Itezhi-tezhi residents happy with elections outcome.

Share

Residents in Itezhi-tezhi district say they are happy with the outcome of the 30 October presidential by-election.

A cross section of the residents interviewed by ZANIS said they were happy that Mr. Rupiah Banda has made it as the president.

Sydney Kamano a renouwned dairy farmer in the area said that it was just fair that the MMD should continue ruling until 2011 so that they can continue with their development programs.

He said that Rupiah Banda was the only candidate who was endorsed by a non tribalistic party, which he described as a party with a national character.

“Just look at the voting patterns in western province the MMD did very well compared to 2006 the people there did not vote on tribal lines but on the development that the party had delivered in the province.”

He said that there is need for the president elect to embrace those opposition leaders who lost in the 30 October presidential elections.

And another business man who is also the MMD district chairperson ,Dickson Kazovu said that government should honour the pledges they made during the election campaigns in the district.

He said that their campaigns were very difficult because Itezhi-tezhi district is a strong hold of the United Party For National Development(UPND).

The district faces water problems in Masemu ,the bad state of the D679 road, accommodation for government offices and house accommodation for government workers.

  1. LT could you please feature articles that have better substance and matter more to Zambians. What are we supposed to comment about what this dairy farmer thinks????

  2. This is really good. The mouthpiece for Sata canno cover such news as they are selective. They are now accusing the residents of Livingstone to be mourning the presidential loss for Sata. I don’t know who the POST really think they are. Anyway it is now good that we have known who they really are. I respected them thinking that they were not biased until the last elections. Even SADC has observed this including many other international observers. I supported HH but I ended up being a serious wishing RB could win so that Mulongoti could deal with the POST firmly.

  3. Yah that makes many of us, Mr Dairy farmer. We are happy with AGIP (Any Govt in Power) so that is business as usual and not radical changes to disturb us. Come 2011, they can TRY AGINA and AGAIN, till Kingdom come!

  4. RB should be very careful. Zambians are very difficulty people. He knows that People especially in urban areas are not happy. Those crooks he is bringing in will lead him into very deep troubles. The best he can do is to again turn against crroks and really distance himself from them. You can not lead people who are resenting you???.

The best friend he can have is Mr Sata. He should find a way of working with Sata. People like Sata whether you like it or not! The economy may not play well with RB and that can also lead to further resentments?? Just wait and see. Here it is not about wining, it is about whether people want you or not???

  5. GOOD RESULTS, ANYONE SUPPORTED BY POST LOSES EG FDD(2001),PF (2008)WHEN MAZOKA WAS DRIBBLED PEOPLE WERE HAPPY, WHY SHOULD THEY BE SAD WITH SATA. THOSE CHAPS PROTESTING IN NCHELENGE SHOULD BE CAGED, SMACKED, SHAMBOKED, TREATED. NEXT TIME SATA SHOULD MAKE PEACE WITH 22 MPS. TRIBAL PF WILL NEVER RULE. HAPPY MAN

  6. “The district faces water problems in Masemu ,the bad state of the D679 road, accommodation for government offices and house accommodation for government workers”.

Then you continue voting for MMD and u say the developmental projects LPM left imwe kamushi. You are the ones making us go to overseas for always voting for the wrong party and leaders.Honestly if i was working for the government and in Itezhi-tezhi and educated why stay there.Kwena bakolokombwa mwe ba kamushi.Next time don’t complain coz i voted trash.

  7. Remember 2001? who voted for MMD when the rest of the country said no? copperbelt, Luapula, Northern- so you will stay with MMd do not blame rural people and stop calling them names because you are to blame. MMD should have gone in 2001 and because of your tribal voting we are now stauck with Rb till 2011. lets hope then people of zambia will have learnt to vote objectively instead of voting on tribal/party lines.
    viva Zambia
    aluta continua!

  8. @#3 – that dairy farmer has as much of a constitutional right to vote and air his opinion as any other Zambia. PF continually overlooks the rural vote and voice, but it was strong enough to cost you the election.
@#9, Ciao – RB has extended an olive branch to the opposition. If Mr Sata is truly interested in improving conditions in the country, let him be the ‘man of action’ he claims to be and join the ruling party to get things done, instead of crying foul over lost elections. Furthermore, the ‘people who want him’ are under 700,000 out of 12 million people – he is as much wanted by Zambians as RB.

  9. In fact, the reckless and blatant disregard for rural voters by PF supporters makes it evident why those in rural areas don’t vote for the party – it does not have their interests at heart. Why should villagers expect you to implement anything of benefit to them when PF can’t even be bothered to campaign in their areas? Why should they vote for a party which bases its campaign on, and targets its policies towards the benefit of people in 4 provinces only (namely urban areas)?

  10. R. Banda, Tatamashimba & Mwaanga are flying to a campaign rally in Solwezi. Teta looks at Mwaanga & chuckles: ‘you Know, I could throw a K50, 000 note out the window right now and make one voter very happy.
Mwaanga shrugs his shoulders & says: ‘Well, I could throw five K10, 000 notes out of the window and make five voters very happy.’
RB says: ‘Of course, but I could throw ten K5,000 notes out of the window & make ten voters very happy.’
The pilot rolls his eyes, looks at all of them, & says: ‘I could throw all of you out of the window and make the Whole country very happy

  11. Sure ubu puba how can honestly you point out the problems facing people in a district as water, accomodation etc and the same time same people are happy with election results and you vote for the same party that have failed to solve your problems?
LT pliz give us news with substance in it.

  12. Meanwhile they are happy. very strange indeed. How can you say roads are bad, since when did they become bad? The road this person is talking about is a highway, you mean you cant see the four lanes it has? Its such non ending or rather non existant developmental projects LPM na MMD have brought. We shall see how you sell your milk now that feed prices and fert prices will ascend to their normal highs. Come 2011, the D679 will be a RUT

  13. Once a villager always a villager. No matter how much the opposition try, they will never change the mindset of those people.

  14. Guys dont just say PF, PF, PF when you dont contribute anything to the party. The owners of that helicopter are asking for a million dollar when they know we havent won the election and our leader has no buisnesses at the moment since they all collapsed during levy’s time.lets contribute to the secretariate gentlemen before we even waste more money in the courts.

  15. People in urban areas have very different priorities to those in the village, for a example you Lusaka dwellers are complaining of traffic, this rural man wants a road. And he is right in voting MMD, bcoz MMD said they will make a road for them. And then PF promises them Tax cuts, they are farmers, subsistence farmers, they need implements for the season, not tax cuts, houses, etc.The only time MMD is going to lose is when they update that register and you guys are hitting out on villages, these people are our relatives, who comes from Lusaka anyway? None, these are your uncles and them bread and butter issues are taken very serious, you cannot con these guys PF, you cant.

  16. my concern is the headline by LT. they are saying people in itetzi tetzi when it is MMD party officials. The man interviewed has put it clear in the text above that itzi tezi is a stronghold of UPND. Hope the media will take serious the issue of misleading Zambians and our political leaders lets they continue contributing to the fall of our country.

  17. SATA SHOULD FIRST CONTEST AND WIN WIN PRESIDENCY IN HIS PARTY AND THEN COME AT NATIONAL LEVEL,NO SHORT CUTS VIVA DOMOCRACY VIVA!ABASH DICTATORSHIP ABASH!BY THE THE WAY BY 2011 HE WILL HAVE SERVED TWO TERMS AS PF unlected PRESIDENT.SO BETTER HE RETIRES

  18. SATAn has never been president not even in hell,so how can he be imposed by his tribesmen to rule us,zambians will never give him that chance at all.
Bembas became more tribal in voting and supporting SATAn and the results are there for all to see.
NO TRIBE IS GREATER THAN ZAMBIA,MAY BEMBAS NEVER BRING US ANOTHER DICTATOR,AMEN

  19. SATA WILL NOT QUIT BECAUSE HE THINKS HE WILL WIN IN 2011,NEVER NOT IN ZAMBIA.LET HIM TRY HELL.
IF HE HAD WON ALL OTHER 71 TRIBES WOULD HAVE SUFFERED DURING HIS TERM THE WAY IT HAPPENED IN CHILUBAS,THEY SHARED MONEY JUST IN THERE TRIBE,POSITIONS ETC
THANK GOD HE WILL NEVER RULE US

  20. HE PROMISED PEOPLE FREE MONEY SO LET HIM GIVE THEM THIS MONEY OR DID HE WANT TO STEAL GOVT MONEY THEN GIVE THEM CHANGE FROM THERE ,SHAMELESS DICTATOR

  21. Guys, it is wrong to think that all people in rural areas are illiterate. We have teachers, nurses, agricultural extension officers and many others who live among the poor in rural areas. Besides, the rural population subsists on its farm products and consists of very sane minds. On the other hand, we have a cohort of illiterates living in shanty compounds in Lusaka and the Copperbelt. Therefore, to think that the rural population is uninformed is wrong. Actually, it is the urban illiterates that vote with emotions. For most of them, even when government is to create employment opportunities, they will still be unemployed because they lack the basic skills needed by the job market. I don’t d

  23. #29, KANGWA, hats off to you my fellow Zambian Citizen. We who have resolved to vote for the BEST CANDIDATE will continue being open to your vote.

  24. two men cannot speak out for the entire Itexhi-Itezhi.look at the votes and then determine who the majority of those residents were voting for.its ridiculous to say MMD.thats fuccko!! and you chaps who keep refering to the Itezhi pips as illiterate and the lyk YOU SUCK

  25. the story from itezhi tezhi makes very sad reading though it should be analyzed in more detail. The only reasons why MMD won in this area is because there too many easterners fishing in kafue river; jeff kaande with lots of cash camped in the neighborhood; op operatives stuffed the ballot boxes; and looks like the Illa `s got confused with the 50 pin fertilizer. the involvement of local chiefs in the matter is plain corruption and is a legal basis to challenge the results in itezhi tezhi. Any way, we will c if these chaps will eat fertilizer and promises

  26. We have casted this burden to the Lord so that he can
fight for us. Moslem community is celebrating that Alla
has given them a Leader R B and yet Zambia is a Christian nation
.Is R B a spriritual or religious leader who considers every religion
to be holy ? Christians this is no time to sleep like R B in church
    claim what is yours.
