HH’s UPND officially concedes defeat

Share

The United Party for National Development (UPND) will not petition the election results despite citing a number of electoral malpractices by some parties that participated in the election adding that the petition is a waste of time.

Party president Hakainde Hichilema says the party will now concentrate on providing alternative leadership by formulating policies that can help address challenges the country is faced with.

Mr. Hichilema said his party will also continue to prepare for the 2011 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He described the just-ended presidential polls as the most competitive and exciting elections the country has ever had.

Mr. Hichilima has also thanked Zambians for voting peacefully in the tightly contested polls in which MMD’s presidential candidate Rupiah Banda emerged winner.

He has however expressed concern about the low voter turn out which was attributed to voter apathy among registered voters.

Speaking during a media briefing the opposition party leader also commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for facilitating the October 30 polls professionally despite the pressure on the commission.

He has however called upon government to consider funding ECZ to enable the commission continue carrying out voter registration throughout the country.

He said this will help increase voter turn out once the country is holding an election and ensure a majority vote.

And Mr. Hichilema has disclosed that his party has written to the ECZ on alleged malpractices in the just-ended presidential by election.

And UPND vice president Richard Kapita said the just ended presidential elections provided an opportunity for the party to market its presidential candidate for the 2011 polls.

He said the party has resolved maintain the candidature of Mr. Hichilema because he has become more popular in the country.

  1. Mr President Rupiah Bwezani Banda, please find a very healthy and energetic MAN IN THE MMD OR ELSEWHERE TO be the vice President of Zambia, please. I personally do not need Sata to have another chance of almost winning the Zambian Presidency since you are quite old now. I would like you to search carefully and not to be moved by those who campaigned for you only especially those with questionable reputation and records.Thank you all Zambians for making sure that Sata lost.To president HH,continue doing a noble cause for Zambia. No matter how the MMD copuy your mighty UPND manifesto, they will never succeed in implementing it because an uplifted material will never equal the original one.

  2. “Mr. Hichilema said his party will also continue to prepare for the 2011 presidential and parliamentary elections…He described the just-ended presidential polls as the most competitive and exciting elections the country has ever had…Mr. Hichilima has also thanked Zambians for voting peacefully in the tightly contested polls in which MMD’s presidential candidate Rupiah Banda emerged winner.”
Great and marvellous stuff president Hakainde Hichilema. Lovely indeed for this is how educated minds have to behave – just point out the necessary and leave out unnecessary ‘academic exercvises’ of pertitioning election results. Consider taking UPND Business venture to Luapula and Northern Prov.

  3. I am happy that Hakainde and team have continued the spirit which Mazoka left that of peace and peace and peace and nothing else. They have admitted there were malpractices by some parties it could have been both opposition and MMD, and thank you for conceding defeat and continued the battle on a peaceful front, this explains why even your campaign except two incidents was the most peaceful.

  4. we told these guys(UPND)to partner with PF,but hichilema is too drunk with his wealthy,he doesn’t want to listen to other people, if you wan’t to unseat MMD let’s merge in 2011 and for SATA do not loose hope, you are the man for the poor, and we shall continue supporting you. GOD will one will day punish these bunch of thieves from MMD.

  5. HATS OFF MY MAN HH.LET RB FINISH THEIR TERM BECAUSE EVERYONE IS RREADY FOR YOU IN 2011.I KNOW YOU DID NOT MEAN IT.YOU WERE WARMING UP FOR 2011 THATS WHY YOU DID NOT BOTHER TO HIRE HELICOPTER.SHAME TO THOSE WHO KEEP ON OVER SPENDING AND LOOSING…

  6. #4 continued.

There is absolutely no need for you to partner with the undemocratic PF. However, consider them PF if they will accept to join you under your leadership. NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS and do not be cheated for I can never trust the undereducated PF leader Micheal Chilufya Sata. The exactly 3 years we have before 2011 elections is enough for the UPND to go it alone. We do not need marriages of conviniences that will potentially produce an enlarged CABINET in future. In a nutshell, take careful care always and remember I am with you in everything regarding the cause of offering alternative positive real change to Zambia as a Country and Nation. Zambians, thank you all, YES we can.

  7. How can a petition be a waste of time. U huv no plans for Zambia, u jst wanted that title, the presdnt of zed HH. U don’t know wat u want man. Anyway, we’l mark that and use it for 2011. U r a business man not a politician. Make some more u poor Zambian.

  8. You have shown how matured you Mr president and the victory for MMD is a true indication that come 2011 you will surely lead mother zambia and only educated pipo wud accept defeat and cite any shortcomings like you ve done.

  9. He knows that its not easy to win petitions in Zambia. Otherwise, the elections were riged. How can someone who wins in urban areas fail to win the elections?

  10. Come 2011 I will vote for HH coz he’s the man for Zambia. The only problem in Zambia is we don”t want to give chance to the young and vibrant the sooner you realise the better.

  11. Good HH thus good spirit but remember don’t give up as 2011 is yours because I need energitc person like you next time.

May God bless you and Zambia

  12. XYZ, the UPND supporters said the next best party was MMD, so Banda would still have won albeit with a bigger margin, the next time HH would have gone it alone PF would have called him names like the way they are calling Sakwiba names.

  13. To the whole HH support group and the UPND Team, we have all done well. Let us continue to fight for a sane and better Zambia. Now, we have the numbers from the 2006 and 2008 Presidential elections to work with.

Continue holding rallies across the country. Let us seek ways of enhancing and harnessing the ‘door-to-door’, ‘phone-to-phone’, Internet ‘chat-to-chat’ campaign for HH and the UPND manifesto. Let us find all news material in PRINT, AUDIO and VIDEO which we must use to campaign against the DICTATOR and the MMD’s failures and show these to all voters in rural villages and urban areas by 2010. Together, YES we can and “One Zambia, One Nation.” Thanks you very much you all.

  14. You are conceading defeat because you know that you are far from being a presidednt of Zambia. Shame upon you because of how many hearts you have broken due to your self centredness. God wasnts humble leaders who put country and people’s interst first. You seem to be a person who can’t be advised and there is danger that people of Zambia are realising how much you are a spolier who have hurt a lot of emotions that people invested in their hopes of having MMD reoved fron power. Its a shame that you put to put personal ambition frist before people’s intrest when Michael Sata begged you that PF and UPND members agree on a pact. You did not repont until after nominations.

  15. Thanks HH for showing good leadership over Sata . However, you have a lot of work to do, organize a convention and remodel your party to undo the tribal tag otherwise let some else lead the UPND.

  16. Good boy, HH.

Now ensure UPND becomes a party that any part of ZED can identify with, otherwise you may get urban votes but ruralvotes will go to MMD like happened this time.

Sata’s health may not allow him to be there in 2011. I wonder if PF can survive without Sata. HH may gain from Sata’s absence.

  17. HATS OFF HH.YOU ARE ONE OF THE ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES YOU HAVE EVERY THING -LOOKS,EDUCATION,TENACITY WE WANT IN THE PRESIDENT HOWEVER YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD AND REMOVE THAT TRIBAL STAIN BY MIXING WITH OTHER ZAMBIANS.GOODLUCK 2011.

  18. SATA and RB should not be presidential candidates in 2011. We appreciate the work they did as freedom fighters, but times have changed. We need intelligent, wise, vibrant young men to lead us from 2011 and yonder.

  19. HH knew that if he had formed a pact with sata, there would have been no more elections until God called sata to eternal life becasue sata would have declared himself a life president. Didnt he even say there would be no election in 2011 if he the Oct 30 election? Thank you HH for saving us from the sepernt. And good luck in 2011.

  20. *19 CRUCIAL. YOU ARE A BAD LOSER LIKE YOU LEFT-OVER POLITICIAN.THE SIMPLE REASON HH COULD NOT LET THAT GREENFLY TO RULE BEFORE HIM IS THAT SATANA COULD HAVE MESSED-UP HIS CHANCES IN 2011 BY MESSING UP THIS COUNTRY .PERIOD
IN THIS TIME AND AGE SATA’S CALIBER IS A VERY BIG RISK TO THE NATION.

  21. RB born on 13Feb1937 in Southern Rhodesia is Zimbabwean by birth. Check for Rupiah Banda in Wikipedia. The current constitution calls for second generation Zambians to be president of the country. Is this the bending of the constitution or the MMD is above the constitution?

  22. Congrats HH. Way forward, continue visiting the rural areas more especailly Barotseland, Luapula, Northern and Eastern provinces. Mobilise the urban communities through party acitivities intended to help the youth and articulate national issues more frequently by using the internet. Work on your party membership through door to door campaign and raise your party finances through donations. IN short put up a basket for donations CHANGE INEVITABLE 2011 HH FOR PRESIDENT. Will surely support this cause.

  23. “And UPND vice president Richard Kapita said the just ended presidential elections provided an opportunity for the party to market its presidential candidate for the 2011 polls. He said the party has resolved maintain the candidature of Mr. Hichilema because he has become more popular in the country.”

Great stuff and campaign Mr Richard kapita, let us maintain president Hakainde Hichilema and make sure we leave no stone unturned this time around. General, I know that the UPND has done very well in this election and so let us boost our campaign. UPND meet the voters in person and find out what they want and then let the UPND MPs bring these issues to Parliament. Together, YES we can do it.

  24. Congratulations RB and MMD supporters. HH we are still behind you. VJ thanks for the good job. Sata please retire we dont need your type of breed in Zambian politics. Once again i have to say, VJ thanks for the job well done.

  25. HH its good you ve accepted to be number 3 to you it was just an accademic exercise to enrich your cv come 2011 you will still lose

  26. 19 you dont know what you are talking about. It is Sata who walked out on the talks because he thought he could do it alone. Well he has just confirmed the end of his career.

  27. *14 ZEGOATS.YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO THE VOTERS REGISTER AND DO A LITTLE MATHS BRO AND SECONDLY RURAL DWELLERS VOTE ON REAL ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEM NOT IMAGINARY DREAMS LIKE US TOWN DWELLERS,THIRDLY THERE IS A LOT OF MOB PHYCOLOGY IN URBAN AREAS MOST PEOPLE SUPPORT POLITICAL PARTIES LIKE FOOTBALL TEAMS WITHOUT EVEN UNDERSTANDING WHAT THEY STAND FOR(VERY SURPRISING).

  28. You can do better by brushing aside trible inclinations. i once heard you on national tv answering a caller in tonga. that puts off other tribes from you. i will give you my vote in 2011.

  29. #11 you chose your mind not to work in right mood. it’s unfortunate for a person to say what you’ve just utered and i hope the so called misterious desease is not creaping in. The best way of conceding defeat is not to fight back but plan and learn from your failure. Mr. Hakainde mean peace for our beloved mother Zambian.

  30. Congrats HH for putting up a spirited fight. I admire your determination. Thanks for being principled by not going into a pact with PF. They wanted to use like a ladder and later drop you. Thanks for your wisdom and if you are to enter into a pact, do it with genuine people, not the likes of Sata. For now work on restructuring the party so that it is acceptable country wide. Otherwise I am reserving my 2011 vote for u.

  31. Well spoken HH. Your time is near. Like Paguza said, continue visit other provinces i.e North western, Eastern, Copperbelt and Luapula. Raise your profile and erase the tribal image, and the people of zambia will reward you.

  32. UPND, are you surely satisfied with 19% votes achieved by HH ? Why have you failed to market your party in Lusaka and Copperbelt ? And you pipo are not serious….how could you say that the election was exciting when many pipo are still mourning the loss on the copperbelt and in Lusaka. This is why you will never be visible in these areas. As we continue mourning, remeber 2011 is not far. And we ve marked you you as am MMD sympathiser so forget about our vote in 2011. Because of what u ve said, the state media will give you adequate coverage today on ZNBC and in tomorows print media. But remember that you have CHOSEN NOT TO MOURN WITH US,SO NO VOTE 4 YOU IN 2011.

  33. Big up my president HH. I am proud of you.

What a shame for mother Zambia. Being headed by the sleepy RB (& his teenager wife). MMD, a party popular in the remote areas just because pipo there are illeterate but the civilised Zambians and neighbours that pay them thru various taxes said no as displayed during last week’s elections. See me on the next flight outta here.

  34. Line 29, You are really a good analyst. I remember that you told all those who were for PF to know that RB had an upper hand. This is what has happened. RB has done it!

  35. HH has capacity to see and analyse Issues. This is why HH has accepted the election results, and commended the ECZ. You do not expect UPND to behave like some other opposition parties which dont even agree on what to say. I was shocked to hear that Lubinda was not aware of the document that SATA had when he stormed the media at Mulungushi. I fact he looked shokes at the journalists as they asked him as a spokesman for the party. But I know hes was not surprised by his president because he is familiar with the conduct by now.

  36. HAKAINDE WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT FOR ZAMBIA. you who think he has what it takes i invite you to watch this space as the three years before 2011 tick away. a new yet so undeniable challenger in the race to plot 1 is about to be unveiled. Also watch your HH disappear into political irrelevance and oblivion as we showcase THE MAN.

  37. HAKAINDE WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT FOR ZAMBIA. you who think he has what it takes i invite you to watch this space as the three years before 2011 tick away. a new yet so undeniable challenger in the race to plot 1 is about to be unveiled. Also watch your HH disappear into political irrelevance and oblivion as we showcase THE MAN not long from NOW.

  38. HH is real, Next time my man you will be considered, just continue pushing but there must be a way of changing the pattern of voting in Tongas.

  39. #11. It’s a shame that Zambia has the likes of you. Learn from the past as you are living in the present being the person who’s stepping in the future. You are the only alien in ZED who doesnt know the history of presidential petitions. Wise up big man & dont forget that easily

  40. HH will not progress any higher he has peaked out. It is time to look elsewhere for a leader for the next generation without any tribal luggage.

  41. I sincerely sympathise with HH; VJ should have rigged for a fellow Tonga and he would today receive congrats but rigged for “WAKO NI WAKO” Lets wait & see how he’ll be rewarded in the “UMODZI KU MAWA” government, maybe he’ll be given a Ngoni name so that he qualifies for a the post of Vice President, having risked so much for his life, dragged from hospital bed, fresh with bandages on the head, to go and rig for Nyama Soya

  42. Now that’s being mature as a card carrying MMD member i fear the worst in 2011 because Hakaivotela Hachilema will be a formidable opponent…..only if he can promise that cattle wont have a right of passage in urban areas and that he wont force us to use “HA” before every word.

  43. The thing about all those that oppose HH is that they are the ones that are tribalist. Just because he is tonga, you think he is a tribalist. The fact of the matter as it stands is that Zambians cant stand the thought of being ruled by a level headed man, worse that he is Tonga. You shall remain in poverty..chindi chanu!

  44. # 42, kitwe resident. Most of us are not happy about the just ended elections but what can u do besides conceading defeat. That is the spirit for a true leader. What makes u think he is happy to loose these elections after all the campaigns. If u are mourning then take your tears elsewhere becoz no one can do anything about it now becoz banda was sworn in so pls dont blame other pipo for your failure. Just work hard for 2011. In the mean time, hats off to HH, this shows how democratic u are. We are behind u come 2011 and we shall wage a seroius fight in lsk and copperbelt to shame pipo like kitwe resident. Indeed these elections were very exciting.

  45. There goes our man, accepting defeat in an honorable way.Now that Kapita should shut up,our party needs to hold a convention to let the party members decide whether we continue with HH or someone else comes in.

  46. Iwe Hehehehehe! I want to read what you write but its just too bulky. If you can be brief/precise to the point then I’ll benefit. I tend to skip all bulky postings and only read those which are 6 or less lines. They usually are well summarized. Don’t dump your entire brain here.

  47. #49, 50. You can hang with you opinion. That’s the problem with mother ZED, it’s so infested with pipo who cant see the great like despite that the good GOD gave them eyes. You are always satisfied with the worst. You think the worst is good enough. Wise up, the worst is still the worst. HH can bring about economic emancipation for ZED, not Sata/ RB. We need new and improved breed of politicians inna mi land.

HH is young but more mature than the old bullies as displayed in his campaigns and the above remarks.

  48. if HH went to partner with Sata then he must be on top. iam neither UPND or PF but i cant stand a Kaponya, grade 4 dropout who expelled almost all his MPs in plot 1, campaigns in his native language through out the country when he knows we have 72 languages and the officil is english. his prty slogan is in his native languge and he expects to apeal to all the languages. Please VJ open up a political so that these kaponyas who still believe rigging exiosts can have some strategy.

  49. Good boy HH, no use crying over spilt milk, especially when you look at teh numbers of eligible voters across Zambia not just Southern province and Lusaka and Copperbelt….Keep it up. Work with us and we shall deliver 2011 on a silver plate, badaala.

  50. I WAS SUPRISED TO SEE PEOPLE SUPPORTING RATHER VOTING FOR HH WHILE THE OWNER VOTED FOR RUPIA BANDA.DOES IT MAKE SENSE?

  51. HH,don’t let the tribal tag weigh u down, jst be smart about it.It is one way of putting u offtrack.Just concentrate on proving that you are capable of deliverying. U are young, educated and dream-driven. You can do it! Jst work hard for it, face your challenges fearless.

    All the best of luck!

  52. WHERE ARE THOSE NOISY PF CADRES LIKE OSAMA? WHEN A FEW OF US TOLD U THAT U CAN NEVER WIN WITH SATA AS YOUR PRESIDENT U SAID WE HAVE NO BRAINS. THANK GOD THAT SATAN SNAKE LOST BECAUSE OF HIS SELFISHNESS JUST LIKE HH. A PACT WOULD HAVE WON U THE ELECTION BUT THAT IS WHAT IS WHAT U REEP FOR THEIR DESPERATION. YOU CALLED LPM CABBAGE,HE BEAT U. U CALLED RB NYAMA SOYA, HE STILL BEAT U.IT’S TIME FOR SATA TO QUIT. SOMEONE HINTED HE IS IN EGYPT,IS IT TRUE HIS BP IS BAD? OR HE IS UP TO SOMETHING? ADVISE HIM TO CONCEAD DEFEAT LIKE HH& GM LEST HE SHOWS US THE EVIDENCE FOR RIGGING.

  53. Thanks for showing political maturity despite just being new in this game, unless some old and perpetual failure (PF) leader who thinks going to the court will help. The world won’t listen to him bcoz they really did not want him to be president.HH you are gentleman. Now start planning to take ur party to all parts of Zambia.

  54. The game is over now. Let us move on for our national development. The mathematics in politics is based on voter registration region by region visa viz party stronghold. Thanks young man.2011 is yours. SATA has no stronghold. His province could not give him the descive vote. Let him conceed defeat. Pertitions will never work in Zambia. the Chief Justice is there to protect his job.HH reach out to other provinces through youth programmes sponsored by UPND.

  55. HH should think of forming a pact now with SATA, otherwise come 2011 if HH and SATA decide to stand on their on, MMD will still win the elections. HH can never win the elections if stood alone.

  56. HH start poaching those disgruntled PF MPs now. They are 27, if you can get them. You will get a chunk in PF territory hence grow out of the southern province. You have the money just go entice them to your camp. Its proven now your alliance with PF will never take off.So, start campaigning now.

  57. HH has peaked. UPND needs to reverse the negative and downward trend it has been on since HH came on the scene. 2011 will see UPND get even less votes and MPs than it did in 2006 and 2008. UPND needs to act now whilst there is still time or 2011 will be their EPILOGUE.

  58. Most people know the job of a doctor, a lawyer but an economist? People do not understd what HH,has to offer to mother Zambian, his an economist, does this ring a bell? Zambians, the youth “future leaders” pliz this is our answer!

  59. HH, you will always appeal to the young and educated, start campaigning for the Voters’ Register updating now, not a month before elections.Encourage the young guns of zambia to register, go online, talk to them, involve them now, these young guns will carry you over the line during the race.I like your policies tho I belive you need abit charisma when talking, work on that, hire a speech specialist, develop good PR and ignore southern province for now, go western, nothern and eastern.Develop your rural and urban structures in these provinces and recruit foot soldiers now.

  60. HH has a favourable future ahead of him because he is slowly eating into the decisive rural vote. He did well not to let sata use him by forming a pact between PF and UPND. Plus I doubt if pipo who support HH could have voted for sata. Its like saying the pipo who supported hilary Clinton will automatically vote for sarah palin’s team, not true.

  61. #42, Kitwe Resident, you are very shallow minded. You want UPND to mourn with you as though you are the only losers in these Elections!!! Why do you PF chaps rate yourselves so highly? UPND are also mourning, there were a lot of discrepancies but our mode of mourning is different from that of PF because unlike you and your symbol, we do not believe in war and time wasting in Court.

PF hooligans are always blaming others for their loss. Move on and concede defeat. I am also very happy HH did not go into that marriage of convenience because by today he would have been irrelevant to the Cobra. Biggest example, Sekwiba Sikota.

Viva HH, Viva 2011, Zambia Forward

  62. according to the voting parttern which we experienced i think hh should just merge with other parties or else even in 2011 he will not win period. UPND will never win whether you like it or unless they put someone else who is not tonga. Upnd is associated with tribalism and upnd made a mistake by putting hh instead of sakwiba . period . in these elections only in southern province thats where hh received overwhelming support period. So my advise to hh is to step down and leave room for some else from another tribe

  63. The difference between HH and SATA is that HH knows democracy. He knows that elections result into loser(s) and a winner. SATA does not know that because he does not practice elections in his party, so he can’t know what has happened to him when he is told you have lost.
RB deserves to be congratulated. The man is sober. After the post had done all they did as a leader he simply thanks them for helping to make the name ‘Rupiah’ a household name. He says activities of campaign are a thing of the past, now we go to work. That is a leader!

  64. Thanx HH for the wise words, it shows how educated you are. You really did good not to enter into a pact with Sata, slowly he will lose meaning into our political scene. just organise yourself and make sure you campaign in areas where you lost.

  65. HH, I am sure you now know what the benefits of shear arrogance are. You refused to gang up with PF because of your selfishness. Anyway with your Billions and your extravagant campaigns it means nothing until the day you will be broke. Several politicians before you have come with their billions have flashed their cash and it has ended there. Youngman I hope you ve learnt a lesson, you failed packed with SATA should have definitely worked in your favour in the long term. The problem is that you seem to be short term focused. Be strategic.

  66. Next steps for HH:

    1) Organise a Convention before 2011 elections. This way, you will shake off the tribal tag that Fred Mmembe and his propaganda newspaper put on you.

    2) Continue campaigning in rural areas. In most cases, you were coming out second to RB, and this is a good sign. In some cases, Sata was getting less votes than miyanda.

    3) Do not accept a position in the MMD govt. You are your own man.

    4) Do not ever think of forming a pact with PF, no matter how much people say you are dividing the opposition. Why cant SATA join you and support for the presidency? He will only use you and dump.

  67. I THINK HH WAS BOUGHT BY MMD SO THAT SATA DOESNT GO THRU, I PITY YOU. I THINK YOU WERE PROMISED A VP BY RB, NOW I KNOW YOU

SHAME ON YOU NO PRINCIPLES AT ALL.

  68. HH should be ready to have other party members contest his leadership otherwise he will be seen to be undemocratic. He has lost twice and got votes in the same areas as last time. He certainly is not inspirational to the Tongas.

  69. Thumbs up HH. the likes of u are our future leaders. we need more leaders like you. keep the fire burning cos in 2011, we are taking them like a hurricane

  70. Akaabuta mpuuti mu state house, meaning a young lady in state house. you will see very little of me until HH and PF come together.

  71. RB is President, rejected by 60% of the voters.Lets have a new constitution before 2011 so that that the 50+1 clause is implemented. These “minority” presidents waste time and resources trying to build their images and gain legitimacy.Another president picked from retirement!

  72. Guys the veep is going to be Bwalya Chiti, just wait till the new cabinet is announced. I suspect Chiluba is already punicking after the speech by RBB that the fight against corruption will continue. Sata will never rule Zambia. He will just die without ever even being a vice president.

  74. Pardon my ignorance, but who is Bwalya Chiti? HH and Miyanda have both done well to concede. Sata should follow this example to ensure we maintain peace in our beloved Zambia.

  75. HH,i like yo determination.Despite baised media coverage u still put up a spirited fight.Sata had the post as his mouth piece but could not make it still, imagine if some paper had endorsed him,it cud have been terrible for mmd.

  76. I think hh should have merged with sata, they would have won and it was going to be an advantage for hh in 2011 or 2016 to be the republican president looking at the age of sata. now he has missed this opportunity and i dont think he will ever win because the majority of people look at upnd as a tribal party. the other thing that have noticed is that people who aspire for the presidence they dont get it e.g dean mungomba, chama chakomboka, mazoka, kapwepe , ben mwila etc.. watch out for 2011 you see the fifth president who as now we dont know , mark my words.

  77. It is sad that some people dont understand democracy. How can you say RB won by rural vote so he must become a rural president? In democracy when you have majority vote it does not who voted you become ruler of all. I believe people saying that come from parties that hold no elections so it is not easy for them to undersatnd the concept of elections. I hope with time everyone in Zambia will understand the meaning of the ballot; it is not to devide the country. What is amazing is that people making such statement are in town, and yet all villagers understand the purpose of election so well. Now I know that even people in villages can educate some of our colleages in town about democracy.

  78. miss zambia (#91), kuzilaika ba tonga……if thats the case, why this tonga man HH with so much money??? Surely he must be sharp. you have it in you that Tonga’s are shippish, its those that say they are shippish who are actually shippish!

  79. #88 Sata was part of the Government that rejected 50+1 in 1996, there is nothing he will tell us. #91 hold your peace, ba bemba nabo payela, you should have seen the way they regrouped, Machungwa, Sampa, Pule (of all people), GBM (of all people), Willie Nsanda mai we! So leave us alone we have more credibility than you, I just feel I should defend my tribe, this has gone on for too long.

  80. #93 Bwalya Chiti used to own Telecel and now Savannah Media, he wanted to contest MMD vice presidency together with Austin Chewe, Mpondela and I donot know who else, they campaigned corruptily and Mwanawasa froze the post period!

  81. HH you are the next president of Zed. your maturity and approach to issues speaks for itself. We do not need leaders like Sata who even after losing clearer can not accept defeat. He is confused and doesn’t know what to do next, how to pay his credits accumulated during the elections. Anyway, i do not blame him, i blame the post newspaper and lusaka times fro cheating him that he was popular

  82. No. 4,5&6 That is why HH will not rule this nation because we do not people who are wish-wash in the opposition like him. LUSAKA & CB HAVE SPOKEN, WE WANT PEOPLE WHO ARE RESOLVED LIKE SATA, AND NOT PEOPLE WHO EASILY CHICKEN OUT WHEN THEY ARE BEATEN

  83. A man of real dignity, cuts his losses and moves on to the real issues at hand, the interests of the Zambian people. Iam giving this man my vote in 2011 God willing I will be alive to see him win. Iam really impressed at his maturity.

  84. #77 What is so special about other tribes than tonga? you are the one with a problem for not voting for him because his tonga. gentalmen be civilised.

  85. # 84, Milo, baseless and useless points. For your own information, UPND is a party that is standing on its own. So pls stop your rubbish becoz its baseless.

  86. Imwe ba UPND please bola panshi. Mr. Hichilema sir, on your own you can not and will never make it. Agree to work under someone (PF) to help you establish yourself. Looking at your perfomance country wide 2006 and 2008, you have support in only one province (your tribes mate) You are still young and can still wait for 10 years and make a better president. You are partly to blame that we are still under MMD. And our people in the south please learn to analyse and see who can win at national level. 300,000 votes wasted just like that. That is why sometimes you are accused of tribalism.imwe kano fye uwenu. Awe bane muchinjeko.

  87. # 103, Dux, Zambia is not lsk or copperbelt pls get this into your mind. There is more to this country. If these are the 2 provinces that spoke then we would have had someone else being sworn in yesterday so instaed u should say that the majority zambians have spoken period. Another thing conceading defeat has nothng to do with being a coward. U concead becoz u are a democrat.

  88. 107 – you are such a tribal shuvenist! you should be ashamed of writing such stuff, you are the one who sounds very tribalist and highly opinionated against Tonga’s . Show some respect man!

  89. #101 we get attacked and think that someone will come to our aid, it is so unfortunate that people have given us this label of being tribalist yet some of us are married from northern province, what kind of northerners are these, the bemba’s I know are very humble people, speak to Bwalya Ng’andu, and he is a gentleman, I personally think tribe (culture) only has maybe 2% influence on someone’s social interaction. I am actually annoyed now, I do not engage in tribal talk but this is too much.

  90. I WANT TO AGREE WITH DUX, HH IS A LET DOWN. SO SOON AND YOU ARE COMMENDING THE CROOKS FROM ECZ-AFTER ALL THE TRICKERY THAT HAS BEEN DISPLAYED (KALABO SAGA, PARALLEL 2006-2008 VOTER REGISTERS)

  91. #107, tupeniko abashi pepa fwaka wa tooni, then we will look in your direction, not ati “YOU ARE THE BLOODY REPORTER” on Muvi TV live, awe guys you can do better, inga bena Patrick Chisanga why haven’t they joined PF, that will give us confidence in PF, when Dr Mulenga speaks, he speaks with authority and tact, better than your President. If truth be told, HH was about the only modern candidate we had. Just admit and close this argument.

  92. 110 just check HH’s performance, if you are honest enough you will agree with me that he did well just where he hails from. Nothing against the tongas but let them just make goog judgement if the candidate being voted for has national appeal. Sata even lost in some constituencies were he comes from meaning the people there were looking at the election issue broadly. You can refuse the tribal tug but who has not noticed the tong biasness in the last three elections?

  93. 50+1, will be trick in Zambia. Since 91, no losing candidate has ever conceded defeat. Kaunda did not, Mungomba did not, Mazoka, Sata had twice refused. Imagine the chaos, if we had to go for a re-run? Sata would for to court, so the re-run would wait and after the court had their say, a re-run maybe after two years etc. Why not proportional like Namibia and South Africa, were number of MPs is determined by percentage of votes and parliaments elects president?

  94. # 107, HH had a very poor performance in the north and luapula becoz of one sata. In some polling stations he was geting zero so if u accuse the tongas of being tribal then i dont know but my gathering this time around was that Norhterners, those from Luapula, East and South voted on tribal lines becoz anyone from these provinces i’ve mentioned was geting good results from thier own provinces. My appeal to fellow zambians is to stop this scourge called tribalism & lets start voting for quality instead of wako ni wako. Can u imagin if we had pipo from 8 provinces standing with an exception of lsk and CB & all of us decided to vote on tribal lines, would we surely have a good leader like that

  95. Great HH we surely need you to win in 2011. Please dont go into hybernation like you did speak and stand for the poor whenever need arises…

  96. #112, bring evidence that the election was rigged, I have been observing election since 1991, this is about the best election ECZ has organised, what happened to your agents at the polling stations, nangu mwalibika bakaponya who cannot count, Edwin Mumbi your SG said he was happy with the process what changed between Tuesday and thursday last week which made the election incredible, be consistent that is why when you need pacts people start doubting if you will maintain the same line of thought two days later. Guys reorganise yourselves, get a convension, let Sata be elected or de-elected and then you can speak democracy.

  97. Salayandavich –00–you like many zambians just have a thing against been ruled by a tonga….period! You just dont have anything good to say about the tonga folk!

  98. #114 I have the elections results table in front of me as I am talking also examine Sata’s performance in areas where he has ethnic inclination. Even in the US there are republican and democrat states, that is regionalism except they do not take off their clothes when they lose. So the non participating provinces in the zambian elections are what we would call, “swing states” and this is a fact.

  99. HAKAYIVOTELA HACHILEMA has good character but i dont want to be eating mabisi after 2011 or be caught in traffic with cows, its better we put Hakayivotela Himwine on the side till NEC give us our candidate, preferrably Kalombo Mwansa or ba mayo ba Maureen.

  100. 116 Sata won 4 provinces, Luapula, Northen CB and Lusaka. HH one province only Southern. Now can a person who is popular in one province ever win? I for one love the youg man but as long as he is just popula in the south, it is very imposible for him to win. Let him be start under some one then he stands a chance. Tuloleshepo bwino apa bane.

  101. Those who are condeming ECZ and talking of rigging seem to be a number, but I am shocked that none of them has raised any single reason why they believe the elections were rigged. Anyway, this is no strange message from them they, started talking during campaign and even impounded many vehicles, an excersie which proved futile but causing a lot of apathy on the electorate who ended saw no need to vote as they lost faith in the outcome of the elections.

  102. It is very wrong to thing that God is a ‘town boy’. God can use anything and anyone to give us a leader for we are equal before his eyes. This time He has used the rural community just like He did in 2006. I want to sincerely thank the rural people with all my heart. I know not many of you will read this from the villages but those of you in the villages who will read what I have written please tell you friends that ‘Fine!’ says thank you all rural people for helping us shape our country’s destiny. Even in next elections please turn out in numbers to do what you did. God bless you!

  103. NOSIKU MY DEAR DONT BE NAIVE! THESE ELECTIONS WERE NOT FREE AND FAIR FROM THE WORD GO-LUSAKA AND CB REPRESENTS THE WHOLE POPULATION OF ZAMBIA ie ALL THE 72 TRIBES AND IF HH WANTS TO RULE THIS NATION HE BETTER UNDERSTAND THIS! YOU ARE SAYING THIS BECAUSE YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE ABJECT POVERTY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAVE VOTED FOR MMD ARE GOING THRU- SATA IS TRYING TO HELP BUT ARE TOO BLINDED BY A BAG OF FERTILIZER PROMISED TO THEM NOW AND FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS CONTINUE SUFFERING AND TROUBLING US IN TOWNS AGAIN TO SEND THEM FOOD TO EAT-CHEAP POLITICS!

  104. Ba 117 bandawe, pls help stop this tribalism u condem. How do u expect the tongas to feel when u say such a thing about them. Speak about HH as UPND president and leave his tribe alone. Wake up and realise that zambia is tearing into pieces becoz of pipo like u who talk carelessely about other tribes. We all have to work together to stop this problem of tribalism. Iam Namwanga and iam so far away from tongas but i feel pipo like u are contributing to these divisions the country has. Change my friend.

  105. 120 i have nothing against the tongas. I have alot of Tonga friends. Any one can rule as long as he is a zambian. Hichilema I still insist needs to start under some one not just Sata. On his own whether we like it or not, he is not popular country wide to win. He is after all young to wait even for ten years

  106. HH is a gentleman and has qualities and attributes of a great and democratic leader of to day. His campaigns are not violent. When any one defects from his party UPND do not demonise or stone the house or those of relatives. The party members are the most pieceful.
The apart from Livingstone he won all constituencies in southern Prov. and was No 2 in Eastern, western, and Northwestern Prov. This means if Lusaka and copperbelt can be reorganised then 2011 can be yours. Further Politics is not just removing people from power u are supposed to belive on the dream of this country, the values, the principle, and the direction. Do not partner with other parties for the sake of it.

  107. You people who suggest a pact btwn HH and Sata don’t take time to analyse issues. It’s good UPND went it alone and now they will be able to asses their popularity. Last time they teamed up with UNIP and FDD therefore it was kind of difficult to knw how popular the mighty UPND is. We don’t need a “marriege” with people like Sata. The man is a nuisense and thank heavens he lost.
UPND is the future of Zambia this is what any well meaning Zambian will tell u. To all you our members i say continue the good cause and make people understand the importance of a viable leader to an economy and do this without vulgar language because this is our character.
    GOD Bless Lads and Gents!!

  108. The PF supporter believe they ve the right to rule. This is a democracy. people vote for the one they like and the majority rules. If Sata had listened in 1996 when the civil society and the general citizenry cried for 50+ 1% majority vote for the president this time he could have had a chance. This man defended the defective constitution with Chitalu Sampa, Peter Machungwa, and others. because it was gud for them. Now he is paying the price. and the country is paying more money to change this defective constitution.
He should now retire because the comedy is now over. We need a serious President

  109. Fine or whatever! i will tell you why ECZ rigged the elections-to protect themselves from losing their jobs anb being prosecuted for plundering govt resources in the name of fake allowances

  110. AT 14 hrs today i bumped into sata near farmer’s house as i was going to AON.i’m UPND but i felt sorry for the old man,he was walking like someone sleep walking,he could barely hear and respond to pipo greeting him.i felt pity, pliz dont mek fun of his loss.he is human and the state he was in was very bad.Lets not rejoice at other pipo’s misfortunes.

  111. #135 thanks for putting a face behind this phenomenon. Sometimes we get carried out in our criticisms forgetting that there are real human beings behind these stories. My heart goes out to the old man Sata. Though I can never vote for him, he is human and I can only imagine what he must be going through right now. I hope his true friends didnt jump out of the boat as it was going down. PF supporters please cheer your president up; he needs you. Tell him you are still with him. Im truly touched

  112. 129 Namukolo, you are right we ve to work together to stop triblism and this is exactly what iam doing here. To look for aleader that is appealing and popular national wide. If there is regionalism about this we talk against it. Look at the factors and you will see it ya namukolo.

  113. I find HH’s statement incomplete. First Conceed defeat, Congrats RB and then work on plan for 2011. I do not think he has accepted that elections were free & fair. So how can he and his party move own. I want leaders who can learn to appreciate others who have done better than them…. remember…that’s how you win independents like me from CB. It’s by being honesty!

  114. As long as you have a personality centered political system, you are going to have voting primarily based on tribe. We need to move away from this type of politics and instead focus on the party philosophies because that should be the basis of how they govern. If you remove Sata out of PF then PF ceases to exist. If you remove HH from UPND, there is no UPND. That is just sad.

  115. #132..You appear intelligent, but when you use your fingers, the effect is spoiled. Kalikubika mu chibe akasungu ai?

  116. What happened to the UPND of Mazoka which almost swept Lusaka, western, northwestern and Central? not forgeting Southern?

  117. #142. Mazoko was inclusive-not tribal like HH. As long as HH does not apoligize to people who were offended by that tribal tag during their convention, he is toast! What else can explain his defeat?- He has all the Presidential qualities but for one- tribal!

  118. The main problem with HH is that there is general mistrust of him stemming from their convention. UPND supporters and leaders would be wise to accept this and make attempts to allay peoples fears. What took place at the convention needs to be seriously addressed by him. As long as what took place is glossed over or dismissed, UPND will continue to fail despite having a candidate with great potential.

  119. What can we say!!! you are a good loser,no wonder Sata felt threatened by you joining the pact!!!
HH wait for me am on my way to support you!!!

  120. If we dnt fight for free and fair , who is going to do it for you? it is our generation that needs to change things for the better.

  121. If we dnt fight for free and fair elections , who is going to do it for you? it is our generation that needs to change things for the better.

  122. #144, Ici Shinka, you wrote “The main problem with HH is that there is general mistrust of him stemming from their convention. UPND supporters and leaders would be wise to accept this and make attempts to allay peoples fears. What took place at the convention needs to be seriously addressed by him. As long as what took place is glossed over or dismissed, UPND will continue to fail despite having a candidate with great potential.”
Do not worry yourself for the UPND will certainly hold a General A s s e m b l y in 2010/11 to usher in a new group to lead the party. My only hope is that the UPND superdelegates will vote president HH to lead the mighty UPND for a 2nd Term, so continuity thrives.

  123. Hats off hh,u are a giant in the making, its gonna be more tight becoz am sure u will have competition from chirwa if hes gonna stand.going to court is a waste of time in zambia.am behind u day in and out

  124. Sugar Papa, tell us about Tribalism. HH has never been tribal. Go back and read thru history. The Problem with most people speak without facts. The Power Sharing pact which Mazoka left was that Presidency will be at that time be rotating. And will be at that time come from the Tonga. It was written. The vice Presidency was from Western and Northern, etc. When He died the people invoked the memo of understand and said we need a Tonga as earlier agreed. HH had never inclined to this Tribalism u all talked about. The delegates who voted for him came from all 9 provinces and were not Tongas. Those who uttered these words are those that left because they wanted Saki to be president, but he lost.

  125. You are a real man. It takes one to concede defeat. May be you are presidential material after all. Make sure you contest in 2011. You were talking sense in all your campaigns. The right time will come for you.

  126. Prof Chirwa will not be allowed to contest in MMD. He is clean. In Zambia people have problems with rich CVs they like Pulling them Down OR(PHD). The only thing Prof can do is team up with another rich CV like HH. Then if they do a better job, they will end the waisted years of Political prostitution and mediocrity. Violency, corruption, bribery, and parasitical existence in Politics.

  127. #154, UMUGAZEBO and FAMILY, greetings to you. Your suggestion is very excellent and I have been writing about the same of some time now. However, Chirwa looks to be aiming to clinch the MMD position which he will not be aloowed to get I am sure. The best Chirwa can do according to me is to join the winning team – the mighty UPND – so that all learned people can contribute to the sectors of their speciality effectively and to move Zambia in the best FORWARD direction.

Have a blessed day and keep well. Remember to continue our door-to-door campaigns for 2011 HH and UPND.

  128. The possible Prof Chirwa move into the mighty UPND will help to pool Eastern Province resources espcially that President Banda will possibly not leave an Easterner to run for Zambian President under the MMD ticket. One of Former President Kaunda’s son, Panji probably, was in the UPND 2008 Eastern Province campaign Team.

So, let Prof. Chirwa think properly and we will be able to move Zambia forward together as “One Zambia, One Nation.”

  129. HH IS A TONGA AND THERE IS NOTHING TO APOLOGISE FOR ONE’S TRIBE. YOU WHO ARE TRIBALIST SHOULD JUST STOP THIS UNPRODUCTIVE TRIBAL DEBATE AND VOTE FOR THE BEST CANDIDATE IN 2011. IF IT SHALL BE HH THEN WHY NOT VOTE FOR HIM.

  130. #150, what you just stated confirms what many have stated. Which is that HH was selected,in part, on the basis of his tribe. The mention you make of the nine provinces is irrelevant because it was a powerful click within the party that took control of the proceedings. Anyways, I am glad you shed some light on what took place. IF that is indeed what took place then UPND should just make it clear, embrace it and allow people to make their own decision about it.

  131. Only blind people in the mind will continue to dispute the past. It is nice to see both former Zambian Presidents Chiluba and KK happy at the inauguration ceremony for President RBB. How lost between Sata’s image builders the POST and ba-Chiluba. Imagebuilders of course lost. Ba-Chiluba (Hon. Doctrate, Malawi) has finally dribbled Sata 3 times in a roll or is it called a Hat-trick by ba-Chiluba over Sata.

As I used to write that “wina azanena YES pakati pa NO”, indeed PF cadres will say YES with time amidst their current word NO. Viva RBB and MMD for ensuring Sata is a Zambian-Politics-Exclude.

  132. Unless you reflect on the mistakes made in the past and avoid them, you have no future. Its not blindness, its wisdom.

  133. #150 and 159, whatever the case; president Hakainde Hichilema was not the only Tonga who was a Presidential Candidate at the UPND 2008 Convention. He actually won through being elected by UPND superdelegates from all 9 Zambian provinces. On #158,I am with you that HH is a Tonga and there is no need to apologise about that.I am equally a REAL TONGA and I do not and will never apologise to anyone on this fact that I am a Tonga by tribe. The Zambian Republican Constitution also allows me as an individual to choose what associations I need to belong to as it does to all Zambians. With this, I am urging those that want to be our (UPND) time wasters to go and waste time elsewhere. All r welcome tho.

  134. #160 follows the nice pictures in w w w . lusakatimes . c o m / ? p = 5245

I just like to see how Former President FTJ Chiluba (Hon. Doctor, Malawi) dribbled Sata 3 times in a roll – a reall and nice hat-trick. I wrote about it before the elections that ba-Chiluba will help us to dribble Sata and cause Sata to lose. How nice to see how ba-Chiluba has helped my country Zambia to be without a dictator as Zambian President.

Huts off ba-Chiluba, please hang on for you might just help us dribble Sata again in 2011. Take care and be blessed. The good Lord, God, surely forgives and please confess anything that is not yet right between you and God.

  135. #162, No one should apologize for their tribe. I don’t recall asking for an apology from you or any other REAL TONGA. That point is irrelevant. Whether or not HH was “the only” Tonga there is insignificant if #150s point is accurate. The intention was to elect a Tonga, period. I am glad HH competed and was selected due to his credentials. People I have spoken to have no issue with his selection based on academic or career “credentials”, it is the fact that one of those required credentials was his tribe.

  136. #164, I understand your “I don’t recall asking for an apology from you or any other REAL TONGA.” In case it was beyond you, I addressed both #150 and you (check out “#150 and 159” in #162. above). I hope that is enough to indicate that my comments their had a double implication: one for #150 about the rotating UPND presidency by tribe and the other for you on 2 Tonga people who contested the UPND prsidency with Sakwiab Sikota – Lozi person – of which UPND superdelegates from all 9 Zambian Provinces settled for president Hakainde Hichilema because of his great campaign to them at the 2006 UPND convention. In case you have been injured in any way, sorry and I hope you understand and forgive me.

  137. Apology accepted. However, I don’t think #150 made any comments that would warrant your statement regarding apologizing. If anything #150 was attempting to defend HH and make apparent the standing agreement that resulted in what transpired at the convention, based on his/her knowledge of the events.

The Lozi person you speak of was sidelined and intimidated. The superdelegates were really only given one option because other/s Tonga/s stepped aside.

  138. #10.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe!
I got your points very well at a different forum, but your view of thinking is very dangerous! You did confess that you are Tonga, and I do have respect for every tribe, but when you can’t read between the lines or the writings on the white wall, it’s extremely dangerous just as little education is dangerous! The idea of going into an election all by yourself is what has made us to be in this situation of having RB. Greedness of HH and SATA at the expense of the Zambian people!
I come from Chipata, but do not think RB is the better candidate! All he was talking about is continuity of LEVY’s Legacy, but how can he do that when he has the rejected & fired thieves?

  139. HH must just step down and let someone else take over the reigns. He has tried twice and failed this should tell him something. The UPND needs to be serious overhauled for 2011 otherwise they are not getting votes.Andy refused to step down when it was time and this led to the departure of Bob and this was the beginning of the UPND demise which unfortunately doesnt seem to change. The UPND still has a chance to be a viable opposition but really if they are to get my vote in 2011 i need to see some changes now.

  140. #166, great stuff and lovely. The thing now is that let us move forward. What is at stake here is not president HH or Tonga but that the mighty UPND possesses a document – UPND manifesto – which clearly addresses that needs of Zambia as a Country and Nation. So, let all those who believe in the UPND manifesto which late Mazoka and others possibly including president HH came up with to support the UPND. We have only exactly 3 years to campaign for that UPND manifesto. MMD under late Mwanawasa tried to copy that manifesto but Minister Magande failed to implement it because he does not probably know how to effect it properly and his MMD colleagues have different views on it. Let us move on.

  141. #167, you have a very good point. Can you believe that this is the second time that the MMD has won BECAUSE of the opposisitions failure to put self interest aside and focus on the public good? The opposition combined got almost 60% of the vote compared to MMD. That is a clear indication that people are tired of MMD and want to see a change. This election was the oppositions to lose and they lost it because they thought they could use the same strategy as before and get different results. We will see what happens come 2011, when MMD is stronger than it is now.

  142. #10.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe!
Look at the thieves in MMD, they have accepted the idea of having a president from any other tribe, but what do we have in UPND and PF? And these are the same chaps who are putting tax payers Zambians in a delicate situation, hence villagers from my own village in Chipata and the rest of the Country deciding our fate as they are easily bought using sugar and mealie meal!
Infact, I have resolved not to send them money for having voted like that, so that they feel how it is not to have money! One can not have luxury at the expense of hard working people who pay tax! It’s high time they learnt how to make money on their own so that they face the realities of life!

  143. Maestro you are as stubborn as yo party moving forward should not start with a manifesto change the party structures and market it nation wide at present it is a regional party the just ended elections clearly illustrate this.

  144. HH the man for Zambia! Congrats to president Bwezani but Zambia still needs to be delivered to the promise land.

  145. Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!
    Viva HH for 2011!!!

  146. #167, Geologist, Canada; while I respect your opinion, I still believe that hiding or not telling the truth is what cause problems. The fact is that I am Tonga and a lot of brainwashed Bemba-Tribalists think that anyone who supports president HH and the mighty UPND is a Tonga person. Now, why must I – a Tonga person – hide – and cheat in the process – my tribe just because I want HH and the UPND to appear as if they have support from elsewhere. How many Tonga people support RBB and the MMD because odf their belief that RBB is best? In case you do not know, VJ Mwaanga my relative (I am Mugungulu Hamwaambwa Mwaanga from Chief Mapanza in Choma) and Munkombwe are examples. I hope this is enough.

  147. its nice to see that people are seeing the dangers which were associated with the would be pact and from this we need to start the race for 2011 in style. this time no holiganism please.we should be mature and analyse what each presidential candidate will offer to us.God is great and we know he will guide us not to chose a leader who has no regard for others.its unfortunate to see others in thier birthday suits which is a taboo in other tribes. aloss is a loss we should accept it the same way the ball is round.

  148. I’m so proud of you HH.2011 is for you, keep going strong and growing wise, there’s great leadership potential in you for the nation,i’m looking forward to your presidency in 2011!

  149. #172, Voice of Reason, how regional is that UPND? Until you answer this question your assertions will not warrant a proper response from me on your terribly written “at present it is a regional party the just ended elections clearly illustrate this”.

Have a good day for I am now going to Auchan to buy stuff. I may be back later on in the evening to continue posting in this topic. However, I have a lot of better work, which I had put on hold on in the campaign period, to cover since the elections are over.

  150. #176.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe
VJ Mwanga & Munkombwe are not sane Tongas! Mazoka lost just because of the ugliness of VJ & I’ve not respect for this Tonga! I supported Mazoka as he was a man who could have taken us to the next level, but not this HH you seem to be so much obssessed with!

Infact, UPND should bring in a new leader from another tribe, then the paty will move forward! It would have been better that UPND and PF came together under the leadership of let’s say Prof. Chirwa, but unfortunately Chirwa is in MMD and truth is that they frustrate him there! HH and Chirwa have the vision in modern times, but HH has little chance based on what the voting pattern was!

  151. If people will always think that the TOP position in UPND should go to Tongas, then it’ll always be seen as a tribal Party! It doesn’t require someone who has gone to school to unravel the Nepotism associated with these votes we had! Just imagine that MMD cadres from Chipata had to travel just for inauguration ceremony! Pure insanity at its best!

  152. #180, Geologist, Canada; just for your sake I will stay on a bit longer. On your “Infact, UPND should bring in a new leader from another tribe, then the paty will move forward! It would have been better that UPND and PF came together under the leadership of let’s say Prof. Chirwa, but unfortunately Chirwa is in MMD and truth is that they frustrate him there!”; the mighty UPND is a democratic party and its delegates will always decide who leads it. And so, if president HH appeals to them, then who are you? Democracy is not cheap. You do not have a to handpick presidents and other leaders like it happens in undemocratic Sata’s PF. Undemocratic Sata’s PF and democratic mighty UPND cant mix

  153. #182. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe!
UPND is democratic, but how many people are Tongas who contribute the vote to chose a leader? If more of the members are Tongas, then you expect to have a Tonga at the top, simply simple!

  154. #182 continued.
#180, Geologist, Canada; the earlier you understand my my posting in 182 above on democratic practices the better for you. And so, think on my posting in #169.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe.

If you believe in the UPND’s manifesto you are very welcome to join us, but if you do not agree with our (UPND’s) manifesto and hence the UPND Constitution then please find some other party to support and do not delay the UPND’s progress.

Sata’s PF is welcome to join the UPND as long as they accept to let the learned UPND president HH lead – and this is where it ends for we can not be led by a flip-flopper PERIOD.

  155. PF and UPND may be different in many ways, but in others they are similar. Sata is a self appointed leader in PF. He was not democratically elected to be PF president. HH was handpicked, by those with power and influence in UPND, to be UPND president. The methods may be different but the result is the same. People can see that.

  156. Iam a very open minded personal and am not blind folded by these democratic processes. The other trouble is that the advisers to theses politicians are useless as they can’t see beyond the nose. These are the realities!

  157. #183.Geologist, Canada; you wrote “UPND is democratic, but how many people are Tongas who contribute the vote to chose a leader? If more of the members are Tongas, then you expect to have a Tonga at the top, simply simple!”I wrote somewhere in #184 that if you agree with the mighty UPND’s manifesto and Constitution, you are very free to join in regardles of the educate number of Tonga people in the UPND who want the best for all Zambians in economical, social and political terms. Why are you scared to join the educated Tonga people who are fighting for a just and noble cause for all Zambians – who perhaps are not well enlightned at the moment?Think before you ink (write). I’ve 2 go 2Auchan now.

  158. #184.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe
This is where we differ! Why do you always try to impose things? If PF and UPND have to join, you look at the majority to call it democratic, so based on the last elections, who is pupular and to be the leader?

  159. #184.Maestro Hhehhehhehhe

Remove the binders and think properly! Democracy is the majority rule whether they are useless!

  160. #189 Geologist, Canada. Take a look at the Citizens Democratic Party website. They have an interesting take on things. As things stand we need a new party for the future

  161. #186, you wrote that “the advisers to theses politicians are useless as they can’t see beyond the nose. These are the realities!”In looking at the contribution of Former Zambian President Kenneth Kaunda, can you write that the advisers of HH are useless. Please, my fellow Zambians let us learn to respect elderly men who have done something good for Zambia.Super Kenny brought UNIP, FDD and UPND together to choose president HH as the UDA’s presidential candidate. Super Kenny tried to reason with both Sata and Guy Scott but the 2 walked out of the meeting at KK’s Kabulonga residence leaving the whole Super Kenny, and president HH to finish the meeting, that aimed @PF/UPND PACT, alone. What else!

  162. #190.Ici Shinka

We need progressive leaders who have the Country at heart to remove these thugs! We can’t be going back to 2001 with acceptance of thieves into the MMD and including fired chaps by LEVY! Shame, and they talk of continuity!

  163. #188, Geologist, Canada; I have heard you and please take care. Otherwise, my advice to you and Sata is that let Sata write grade 7 exams next year in 2009, then Grade 9 exams in 2010 and later try Grade 12 exams in 2011 or after. Then let Sata come and join the UPND in a possible PACT in 2016. By that time, we can risk him for Zambian President even if he will still harbour DICTATORIAL tendencies that die hard for someone said “old habit never die”.

I am now off to Auchan to buy some food. Later my fellow Zambian Citizen.

  164. #192 Geologist, Canada

We definately need progressive, inclusive, intelligent, and selfless leaders to move our country forward. What we have is simply the recycling of corrupt leaders. We cannot develop and meet the challenges of the 21 century with the usual suspects.

  165. #191. Maestro Hhehhehhehhe
We can’t have a situation whereby everyone is at liberty to form his or her own party! If this is the case, then we need 50+1% to be president so that all power hungry chaps are sorted out! This time around, we would have been looking at SATA facing off RB!

  166. #195. Ici Shinka
I guess the future is in our hands! It’s our duty to see that the Country goes ahead with development! So, learn as much as you can in the US so that you can implement your talents!

  167. #198 Geologist, Canada
Yes the future, in large part, is in our hands. More Zambians abroad need to recognize that they have a stake in the politics and economics of Zambia and should thus begin to play an active role. We literally need a new generation of genuine leaders.

  168. #200.Ici Shinka
The whole idea is to rectify our constitution so that the 50+1% is enacted! As long as this issue is not done, MMD will continue rigging and bribe smallers parties! This was one of the blunders on the part of Ken Kaunda!

  169. IF YOU ARE NOT UPND PLEASE DO COMMENT ON OUR PRESIDENT, YOU BETTER KEEP YOUR COMMENTS.VIVA HH FOR IMPROVING IN THIS ELECTION.2011 IS NOT FAR WE ARE NOT BEHIND YOU BUT WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE.

  170. #201 Geologist, Canada

I tried to include the website in my post but it won’t post. You can just do a google search for the citizens democratic party and the website should be available

Let me know if you are successful or not

  171. #203 VILLAGE CONCEPT. Last time I checked we were ALL free to comment about YOUR or any other party president aspirting to be OUR president. If you don’t like the comments, simply close your eyes.

  172. if he had not been so arrogant he would have been vice president right now. seriously did he feel that he was going to win more so in 2011

  173. #208 VILLAGE CONCEPT,

My sincere apologies. I read ahead of myself and made assumptions. I am glad you are open to comments regarding HH. Most arent so open. Please accept my apologies!

  174. @143. Spot on. HH showing political maturity. That’s where it ends. He will never be president unless Southern Province becomes a separate country.

  175. 211# SMALLER BROTHER, YOU HAVE MISSED IT, WHAT ABOUT WESTERN,NW, CENTRAL AND LUSAKA WHO VOTED FOR HIM. IT WAS ONLY BEMBAS IN LUAPULA,NORTHERN WHO ARE TRIBAL THIS IS THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER.

  176. #212 VILLAGE CONCEPT

The same can be said about Southern Province not voting for Sata. Is it safe to say it was only the Tongas in Southern province who are tribal? PF had a much better and broader showing than UPND. But the fact remains that they are both regional parties. The only difference is the degree to which they are regional.

  177. I salute you, HH. I didn’t like you at first but now I am beginning to like you. I like politicians who exhibit a spirit of magnanimity and humility in the face of supposedly injurious treatment.
You’ll notice that these Africans who are blogging here are incapable of seeing true greatness. I expected a horde of people to applaude you but alas, look at what they are writing. How can you insult a person who has accepted defeat.

Our greatness as a country depends on how we treated “losers” and the weak among us. HH, we are not a great Nation yet. Forgive us. But you have earned my respect. Cheers!!

  178. HH YOU WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA. BUT START BUYING SOME SMALL PARTIES LIKE A GOOD BOARDROOM CHAIRMAN WOULD DO WITH COMPANIES THAT ARE FAILING. PUT YOUR BUSINESS MIND INTO POLITICS. YOU SEE THE OLD ECONOMIST RB HAS OUTWITTED YOU HERE. HOPE YOU HAVE LEARNT TO BE RUTHLESS WITH FAILING PARTIES. BUY THEM UP!

  179. As long as king cobra continues being surrounded with arrogance, with his supportrs calling other tribal and insulting them, Sata will never rule. Pride comes before a fall. Those insulted will never vote for him. Come another better person whether from c/belt, people countrywide will vote for him. So stop calling names those who never voted king cobra. All you say about others is just an original copy of who you are and your behaviour.

  180. You who are calling names the Southerners for not voting king cobra you are forgiven because we did not see anything better in king cobra that we saw in HH. ours is not gap filling and unworkable pacts but about the future of our children and the country.

  181. The alliance between HH and Sata could only have worked with HH on top…like Obama and Biden… But the opposition blew it up because of selfishness and lack of trust

  182. The bottom line is no opposition parties can run against and beat the MMD. What everyone needs to realise is that all the opposition does is split the vote. We had 4 parties contesting for crying out loud. If people in UPND feel that the only way is to go it alone then so be it, it is their money and manpower. If PF thinks it can go it alone then so be it, it is their wasted money and manpower. Unless one of the opposition parties can organize itself broadly at the grassroots level, its a waste of time contesting elections. Whether you love or hate the MMD, they have a broader reach.

  183. 2011 KA?HOPE YOU DONT WRITE ANOTHER LETTER CITING MALPRACTICES IN THE ELECTION.ZAMBIANS WHETHER YOU VOTED FOR RB,HH OR SATA LETS ENSURE THE SYSTEM IS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT SO THAT THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WINS.FOR RB,PLEASE REFLECT. THINK ABOUT THE MINERS AND OTHER WORKERS AS WELL-NOT JUST ABOUT THE INVESTORS.AND PLEASE CLEAN UP THE MINISTRIES-TOO MUCH LAZING AROUND.LET THEM WORK FOR THEIR MONEY.GOVT WORKERS ARE NOT PROPERLY SUPERVISED.UNFORTUNTELY THAT IS WHERE YOU FIND THE MOST EDUCATED CITIZENS.

  184. At least you have shown the difference between a gr4 and a graduate.Empty tins make a lot of noise(SATA).Well done HH we all know you deserve better.Keep using your brain instead of your emotions like these kaponyas

  185. He is a typical tonga very usless he still have confidence that he will win , will never win , full of him self and in his own world , tongaz support anything aslong as it comes from a tonga guy , its a problem to be tonga

  186. HH PLS UNDERSTAND THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL….. ALL MUST COME TOGETHER TO DISLODGE MOVEMENT FOR MAD COW DISEASES…. NO SINGLE PARTY WILL REMOVE THIS DISEASE… REMEBER WHAT HAPPENED IN 1991….IT HAD TO TAKE ALL ZAMBIANS TO DISLODGE UNIP (in liquidation) Without this ba dala we you will never become leader of this NATION and MMD WILL CONT TO MONOPOLIZE AND IFFECTING THE PIPO OF THIS NATION……ITS A DEADLY VIRUS……MORE THAN THAT OF HIV/AIDS

  187. Right on ‘Mune’.I agree with you that this guy is so full of himself.Look at what is now coming up…he claimed he would pay civil servants a minimum of K 3,500,000 when he is now failing to pay his polling agents a mere K 350,000!!!
    He is a clown…

  188. HH for 2011, do not worry my president, let RB rule now, in few weeks the whole world will see the colapse of the Mighty Pabwato PF , n the rise of the new crop of leaders.
Away with old juks of the likes of cobra satanic with his sinking Titanic
Satanic n Titanic have sank 4 gee, never to rise again.

  189. There is no need to have a pact (a marriage of convenience) when
you are poles apart as parties. Different visions, manifestos and
political maturity. Sometimes you have to stick to your own principles and refuse to be ‘contaminated’ by thuggish clueless
    parties through merging.

  190. YOU PEOPLE DON’T JUST TALK ABOUT SATA ACCEPTING THE RESULTS, THERE WERE MALPRACTICES. GET IT FROM US SHUSHUSHUS. WE KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE BIG MAN IS RIGHT. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR SATA AND THE PF YOU WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN THAT IN KALABO VOTING DID NOT TAKE PLACE ON 30TH OCTOBER. THIS GUYS HAVE DATA. VIVA OPPOSITION

  191. As long as Sata did not win the Zambian Presidency, we are very happy. Look at how the Zambian Kwacha is doing in relation to the US Dollar to day after Sata lost. It is now almost back to 1USD to ZK3200.

Sata is a menace to the Zambian economy and society. Let him go to the courts to seek help as Sata’s PF.

As the mighty UPND, let us now sell our manifesto to the whole Nation by conductin TV and Radio interviews on MUVI TV and ZNBC regualrly so that the Zambian Voters can understand we the UPND is offerring. Thank you all and keep it up UPND under president Hakainde Hichilema.

  192. HH’s advisors should tell him to just accept defeat honourably and keep quiet. What was he doing on radio phoenix claiming the election was not free and fair blah blah blah?? Someone should warn HH that unlike sata whose supporters suck up to his every word; HH’s supporters are enlightened people who can change their minds if HH reduces himself to sata’s level. Look at Miyanda, the fact that he’s very dignified in defeat has earned him respect. HH could never have won this election, so he should stop fighting sata’s battles lest he gets contaminated with sata’s bad luck.

  193. #Can someone help find the following PF cadre individuals and tell them to contact me on [email protected]:

[In a parallell topic on LT last week “We are winning despite biased media coverage, HH”, there were PF cadres:]

    154. mala msana wanzili
    146. choma1
    132. Pumpy
    126. Ama Ladies
    122. Akapondo!
    107. tentamashimba
    84. MAT 7
    52. No way
    51. Chapati
    44. Lam Jay Akapondo
    37. YMM
    36. Anyina
    33. From choma
    21. Superman
    13. Sharp Steve-Kitwe
    10. mumbulu
    6. chikondi
    5. sylvia masebo
    4. Muwala
some character “Father Christmas” who promised sweets but has since disappeared.
I may just have to send condolences to their families too in case 1 or so had a fatal heartattack.

  194. I am not hh’s fan but I like his principles. The man is clean he learns from past events thats why could not join pf pact. Sata reduced saki to zero and those are lessons a wise man should learn. Southerners have received massive investment under the opposition so they are comfortable. upnd mps are the most principled no defections.
