A Lusaka-based clergyman has strongly condemned the hailing of insults at former President, Frederick Chiluba and physical attack on his press aide, Emmanuel Mwamba by suspected opposition Patriotic Front cadres at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross yesterday.
Bishop Bwanali Phiri of World Baptist Evangelistic Association said the incidence showed lack of respect for leaders.
He further said the use of violence and vulgar language could be a recipe of political skirmishes in the country.
Bishop Phiri said it was embarrassing that some leaders of political parties were failing to discipline their cadres, who stir up calm situations and engage into violence.
He lamented that women were being used to insult and disrespect people by some political leaders.
He explained that people that were in authority or once held respected offices should be given the respect they deserve at all times.
Bishop Bwanali said leaders should guide their cadres especially that the campaigns were over not.
He said political leaders should espouse Christian values and principles so that there was peace in the country even after elections.
He has since called on the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Christian Council of Zambia (CCZ) and the Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) to consider holding a reconciliation meeting with all political party leaders in the country.
Yesterday, suspected PF cadres reportedly scorned Dr. Chiluba and used unpalatable language on him during the funeral service of the late former Prime Minister, Elijah Mudenda at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.

As human beings we only know what our 5 senses permit. We can’t know what the future holds, or the motives in a heart or what someone will do in future or even when they die. But all knowledge – past, present and future, is in God. So when God says this is okey, it is ok now and forever more. Actually the best is to know the voice of God so that when he speaks, you know that the Lord is speaking to you. After that what matters is you obeying that word. He does not force you to obey.

Which is very good. It means RB is a good leader, because LPM was following MMD policies and programs, which the entire team of leadership including VP were party to. That is what team work means. Of course you dont expect the style of governance to be the same because RB is not LPM. If RB was a kaponya he would throw out everything he finds and would behave like some party presidents who send a representative to ECZ Election Results Centre and tells him air party grievances. Now, how will MMD do that? Simple they are already doing it by creating and expanding investment levels. When SATA and Chiluba were in power they destroyed industries which MMD with the new deal govt which has now become the Banda admin are revamping. New mining investments in sothern, Lumwana, CB and now in Luapula underway and Chongwe are coming up. these have and will continue to take up man power. These activities also create supporting industries most of which are for locals, and they too take man power.

The produce also creates basis for emerging of food processing industries which will also take up man power in the urban and peri-urban where such industries are being built. Already we have seen a lot of food processing taking place in Zambia. This is the change you can believe in. But SATA advised Chiluba for 10 years to kill everything including farming. He even championed Chiluba’s ‘third term’ so that they could continue to kill the industries.

#219, the trap we have always fallen into is relying on mining to sustain the economy. I thought we had learnt our lesson from Kaundas days. The key is to have a national strategy of building specific industry competencies that will make Zambia competitive not only in the region but globally as well. We have to pick an industry and say to ourselves we’ll tailor educational programmes to build these competencies in that specific industry.

They need to write to him expressing their total and utter disgust at how he mismanaged zambia citing their fate as one example of how he betrayed Zambians. Respect is reciprocal and earned. Lets look at Chiluba’s behaviour, the guy does not need to be respected. In 2001 he capaigned for Mwanawasa and we know he helped in rigging the elections. In 2006 he was supporting Sata, recently he was supporting Banda, Zambians wake up, this is a public figure who is like a Kamilioni. He brings himself in the public for scrutiny. His behaviour should change let him keep his small mouth shut and we shall never throw insults at him. Mind you Chiluba has been insulting Zambians by his Kamilioni behaviuor!!
