THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has said it will start announcing the presidential election results from across the country by tomorrow morning.

ECZ chairperson, Florence Mumba said in Lusaka yesterday that announcements would be done at Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) as the results pour in from the 150 constituencies.

“From totalling centres, the results will be taken to district centres where they will be transmitted electronically and by fax to MICC where the first announcement is expected by tomorrow morning,” Justice Mumba said.

She said national totals stating the winner would only be announced once the results from all the constituencies have been received.

Justice Mumba said the ECZ wanted to ensure that there was no confusion in the way the results are announced.

The MICC has been designed as the central place where election results from all the districts will be announced and given to the public through the media who will also be at the centre.

“The commission is ready for today’s election. The poll will start at 06.00 hours and close at 18:00 hours. Counting will immediately start at the various polling centres,” Mrs Justice Mumba said.

She said the system of delivering the results was safe because the marked ballots could only be accessed by returning officers at the district level.

Justice Mumba said the aim was to eliminate the chances of tampering with the results while in transit.

“Although this year’s presidential election has been a mammoth task and challenge, the commission will conduct it in transparency and fairness.

“ECZ has come a long way in its preparations and has put in place several measures to enhance transparency and stakeholder confidence in the electoral process,” Justice Mumba said.

She said the establishment of the election results centre was one such measure aimed at enhancing transparency.

And electoral officials from all the provinces said everything was in place for today’s election and assured the voting public that the polls would be conducted in a transparent and fair manner.

Those contesting the presidency are acting President, Rupiah Banda, who is standing on the MMD ticket, and the Patriotic Front leader, Michael Sata.

Others are United Party for National Development president, Hakainde Hichilema, and Heritage Party’s Godfrey Miyanda

  1. its nice ,no Ireen mambilima doing the announcements this time, that good for a change.may the best party win.viva zambians

  2. #1. iwe, what’s ur problem? ndiwe ofunta olo chani? what’s with this “i am first thing?” what type of identity crisis is this? Inferiority complex? come on, show yourself worth, i challenge you, grow up!
as for the elections, praise god we won’t have to wait like Zim, we will be keeping track and see who is who in the zoo between Sata and RB. Sorry HH, I am speaking reality here, I won’t chuff you with words, you are not on the picture …

  3. Guys in Zambia, whats wrong? we are hearing that there is very low voter turn out. where has the crowd suddenly gone? something fishy here. Also some voters have been denied to vote coz they dont have the card as it was promised they will get it at the polling station. Mwati si VJ uyu mwandi, kwena mailo wina aza zitundila maila.

  4. Its a chance to build a great nation. For the first time in so many years, our economy faces uncertainty due to an election. For this reason, i urge my fellow elligible Zambian voters back home to vote wisely n not just fall for empty and unrealistic promises. In a present global world, you cant build a nation by scaring away both existing n potential investors.A K1 investment is owaz far much better than none….Becareful the way u treat investors bcoz the Late Mwanawasa worked so hard to bring them to Zambia at a time when Zambia was a write off.

  5. I hope RB wins. HH must prepare for 2011 and cast out the tribal allegations against UPND. I think HH has to make a delibarate move by brining in people from East, North and Luapula. As for Sata, no way Zambia should go back to Stone Age.

  6. I think we have given credit to VJ undeservedly. In the case of Sata, he lost the 2001 & 2006 elections cleanly. This time, it looks he may win or lose cleanly.May the best man win. May God be with Zambia.

  7. Am from voting. Got to tell you that there are alot of people at Woodlands B. Some places today
comparing the noise that was in town(Lsk) yesterday. God bless Zed.

  8. Hope people have voted wisely. Africa is under developed today because of lack of good leaders. This is as a result of wrong choice of leaders by the electrolates. In african you can a thief today and become a hero tomorrow. Are we cursed? No, I think the majority have shallow reasoning power

  9. I thought that was agreed taht the results will be announced at each polling station, in order to reduces chances of rigging? Why does ECZ not talk abou this?

Can anybody give a clarification please?

    Thanks!

  10. but kwena this years’s election yiliko bad, I can see Rupia winning and that will be an end to the post newspaper and zambian airways, wait a minute?????? SATA IA WINNING AND WILL WORK WITH THE POST BECOZ THEY HAVE SUPPORTED HIM FOR THE PAST ONE MONTH A DEAL THAT WILL SEE THEM FIX THEIR ENEMIES IN MMD…

  11. Opposition please do not allow the electronically transmitting of results better by fax a software that manipulates figures is used or else muzalila.

  12. All those that would not like H.E MR SATA should start packing heading towards Congo DR or Angola if you’re Tonga or Lozi

  13. It appears like this is the end of MMD rule from the info we are getting. Colleagues who in Zambia, whats does it look like? Sata for Presdo?

  14. Simutanyi stands his ground
Pangolin consultant, Neo Simutanyi, has maintained that his firm has never conducted any opinion polls since 2006.

Dr. Simutanyi says the polls that were attributed to him were based on an alleged SMS received by the Post Newspaper from undisclosed sources.

He says it is unfortunate that The Post Newspaper went ahead to publish the story without verifying with him.

Dr. Simutanyi also denied that Fredrick Herbet stiftung was involved in any such opinion poll.

He said it is unfortunate that the Post Newspaper has lost the sense of balance in its coverage.

However, the Post Managing Editor, Amos Malupenga, has maintained that Dr. Simutanyi is the so

  15. Comment no 10 Shidada, Windhoek I think you are suffering from language poverty I wonder whether you have been following politics in zambia recently. now let me educate u pick a piece of paper and pen remain awake at 03:00 tomorrow and see the thousands Sata will be having and the hundreds your so called Rupiah money mumbwezeni kumunzi Banda will getting. I dont even want to waste my time to talk about HH (Hakaivotala Haka)Sorry this time is defferent.

  16. i surrender! i leave the presidential sit for RB………am sorry to all my supporterz but this time i think i cnt manage this country.
i think ill have another stroke if i enter that house of presidency…..like i said state funeral yaliba expensive! so mwinvoteler……thank you for your patience
MICHEAL CHILUFYA SATA (patriotic front leader)

  17. Thank you Florence. The earlier we get all the results the better, atleast VJ wont have the time to go around rigging in all places.
Boys have been separated from men everybody knows that HH is in the others category. Grow up HH listen to what the masses are saying, you can not afford tribal politics tongas are not the majority in zambia. Incoporate everyone from every part of the country then we will rally behind you in the next election.
Viva pabwato!!! Finally shikulu your time is here please dont disappoint us, keep listening and act to give the masses a better life.

  18. #17
Nothing has chnged the results will still be plastered on the polling sttion windows or doors but the final and important announcements will be made at MCC

  19. Blogging from Livingstone, voter turn out is fairly low here. I wonder where all those pf cadres we used to see chanting slogans are today?….

  20. # 18.Voice of Reason…….you are asking for problems. You just dont like sata. There are alot of pipo who just dont like him. they love him. This is a democracy remember? Free choice. politics is about numbers and going by the pictures we have been seeing sata and the PF have the numbers. None of the other three can much him. I dont support him but i have learnt to accept the situation as i see it. I edge all of us who have been supporting either RB, Miyanda, and HH to swallow the bitter pill and accept that sata may win.
    God bless zambia!

  21. we all have the duty to better our mother land zambia-my appeal is to ask the people involved in the holding of the votes to produce quality work-please do not interfere with the people’s choice and God will surely bless you if you do your work professionally-do not be afraid of any one not even the ruling govt or judiciary do your work as expected-we pray for you.Remember that maintaining peace right now lies in your hands by producing true and fair results-we need a peaceful future.Let the people’s choice win.

  22. Shidada I know you my friend you never learn thats your problem just like your HH you are loosers and will loose terribly today.

  23. #23,Shi Mambepa,
Some people may not like Sata and that does not mean they have to leave the country in the event that Sata becomes president. No president on planet earth has received 100% popularity from the citizens. We have only one Zambia, and Zambia shall always be a home to Zambians, even non Zambians regardless of who is coming into power. Zambia is bigger than the president. A practical example of how we should live was given by the late LPM. He did all in his power to save the life of a perceived political enemy (Sata) from eminent death from a fatal heart attack. Zambia is blessed.

  25. For the sake of continued sanity and peace in Zambia. Let RB win even if it means rigging, let it be. All the former presidents have not recommended the “snake”. Even Chiluba, who used to be a great ally of the “snake” opted for the late LPM when his 3rd term bid failed in 2001.
Both KK and FTJ have endorsed RB. People will regret if they elect the “snake”.

  26. # 31.JB…….your RB most of his rallies have been flops. its only that he has GRZ backing. clean elections he stands no chance. his number 3.

  27. #6 grow up yourself and leve number 1 alone!!
its coz of guys lllllke you that zambia cant develop i am happy 2day you n your own(rb) will no longer be!
your friend strives to be 1st LET HIM BE!!!
    VIVA SATA VIVA SUBMARINE(PA BWATO!!!)

  28. Im not into politics or election and all……but to be truthful we need an intelligent leader who can understand the language of other leaders across the world….not a leader who understand and can only be understood by zambians alone.they say no person is an island….we need other good developed countries to help us develop mother zed…..that can only be done by the good choice we make in votin for these leaderz….MAY THAT BEST CANDIDATE WIN AND GOD BLESS US ALL..

  29. #44 Red card iwe, leka malabish! Otherwise, kwena twapuswa pa Zed fwe bashiliko, mwe. I hope all those multitudes I saw on Sata’s last rallies yesterday are voting now. If that’s the case then zo ona wina aza zitundila mailo!

  30. dear friends-you who are asking for rigging-what is your biggest problem?let the people’s choice prevail-KK and FTJ are not the voice of zambians.Rigging are old fashioned technics which undermine our integrity and forget about peace if anyone rigs.Abash the evil spirit of rigging-I pray it will not happen. What a curse to the rigger.

  31. #48…are you okay? maybe you are still sleeping?……huh i said RB will win dont you understand?
anyway one zambia one nation………dont vote for me, vote RB

  32. MMD please rig yo way to victory for the sake of mother Zambia and her children. Some of whom are hungry, poor, rich, happy, sad, angry etc but really its not entirely yo fault some of them are just lazy.

  33. chanting continues:

  34. Don’t be over excited pf supporters coz yo sata may lose.the problem in zambia is that wen the ruling party wins then elections have been rigged,if the opposition wins the elections were free and fair.leave room 4 disapointment bcoz the pipo who voted in 2006 are the 1 who will vote 2day.if anything rb has more support than the support levy had in 2001 bt he won.

  35. People why do you insult people with different opinions? Sata is from Stone Age. Rupiah is also from stone age but under this circumstances he is a better choice then, Sata. Sata, like most opposition parties in Africa has already said, he won’t accept the results.

  36. Mr Mugabe should learn from zambia, it shouldn’t take more than 3 days to varify election results.I hope the ECZ sticks by it’s guide lines and promises and make our young democratic country proud.

  37. All u HH supporters,he has no chance.UPND still a tribal en regional party.RB has old fashioned politics of Sugar en ubunga ,Pabwatoooo!Mwamukolooo!

  38. Ba PF, muzalila!!!!! Mark my words. There are no people on the queues in Lusaka, one of your strongholds. the turnout is worse than 2006, when Mwanawasa won the ellection, GENUINELY. Mwalepanga ichongo ukomona kwati ichongo echivota. So, that Steadman opinion poll, what effect will it have now that the estimated people have not gone to the polling stations??? I have talked to a few colleagues who have gone to vote (most of them non-PF sympathisers), and they tell me wherever they have voted from they were the only ones at the polling station. If PF has to win, it has to have a good trun out in Lusaka and Copperbelt. So far, the trun out in these two places is not good. Hear me?

  39. HAVE YOU NOTICED THE LAST MINUTE DEFECTORS TO PF? WHY IS NOBODY CALLING THEM ‘JOB SEEKERS.’ THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO THINK THE PF SATA IS WINNING. SINCE ONE OF THEM IS FORMER LUSAKA PROVINCE MMD CHAIRMAN IT GOES TO PROVE THAT THERE IS NO RIGGING, OTHRWISE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO CONFIDENT AS TO REMAIN IN THE RULING PARTY. THEN THERE IS THE PUDDING PARTY DAN PULE! HE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT SATA IS GOD’S CHOICE! HE RECENTLY DIVORCED HIS GOD’ CHOSEN WIVES.
RB IS STAYING PUT. HE IS THE RIGHTMAN, BUT AS NKHRUMA SAID, ‘WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE, TO CHOOSE EVEN OUR OWN DESTRUCTION.’ 1N 1930’S THE GERMANS CHOSE A MAN OF ACTION AS CHANCELLOR. THE REST IS HISTORY. SATA WILL LEAD BY BULLYING AND INTIMIDATION

  40. Ba #51.Nine Chale….i cant assure you 3/4 of those pipo you saw are votting right now. I dont see my candidate. Am being a realist here. ha ha ha!!!!!!

  41. funny how each computer has a printer – talk about waste of resources. some computer company made a minting.

  42. #17, the results will be posted at the polling stations and announced at MICC, that is how I understand it. #61, mistaking Lusaka for being national is the biggest mistake you can make, the fact that Sata is popular in Copperbelt, Luapula and Lusaka does not mean his party is national in character.

  43. #62, like I blogged earlier, even here in Livingstone where the PF supporters were making noise day and night, the voter turn out is very, very low…you cant stand in the queues for more than 5 mins…theres just nobody to vote! Where are the ‘pabwato crowds’????

  44. LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO

FINALLY OUR TIME TO BE VINDICATED HAS COME!!!!

OUT WITH BANA NJOVU AND ALL THE STAFF AT THE ZAMBIAN EMBASSY IN RUSSIA ALL YOU PARTY CARDERS WILL BE NO MORE NI PA BWATO FYE!!!

    TWANAKA NAIMWE PA POMPWE!!!!

LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO LELO

  45. The serpent in the bible represents SATAn.the first option the computer gives wen typing the name ‘sata’ is satan.
I jst pray that a christian nation is nt led by such a character.

  46. IN THE MOVIE ‘THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND’ THE BRITISH CONSUL IN KAMPALA PRAISES IDI AMIN AS A MAN OF ACTION. ‘A KIND OF GUY WHO GETS THINGS DONE,’ HE SAYS. ‘MIND YOU’ HE CONTINUES ‘IN AFRICA YOU NEED PEOPLE LIKE THAT.’ VERY PATRONISING. IN THIS DAY AND AGE ARE ZAMBIANS SO UNMOTIVATED THAT THEY NEED SOMEONE LIKE SATA TO KICK THIR BACK SIDES AND GET THEM WORKING? COULD THAT BE WHY HIS VICE PRESIDENT IS AN IMMIGRANT DESCENDANT? I HAVE MET SO MANY WHITE FOLK IN ZAMBIA WHO BELIEVE THAT ZAMBIANS NEED A DICTATOR TO GET THINGS MOVING. WE DO NOT NEED TO LOSE OUR DIGNITY AND INDIVIDUAL AUTONOMY TO GET DEVELOPMENT. TODAY, ZAMBIANS, VOTE FOR DIGNITY.

  47. thankx to everyone for voting pabwatttttttttttttttooooooooooooooo.wise choice.chombo cha noah!
i wish i was home to celebrate the victory of my president.SATA,and the pipo of zambia we are together in spirit.
    VIVI PF!VIVA SATA!

  48. how much time would it take if results were to be announced from all the 6,456 polling stations??????????? Its only possible to announce from the districts.

  49. most of sata’s supporters are disorganised chaps, i bet they lost their voter’s cards. as for HH i am casting for him and so are most sensible people i know.

  50. Ba # 59 shidada, windhoek, None of the 4 candidates is best for zambia. they are only best according to us the supporters.
    RB is best-MMD supporters
    HH is best-UPND supporters
    Miyanda is best-His supporters
And sata is best PF supporters!
Lets learn to accept whats on the ground. we will make life easy for ourselves. i accept, my candidate is losting. he cant match.

  51. Its ok If you are not behind something using your plans of eliminating sata. This time its different, so ECZ keep it up do your work wisely.Remember sata is the only man this Time.

  52. All u pipo who outside Zambia, stop misinforming pipo by peddling lies ur gettin from yo friends here who r not even voters,I’ve jus voted en been 2 other polling stations, truth is,we r votin en mass!Pa bwato!!

  53. Pabwato, wher are your crowds on voting day…they are not in the polling stations in Lusaka and Coperbelt. this where you are liely to win the election. but if your people have stayed away, then you remain with ONLY Luapula province. By the way, Luapula is second last in terms of number of voters in Zambia. It beats only North Western Province. Tell me, how are you going to win without the numbers coming to vote in Lusaka and CB. I beg to be educated. Start licking your wounds bangwele. Mwasamwa sana imwe ma tribalists who are goo at labelling others with the same cancer that haunts you. God will not allow Sata to rule Zambia – ever

  54. We want to know our next president on weekend. So carefull with your announcements (ECZ).Sata Is our next presedent we know.

  55. Ba LT you said you would be bocking abusive langause yet you’re still allowing comments like #74 and #80. It’s not right!
#68 patience my brother, patience…the day is still long enough. I’m sure the PF supporters will storm into the vote houses this afternoon.

  56. # 70 Enigma. Have you visited all the polling stations in livingstone for you to see the PF supporters? there are hundreds of polling stations in livingstone. the pipo votting at these centres are the PF crowds you were seeing. Are you expecting them to come to your polling station? ha ha ha!!! guys!!!!!!!

  57. #86 do you know what you are talking about?
Do not exercise your madness on this net please twapapata ifwe tuli mu Bwato kuno ku CB natilila over

  58. pepo pepo whats the situation like back home, are we voting whats the turn out, is it a case of apathy or not, there has been so much hype over this election

  59. So far according to live updates on http://www.CopperNET Solutions-: ZNBC Radio 4 Live broadcast, there is low turn out of voters in some parts of the country.
All those cadres who were making noise are not voting, they have no voters cards

  60. Abena Tom Burgis ku Financial Times ati:

“Stable but frustrated, copper-rich but grindingly poor, Zambia goes to the polls today in an election seen in many quarters as a barometer for the continent as it braces for an economic storm.”

Kuli kantu, umozi aza tulula mailo.

  61. Very poor turnout bro. especially here in C B province . I voted 4 HH around 0700hrs this time as am blogging there no quieu that what ma wife has just told me she is just from voting 4 HH in mufulira

  62. Iwe # 81 zedian.. who told you PF supporters lost their cards, they are disorganised and they are not sensible? Please guys lets learn to accept that sata seems more popular than all the other candidates. my candidate included. I think you are being emotional and misdirecting yourself. nizako izo.

  63. # 89 listen, and listen good. I was in Livingstone in 2006, and the turn out was large. I am in Livingstone now and the turnout compared to 2006 is very low. the same people who voted then are supposed to vote now. If you dont want to belive me nizako izo, you will cry foul.

  64. On a lighter note people while we wait for the poll results to come in lets remember the good old days
Who rembers ZANGALEWA the music video i went to look for it to bring it here for you for old times sake Enjoy the video below

    megavideo.com/?v=A2E1L18H

  65. I have a feeling, if there is apathy genuine or caused then MMD is staying on for another 5 years. twa chula za more…..

  66. Pepo i have just looked at the pics for the final rallies, you mean to tell me all those pepo are not voting, what the hell were they doing at the rallies then, was there free pap and booze?????????

  67. i find some pipo to be interesting, still campaigning they dont know that the campaign period is over, am from voting and i spent less than 20 minutes on the que, the question is where are the noise makers, answer is; frank mutubila asked sata concerning the fact that most of the pipo attending his rallies have no voters cards and in response sata admitted saying he couldnt chase pipo bcoz he believed though they dont have cards they would be able to influence a voter somewere. so guys dont worry, let the best man win, we have voted

  68. #100 we would love to vote but it’s not our fault that our government can’t create a TED system to enable it’s citizens abroad to vote.
As for the elections, I think MMD lacks fundamental support and has some hidden tactics which we are yet to behold. Campaigns alone would never ensure a win unless you have strategy to back it up.

  69. # 107 ndiwe uziba kukamba. Let the best man win, and let us all accept results. Lets not judge by the crowds that attended rallies.

  70. #101, apathy is there, get it from us who are here in Zambia. You are in RSA. I agree with you that this means MMD continues, which is better than Sata in state House.

  71. The idea it seens is to give us the first results tomorrow. CAn you imagine that! They should have released the first results even som etime later today. Anyway, the good Lord has miraculous ways of revealing the truth. AMEN!

  72. Country men and women this election will be teach us something. i have this feeling it will go on smoothly and the winner will come out. I will not be suprised if its sata! cos His the most popular. I want MMD supporters to accept this. Lets also remember that on one has suprime ownership to ruling this counrty. MMD supporters think they do. thats why the are even talking about rigging.

  73. I hope the pwabo people who voted noticed that they were alone at the polling station.Thats how life is guys, you were screaming alot of your man, and the queue to the polling stations were not that long, I hope you have the senses to realise whta this means, if in complain of low turn out in Lusaka and copperbelt, forget plot. 1. RB will clean the rural areas and provines like Eastern, NW, Western, Central, etc.

And bola panshe ….. easy and watch the election go and go and go.

  74. #105, if you don’t know HH, then you have joined the ignorance and empty-headedness of the nationals hosting you in that country called USA. Americans generally don’t know the difference between Africa and South Africa; Nigeria and Africa; Zambia and South Africa, and, most of all, George Bush (your host President) thinks Africa is a country. Any wonder you don’t HH then?

  75. # 113 zambia one…… who says when there is apathy RB continues? Can you explain your thinking here. i want to know.

  76. 107 cont.
i just want to advise my fellow zambians who may be tempted to go onto the streets should their preffered candidate loose that they’ll be doing so at their own cost, these candidates will not even be there to bail them out or to pay for their medical bills should anything happen to them, look at kenya, more than 1000 pipo died but mwayi kibaki and raira odinga are still their with their families, next door in zimbabwe alot of pipo died but mugabe and morgan are still their enjoying tea and coffee, so if a politician asks you to go on the street tell him to go there first, remember zambia is for all of us thats why ysterday all parties had huge crowds in LSK

  77. Remember the “Kulibonesha ta”. It angered a lot of Zambians but as usual every one kept their cool. Meanwhile family tree grew branches so rapidly and became the order of the day.
Also remmeber in 2006, when a hand was extended in greeting and you did not express “ku yuma yuma ba daala” you were witten off as the enemy.
“Lekeni naifwe tu tekeko” is another expression now coming out to show emotions kept in check for too long. If they other two expressions were allowed to flourish Y not this one?

    One Zambia One Nation

  78. A friend of mine in the media was assigned this morning to cover Sata as he cast his vote. At the polling station, Sata looked dejected, according to my friend. He shouted at the election observers, saying they don’t know what they are doing (as though they caused the apathy). My friend says Sata even refused to talk to journalists pon realising what this poor(est) turn out means to his chances of getting to State House. He was forlon-faced. PF cadres, if your leader is down, who will lift up your spirits? Big numbers at raliies don’t translate into votes on election day unless people go to the polling stations. That is not happening, at least in Lusaka and Copperbelt. Wina azalila!!!!!!!!!!

  79. #120 good point! For sure if u don’t know HH then it does show ignorancei because you can’t support a candate without first checking out and analysing his opposition, thats why elections r so shady people just vote without critical analysis. n I am not an HH supporter by the way maybe in 2011 i will be…but being well informed is cruicial ignorance isnt all the bliss its cracked out to be!

  80. 120 cont.
what we need to remember is that democracy is about different opinions just like we’re expresing different opinions here. so if i favored one candidate over the other i cant be the spokesperson for everyone that is my choice and opinion therefore i have to resspect other pipo’s choices and opinions especially that we’ve voted already. so lets wait for the results patiently and peacefully as we voted in a peaceful atmosphere.
i felt sorry for a man at my polling station, he was so eager to vote unfortunate he lost his card 2 days ago so he was told that he is not eligible to vote

  81. I appeal to all my supporters to make donations (nangu ama pin pin), this will enable me to travel to Milpark Hospital in south africa after i’m shocked at the results.

  82. ati babwato! Zambians why do we have to gamble with our destiny.Amjust from voting and even here(kitwe) the voter turn out is low, by the way i voted pakuboko, who says he’s losing? it’s not over until God says it’ overrrrrrrrr. viva hh hh hh hh.Not balya ababola ameno.

  83. Under what abnormal circumstances Sata is winning this election.Am just from giving him a vote to be the fourth republican president of Zambia.Viva Sata Viva PF
    Mwamukolooooooooooooooooo!
    Pabwatooooooooooooooooooo!
    Uwakana ukwela,akana ukocha.(Bemba proverb)

  84. Its good to see there are few Zambian flags on the comments list, it shows that people are voting.

Only the ma chona’s are writing…..

  85. # 97…….i know you are in livingstone and you have voted, thats good. My point is it doent mean if there is low voter turn out then those who have not come are PF supporters. ha ha ha!!!! they can be UPND or even MMD supporters. Why is it that you people are saying PF supporters dont have cards, PF supprters didnt turn up to vote? Ba RB na HH ma supporters who were smaller in their numbers all came and have cast their vote. What kind of thinking is this? you sound panicky.

  86. #130, No you dont see the logic here Watch Dog! If Sata has to win this election he has to win massively in urban areas where he has support, like Lusaka, Ndola, Kitwe, Livingstone. But reports from these areas show a low turn out, which is quiet bad for PF but good for MMD. Even if theres a low turn out in rural areas as well, the MMD will not be affected because they have so many such rural and remote areas in their basket. If you cant see logic from this, then kaya che. I am out of here.

  87. 129 point of collection, am in lusaka’s libala township right now and from voting but my frag tag indicates something else. let me beg my compatriots who are still campaigning, pliz its over, nothing you say will change the outcome, by the way do we take time to seriously read other pipo’s coments or we just blog? its time to face the future with who ever wins this election, remember we only have one zambia to call home, let the emotions cool down, we have cast the vote already, i repeat, hh had just as many pipo as did sata, rb and vis vesa meaning we live in a society where we can not all be of the same preference, i urge all of us to always remember that. One zambia one nation.

  88. 133 cont.
sorry i meant correction and not collection.so we should remember that even underdogs can also pull surprises, it all depends on which party conducted serious voter sensitization to help their supporters realize the importance of not just turning out in numbers for campaign rallies but also turning out in numbers of polling day otherwise we’ll hear the famous zambian chorus sang during every election “rigging” by the way did we watch znbc main news last evening on the finnal rallies for the 3 major candidates, they all attracted huge crowds so voter apathy affects all of them.

  89. The PF employed mob spsychology strategy to win the elections. They used to transport voters for rallies from Kabwe, Mumbwa, Kafue, coperbelt, Southern, Eastern, etc to influence other voters at their rallies. Most PF supporters have retreated to their home towns. They will be back in Lusaka tomorrow and watch out for chaos!!

  90. To all my brothers and sisters, as we vote for the right person to be our president, let’s seek God’s intervention, as all things are possible through the Almighty God, hence if we seek we shall find a leader.
MAY GOD BE WITH US AND OPEN OUR EYES.

  91. #135 lol! r u really being serious…even if it were mob psychology y get many from other provinces when there r many pipo in lsk itself? hehehe atleast other pipo have more plausible ideas such as unregistered supporters but that one

  92. whats happening pipo are no longer posting, am enjoying your ideas ladies and gentlemen shall we continue posting our opinions

  93. #138 I agree with you, it’s not a question of ferrying supporters from one province to another, it’s a problem of unregistered voters and likely lack of sensitization of the voters, or maybe we need to revisit our school curriculum. voting is not a pastime activity it’s every ones civic duty.

  94. imwe, naimwe HH, HH nindani kansi?? the race here is between the hour and Noah’s ark. the minute HH grows up and embraces every Zambian not just his kith and keen, we’ll vote for him.

  95. You who are talking about low turn outs, you want all those PF & HH crowds to be at one polling station? It is the accumulation of small numbers. Even traffic jams don’t take place in the ‘feeder’ roads. Besides all the bloggers here might be from ku mayadi, where you are four of you and you want crowds.

  96. 138 thats what we call propaganda, its true even yesterday we could see tracks with copperbelt registration numbers and this is common among political parties especially that rallies are usually attended by pipo who dont have much to do.imagine a marketeer living her stand togo and listen to someone who wont buy her food for the family, and others are usually in their offices working when their is a political gathering, this system has been used since the days of chiluba in 2001 and the pf borrowed it. we also so the fdd using the same system in 2001, dont you remember that mazoka was never the media’s favorite, they aactually projected fdd to be mmd’s real challange due to hired crowds

  97. imwe bantu its not possible that all those people can vote. remember Lusaka only has less than six hundred voters that includes Luangwa, chongwe and Kafue. And those rallies combined? they had more than one million people. Answer ? more than half of those that attended are not voters. relax

  98. HH has not lost, don’t be shoked to find that he’s in state house and his win will be clean with no strings attached. Zambla foward nipakuboko chabe

  99. #54 how interesting you re!!! You can make names. And that is good because you are not segregative, all under one roof – SATAKAINDE BANDA eah!

  100. #147 Elections are still in progress. By the end of the day the majority of those card carrying crowds will have cast their votes. I hope verno(m) will not do his trick this time around.

    Za Bot.

  101. #146 i know about hired crowds but why from copperbelt and other distant places what time do they go back? n we all know that there are more than enough pipo in lusaka with nothing to do these r just facts so the crowds at the rally show u just how many pipo in lusaka are jobless…n r just wondering about my friend thats the lusaka scenario ony 5/100 people in lusaka r busy 1 person in an office and the other 4 hustling in the markets n other ‘piece works’ n the 95 who r free to divide themselves amongst hh sata and RB…sad truth!

  102. Imwe, am told SATA had a heart attack in Solwezi and that the problem reoccured in Eastern povince? Shade more lite. Ime ndakaka kuvootela state funeral in waiting. VIVA kana kasankwa HHHHHHHHHHH.

  103. You pipo thinking HH will make it are really day dreamers, the best he can do is to beat Nyama Soya in third place.Come Sunday President Sata will be sworn in as Zambia’s fourth President.

  104. I will remind Zambians for the last time in this election:- HH is not an issue. SATA can NEVER and WILL NEVER be President in Zambia. Watch the Results as they tickle in. LPM said “SATA will never be President of Zambia as long as i live” I can tell you that even in LPM’s death SATA can NEVER be President. I end here, the results will prove me right.

  105. The thing about MMD is that they can get you “tired”. Watch the work on SATA until he is tired. He will eventually get tired.

  106. There will be no violence, the pontential violence seems eminent with a SATA Victory because All other Political parties seems to be against a SATA Victory which will happen any way.By the way I voted PA BWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  107. Is it just me or are the loudest “pabwatooos” from abroad?! it looks like most of the comments from the people who can ACTUALLY vote at home are saying a different story!!

For all those people at home, make the right choice, whatever we do, lets go with God and let peace prevail. I don’t have much comment on Sata but the man scares me! 1st November, I’m going to be glued to the phone, hoping the relatives at home can give us a good story. Viva Zambia!

  108. ANYONE BUT SATA, I AM FOR HH, BUT IF HE CANT MAKE IT, RB CANT BE A BAD OPTION. GOSH THE OTHER SO CALLED STRONG CONTENDER WILL TAKE US BACKWARDS IN LONG STRIDES. ALL THE SUCCESSES ACHIEVED BY LEVY WILL BE WIPED OFF. VIVA ABS

  109. 164, HOW CAN THEY VOTE, SOME OF US REGISTERED LAST TIME BUT WE ARE NOT HOME NOW. OTHERS BURNT THEIR CARDS IN FRUSTRATIONS AFTER THEIR LEADER LOST ELECTIONS. BA MONKO PA UNZA AND CBU WHO VOTED FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE CAMPUSES HAVE GRADUATED AND COULDN’T TRAVEL TO GO AND VOTE.

  110. The MMD should go in 2011, 20 years is enough. I believe HH can win in 2011 if he matures into politicain. Sata no ways.

  111. its official………. sata has won by 39% of the votes, rupia banda has already consided defeat, those who dout me check the state house web site, congrates ba sata,at last u are in……..

  112. Blogging from Jacaranda – Lusaka Central.
Process took 5 mins from parking vehicle to coming out of the booth. This was 0930hrs in the morning. Such was the low turn out.
    Vast difference from last elections.

Where are all the voters from the rallies?

  113. ati information technology experts in the caption…anyone who has used windows xp and vista can operate these things. thank god bill gates has made computers very easy to use. ifwe when we were learning computers kwali ne fyama change directory nefyashala….

  114. People turned up in numbers to hear what the promises were and when they saw the crooks who supported FTJ with Sata, definately, we have all heard those promises before and evidenced the failute to deliver. Franked by people like Pule imagine!!! better have clean people with you. HONESTLY there is no sig diff between the two candidates in the background in politics – UNIPIST – Kaundaism

  115. By saying Kaundaism,I’m not despising KK but the practices that were let to prevail such as ‘it pays to belong to UNIP’ very exclusionary tendencies for the poor marginalised folks

  116. Apathy Kuno bane! Sadly mainly in PF strongholds….. I do stay in mayadi but voted next door in Chipata Compound and generally compared to last year, low turn out, just spent 30 mins in q not the expected 6hrs. So much for change

  117. Sad that their was Apathy. What happened to all those who attended PF rallies. #175 was it really that fast to vote, no q.

  118. Voted HaHa midday today in Roma. Walked right through to the voting booth – two years ago it took me 2hours to get to the door!!!

In a way am glad because this will sort out the “rent a mob” for rallies in future. HaHa

  119. #179 Who cares? Unless you were just appointed. Life will just be the same for you. Glad Ido not vote. Have never and will never ever do. Not for an African!

  120. Things in Lusaka are the same as last time (2006); PF leading about 3-1 in most places. Like Kabwata PF had more than 600 while MMD and UPND had about 200. Munali was 400-something with RB 119.

  126. papa burrito Phhhht!

Voters shouldn’t vote for Obama-he’ll reaise prices b/c businesses r rich so the’ll increase $$prices.

  127. Chi No 23!!!! what kind of an illiterate, backwardness, tribelistic, villager and shollow thinker are you?? That in this day and age, will someone think of seeing his or her fellow country mates vacate their indegious land because of mare blaming SATA winning for presidency.GO to HELL and kiss the DEVIL yourself and leave Mother ZED, She does not need characters like you.!!!!

  128. If RB wins then Zed is still a one part state…I must mention to you #195 that you and your RB will have a tough time to rule ZED…

  129. why are the results taking so long. its almost lunch hour now. we want free and fair elections. i hope the delay is because you want to be accurate.
