The Zambia Volunteer Soocer Fans Association (ZAVOSOFA) says it has entered a deal with the Zambian Airways for a return flight to Cairo, Egypt where the senior chipolopolo boys would play that country’s Pharoahs in a crucial world cup qualifiers.

ZANIS sports reports ZAVOSOFA patron Peter Makembo confirming the development in an interview Wednesday that Zambian Airways has agreed to offer a 108 seater return flight to Cairo to Cairo on 29 March, 2009.

Pastor Makembo said ZAVOSOFA has negotiated with the Zambian Airways for a subsidized fare of US $ 1445 for a return ticket plus another US $ 100 for visa, airport transfer to and from the staduim as well as for the match.

Pastor Makembo said depending on the number of soccer fans who would take advantage of the direct flight to Cairo, Zambian Airways would be keen to offer another plane with larger sitting capacity to meet the increased number of local fans to travel for the match.

The contact numbers for the ZAVOSOFA patron are 0977-/0966 -/0955 – 828 508 for further details.

  1. This is a good idea. Give the boys moral support!! Hope the President can also make it to Cairo and revive the RB’ eleven spirit.

  2. Good point #1 but why should the president travel to Cairo though? Thats an additional 50000 dollars to be spent on his entourage. They might as well contribute half of that cost to the ZAVOSOFA. He can watch the game from his plasma screen tv at state house

  3. The US 1000 plus rate is too high for a return flight to Cairo unless that includes accommodation.

I would love to travel but that should be in the US $800 range for the ticket plus an additional cost of US $200 for tickets, accommodation and food.

  4. Very good deal. This is good patriotism on the part of Zambian Airways. I know you can do much better than that. Please keep it up.

  5. Good gesture from Zambian Airways.Any plans to extend your flights to London?
We are tired of these round trips to Lusaka via Nairobi,J’burg,Addis,Rome and what have you.
BA has direct flights but due to monopoly, the prices are on the upperhand.
    Viva KK 11!

  6. those of you that are going you even cheer for the team, dont just go there and sit silently in the crowd the boys need as much noise as you can make.

    go go chipolopolo munchende!!!!

  7. The flight charge is okay.why it’s because they have hired the plane and it’s a round trip.
But this calls for business houses to contribute what ever little they can afford.
The first match against Egypt will determine our fate in this competition.
