us use our better judgment to select a leader, not those who are parading themselves with cows just for a vote.
what else have they not done?
PF has no programmes(even bad ones), no manifesto for its own party…if you don’t plan you can only be planning to FAIL!
As for Guy Scott, we may have a vacany fo an official clown at State House we may consider him sparingly.
RB is the man up to 2011 HH for the future, he can last!

  45. cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe cwe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pachikasa ameeba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. [cont]

I wonder if you are still going to praise Sata 3 years from now (if he wins) when there will be no elections. I look forward to your posts (Dont change your username).

  47. I think we should reduce the presidential term to 2 years and allow for 5 terms. That way there will be a lot of development in our country because the presidential hopefuls will be busy try to impress the public.

  48. Vote for Sata for hunger and relief maize. He has no agricultural policies. Government is not only about taxes. We need good agric policies for self sufficiency in food.

  49. come 30th we are ready to vote infact iam praying for the right candidate 2 win. a candidate who will not insult us, who will recognise our needs and one who has love for our country. my fellow believers i don’t see your postings why? lets not give room to the devil to continue braining washing the pipo that God has created. lets contribute where possible.

  50. We cannot afford to have a lunatic for President, let us have sarnity not rubbish, the whole WORLD will laugh at us.
We all know that Sata is shame as a country.
If all Zambians were to be sincere we only have 2 good candidates namely HH,then Miyanda if all fails.
we need a normal energetic wise leader regardless of their tribe.

  51. #1
are you sure akulu mpuno can be a president?
do not mislead a poor man he is very tired with life, he is sleeping every he goes.think kurk!!!

  52. OIL IN CHAMA SURE, THIS RB HAS BEEN DREAMING. HIS BROTHER IN LAW FAILED TO GET IT AND HE SHAMELESSLY SAYS CHAMA HAS OIL.

  53. NIPABWATOOOOOOOOO. NO MORE NKOLOKO ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
ITS BA SATA. RB GO AND SLEEP, SOME ZAMBIANS ARE DISTURBING YOUR SLEEP.

  54. #82 you are right.
Zambia will have the MOST ILLITERATE leader the whole world if he won the elections, imagine the reparcations,DISASTER.
Sata knows that he cannot do what he has promised free money to his intake mates,KAPONYA’S.
These are the same people who will suffer so much just ilke it happenend under Chiluba.

  55. no they only uplift that of their families and their girl friends. lelo bakaponya muleya, mwalapya nga DOOR MAT. viva SATA

  56. #88. Kasama veron

You are right. Sata is very dangerous for this country. Has anyone thought about the type of speeches Sata will give at a UN meeting??

Will he be able to understand the business jargon when meeting with the Browns and Obama’s. Will he be able to tell a good investment from a Bad one when the IMF and World Bank will be advising him on certain developmental programs??

Sata is wrong for this country.

  57. Do you remember Sata carrying a trunk stuffed with ZMK 2.0 BILLION which money was used for an MMD convention. The same was looted from Parliament coffers, so you guys watchout, you may put in state house someone who will loot the national treasury. HH is the right man for plot one. He definitely has my vote.

  58. iwe ka no.86 you are the pipo plundering the the money and iam not suprised that you can say that but my piece of advice to you is that ,you are heading for a rude shock, this time ka no.86, 1991 is repeating itself.

  59. All I can tell from these posts is that people that want Sata just want him to rule with or without a programm and prefer HH for 2011 (postponing development)Its like they feel Zambians owe Sata so he must rule no matter what! Those that want HH to rule, they are so hungry for real change, they want to see a fruitful future for the kids, they want to follow the UPND manifesto for it is self explanatory, they know that chances of success are very high. Those for RB, all they want is continuity with change, in this case, having a dollar at 8 pin by january next year, continue stealing through fruitless workshops, fear HH would bring more educated people in there workplaces!

  61. GOD HELP US CHOOSE THE RIGHT LEADER!
I BELIEVE U TOOK LEVY PREMATURELY FOR A REASON, THEREFORE,
DO NOT LEAD US INTO CHAOS BUT DELIVER US FROM THE IMMINENT ECONOMIC & POLITICAL CRISIS.
    AMEN!

  62. 92..You are exposing your ignorance in the quest to decampaign SATA. Don’t you know that every head of state has advisers or technocrats who accompany them for high level meetings? Speech writers are included! Spare us your ignorance on how governments operate please!!

  63. GUYS DO YOU KNOW THAT RB IS A ZIMBAMBWEAN THAT CHAP WAS BORN IN ZIMU SO IF YOU PUT HIM IN POWER THE MUGABE RGIM WILL BE IN ZAMBIA BELIVE ME.

  64. My worry with some candidates like SATA is that I will not want to be denied my right to vote in 2011. The other think is that I dont to go back to the road hooting and fighting against third term which we laboured so hard to put to an end. The very fact that he does not want elections in 2011 is a serious indicator to a third and even fourth term. His party official refused to agree to the three year tenure for the next president.
I would not want endorse such a party, because you will have no room for change even when things turn out to be bad.

    JUST WHAT KEEPS RB AWAKE?

  70. MMD distroyed our economy its only Levy who tried 2 lift our lives. The mmd of chiluba and sata was a curse 2 zambia we dont need anything 2 do with sata anymore plse zedian its time 4 real change. Let the new blood rule us plse. Ba banda is fasta asleep . Viva HH 4eva.

  71. 45. JELITA
You must understand that for some positions it is very easy to claim victory. If you are a minister of local government your projects are very easy to point at compared to a minister of defence whose job may mainly diplomatic, security and peace keeping.
This is where cadres miss the point. I would rather point to the entire goverment of KK, than to single out an individual(yes sometimes it may be necessary to point an individual but not always).
When SATA was building the fly-over bridges do you tell me the minister of home affairs was sleeping? No, he provided law and order. The minister of defence provided peace environment. Diplomats were maintaining diplomatic ties etc.

  72. #98
So you would rather Sata depends on advisors on all economic issues? look at kafupi with the privatisation? Lack of knowledge made it be bad though it is a very good economic booster. All in the name of advisors like Katele, Chibanda, Shansonga, Sata (on council houses, we know he has lots of them in Kabwata, Avondale, Rhodespark,…)!
Wake up now, we need an economic manager and our eyes can see clearly that at the moment, it’s HH!
    Vuka uziyenzele!!!

  73. #69
you are HIV posive even if you do not know but you still living and still living spreading the disease.Have foresight do not talk like a confused person. uleke ibange nalikukana.KURK!!! mwamukooooooolo

  74. #87 – You lie. My standard of living has greatly improved under MMD. For your own information, I have broadband internet at home, at work, at any shopping mall (and they are many) near me, everywhere. Chaps I didnt know could drive have cars everywhere. Pipo have built houses all over. Unless you choose to ignore this fact. And many more improvements.
Pabwato? bakaponya? Look, do not be swayed, Sata’s popularity is ba kaponya. But even bakaponya themselves, it’s just that they work in groups – kwalola umwela eko twalola, otherwise, I have seen many carrying so much cash they would make yo face blue with envy. MMD cosd this

  75. NI MU BWATO BA DUDU MKIZE MUKA LAMFWA AMA TONYANA MULE KWATA KO NA MANO AND I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD ARE YOU SPEAKING FROM CHUNGA CEMETRY?

  76. 107. cont’d,
The minister of finance did the planning and released the funds for the projects. Parliament discussed the issues; everyone did there part. But politicians know how cadres think that is why they will just tell you I did this and that and you believe them. Governance is team work and not an individual’s job. Some candidates believe that as a president you can hide your vision from your ministers and just share it to an opposition president after recionciliation. If such candidates went to state house they would want to hide the vision and that would lead to chaos in government. Why hide, you to be a hero?

  77. This is real political prostitution, Nawakwi why are you following the sleeping man and why have you abandoned your former boss FTJ? we are reviving the carrington maize scandal after elections, we will catch up with you.
we need women of integrity like mama Gwendoline Koni, where is she?

  78. #110 contd..
For yo information, every peace of land in Lusaka is now owned by someone. If there is one remaining, tell me, I will go and buy it and make loads of money out it.
All this is bcoz of MMD policies. The only thorn remaining – constitution.
Right now, I dont even know where Sata stands on this issue. If he has any opinion at all. Just flip flopping umoshachela! Today, I support NCC, mailo awe, the other day… mwebantu, shani?

  79. I am a HH cadre who is going to vote for RB. I think we need to clean up the political system by getting rid of kaponyas.

  80. 107 cont’d
So please leave this thing of hero worshiping. Yes if you are the president many things will be attributed to you because you are the one at the helm of direction. But not individual governor or minister or counsellor should start to boast. Tell me one diplomat or Zaf, Army commander, judge, etc who has achieved great things for Zambia and list them down for me to see.

  81. #110,WE WANT CHANGE BABA…. U CANT REVOLUTIONIZE WITH SAME PIPO..

YOU WILL SEE GREAT THINGS THAN WHAT U ARE TALKING ABOUT…. AFTER ALL PIPO ARE BUILDING THESE HOUSES THRU THEIR NOSE……..OTHERS LIKE U… THRU CORRUPT MONEY OR DIRTY IF YOU LIKE….. DONT BE CHEATED MAJORITY OF THOSE FUNCY THINS U SEE ARE FOREIGNERS…. GO TO THE RURAL OR SLAM SECTOR AND SEE….U WILL BE SHOCKED

  82. lets be honest and vote for a leader who will take zed to greater hights.Lets not allow people to sway our thinkng but be wise as we cast that vote come 30th.

  83. I must repeat myself, these calls for not holding elections in 2011 are very worrying and unconstitutional. While we love our four candidates let us vote wisely, I think we still need our democracy. I dont think we are fade up of our precious democracy. I dont want to start chasing and hooting against ‘third term’ again, that excersise was futile and costly. We dont want new Nakawala to immerge again in our country. Let us vote people who know democracy not those dont understand what elections are. Viva Zambia, Viva Peace, Viva Democracy, Viva elections in 2011, Viva the right candidate

  84. #119 – I feel pity for you. Whether revolution or no revolution, your attitude alone will either make you poor or rich. Rich here I mean a having a reasonably fulfilled life. Do you really think Sata will stand at plot 1 and start dishing out money? If not, you will still be selling your chibwabwa at the market or punching away on your keyboard in your usual office, complaining over the same and maybe worse issues till forever.
Wake up man, dont destroy the little being enjoyed in the country. Unless u r in the diaspora, in which case, forget it.. you dont matter. U will note vote anyway.

  85. Pabwato People, dont say you didnt see it coming, Sata is disaster to vote in as president. He has completely no idea of what it means to be president. Thats why in his campaigns, he is only able to convince illiterates and kids, he talks about things from the surface, he has no idea about the details. You supporters want to kill the man. Give him three months and you will see him again being rushed to South Africa or Taiwan as he realised that leading a country is not just sweet talk or street talk

  86. Same old old politicians trying to go into the same old old offices and using the same old old tactics, nawakwi must have surely realised that the only chance for her to go into government is by supporting Rb,anyway am not very surprised coz thats caribre of politicians that we have in zambia.

  87. bwezani i think u r running mad again. mmd bwezani banda shrek will feed the pipo with brown envelops. viva sata mwamukoloooooo

  88. I wonder as to whether RB has read what he’s LP MMD chairman has said in the Post 2day

Quote from the Post…..’LUSAKA Province MMD chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe has said Vice-President Rupiah Banda has slim chances of winning next week’s presidential election …’ or is the man soliciting a job with the winning party ????

  89. #91 ..just chill, the same was said about the current Brazillian president. Just let the best man win whether SATA or RB and support him please once he is in plot 1

  90. I dont like the way RB is campaigning! He keeps repeating himself like a tonga! RB where is your degree in economics? At the farm? You need to deliver the killer punch! Come on old man show us you got cohonies!

  91. Is walfare coming back to Zambia? If yes, pabwatoooo. I don’t have to work anymore as some one will be putting money in my pocket. No work No work No work lalalalalala

  92. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  93. No matter what you say about Sata, its very clear that by now pipo have made up their minds it is visible and we can feel it.southern province has join the boat as well, this time we are sharing votes.come next week it will be all over

  94. What improved standards of living is Rejected Ballot (RB) going to offer us in his sleep? Let whoever thinks our lives are any better today under the MMD rule challenge me on this score. I mean if our lives are better today, why should our per capita income be one of the lowest in sub sahara, fuel prices the hieghest in the world not to mention food prices and yet we boast of renowned natural resources like copper that we have in abundance, the recently discovered uranium and also watersheds in every corner of this country. Country men and women don’t be cheated. 3 yrs or is it 5 more yrs of MMD rule wont be any different from what they have already given us in past 17 yrs. Vote for chan

  95. WE ARE GIVING MMD ANOTHER CHANCE TO PROVE THEMSELVES.OPPOSITION PARTIES, YOU CANT WAIT FOR ANOTHER 3YRS OK!!!!GOOD RB YOU MUST NOW PROVE THAT MMD UNDER YOUR LEADERSHIP IS CAPABLE OF RESTORING THAT IMAGE OF MMD THAT WAS TENTED.UJAMAA CHABE

  96. Man of Action, why don’t you say things that will make people of Zambia be wo/men of action. Contrary you are promoting laziness by promising them money in the pockets in 90 days. Malabish. Viva RB

  97. On a serious note people lets call a spade a spade and a boat a boat.My point is ubwatooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo makes more sence than common sense

  98. LUSAKA Province MMD chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe has said Vice-President Rupiah Banda has slim chances of winning next week’s presidential election because of disunity in the party.

Chumbwe yesterday said he and other people who supported finance minister Ng’andu Magande during the election of the MMD presidential candidate had totally been sidelined by Vice-President Banda’s campaign team.

Chumbwe said the division had narrowed the MMD’s chances of winning the forthcoming election contrary to the party’s election campaign chairperson Mike Mulongoti’s claims that there was no disunity in the party.

  99. “Some of us have got positions in the party and we have been elected and we should be seen to be doing something and when we are not seen doing something, the people who elected us will ask and when they are not given the right answers, they will be suspicious.

And when Honourable Mulongoti says no one has been sidelined, then it is unfortunate because personally, I have met Mulongoti and there are issues that we have discussed and I can say here for instance, where is honourable Masebo? Even Honourable Magande himself?

Chumbwe said the biggest opposition for the MMD lies within the party.

  100. “The biggest opposition MMD has is the opposition within the party, and it’s true we are not participating because we earlier agreed at a meeting held at Government House after the burial of late president Levy Mwanawasa that all provincial chairpersons would coordinate their provinces.

I went to the campaign centre where I met Mbita Chitala and Richard Kachingwe and they told me that the candidate Rupiah had already approved a list for Lusaka and my name was not there and each time I went to the campaign centre, I could see that things were not moving well because actions speak louder than words.

But I started campaigning for RB using my own resources, going in the field but I saw that th

  101. But I started campaigning for RB using my own resources, going in the field but I saw that there was so much distance between us who were campaigning for Magande and other people,” Chumbwe said.

He said as provincial chairman, he was not told about Vice-President Banda’s movements in Lusaka Province.

“For instance, I am not told when the candidate is visiting places or even going in my province, even when he was in Rufunsa, I didn’t know, even the Chongwe rally. Had it not been for local government minister Sylvia Masebo, I would not have known because she just informed me. That was how I attended that rally,” he said.

  102. Ms Prayer Scretary! You don’t read. Don’t say believers are not posting. We have been posting and there is actaully prayer going on everyday at 21:00hrs. This was intiated but one LT blogger. So please join the team on the move and pray the God does not give us corrupt people to lead us but that he gives us a person that he chooses. With Love. Vote wisely

  103. Chumbwe said he sought audience with Vice-President Banda’s campaign agent Benny Tetamashimba on why the Magande team had been sidelined from the campaigns.

However, he said he was informed that they were being sidelined because Magande had refused to accept the appointment as MMD campaign coordinator for Southern Province.

“Tetamashimba informed me that we have been sidelined because he Magande refused to accept the appointment to work for the party. But the way I know Magande, I doubt it if he really refused to work for the party.

  104. But if indeed he refused to work for the party then people should ask themselves why did Magande refuse the offer of being the campaign co-ordinator for Southern Province. But what I’m saying is if Magande truly refused to work for the party then I blame him because it is unfortunate if he refused to work for the party,” he said.

Chumbwe said even if Magande had refused to work for the party, his followers should not have been sidelined in such a way because they all agreed that they would support Vice-President Banda.

He said despite the divisions, the people that rallied behind Magande had continued to campaign for Vice-President Banda individually in their areas.

  105. Chumbwe said it was unfortunate that the party was busy discussing positions in the new government when the MMD had not yet won the election.

“We should concentrate on campaigning for our candidate Rupiah Banda first before we can start sharing positions in government because a lot needs to be done before October 30,” said Chumbwe.

Last Saturday, president Mwanawasa’s nephew Peter Shakafuswa warned that it would not be easy for Vice-President Banda to win the elections on October 30 if the current disunity in the MMD continues.

Peter said it was unfortunate that Vice-President Banda had continued to sideline all those who voted against him during the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC)

  106. I understand RB has problems in expressing himself using phrases such as; ‘on board’, ‘in the same boat’ ‘crossing’ ‘paddle’ ‘patriotic’ ‘front’ as he strongly feels he might be misquoted as having made sentences in support of the PF leader. Now i understand he does not even want to listen to someone talking about ‘ms’ (microsoft) as he feels this is all in favour of his strongest opponent Michael Sata.

  107. Peter wondered how the MMD hoped to win the forthcoming elections when it was divided.

“There is a lot of speculations that he Vice-President Banda has forsaken finance minister Ng’andu Magande and all those who voted against him. So I am challenging my Acting President to come out in the open and tell the nation the true picture…

“Where is the trust going to be and where is democracy going to be if among ourselves we have not reconciled?” Peter asked. “We are seeing situations where home affairs minister Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha, Magande, local government minister Sylvia Masebo and many others are not part of RB’s campaign.”

  108. However, Peter asked Vice-President Banda to forgive all those that voted against him.

But Mulongoti said it was not true that Vice-President Banda had sidelined all those that campaigned and voted for Magande during the NEC election.

Mulongoti described as incorrect statements by Peter Shakafuswa that it would not be easy for Vice-President Banda to win the October 30 presidential election if the current disunity continued in MMD. He said as far as he was concerned, every MMD member of parliament had a role to play in the campaigns.

“I have no comment to make. I am on the Copperbelt but what people should know is that every MP is supposed to be a campaign manager in their respective cons

  109. “I have no comment to make. I am on the Copperbelt but what people should know is that every MP is supposed to be a campaign manager in their respective constituencies, unless they reject that,” Mulongoti said.

He said some ministers were seen not to be actively involved in the campaigns because of the busy nature of the offices they occupy.

“You know that some people run busy ministries but when they are free, they do attend these campaigns. As you know, government should be running smoothly despite the elections,” Mulongoti said.

  110. And losing MMD Kanchibiya parliamentary candidate Judith Kapijimpanga last week complained that MMD parliamentarians neglected her during the election campaigns.

“I have conceded defeat but I would like to outline that this is one of the quiet MMD by-elections we have ever had from the time I went into politics…the most quiet in the sense that there was no MMD backup,” she said.

Kapijimpanga observed that Sata and his parliamentarians had camped in Kanchibiya to campaign for Mwango.

“But there was no MMD member of parliament in the constituency so I was literally alone until the last three days before polling day. I actually feel neglected by my fellow members of parliament,” Kapijimpan

  111. Asked if she could foresee the same voting pattern in the forthcoming presidential polls, Kapijimpanga said the MMD had to campaign hard to avoid a loss.

“Sata made sure he was everywhere in Kanchibiya, he was campaigning like he was a candidate contesting,” Kapijimpanga said. “So, maybe, if there is a repeat of the same, it could lead to the same type of results but now that he is done with Kanchibiya, I don’t think he will come back and camp in a manner which he did…but if we work hard ourselves…I am staying on to campaign for our candidate and my party and I hope people will realise that it’s the government in power that provides money for the projects.”

  112. And later Kapijimpanga’s husband, Davies, accused community development minister Catherine Namugala and Northern Province MMD chairman Griever Sikasote of practising tribalism and being behind his wife’s loss.

Davies accused Namugala and Sikasote of being tribalists. He said his wife was totally abandoned by her own party.

“No one was sent there to go and campaign the way they did with the Milanzi by-election and even if resources were sent, she needed human resource; people who were going to be helping her there. PF literally camped there, all the PF MPs camped in Kanchibiya. None of our MPs from Northern Province camped there. And the reason is very simple. It is people like Catherine Na

  113. I think some of you are behaving like educated illiterates. you cant even analyse simple issues. RB for Stae House. He is not the best but he is atleast realistic. Lets not change just because we want to, change because there is a better alternative. #42, you talk sense

  114. Well said, Kapiji. Sata knows the mistakes he made last time. This year he has done his homework. Just see the places he is visiting. Last time Sakwiba contributed to Sata’s loss but uno mwaka tulu mubwato. The rains are here after all!

  115. RB ni Kabwalala, ask bana Chipo. I told her. Don’t vote for this guy. Didn’t you see, he increased his salary when I was in hospital and celebrated upon my demise.

RB is a devil. Don’t vote for him. VOTE for SATA. If you don’t want to vote for SATA then don’t vote at all. You are an alien.

  116. #42 and #162. I beg to differ with you. I think it all depends on what type of investors you are talking about. Tell me that FQM, Zambezi Resources, Albidon, etc are going to pull out because Sata is going to be President??? Lets not mislead people because we have a natural dislike of someone. What we have among the three candidates is a stalemate. RB is out of touch with reality, surrounded by people I can refer to as political prostitutes. HH has been betrayed by his ascendance to the top position, his corporate past leaves him out of touch with politics. Sata is not consistent in his utterances and this could be very dangerous for a leader.Taking all three together, I think Sata beats all!

  117. Guess it’ a matter of time before pip realise that Zambian politics are about food on the table than real developmental issues. wake up zambians and vote wisely, vote the for the right candidate for the job. His name is found in the bible…. chao for now

  118. #45
Ba JELITA be brief and precise, mwilacita nga mwalya ubwali na katapa yamikola mwalasabaila. think before you open your mouth. you know nothing kaponya, feck analysis and full of sh…t.VIVA SATA

  120. Nawakwi you are a disgrace. Good thing is politically you are finished! I supported you and now you are in a wrong camp!! See what greediness breeds! RB has no agenda and he is just being pushed by bamulilyo mpite!!!! No interest for the poor Zambians!

NIPA BWATO! NIPA BWATO!!!!! IF you want reall development NIPA BWATO!

  121. Let the pipo of Zed decide 4 themselves who is the best man.Rigging will bring confusion in this country.Don’t take the pipo of Zambia for granted.Don’t put pipo in danger just because one wants to rule. How can u rule chaos. There is more to life than being president.Peace is very expensive.Ask South Africa, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Iraq … the list is endless.

  122. Ladies and Gentlemen reality has dawned in me. Its only seven days to go before the D-day. I have just confirmed my flight to go back home and vote but I have no idea who to vote for after the critical analysis of the candidates I am at pains to choose the rightful one.

RB has worried me for having courted the Chilubas, VJ, Aka. He was poised to win the polls by landslide but his acts of desperation leave much to desire.

Sata can win but the painful truth is taht he is not the Presidential material. The issue of the investors is a serious one the way King Cobra is coming out is worrysome.

HH is the right candidate but he is still in his infancy politically. Am at crossroads HELP ME!

  123. Toadface you’re lying again. Only MMD has damaged our economy further in the last 17 years. MMD went out getting big, impossible-to-pay-back loans from the World Bank. Thanks to you, our future generations will continue to live in a heavily indebted poor country. No way MMD

  124. 30th October 2008 will be a day of reckoning. Those who have performed will stay, those who haven’t performed will go! The choice is yours. Ine ni pabwato fye!!!

  125. ::: BREAKING NEWS :::

In 2009 the incoming government will start killing all the mentally ill people.

I started crying when I thought of how I would miss most of our politicians.

    Run my friends, run!

  126. All of supporting RB are sick like him cant you see how he is panicking reducing prizes like no man’s buziness join us why vote for the sleeping gaint and sata is finished while HH is a baby just prepareing for 2010 only the big man will make it

  127. Mingeli Palata caught lying about HH on http://www.lusakatimes.com/ ? p = 4932.
    “A N C D A I L Y N E W S B R I E F I N G…FRIDAY 2 DECEMBER 2005
@ ZAMBIA-VOTE-OPPOSITION…LUSAKA 1 December 2005 Sapa-AFP…Bob Sichinga, vice president of the United Party for National
Development (UPND), quit his post after he called for leader
Anderson Mazoka to step down. “I advised Mazoka not to contest his position because of his poor health but he has refused to heed my advise,” Sichinga said.” Meanwhile UNPD Superdelegates elected president HH in August or so of 2006 ahead of the Nov. 2006 election
Please, I am waiting for you response to this, Mingeli Palata. Great men and women apologise for cheating.

  128. For 17 years that MMD has been in power, why hasn’t the party lifted the living standards of the Zambia people? This is cheap politicking, get real. Viva opposition!!! Lets boot these guys out, we are sick and tired of their empty promises!!

  129. SATA is a Kaponya………. proper street boy …..shabby…rough….unpolished….old….smelly…….. uneducated…. directionless….. short tempered …. erratic …. unpredictable ….. and and … ohhh ….. UGLY FUC^ER

  130. “Mr. Sikota said only MMD could save people from the problems they were facing. The rally was also attended by opposition party Presidents, Edith Nawakwi from FDD and UNIP President Tilyenji Kaunda.”

Continue working hard brothers and sister, you might just land yourselves some jobs. I see that the opposition has been rough on you and GRZ can help this time around. I just hope RBB will not dump you after the elections if he wins the way late LPM dumped former Zambian President Chiluba.
