Many students from affluent families rely on leaked exam papers-Kapumpa

Share

INSTITUTE of Directors president Mumba Kapumpa has said that the growing number of quack professionals is a result of high levels of corruption.

He said many students from affluent families relied on leaked examination papers for them to pass examinations.

He said of late he has seen many unintelligent people in possession of very good certificates or professional qualifications.

“In our days, there was nothing like having leaked examination papers. The Zambian Government has to come up with a mechanism to improve the situation,” he said.

Mr Kapumpa said if good and strict governance policies were enforced, corruption in institutions of learning would considerably reduce.

Mr Kapumpa said this in Lusaka on Friday night during an Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) discussion.

Mr Kapumpa said good governance curtailed corruption.

Mr Kapumpa also expressed concern over some people who accept to be board members for many companies.

He charged that some board members have become ineffective and irrelevant because they were on so many boards. He said that this made it impossible for them to make effective contributions towards the running of the companies.

Mr Kapumpa said limited jobs and high poverty levels have contributed to highly qualified people willing to do anything to make ends meet.

And United Nations Development Programme (UPND) Governance Unit advisor Michael Soko has said that management systems in public institutions should be strengthened to curb corruption.

Mr Soko said although Zambia has made progress in the fight against corruption, it still had a major challenge of improving service delivery, especially in public institutions.

Mr Soko said Zambia has made successes in fighting corruption through institutions like the ACC, Task Force, Judiciary, Police Service, Police Complaints Authority and having in place improved financial regulations.

Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) representative Dominic Liche said the fight against corruption could be illusive if prosecution of suspects is slow.

“Following the Auditor General’s reports, we seldom hear that those persons or officers highlighted in the reports are investigated and prosecuted,” he said.

He said many people were afraid of reporting corrupt people because they were not sure whether they would be protected from the culprits, especially if these were influential people in society.

Mr Liche appealed to members of the public to turn up in large numbers at the Anti-Corruption Day on Tuesday at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.

The discussion’s moderator, Mr Festus Chipungu, said that the ACC was happy that many Zambians are supporting the fight against corruption.

  1. I agree with the big man. I even wonder how some of the people who hold high positions in Zambia got them. Theur sense of work and service delivery is so disappointing and you even wonder if these people even saw the inside of a classroom. All the talk about is their cellphones talktime and cars. God help Zambia

  2. Ba mumba kapumpa don’t compare your education to ours.i fwe filakosa its not dongo na sundu no.Iam not supporting leakages no but our education starndard nowadays pa zed is very poor compared to the past. You pipo you hard so many books for your reserches, but today those books are nowhere to be seen.

  3. #4 I hope you are not one of those who made it through leakages as your rush to be number one on this site suggests. Anyway your point is totally invalid. You have more materials today than we had back there. remember, there was no Internet then and to get information from abroad it used to take months and only those whose relatives at Zambia airways could afford the books you are talking about. Today you can download almost any book you want from the Internet even before it is published. So cut the crap:-t

  4. :(( Mumba Kapumpa is right, even scholarships through zed systems are mostly given to the same dull chaps. The evidence is right on this blog, just look at how sily some of the comments that posted by some people who are abroad…I have been woundering how they got there, now I know!

  5. I disagree, most top officials are incompetant not because they used leakages but because zambia has a culture of laziness at the top. Most top professionals don’t work at all but rely on subordinates to do work for them, they instead spend time shagging secretaries and being lazy. Most professionals start out smart but as time moves on they become like their peers and revert to being dumb because there is no pressure like they faced in school. I had friends that were geniuses in secondary school but now are vagabonds. I was once accused of using a leakage because I excelled beyond most zambians dreams abroad. Education oversea’s has no leakages

  6. Mr. Kampumpa is very right. When I got to UNZA in 1999, I was the best student from Chadiza Sec Sch with 14 points but one of the worst when I got to campus. Most of the Lsk boys who were my friends had 6 ones but ended up being tourists and UNZA. I graduated and was called to be an SDF. It was unheard of to have a leaked exam paper in the rural areas where i did my sec education. Now things have gone worse as even in areas such as Kasama exam papers leak. What is happening to the Zambian education standards? :((

  7. Mumba Kapumpa is right. He went to UNZA and because of the lack leakages, he had one arrear…but them, KK was disperate for professionals. He asked UNZA to release all students with one arrear as graduates. Hence Mumba Kapumpa and my father were released together. But bothe men have made it tramendously. You go to UNZA right now. Even the most dull chap from a rich family graduates from there. UNZA has also become a leakage zone, because of poverty. What happens, industry gets same dull chaps because their fathers can manage to corrupt a recruitment officer of a head of human resources. Results…disfunctional companies. :d

  8. 14 points and number one 😮 . People are actually smart enough to get 6 points , it’s nothing to do with leakages. Not everyone stays consistent in life so just because people that did well fell off doesn’t mean they cheated from the beginning. It’s the culture of beer drinking, waiting for handouts, relaxation that brings a lot of people demise. My uncle was one of the number one students in Zambia when schooarschips started and was sent to russia to do chemical engineering while there he started drinking and doing drugs. Today you can find him in mutendere without shoes drinking kachasu

  9. Some teachers and lectures are also to blame because of their lust on some students. Some sleep with those lecturers for a free A+. What do you expect. I saw this twice with my own eyes during the days of my life at UNZA (1997-2002.

  10. it is surprising that such are being talked about now. it is rather too late. I hear even the exams for nurses leaked, so watch out when you go to the hospital next time, the nurse could have passed by leaked papers or by sexually transmitted marks

  11. KAPUMPA IS RIGHT SPOT ON. DUNDERHEADS ARE QUALIFYING OWING TO LEAKED EXAMS AS LONG AS ONE HAS A POCKET DEEP ENOUGH TO BRIBE ILL PAID STAFF IN THE TEACHING PROFESSIONAL. ITS TIME CHURCH ORGANISATION LIKE THE JEHOVAHS WITNESSES STARTED PRINTING AND HANDLING EXAMINATIONAS ESPECIALLY GRADE 9 AND 12.

  12. I understand that George W. Bush will be looking for work in a few weeks. He could probably come and work as international advisor in the Task Force to prevent the leaking of examination papers.

  13. Thumbs up #13. My uncle did the same thing in German, today, you will find him drinking Kachasu in Chibolya, and them droped by ZamCab wheelburrow at his one room house where he stays with his wife and 4 children./:)

  14. I do agree with Kapumpa that leakages are now rampant in Zambia. But even if you pass with leakages at grade twelve you have to prove yourselves at the university.I was CBU and it is true that grade twelve points dont count but i passed the exams and it rare to have leakages at universities because some professors prints the exams on same day of the exams and here i am at MIT and im passing the exams though coming from Zambia

  15. **==umwina kalale, talk of catholic sisters handling examination paper i will second with you but Jehovahs witness forget coz it will be worse than it is now.

  16. The problem of leakages shows how corruption has permeated our society. If a grade 7 pupil can think about acquiring leakages, there is no telling what he/she will do as an adult holding public office. However, it’s not fair to suggest that many students/pupils from affluent families rely on leakages without any empirical evidence. Don’t forget that many children from affluent families attend schools where they don’t even bother to sit for ECZ grade 12 exams. When I was in high school the people that allegedly used leaked exam papers came from all backgrounds.

I agree with the assertion that some people seat on too many boards. This results in a lack of independence. :-w

  17. thank you #27 People like to jump t conclusions abotu affluent people, our success is always suspect. Success is not judged from backgrounds it’s juded from merit. Being affluent does not preclude the fact a person worked hard, thats a lie thats just permeated by people to make themselves feel better. Most of Zambia’s most useless politicians did not come from an affluent background so go figure. Most achieved affluency after being corrupt. So stop looking for scapegoats when the real problem lies in the country’s attitude towards hard work and sacrifice.

  18. The issue of exam leakages is very serious, this is why the country is not developing because even the so dull persons will have a job in key possions. So it would be fine that anyone who is found with leakage be pronounced publickly in the news papers and then be imprisoned ,this way a lot of people will have fear. We can not let a situation like this go on in this country.Let us put a stop to this fellow countrymen.

  19. I think this observation is misplaced because he is giving the assumption that parents of the so called affluent people support and help there children and i think it is wrong i for one never used leakage but some of the smartest people at St Clements had papers befor the exams and they came from shangombo not your average well off. This fight agaist corruption has made some people think you can blame everything on “high level Corruption” get you act together and stop glorifying corruption and making people in receipt of such information prevalaged and important just sort out the education system as regards exam leakages [-([-x[-x

  20. Leakages were going for K10000 when I was at school in the year 2000, so thats highly not an affluent figure because students spent much more on beer. What some guys used to do was buy one leakage and copy it by pen so one leakage would service 10 people. And mind you this was a government school with school fee’s of K35000 per year. The funny thing is that a lot failed even with the so called leakages.

  21. 24 PETER
I THOUGHT THE JEHOVAHS WITNESSES ARE SHREWD WHEN IT COMES TO STICKING TO RULES OF THE GAME. AWE KANSHI CHASHUPA NABA CHITAWALA NABO NOMBA THER ARE CORRUPT. I DID NOT KNOW THAT CATHOLIC SISTERS ACN DO A GOOD JOB. I AM CATHOLIC AND DID NOT WANT TO MENTION MY CHURCH FEARING TO BE LABELLED BIASED. SO BRAVO WITH THE SISTERS OF MY CHURCH. THANKS FOR THE OBSERVATION PETER ONCE MORE. GOOD DAY MATE.

  22. #32, the parents may not approve but the chaps can trick their rich parents into releasng money to purchess leaked papers. For example, a kid walks up to his father and says “Dad I Need K300,000 for extra lessons.” The unsuspecting parent will give the child the money. The kid then adds that K300,000 to his pocket money and in no time, he has leaked papers in his hands.

In addition, some parents who lack morals actually buy these papers for their children. The times we are living in are evil.

  23. Thank my god, barr my secondary education none of my qualifications is Zambian earned nobody will treat me with suspicion :)>-

such pronouncement will only serve to devalue Zambian proffessionals, institutions and qualifications, i can forsee a situation were it will be difficult to apply for jobs and further studies outside our shores, people will be required to sit for further exams before being admmitted or offered jobs,

it’s no wonder UNZA is ranked some where below 3000 in the world university tables:(

  24. I thought most affluent parents send their children to schools like Baibab, rhodespark or ISL where they write cambridge exams. Since when do affluent people send their children to dilapidated places liek Unza and government schools?

  25. Can the govt put a stop to this. its eating away the moral fibre of the education system in our country. govt and lesders in the coridors of power can you raise to the challenge. :-c^:)^^:)^^:)^^:)^

  26. Can the govt put a stop to this. its eating away the moral fibre of our education system in the country. govt and lesders in the coridors of power can you raise to the challenge. :-c^:)^^:)^^:)^^:)^

  27. Mumba Kapumpa is right to say that this issue of leakages is a function of corrupt practices.
What CHILUBA, SATA and the other guys who ruled this country from 1991 to 2001 did to this country is very sad.
It is good that Chiluba is not intending to get into active politics anymore.
But the danger is now with his colleage, SATA, who is still telling people he is gona be a saviour of the poor which he created between 1991 and 2001, and he wanted to create some more poor people by pushing for Chiluba to continue into ‘third term’.
One would think that SATA created poverty strategically, so that in future (now) he could use them for his advantage.
    Very cruel indeed.

  28. This whole thing started with government schools i remember in our time as we are heading towards January and sept it was an all knowing thing that teachers will be on strick for a month or so. and this made us pupils and parents to panic and than came this leakage thing so i think government should be blamed for this… ~X(

  29. **==the issue of leakages is a product of the corrupt mind of man. as long as God is not the centre of any society expect such.

  30. Mumba Kapumpa shud just shut the hell up…any madalas tryn to sound normal when they are bad news themselves are just FAKE…he is just like VJ likes to go after younger girls…ifi mishishi ukuubuta

Trust me I know a number of people that he has chased…so to me his is one of the biggest quacks.

He also wrote a book ” Dummies guide to walk around in white hair, dancing the hell up at functions(esp. Ngoma awards) and pretend to be a noble citizen”.

  31. spellings on some of the postings are atrocious. Strike ati Strick. You are the chaps involved in “leaky”. Mumba is right.

  32. Leakages were brought into the system due to poverty and they are for the prevailaged. Headteachers and some teachers see exam as a business to earn extra money.I never used leakage in 7 and 9 because i could not afford it but i was prevailaged to lay my hands on it G12.Anyone who wrote exams from middle 90s chance are they used the leakage and i know most of the bloggers here had leakages too. If we all denie then the problem doesn’t exist and there is no point talk about it because there is no problem. We talk now beacuse there is problem and we are part or was part of the systems and the system is wrong. If we all try to be saints will never solve the problem.

  33. Zambians are learned but few are intelligent. There is a massive difference between being educated and intelligence. The employers in our country always look at the paper qualification rather than the experience or what you can bring to the organisations.some people are educated have MBAs and PHDs here as they claim on this site but when you read their comments are pathetic, you don’t problem or doubt them what they have but there are simply not intelligent though educated no offence to anyone, now imagine if these same people were heading departments in a orgainsation because they are educated. We need to change the culture and understand ourselves.

  34. #42 Zesco and Zamtel are a result of employing unqualified relatives.however the high prevalence of leakages is due to moral decay in Zed at one point cheating was a sin but now it is a norm.

  35. #51. Anyone who has credible qualifications is likely to prove their worth. However, we sometimes have the problem of not being able to identify required competencies for roles. This results in the inability to accurately predict candidates future behaviour and performance. When I was back home, most job interviews involved being asked questions around your subject matter. If one actually passed exams, such interviews are quite easy to pass. Competence based interviews and psychometrics tests are more likely to accurately identify people with genuine potential and separate the men from the boys.

  36. Selection at Mpelembe Sec “form six” was the worst regarding “professional sons and daughters”.They used to pick the best earlier on and later! There was corruption.:-?**==^:)^

  37. :-\” boring i can measure level of dullness by the amount of time people spend on the blog debating issues that are not that important especially that some gget in arguments with ppl who are only here to piss you off leakage means a promised career if you learn to apply yourself the problem is not with the parents or students but the education system

  38. Corruption is at the root of the problem of leakages like other vices e.g. selection of students, employment, award of contracts etc.The list goes on.There is no strong will to fight corruption as is evidenced by those mentioned yearly in the Auditor General’s reports.Public officers stealing are simply made to pay back as if they got loans or shifted to other ministries. The “unfortunate” ones selectively taken to court have to endure years of trial or is it torment. The Chief Justice keeps saying courts must speed up, can’t he take any sanctions. It appears what he says is simply ignored. 😕

  39. THE JEHOVAHS WITNESSES ARE BETTER THAN MOST OF THIS CHURCHES WHEN IT COMES TO STICKING TO RULES. AM PRETTY SURE THEY CAN HANDLE THE EXAM PAPERS WITHOUT ANY LEAKAGE, BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

  40. Mr Kapumpa is right we need to address this issue of leakages, but what is the institute doing on its members who sit on so many boards!

  41. People involved in dealing and using leaked exam papers are only limiting the progress of our country (development) by denying the right university candidates a chance to acquire a well deserved place at the insitution of Higher Learning. It is for this reason that many sectors within Government fail to materialise. Higher education i.e University is not for everybody but for people that are hard working and really derserve to be there. Kill nepotism and corruption for a better ZAMBIA!!

  42. Even life itself is a leakage,Why should we apply sanity on the the same corrupted paths that we walk on.Why should we talk about leakages anyway, whilst our mind are leaking.zambia is a leaking nation, everybody is leaking including teachers and lectures, what more the pupil and the student. We have a rotten sysytem full of dunderheads who cant even pass special paper one.

  44. #8.E=MC^2

I agree with you and what the big Man Kapumpa has said. Back in the day, or during our time which was not very far, when you were selected to go to the University of Zambia, you already had a BC number and a scholarship in place! Education has been diluted to an extent that, even “Complete Dull Mind Clear Chaps” are knocking at the premises of UNZA! Worse still is that even School of Natural Sciences has not maintained its standards, except a few Lecturers like Dr Kunda, the only Mathematician in Zambia & Africa. The same applies to other Schools. So, you get dull chaps passing through use of money, sex from these hip star girls, all bordering on Corruption.
    We need to change!

  45. #37.your flag ((((((o))))))

I pity you for saying like that! You should be happy with what you’ve done, but a person like me, am happy that I passed through UNZA and graduated with awards of academic excellence which are recognised where ever I have gone, including in the Capital of Europe, Brussels, Belgium! Even here in Canada people were amazed at was I am capable of achieving! So, Keep that sentimental language to yourself! It’s what you can achieve what matters most, and the school you attended!

No offense, but look at life squarely!!

  46. #15.Casey Khisho

Spot on my brother! Check my other posting #69. Lecturers are being seduced by these girls who use their body as a commodity for career enhancement, so what do you expect out of such display of birth suites by dull girls? This is happening at UNZA even as we blog!!!

  47. life is funny, sometimes i really wonder.there are people who merely walked in and out of exam rooms without achieving anything yet they have good jobs all because they have the looks and can get away with it,its sad for those that genuinly deserve the jobs but cant get.well it all starts with the govt.

  48. #
    44. your flag Fine!, I like your comments. Let us keep all undereducates from forming GRZ and then we will have leaders who will make sure that all corrupt activities are done away with. :-t to the Undereducate so that Zambia can have good sound programmes by about 2021.

  49. #50. I KISSED YOUR MUM, I did not see the Grade 7 leakage, but I tell you teachers are sophisticated in how they operate for there are other activities they do which are better than leakage. I saw leakage for R.E. Grade 9 exams in year, but I did not took it seriously because I knew I was good enough to pass without it. I thus missed out on getting 100% in R.E. or something close to it. For my Grade 12 exams, I never even wanted to hear anything about leakage, however, I paid dearly by failing to score a 1 in Mathematics syllabus D. At UNZA, I never saw any leakage though I heard stories about it especially regarding normally ill-dressed ladies whose morphology is a menace to lecturers.

  50. LEAKAGES IN ZED BEGUN WITH CHILUBA PEOPLE EG CHUNGU. THE PROMOTIONS IN SCHOOLS ARE NOT GOOD. MOST CHAPS PROMOTED ARE NOT REAL LEADERS. LEAKAGES CAN END IF HEADS OF SCHOOLS ARE PROMOTED ON MERIT, THIS INCLUDES DEBS. ECZ IS TOO BLAME ALSO. SUPERVISORS AND INVIGILATORS ARE NOT PAID FOR WORKING, BUT THE CHAPS AT ECZ WHO JUST PRINT PAPERS ARE PAID IN MILLIONS. I AM AN EXAMINER MYSELF BUT I GOT ONLY TRANSPORT REFUNDS, AND IT WAS EVEN SLASHED EG PAID UPTO A POST OFFICE OF A MAJOR TOWN. TOO AVOID BP AND QUARRELS I STOPPED. THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM IS IN MY HEAD, I CAN ONLY GIVE IT OUT WITH A PAY. WHY SHOULD I ENRICH DULL OFFICERS AT ECZ. THEY DO NOT QUALIFY TO BE THERE AND SWIM IN MILLIONS.

  51. Fast forward a few years. Many of the people that used leaked exam papers will be MPs, ministers, permanent secretaries and corporate managers. What a future! :((

  52. EVEN WHEN I WAS SUPERVISOR, CHAPS FROM DEBS OFFICER SWAM IN ALLOWANCES FOR VISITING SCHOOLS BUT ME WHO KEPT THE PAPERS JUST TOOK A FANTA WITHOUT SUPPORT. SURE IF I WAS MORALLY WEAK WHAT CAN HAPPEN?

  53. #76. your flag I KISSED YOUR MUM, the Southern Province. I was educated at Catholic schools from about Grade 3 – 12 although my Grade 1 – round about first term Grade 3 was done in a GRZ school. I then moved over from the SP to Lusaka Province at UNZA.

Naasemanizya musa, inga wa punda izina lyangu alimwi. :))

  54. Since you have been in lusaka province you should know that leakages are available from G7 up to higher education.I’m really surprised before you used to talk crap man but of recently your comments makes sense.Big up keep learning man.

  55. #80.I KISSED YOUR MUM,you are very funny. On your “I’m really surprised before you used to talk crap man but of recently your comments makes sense.Big up keep learning man,”I tell you that I have ever been objective.I “call a spade,a spade”.On leakages,I know that Grade 7,9&12 leaked examination papers are found in all parts of Zambia. It is only that a few of us have always had confidence and pride in yourselves that we did not entertain spending useful hours for sleep to look for leakages. My elder brother (1st born) told me early in my life that I can only be proud of achieving anything if I work for it.He,my inspiration, passed through UNZA and late received mentor-ship in Japan is home now.

  56. #81 continued.
He is now offering his useful services to the GRZ as a Civil Servant. On the “many students from affluent families relied on leaked examination papers for them to pass examinations”,this could be true because most of such characters will be busy playing with their cellphones when a serious teacher is teaching them life learning skills.I personally witnessed this at a private school in Lusaka The characters then panic when it is time to write the UK examinations for normally they know nothing. As for the GRZ schools scenario, just just give the teachers and other Civil Servants a 15% salary and allowances increase President RB Banda Administration. 25kg Mealie Meal is ZK 75pin.

  57. #82 Its good to have confindence and pride in yourselve. One thing you have to remember its not only dumb students getting leakages everyone can as long as the cash is there. You cannot problem the students,if anything problem the source and once the source is been cut off the problem won’t be there.Life is game and you have to play it to your potential to win. The competition to get a place at unza or cbu is higher especially if you want science. My uncle had 18 points in the 80s and still got in school of natural science is a doctor now,if today you get the same points you will be lucking even to get a place at uni.I don’t support leakages at all but we have to look at reasons beyond that.

  58. #85. I KISSED YOUR MUM, true. My elder brother had 17p in 6 and I had to get 10p in the same number to make it to UNZA. It was not even hard to get that 10 for I was one of the lazy ones always seen playing Chess especially that I was the Chairperson for the schools club and used to play board one for it on outings. The pupils only need dedicated and motivated teachers like I had in that Catholic-GRZ school where the fathers and christian brothers with the normal non-Catholic Zambians where very well-disciplined and agile to duty.GRZ must just pay the teachers well and this problem will be gone. Alternatively, let GRZ use ZAF helicopters to distribute all exam materials on writing days.

  59. Many factors today are affecting the quality of graduates from Zambian Institutions and hence their contribution to society. Besides leakages, look at the so called CBU for instance where a student graduates today and tomorrow he/she is a lecture at the same institution. What do u expect? Internationally, an institution qualifies to be called a University if besides other technicalities, has at least 14 professors in total.Minimum qualification of lecturer must be a masters degree. How many are there at CBU, Mulungushi University, Lusaka University or what ever( I know UNZA qualifies). If Govt. sorts out the leakage issue, what about the Matero boys printing all sorts of certificates? :d/

  60. You need not go far to see what Mumba Kapumpa is talking about, the author of the article does not know the difference between UPND and UNDP. As quoted “And United Nations Development Programme (UPND) Governance Unit advisor Michael Soko”

  61. This is leading us in a very grim direction, in NZ they refuse to recognise qualifications from some countries like Nigeria and a few others (they have a list) coz they know such things happen there. It’ll be sad to Zambia being added to a list like that because of leakages:(

  62. the educ syst has just gone down beyond repair all bcose of corruption which has infiltrated all our sectors including our educ.as 4 mr mumba’s remark, can we have an analytical report based on the cases we have at hand to establish if indeed it’s the affluents’ kids that were caught with licked papers?otherwise,i think rich, poor all get invoved these days…corruption and povert is at the centre!hahahaha those DAKASETS(DK) days,no exam linkages yet the sch used to record 100% pass rate,eg,in 1993,25/35 students in my class made to either UNZA or CBU.What is happening these days?shame shame,:”>.

  63. Uncle Kapumpa is right. I too have a feeling that even some of our leaders fikopo. Just think of one Mike Mulongoti! The man is so dull and I wonder why he is even a minister! Yaba!!

  64. The problem is that there aren’t enough places in university n pipo look for leakages becoz u have to maximize your chances of getting into UNZA- dont get me wrong i dont support leakages and a worked hard to get my 6 points. But the fact is that in many western countries pipo who aren’t the smartest still go to university but in Zed being average isn’t OK,its hit or miss!So the govt should look to all these things when making solutions. besides pipo who don’t use leakages can still enter uni through corruption even if u failed!

  65. cont’d from 94,and mind yu guys none of my former class mates from DAKASETS passed thru UNZA as tourists,we all made it to various displines after the fresher yr.i am proud to be part of the hard working students of the time, and our efforts paid off.these days its a paradox, pupils have access to a lot of materials including internet services in some cases, but results are nothing to write home about, just lickages here and there, shame shame, :”>

  66. #37 Even though i opted to study outside zed i will say that pipo who get into unza for other reasons apart from their hard work..usually fail out in the first year!! I know many chaps thats why they have come to study here becoz their standards aint good enuff for UNZA. Most pipo graduating from UNZA n go to do their postgrad abroad usually become top students where they go so its not really true that a Zambian education is worthless in fact most of those chaps at UNZA probably know a lot more than u.So i dont really agree with kapumpa besides its only in Africa were pipo assume that if u a not an EXCELLENT student in high school u wont amount to anything.many pipo dont always start on top

  67. by the way, those pupils and teachers who were caught with leaked papers must be dealt with professionary so that the top characters are brought to book.we’re told the exams were printed in S/A,so no teacher or pupil had access to them.someone up there must have started the vicious circle, and it’s him/her that the country needs the most to face the wrath of such horrible acts.

  68. This Article about Simutowe becoming Grand master needs to be report ba LT.

    Simutowe is Chess Grand Master
Zambia’s chess ace Amon Simutowe has been confirmed as chess Grand Master by the International Chess Federation.

Simutowe has become the first black African chess player to be confered with the Grand Master norm in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He joins seven other Arabic Grand masters from three Arab speaking countries in North Africa.

Simutowe told ZNBC Sports that he was happy and proud of the achievement.

  69. Simutowe’s achievement cant be underestimated and surely must be hailed by all serious minded Zambians. However, many Zambians have no idea at all how great this fit by Simutowe is. The game of chess is one which will at least help to expose the infinite capabillities of the human mind. Simutowe has proved beyond the shadow of doubt that an African is no less intelligent and no less incapable of greatness. The fact that he has achieved this with very little support and mostly by his own effort is simply amazing.

His elo rating is around 2469 and no mean achievement. Bravo Baba Simutowe, bravo Zambia!

  70. Mumba Kapumpa. You are a lawyer. A couple of weeks ago there was news that even leakages are happenning for lawyers exams. Tell us. Infact it is the children of the apamwamba that have access to leakages. Where can the poor get the money to buy leaked exam papers?

  71. How do you expect a leaking and corrupt system to be above board? Its utopia! Firstly, the elections are a fraud or shall I say leakage, inauguration is done and supersonic speed and the you expect students to be HONEST. Do first what you demand from others. Honesty and integrity are wrong words for present day Zambia because even lawyers cheat to be admitted to the bar. In fact, law is now a high class career coz rich ones can afford leakages. Studying law currently is like playing GOLF.

  72. #61. Jehova’s witness are pretenders and liars dear. I dated this guy who wanted me to convert to theirs, it was hell he mistreated me and got away with my money he borrowed from me. I hate, hate them

  73. Catholic school are the worst culprits when it comes to leakage.Priests and Nuns provides leakage to students at no cost at all. :d

  74. Leakages aside, Mr. Kapumpa has also alluded to people being members of too many boards. This is so true such that these people just sit in these board meetings for the allowances. They do not have the orgnaisation’s interest at heart. Systems should be put in place that will only allow a person no more than two board appointments and if any of those companies collapse, that person should be barred from holding any such positions for a period of 5 yrs or more. We will see all companies begin to perform because their board members will no longer view their appointments as a means to paying school fees.

  75. The fact the leakages have rocked exams there is nothing anyone can do about it its too late :d/. The same way corruption has entered the Police Service and cannot be rid of…..its a worm that will eat the force away.

  76. What we should be discussing is the levels of morality in our society today..how can we change this..people have no morals…cheating to get ahead at anything is the order of the day, politics, education,a passport,a licence, any kind of service,to buying pirated stuff…and the bottom line is poverty..not financial but mental poverty, that is where it all starts…and the source is right at the top…with the leaders..and filters right down to the population..TAKE A HARD LOOK…:O

  77. Number 111…Good point! Comrade Hakainde Hichilema is the major CULPRIT on this one. I remember when he was making his debut in politics at Mulungushi his CV was distributed in the auditorium. He was listed on more than 15 boards including defunct institutions, the only viable institution on the list was Barclays. I love your suggestion.

  78. maybe we should do away with education barriers such as examinations! its about time learning became individualised coz we are not the same to be examinated on standardised tests! ABASH EXAMS- VIVA EDUCATION FOR ALL BASED ON INDIVIDUAL ABILITIES

  79. maybe each student should be given specific objectives or goals to achieve based on their interests, abilities, culture and level of intelligence. success should be judged on their ability to meet that objective within a specific time frame. this will force students to work hard. i dont mean anything like UNZA assignments coz they can pay someone to write for them

  80. 115.. You are a progressive thinker? But the question is can excessively strained economies like Zambia sustain that kind of education? Don’t you think its too gigantic an idea for our poor budget? In as much as it tastes great but it does seem implementable. What do you think? Educate me on modalities and how to execute such a splendid idea in ROCK BOTTOM economies like ours.

  81. Plse Zambians hold these irresponsible leaders accountable; We want you to sign a petition to impeach the President and Members of Parliament, The world is in a recession real leaders take a pay cut not a pay raise send an e-mail to [email protected] say impeach the President and Parliament sign it.Please this e-mail forward to all the Zambians you know all over the world.

  82. FIRST ENTRANTS TO UNZA SHOULD BE GIVEN GRADE 12 EXAMS AGAIN TO SEE SUITABILITY USING OLD G12 PAPERS YOU WILL SEE HOW THEY FLOP THEN WE CAN HAVE THE BEST

  83. Mr Kapumpa is very right and this is very worrying because jobs are going to wrong people and right people are either left out or retrenched for graduates with fake certificates. I would rather have hard earned school certificate than a fake one. By the way things and exams were tougher then than now. Let us put our heads together and find a solution to this.

  84. Mr Mumba Kampumpa is very right. The Zambian standard of education has gone to dogs. No wonder there is high unemployment in the country. If you employeed a Degree holder graduate of today and a form three certificate holder of yesterday, the type of work out put from the two individuals will highly differ. You will discover that a form three employee will produce good work out put as compared to Degree holder – Why? Because of the same corruption..!Busholi too much..! Please ACC and Police I request that anyone found wanting in this issue must be imprisoned no bail allowed to keep our country free from such dirty persons. [-(

  85. Genuine students with brains are walking the streets while Ba some of us’s kids are the ones making up the numbers at UNZA. That why they can even afford to throwc stones at motorists and force closures. I am sorry bane, but going to UNZA has just lost its meaning today. It meant a lot during our time, not now. There are too many Quakes out there. The rot has even infiltrated the law proffession itself…Remember ZIALE?

  86. No (51), your name and writing are unmatched. However, I would like to think you kissed someone’s mum on the forehead.

I couldn’t agree with you more in your blog. It is true, intelligence and being educated are not one and the same. There are some people who are puzzling. You would think they would come up with the best solutions, decisions or options only to disappoint you. I guess they are only human, hey. I once wrote some kind of test with someone who had a degree. I excelled. They couldn’t believe it, and tried again and again and each time I beat them. When I rejoiced at my excellence they reminded me that they had a degree. Well, don’t know about you, but I think papers ar

  89. here in south Africa, especially in the field of IT, we are put in the same category whether someone has a degree or not, especially during interviews.

If the degree holder does not perform during interviews, he is chucked Zedians from matero university are actually being caught..
