Kitwe police on high alert

Share

-Police in Kitwe were Friday put on high alert following minibus and taxi drivers’ threats to stage a demonstration over alleged harassment and victimisation by Road Transport and Safety Agency (RATSA)

Copperbelt Police Chief Antoneil Mutentwa told ZANIS in an Interview in Kitwe today that Police had mobilised Officers and taken measures to be on stand to protect kitwe residents from harm during the demonstration.

He said the drivers who had held a meeting with Kitwe District Commissioner Macdonald Mtine at his Office in Kitwe yesterday wanted to park all their buses today to demonstrate over alleged victimisation from RATSA officials and the alleged increase of the Road tax and a list of other grievances.

He said their was need for Taxi and bus drivers in Kitwe to take a more civil way of addressing issues instead of resorting to demonstrations.

Mr Mutentwa noted that people must learn to dialogue when ever aggrieved and that a meeting has since been set up among all the stakeholders to resolve the matter.

He said his Office would soon be meeting with all the Bus Operators, Drivers, Officials from RATSA and the Council to iron out all the contentious issues amicably.

He also called on the people to get facts on national issues correct before resorting to any actions that would bring disturbances in the Country.

Mr Mutentwa said it was not true that the Road taxes have been increased and appealed for calm among all the stakeholders.

Thats the cablibre of Pf and its supporters, am not suprised. And you guys wanted to be driving our economy,, God forbid, thankx to the so called rural ‘bastard’ to me they are the rural angel who made sure that that Sata and his thugs do not ascend to presidency

  2. # 8.
You also seem you have nothing to say. Just shut the hell up and leave PF supporters alone. God forbid what? Leave God out of this. Who told you that God does not Love Sata.
We are not thugs, we are just happy people who like to have a laugh every now and again

  3. LT should protect this web site by editting some of the trash you pipo write. if we ve no comment lets keep our oral cavities shut than writing #1, #2…#6. rubbish! this is a very important subject but if it does not affect you it looks simple. all of you, except #8, you are co… suckers.

  4. please guys, do not just blame some individuals in zambia over the situation, rather let us look at the facts of life. how is life in zambia now? people are complaining about ubunga, is that the only food that zambians are made to live on till Jesus returns? life is very hard; very expensive indeed. what is surprising is that many of us just fail to reason and find ourselves supporting people who are already rich and have everything. if Sata’s name is mentioned, some react and if Banda’s name is mention, others react too, to their protection. what are the issues affecting ordinary zambians today? the biggest issue in zambia is not mr Sata at all, but those in the government…

I won’t saying anything to your comment but I will agree with you that this a very important subject to you. Just chill no need of unprintables.

  6. Sata is the only season why I’m not ready to return to zambia really. I’m aware I’m only human and that my assessment of the man could be wrong but eish… I just cant seem to find anything positive coming from him .

  7. Are we all going to seat and wait for someone in gov to come and put food on our table come on be serious like the officer said get you facts right dont just resort to demonstrations everytime you dont agree. Us as a people also need to reason with government if we dont we will still have a few know it all people thinking they can rule over us and what they say is the gospel truth. If i am being honest most people in Governemt are the way they are because of us, I remember during the campaign people busy vouching for the opposition ati nabanenu balyeko why not ba bombeko and you expect them to come out of office with nothing with that attitude. Years back ppl where laughing at ex kk ppl

  8. mmmh but guys … does it mean we can’t have a laugh in what #1-7 have said especially from 5,6 and 7? Anyway, to me its been comical and made me laugh. Which brings me to the point…I’m #20!

  9. Mealie meal runs out

A critical shortage of breakfast mealie meal has hit Senanga district in the Western Province.

The shortage has caused panic buying of the commodity in the area.

Residents are reported to be rushing to buy the available bags of roller meal in retail outlets.

And some residents on Friday morning besieged the city centre when word went round that consignments of breakfast mealie meal had arrived from Lusaka.

And consumers regretted the shortage of breakfast mealie meal in the district.

Prices of mealie meal have gone up in the last few weeks.

And they voted for Akulu Mpuno!

  10. The people of Zambia must get rid of the corrupt Eletoral Commision to allow for the emergence of enlightened leaders who will be for the common good and not for themselves.

  11. #16 just shut up and continue living in a fantasy world, What has Sata done to you not to come to Zambia? it shows how inmature you are. Zambia being ruled by crooks and thugs helped by the corrupt Electoral Commission of Zambia to rig the elections. Cheating citizens is a source of anarchy and division that MMD has created.

  12. iwe chi #6 nine chale, do you just enjoy pissing people off or what. how many times have you been told ati ivo va # 1 or#2 etc nivabupuba. how old are u first of all? ngati ur somebody’s parent, your kids are gonna be messed up man.you dont even have anything to say but busy kulemba vapuba filling up space and wasting our time. we want to read what progressive ppl have to say not waste time scrolling down through your nonsense atase.mubilimila cha?

  13. # WHO CARES WHETHER YOU RETURN TO ZAMBIA OR NOT? I AM SURE NOBODY EVEN NOTICES THAT YOU ARE NOT HERE. USELESS CHAP FULL OF SELF IMPORTANCE FOR NOTHING. ATA BANE!

  14. While i do agree that its good to joke and laugh, i still strongly feel that this not the right platform to do that. What LT is asking you to do is to express your opinion on the story. Probably we should ask LT to a page where people can post the jokes.

  15. the so called officials should treat people with a little bit of respect cos these guys have families that dearly depend on them.

  16. #WONDER NICHA WALEMA KUGONA NABANA KUKUFUNTISA IWE TUVI IWE the one who is immature is you judging by the gabbage you are jus from spouting i have no mercy for your kind.

  18. Reading the blogs it seems the issue at hand has been lost or forgotten. What do people actually think about the situation in Kitwe vis a vis the bus drivers? It seems that people think that if Sata had won, somehow and miraculously Zambia would have turned into ap paradise – what a joke!

  19. Pepo – MLK said “…its not what America will do for you but what you will do for America”. Personally I see alot of opportunity pa Zed. The lack of services and quality goods is mouth watering in itself. The high price of maize meal is also a great opportunity. `I’ll me making loads of money while the rest of you guys and the minibus drivers riot and wait for government to reduce taxes to zero and give you handouts!!

  20. But pa Zed tulifikopo kwena! I do not mean we are dull – We make a lot of noise. Why can’t we change the noise most of the bloggers have made above into being harmonious? I guess we will end up with music-music worth writing home about. Filomfwisha insoni ukubelenga fimo ifyotulemba.

  21. #13! I agree with you in toto. These guys came into office only yesterday, and already their salaries are up!!! How come? There are many people who are wallowing in poverty right now, what is the rich govt doing about it? Let us concentrate our efforts on the issues that affect our country and our people, not on mere mortals who are there today, and tomorrow they will be no more. The country belongs to all of us, and we need to take care of it properly. May God bless us.Viva Zambia.

  22. Sometimes I wonder what most of you guys in the diaspora are doing. Most of your contributions to critical topics are off color, stale and shallow. I wonder what type of country men we have out there… most of you are bums, riffraffs, louts, skelms, layabouts, pimps and scounderels. No wonder you are in the marjority PF supporters shame.

  23. # 31! What is “making loads of money” when the majority of your fellow Zambians’ lives are at stake?! Having a lot of money is not everything; fostering life is of a far greater value.

  24. Number 16..Boasting with your ugly over-sized feet planted on foreign soil. Talking like you are a native of that very Western country you have invaded with your Horrific FACE. Who cares whether you bring your scary self back home or not? In fact, save us the trouble of locking our kids inside once you return you PEDOPHILE. You are just a ‘HOUSE NIGGA’ who thinks he is the master himself just because he partakes left-overs falling from the master’s table. Shame on you, you unwelcome guest living a borrowed life! Be Humble you impostor who is suffering from an acute mental disorder. Don’t even come because you may just infiltrate our society with your strange sexual preferences. You Homo!!

  25. ba mukelabai easy…why the anger?ndiwe mufana wa sata? #16 is right about sata. that man is just wrong!!listening to his interviews makes me cringe.lots of pent up aggression.ndiye vi bene mugabe #2 vi bantu va so.instead of speaking diplomatically so that he can project a positive picture akamba monga ni ndeo.we dont want such embarassment on the world stage.

  26. Golyati is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Will just spend the day reading what you will be yapping about.

You will get tired and wonder off just like most visiting bloggers.
    We are used it.
We will just wait you out.

  27. Number 40…Mukelabai is right. Don’t even try to relegate this conversation to your usual petty observations. Who would waste his diplomacy on shallow minds like Number 16 and yourself? Just say you are a ‘HOUSE NIGGA’ too so chakubaba naiwe. You chaps in the diaspora want to portray yourselves as the very MESSIAHS Zambia waits for. Just full of self of importance for nothing whilst you ply the Western streets as Unwelcome Guests. Am not even a PF sympathizer…I am simply a PROGRESSIVE Zambian who was abroad for a long time and is now back home making money. You want to scream the loudest yet your contributions to our GDP are a non-event. Stay there we will develop Zambia for you. Coward!

  28. ba mwiinga nicani so.. no one said anything about being the messiah here.im just saying let air our views with all due respect and not resort to insulting each other. why call someone you dont even know a paedophile?how can u say he’s a homo?anagona na ba tate bako?not everyone abroad is a house nigga.get your facts right before you generalise.

  29. ‘He said their was need for Taxi and bus drivers in Kitwe to take a more civil way of addressing issues instead of resorting to demonstrations. Mr Mutentwa noted that people must learn to dialogue when ever aggrieved and that a meeting has since been set up among all the stakeholders to resolve the matter.’It appears that KITWE is trying to be a revolution centre in Zambia.I think, GRZ must quickly do something to clean kitwe of ba-Kaponya who are upto no good for our great Nation. Please, GRZ, get jobs going in non-CB provinces especially Luapula and Northern so that some of the Kitwe Kaponyas can be attracted to go the the rurals areas. The concentration of them in one place aint good.

  30. Can RB attend to the issue concerning loss of jobs on the mines? Am surprised that even the MUZ President is unable to see the president over this issue becos of some restrictions i dont understand. Guys we a suffering on the mines let the president not travel to Nigeria before solving the problem.
