Auditor General Anne Chifungula shows off the ACCA achievement award she received in London last week

The Auditor General of Zambia Annie Chifungula has scooped this year’s Association of Chattered Certified Accountants (ACCA) achievement award for outstanding performance.

Ms. Chifungula, who received the award last week on Thursday in London, said the achievement award is in relation to her contribution to her office and the audit profession.

She told journalists at her office that the achievement is important because her office has continued to demonstrate professionalism and contributing auditing products to the country.

Ms. Chifungula said her office has continued to prove its relevance to national development despite the difficult circumstances it sometimes goes through in ensuring objectivity, transparency and accountability.

She noted that the office has also increased its audit coverage and improved the quality of work by expanding the operations of the office in all provinces in the country.

Ms. Chifungula observed that the ACCA achievement award has raised the Zambian flag adding that the award reflects the outstanding performance and team work of the Auditor General’s office.

She also urged employees at the office to remain committed to team work in order to overcome the challenges it is faced with.

Ms. Chifungula has since dedicated the award to her office and the country adding that the award could not have been bestowed on her without cooperation from other employees.

The Auditor General has been awarded with the 2008 ACCA achievement award in recognition of her outstanding performance and contribution to developing the accountancy and finance.

  1. She is a determined lady. Annie is not one of those baby cry ladies who want 30% or is it 50% SADC declaration for participation in some decision making even when they can not prove that they are worth the challenge. She has proved and she deserves the award without bringing in issues of gender biasness.

  2. Credit should also go to the LPM government that enabled an environment of and respect for the rule of Law. If there wasn’t an enabling environment i highly doubt if Anna would have performed to merit the award.

  3. Congra! congra! Go girl power! And now that is an achievement for you, for the zambian womenfolk and yes the motherland. Congratulations

  4. Congrats mam, this is good fot the nation and Africa as whole.
Again Congrats and may God richly bless you and your staff.

  5. It’s not easy to get such recognition. Job well done Annie! This should serve as an inspiration to many women and not to cry for whatever % representation or jobs without showing us what you’re made of.

  6. woman of integrity Congrats hats off.You have done us proud not this useless political women who always think power and firm for a lady is only found in politics

  7. These are the real women, women of substance
not those empty headed big bossomed women who spend most of their time dusturbing other peoples marriages and keep calling men their fathers ages ati “sweety”

  8. THIS IS GREAT NEWS,ANNIE SHOULD BE FINANCE MINISTER WITH IMMEDIATE EFFCT,MAGANDE- AUDITOR GENERAL OFFICE.THINGS WOULD MOVE FAST AND BETTER. WHERE ARE THE NGOCC AND OTHER USELESS NOISE NGOs FOR WOMEN ?? THEY ONLY COMMENT WHEN ITS NEGATIVE.HOPELESS.

  9. Well done Mrs Chifungula, she has been exemplary in her duties inspite of the hostile enviromentthat she had and the AG office have been subjected to i.e under funding, understaffed political biasness e.t.c , the goverment are a let down for not doing anything to act on her reccommnendations in her reports to the PAC of parliamnment. The laws should be changed to enusre those cited for abuse of public resources are punished.

For the reasons above and others i dont agree with the opinions of no.6 anonymous for suggesting credit shud go to LPM and govt also, they have not done as much as they shud to ensure the A.G work results in changes and savings for our public funds.

  10. #19 Iwe goli, if you are the one that starts calling tu ma girls ati baby what do you expect them to say to you. Is sweety yamene iyo. After all, you do not baby your wife and like wise she does no sweety you and what the children do not eat at home, they will go eat kwa ba heighbour

  11. The women NGOs must be in the fore front of recognising such exceptional achievement. Instead they only mobilise themselves when Shakafuswa comments on how many of them he has been assisting with horizontal refreshments. I remember one Goodgentleman of Kabwata whose only crime was to roughly touch his wifes cheek who was fond of exchanging juice sms with a boyfriend, how they had a field day demostrating and appearing on media.
Now a good thing has happened to one of them an there quiet shame

You have done a bad job in raising you children that way. If you dont have something they go to beg or scrounge from your neibhours!!!

Careful that is how street kids start.

  13. On second thoughts, I rescind my earlier decision. I made it before my web page could load the picture above. Nevertheless bravo madam AG.

  14. Congrats, we need more representation of women in key decision making positions cause women are just honest people who rarely plunder resources. What is the Ministry of Gender doing about it. Infact all the institutions and recriutment agencies should have the gender guidelines to guide them. At the moment it should be 30% . Its time to recognise women who opt to choose thier brains and not other means to be succesful. Please we need action in this department or ministry call for the C.Vs of women. If you educate and empower a woman you educate and empower the whole nation. Viva

  15. well done ba annie,
other women should emulate your hard work rather than parading themselves on political platforms seeking jobs and political recognition.

  16. Great Stuff!!! Something to lighten up our faces at least..not the usual corruption, rigging, exam leakages, cholera, MPS et al salary increments,Tribalism etc etc we have been having of late…Ala Ba Annie Chifungula mulinshimbi..you make us proud!!

  17. I hope our young ladies can emulate Mrs Chifungula instead of just drinking and producing babies. Well done my lady. the sky is not the limit.

  18. Congrats lady, the other guy wrote about Annie still being MISS, so what? Men there are far away from it, she has done more than some of you noise makers in your homes with abakashi, always wanting them to look up to you. Abakali bakali mdala.

  19. CONGRATS MAMA U HAVE DONE US PROUD.SUCH THINGS REMIND ME OF BA LEVY HE WAS GOING TO AWARD U WITH SOMETHING NOT ABA TUKWETE

  20. You are a tourch bearer mama, very enegetic & an inspirational to me. Well done hoping many will emulate you and deliver alot of such achievements. Twakabomba chamansa obilo banyina moye.

  21. Ba Anne, am very proud of you. How did you make it? If only you could give me your email address so that we could discuss more. God bless you and your fimily. We really need more women like you Zambia.

  22. I hope your institution in The UK will not be embarassed when you will be found to have been an accomplice to Mwanawasa, Chiluba and Katele grand corruption through false auditing by you personally and the auditor Generals office. Like ECZ, your office is a Zambian government tool to hide corruption. Zambians know your role and you will be held accountable to all the false audits. You will not hide through these wards from your Bwanas. Your chaps you have sold the country, you have no souls.

  23. I only hope the government can improve in areas where her work has revealed alot of misuse, misaproprition, misapplied so on so forth.Otherwise she deserves this award.

  24. #3 please mind your language- most women like Anna deserve to be positons of higher decision making but because of the undersight of leaders, very few a even appointed, so having an affirmative action in place can change such a senario.
viva Anna, may you continue to be a role model to other women and girls!

  25. ‘The Auditor General of Zambia Annie Chifungula has scooped this year’s Association of Chattered Certified Accountants (ACCA) achievement award for outstanding performance.’

Congratulations on your award and good you have dedicated and attributed it to your office. I concur with #50. VILLAGE CONCEPT on his ‘I only hope the government can improve in areas where her work has revealed alot of misuse, misaproprition, misapplied so on so forth.’

GRZ can possibly do better especially after such an award to the Auditor General.

  26. morning Maestro Hhehehehehehe, always good to hear from you daily.Your loyalty to mother Zambia is admirable.let many of our bloggers be as objective in the way they veiw issues and zambia will develop.Congrates madam AG.We need to expose corruption for the govt to take action swiftly. To those bloggers who are out of touch with the scenario back home ,please take time and visit so you can have first hand data.

  27. she is my inspiration! everytime i hear her name it’s all about achivement.”I go like”if she can do it why can’t i?it’s not that she is special it all about being focused

  28. #56.Bwalya,thanks and goodmorning to you too my fellow Citizen. We have a lot of Newspapers that are busy writing useless selfish stuff when they can convey a chunk of sensible information to the Zambian Citizens at home.Zambia is on the right path to development,I believe, after all the experiences we have gone through as a Nation. The collapse of our economy in the 1980s leading to the change in 1991,the huge corrupt practices that were introduced like ‘nichekeleko’ in the 1990s to 2001,the death of late President LP Mwanawasa,semi-literate leaders, tribalism fuelled by irresponsible media org.,unconvincing elections, can all help us come up with a Constitution that will bring real development.

  29. #58 maestro you are right on ,for now let the zambians know its time to work hard to improve our country in all aspects. It will take commitement from the office holders to steer the ship to the destination.we can start politicking in 2011.Our local govt system is in destress and thus will require overhaul.Govt will have to take the centre stage.Keep up with your loyalty.you are very coherent.

  30. Congrats to the AG Anna. She deserves it big time. Let govt grant autonomous status to the Office of the Auditor General. Bravo OAG…

  31. #59 Bwalya, thank you and take careful care always. Very few people take objectiveness seriously and I am humbled by your approach and contribution.

  32. Alot of financial malpractices have been unearthed in most of our Missions abroad. Don’t you think Ba Annie’s hard work needs to be complemented by ACC & DEC. Surely this Woman and her team have done very well, they have even kept there working premises in good order like in Livingstone which looks far much better than the opposite premises Livingstone Civic Centre. I hope Ba President will raise to the occassion and sort out the corrupt Missions abroad. Congratulations Nobanchembele!

  33. Congrats Ba Anne. Women like you will always inspire young girls and women to aim high in life.

No. 67 single women wil most of the time excel because there is no one beside them trying to discourage them (man). The animal in man will always want to have a wife who will always look up to them.

  34. Thats the beauty of being single. You always excel because you become disgruntled with the opposite sex and to study hard to prove that you are superior. Congrats Ba Annie!!!!!!!!!! Do I have to pay for divorce papers? Please advise
