VJ to sue Given Lubinda over rigging allegations

Veteran politician, Vernon Mwaanga, will this week commence legal proceedings against opposition Patriotic Front PF spokesperson Given Lubinda for alleging that he is involved in electoral malpratices.

Mr. Mwaanga said in an interview with journalists in Lusaka on Friday evening that it is unfair for the opposition to claim that he wanted to rig the Presidential election.

He said he is taking legal action in order to clear his name.

In another development, MMD Spokesperson, Ben Tetamashimba has justified a statement from party campaign coordinator, Mbita Chitala, on the projection of the ruling party’s performance in the presidential election.

Mr. Chitala said in Lusaka yesterday that the MMD would win by 62,000 votes.

Mr. Tetamashimba said it would have only been wrong if the projection of the MMD victory was made by the Electoral Commision of Zambia.

He said the projection was made by MMD members from the constituencies where they had been monitoring elections and not through the ECZ.

    DRC has war, There has never been war in Zed, DRC is the richest country in africa in terms of natural resources and that perception makes it expensive regardless. What does Zed have to warrant the high prices. No infrastructure (except shopping malls), No manufacturing or even assembly plants, No cultural and social activities. A country without international artists in any form of art. Its trully a country full of aloof citizens without vision and energy to progress.

The provinces that largely affect the economic stability of the country in terms of employment and production must give a candidate the majority votes compared with other provinces.In these elections we have learnt that the deciding votes have come from citizens, who have minimum comprehension of the effects of urban dwelling, eployment and economic growth.     # 15 aka postmortem. It was on muvitv.com that the presiding officer was caught shoving premarked ballot papers, I think it 31. october. The guy was arrested and shown live on muvitv in Zambia. It was sad for all those who did not want PF to win to see a presiding officer trying to rig in favour of –. The ballots papers were blurred by the TV station but one could make out who was trying to rig. Your guess is probably right.
    As to what has been done? He was put into police custody. Yet to see or better still hear what happens to him.

    It is only right that (for lack of a better example) the vote of an immigration officer at a or a miner, who risk their lives working in unpredictable enviroment and often exposed to health and safety hazards without due consideration, decide who the ultimate winner is.
    The reason behind this logic is that a disatisfied border officer will not work effectively and may be engaged in activities that could compromise the internal security of the country. On the other hand, if the miner goes on strike, production goes down and this affects exports and forex income.
